Decent jokes, bad delivery.......2007-06-25

About half of the jokes on the CD were amusing, but the whole time I was listening to it I kept thinking that this could be really funny stuff in the hands of someone like Dave Attell. I think Hedberg was probably a good writer, but not a very good comedian.

He alluded to the fact that he was making a CD of the performance. It was very annoying when he played to the live audience, doing visual things and telling them that, ha-ha, the people listening on CD won't get this.

I cried when Mitch Hedberg died........2007-05-22

He was my absolute most favorite comic and I couldn't help it. I have never had anyone close to me die and I had seen Mitch in concert twice so really he is the closest person to me who has died. That is sad for me I know. Anyhow, this cd is awesome! Unlike his first cd, which is also great, this one has a little bit of a more uptempo delivery. He sounds like he kicked the drugs for a little while before he recorded this. With all the jokes being so short there are many many jokes on this disc. Not only that, but Mitch was the best when a joke bombed. If you listen to this you will find that out. I think he purposely put bombs in his act just for that very reason. I miss you Mitch. Hope you'll be telling me jokes in Heaven.

*Listen and move - They tiptoe, run, hop, gallap and laugh their way to some energy release!

* The Number rock - In a circle joining hands and yelling and screaming the numbers. Helps to count and recgonize sequencing. Then we all fall to the ground!

*The Freeze - they just want to keep freezing (We like to freeze in a really goofy position)

*The World is a Rainbow - We have rainbow streamers that children do things with. We ask each child to wave their streamer in a unique way to this song and then everyone copies.

Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.

This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.

This is great children's CD. I use it daily in my preschool classroom. The songs are catchy and educational.I particulary like "Hand Jive". This is a song where children listen to clapping beats and repeat back the same beat. Great fun! I also like "The Days of the Week" songs in English and Spanish. This is a great way to help children learn about another language in an easy,fun way. I would recommend this CD to anyone who works with children.It is a great CD for parents to keep in the car for those long car rides.

Classic Rock for the Preschool Plus!.......2007-01-08

Ok, I admit it; I'm an old dude, but Greg & Steve rock! They've been around about as long as me (they first showed up with their music in the 1970's), but all of their songs have aged VERY well.

I am now a preschool special ed teacher, and I have every volume of what they have available. Each volume is great in its own way, with some really fantastic stuff mixed with a few that just don't work for me. But that is OK: each CD is worth the price of even one of their best songs. Luckily they always have several that shine.

Wonderful song writing, fun remakes of classics, great guitars, keyboards and drums for us old rock'n'roller's turned yuppie taking care of the little ones. Buy them all, you will find something you love on every "album" (OK, they were albums before they became CD's), and so will all the kids from birth to, well, 40-something, like me.

Have to love Greg and Steve.......2006-01-18

I'm a substitute teacher and I used "the shapes" song to review shapes with a kindergarten class. The kids loved standing up and sitting down when their shape was called. They asked me to do again and again.

Also "the disco limbo" is good to do around the room on a rainy day. Kids had a blast!

I gave it 4 stars because there aren't many other songs on this Cd that involve movement like the first two volumes.

Our [....] daughter loves this CD and what's wonderful is that we love it, too! I can remember listening to many of these songs when I was growing up and I'm happy to be able to share them with my daughter. She asks to listen to it over and over again, and has already memorized many of the lyrics. Highly recommended!

i consider myself somewhat of a kids' music guru, and this one is not one of my families' favorites. they touch on some of the old favorites-ones that need to be left alone with more time spent on creating new favorites. the harmonizing gets to be a bit much about midway through the disc. i have heard worse, though!

COME TOGETHER, marks The Lynne Arriale Trio's 10th Anniversary and their 9th recording together. Working exclusively as the leader of her long time trio, Arriale has amassed a body of work that has been favorably compared to the great piano trios: "… A brilliant improviser… (she) should take her rightful place alongside Brad Mehldau," (Jazz Times.) "A superb performer…her Trio is more than a match for Jarrett's," (The Times - London.) Come Together is her most personal expression to date, featuring six compelling original compositions (along with the Lennon and McCartney-penned title track, a prayer-like arrangement of the traditional Scottish folk song `Red is the Rose' and the New Orleans musical anthem `Iko Iko'). The title track of Arise, her own composition, was one of the most requested instrumental tracks on jazz radio in 2003. "It inspired me to write even more originals for this new CD," says Arriale. The Trio will be featured on the special "Profiles of a Performing Artist" airing on PBS member stations throughout '04 and `05, also on NPR's Piano Jazz with Marian McPartland and, for the second year in a row, NPR's Jazz Piano Christmas - Live at the Kennedy Center.& European tour dates.

I've purchased other CD's by Lynne Arriale, and I recently purchased "Come Together." I've found all of her CD's to be entertaining, but this one really touched me. I normally am circumspect when a performer writes their own stuff. (I realize that they can't keep playing the standards, but still . . . ) But when I heard "Home" I think I melted on the spot. I literally became entranced by it. The emotion that Lynne and Jay and Steve put into this song. Breathtaking. The song really captures for me what the word "home" means. Then, compare this song with "Braziliana." The calm and serenity of "Home" is replaced by some truly gifted, and frenetic, piano work in "Braziliana." This song is hot.
But the reason I purchased this CD in the first place was because of "Red is The Rose." I love this song, and I've heard thousands of versions of it. I think Lynne nailed the real feeling of this song. Simply beautiful.
I think the trio format is intersting. So much music today is overproduced, and the emotion gets left behind in all the hub-bub. With just a trio the music comes to the forefront, where it belongs.

Every so often the Lynne Arriale Trio goes to work and creates a jewel that we can carry in our hearts. I'm not sure if this CD is a ruby or a diamond, but I do know it is beautiful. If you have never purchased a CD by the Lynne Arriale Trio, and you truly love music, do something special for yourself and buy this CD...buy all of their CDs.

Lynne did three sets at the 2004 Monterey Jazz Festival in, in my humble opinion, the perfect setting for her music, a small(circa 250 seats)darkened room, and the experience was mesmerising. She communicates feelings and emotions magnificently via beautifully crafted and performed compositions, most of which are original. I bought this record afterwards as she had played most of the tracks. Sit at home with the lights low and you will not experience a better jazz pianist.
