Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Seven Demons - The Repossession.......2005-09-30

Cutthroat, bloodthirsty, seven shades of death, cold calculated and merciless

4 out of 5 stars Solid.......2004-08-29

For me Ice-T is one of the best rappers ever and I've spent long hours listening to his hardcore gangster rap. Kind of odd for a middle-aged white guy but what can I say? His in your face, pro-freedom of speech attitude is one that I hold myself. He is one of the founding fathers of gangster rap and one of it's most innovative lyricists. I've seen Ice-T do his rap act only once but have seen him with his band Body Count four times and he puts on a tremendous show.

Seven Deadly Sins has a lot more edge to it than Ice-T's preceding album, Return of the Real. As a result it's a better effort and has some solid tunes. There's not as much of a mix to the beats though, which is a weakness, but you can play it through without skipping and be quite entertained.

Seven Deadly Sins scores a solid 3 stars:

Ratings: CDs are rated simply by how many good songs are on the album. Great songs get two stars, and good songs get one star. Songs that get no stars are those that I might like but not enough to give it a star or ones I find boring or actively dislike. CDs are not penalized for songs that I don't like because they are easy enough to skip over. There is no maximum number of stars a CD can get, but of course the more stars it gets, the better the CD.

As with all reviews, these are my subjective opinions on the album.

3 out of 5 stars I wish I could have given this LP 5 starts...........2004-02-16

...but unfortunately I just can't.

ICE T ends up sounding like he's trying too hard to compensate for his lack of relevance. ICE -- you once were the undisputed king of "breaking down the game" when you wrote gems like "COLORS" and "PEEL THEIR CAPS BACK." But now you are just another face in the sea of gangsterism with this record -- plus you don't have any of the eye-opening political commentary that make you unique.

On this release, ICE T also sounds like he's trying too hard to overcome his dwindling credibility (anyone remember that bizarre kangaroo suit he wore for the film "Tank Girl"? Unfortunately I do. But pure testosterone and mock-underground vibes can't really undo the damage done.

HOWEVER -- given the fact that I (and many others who appreciate real hip-hop) hold ICE T to a much higher standard due to the fact that he's a living legend -- this album still comes off better than most of the competition! And that is definitely testimate to his success!

Songs like "Always Want to be a H*e" are ruthlessly genious! And the track with the slept-on KING T is seriously bumping.

Get this record-- but be prepared. It's unique in it's own way; it's not essential, but it will grow on you.

5 out of 5 stars Real Hardcore RAP!.......2003-12-02

None of that Jay Z, 50 Cent, Ja Rule CRAP!
Ice T like he has always done produced another WestCoast Hardcore Gangsta Rap CD! This by far is his best album, showing he still got skills! Only song I don't care for is "New York New York", but all the others are bangin.

P.S Jay Z speaks on the first song, but no ones perfect.. right?

5 out of 5 stars Ice-T proves that he's one of the Greatest!.......2003-09-17
