Album Description
After their debut EP in late 2002, LEVIATHAN hit the road in a big way in 2003, traveling many hard miles in their custom black ambulance. They cut their teeth by opening for THE MISFITS, THE EXPLOITED, DANZIG, DEICIDE, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, THE TURBO AC's, ICE T & BODY COUNT, and playing every other place they could get. Their latest CD "Internal Inferno" showcases six new tracks and three live cuts from their previous release. Really, it's like taking the set list that they have been playing in 2003 and boxing it up. It's recorded in such a way that was bare bones, to give it that stripped down live show sound, so you can hardly tell the difference from the studio tracks to the live cuts. From the hammering hypnotism of "Sell Your Soul" to the politically poignant songs like "Delma Banks" and "Citizen Kane", and all out stomping tunes like "West Memphis Three" and "Revolution", this is one CD that doesn't disappoint.

Complete Discography Remastered!.......2007-02-16
A few words about the remaster. On a whim, I decided to upgrade to this. Sonically, I haven't noticed a significant change. We're not talking about the remaster of Raw Power here. The main differences really are the cover (blue instead of red), the CD color (gray instead of red), and the CD insert photo (a live shot from a gig). All the songs seem to have the same punch they had before. A cheaper alternative to buying here: this is out of print, but I've seen copies of this floating around different Hot Topic stores. So if you have a mall in town and feel like getting it at a regular price, go have a look.
So, if you're a die hard Minor Threat fan, go for it. But if you still have your old copy, an upgrade isn't really necessary.
And after this, you need to get into Fugazi and Rites of Spring.
Usual attack, mostly different sentiment.......2007-01-27
First, the flaming lips of singer/songwriter Ian MacKaye are of a punchy and punky tone: lots of heavy swearing, political slander-- and certainly even more-- limited amount of properness; this band does not want to be mainstream: this is hardcore punk and it contains thunderous, super-sonic screams, with a F-you! guy attitude. Second this band knows how to play there instruments to the bone. They have a thunderous up-and-front attack to your speakers, that makes it pure head-banging music. There is no subtleness here, this is raw punk rock, not very well produced and rough around the edges, which may turn some listener's off.
However, those who look at there music with a speculative eye will find that the band makes many comments on their own stance against drugs and alcohol: certainly making them one of the few anti-establishment groups to be known for such a thing. Take the song, "Out of Step (with the world)," it contains the straightforward short lyrics: "(I) Don't smoke/ Don't drink/ Don't f**k/ At least I can f**king think/ I can't keep up (repeat three times)/ Out of step with the world." Minor Threat tells us that we can still have fun, without these poisons that may kill us sometime down the line: in other words it shows you can live the high life with just good `ole fashioned logical thinking, and reasoning. They show this facet through their first song on Complete Discography, known as, Filler, a song about the bad aspects of blindly believing in religion, an anti-conformist subject often brought up in punk music.
Yet, do not worry, even if you do not agree with their outlook on life, and do not like hardcore at all, its at least a short album; as on this twenty-six song collection of their career, the songs are all only a minute or two long, sometimes even less than a minute, while the whole album runs no longer than forty two minutes. These short run times are in the classical punk mode, and they even pay homage to the British 1970's band, Wire, with "12XU," a good cover, played with plenty of conviction.
Minor Threat may seem a little outdated in their same-sounding songs that lack much nuance. Yet, towards the last six or seven songs, the listener is awaken from their fading concentration with some pretty good tunes; especially, "Cashing In," featuring a special homage to Wizard of Oz's yellow brick road, and its famous line, "There's no place like home." Ian McKaye would later go on to front, Fugazi, a band that set up the genres of modern Alternative, and Emo (that is Emo when it was still more in line with hardcore punk.)
Looking back, Minor Threat was a band that along with Black Flag, and Bad Brains, laid the groundwork for hardcore punk, and even if it also showed this genre's bad attributes, Minor Threat also played some good rockin' music.

Utterly essential for anyone with even a passing interest in the U.S. Hardcore/Punk Scene...........2006-09-21
Although highly influential and seemingly bursting with ideas and thoughts, that on occasions, seemed restricted by their limited avenues to express them. And the constant re-interpretation of song dynamics and structure, with an admittedly basic band setup, the band only really made a handful of EP¡¦s and one Full length album. But pretty much all the material that made it for public consumption is neatly compiled here. The majority of songs are fairly brief (roughly around the 2min mark), and are vocally cathartic, morally outraged, and musically rebellious¡Kwith a very DIY aesthetic to song writing that shunned frivolous instrumentation, and instead delivered tightly wound buzzsaw guitar and pounding drums, all delivered at breakneck speed around Mackaye¡¦s wordplay. And although the values of Hardcore/Punk were primarily based around volume and confrontation. Here was a band that was well-read, Heavily politicized, railing against the government, especially the media, and hell??....even against some of the less-than desirable fans that would show up at gigs. But with Ian Mackaye the band had a singer that summed up emotions, frustration and anger in such a articulate and passionate way, that comments regarding their (by today standards) cheap production and lack of instrumental dynamics, were bypassed by watertight lyrics, a biting sense of self-depreciation humour, declarative statements, wrapped over snarling riffs around songs such as, I Dont Wanna Hear it,Screaming at a Wall, Look Back and Laugh, Out of Step (With the World), Seeing Red & (I¡¦m not Your) Stepping Stone.
Sadly for most, this band where never truly build to last, and the band would only complete one album, before disbanding and members going on to other bands, or in Mackayes & Jeff Nelson case, go on to run the highly influential "Dischord" label. Which would become a haven for similarly tense and intelligently focused D.C. bands that would continue what was started here. And although the scene has thrown up some truly remarkable bands (see my mention of similar bands, at the beginning of this review), Minor Threat¡Kwere never able to get past the one full album. But what this utterly brilliant discography does so perfectly is not only put all the bands work, in one nice tidy cd, as well as being remastered, but sequences it so that some of the ever so slighty slower songs (admittedly not many), are skillfully spread out throughout the disk, making every so slight tempo changes from the sheer relentless volatile musical assault. And for this seminal band, we should be thankful that it: (A) helped kick-start a scene that gave us similarly worthwhile contemporaries (B) The "Dischord" label, and (C) "Fugazi"....(*but that¡¦s a whole other story, altogether*)
