Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? On Eminem's sophomore album, he can't decide who he wants to be: the deranged pseudo-psycho of the Slim Shady LP, or a nice guy who just likes to rhyme about slicing and dicing his girlfriend ("Kim"). Of course, according to Eminem, he's just kidding. He refuses to take responsibility for the misogynistic, homophobic bile he spews, whining that he's the victim of people who don't get his unique sense of humor. It's good old America's fault if the kids aren't alright (Eminem blames bad parenting), and he's just capitalizing on Uncle Sam's dark side. On the Marshall Mathers LP, he's ambivalent about his fame, angry at his life, pissed off that people take him seriously, and fightin' mad at boy bands--and a lot of other white people. But the blue-eyed brat is acutely aware of his status as rap's resident alien: he has the most offensive mouth running, but never uses the "N" word. He gives lyrical love to tragic (black) legends like Tupac and Biggie while dissing white rappers hard. Even sitting duck Puffy gets the kid-gloves treatment. Of course, Eminem is an interesting, witty rapper, and there's some nice production on this CD, courtesy of Dr. Dre and others. But the hatred in Eminem's rhymes makes the album rotten at its core. And his protests that Slim Shady is just a persona become less convincing with each arrest. Then again, Eminem's got it hard: he's rich, famous, white, and male. --Lizz Mendez BerryAlbum Description

Solid Sophmore Set.......2007-06-26
Stan - excellent, almost chilling, rap about the pyschology of an obsessed fan who progressively comes unglued when Em doesn't answer his fan mail right away. The chorus from Dido's tune is excellently woven into the rap. Very grim ending. Em's critics couldn't write anything this insightful
Who Knew - good, sarcastic examination of critics who blame music for some wacko's actions.
The WAy I Am - Em gets off his chest frustrations of being famous and never getting a second's privacy from fans who never think maybe he likes to be let alone once in a while.
The REal Slim Shady - very bouncy, catchy rhythm and lyrics. Got lots of radio and video play
Remember Me? - hardcore rapl Em gets to yelling in it. Features other rappers. Very heavy
I'm BAck - Em is back, again knocks/mocks people who blame him for others' actions. Kinda slow and slurry at times, like a record being dragged
Amityville - very heavy, Em yelling in this one too
The Kids - funny rap w/South Park references. Would be lighthearted, except people wind up meeting bad ends.
Criminal - another rap aimed at people who blame Em for violence
A rapper even a white lady and mother can love!.......2007-04-27
The key turning point, that made me decide to tune into Eminem, and see whether he actually has something good to offer with his stuff, that maybe, just maybe, has passion, soul, and POWER,(as any song that's heavy on sex and violence inevitably MUST also have, or else it becomes truly just angry junk food music), was my viewing of the movie "Scary Movie 3". Specifically, when I saw the white 'farm boy' rapper, who my boys told me was actually a parody of EMINEM, do his priceless 'rap' contest performance, then, I thought....This is totally cool! Let's buy an Eminem CD, and check out the boy!
Well, it only took one spin of Tracks 1,2, and 3,(and one or two later tracks, with a twist on the same themes as the first 3 songs), with their amazing powerful tongue-in-cheek, SLAMMINGLY effective, simultaneous parody of self (Mr. Slim Shady),and the 'ladies' (girlfriend, husband-blaming, wallowing in victimhood, mother, who he wants to 'f..', or bossy ladies on the warpath, or music executives who want to 'silence' his music's soul, cause it's too full of anger at their greed and jaded materialism, and so tell him in bored, whiny voices to try to write stuff that 'sells'), to fall in love with this POET EXTRAORDINAIRE, and his lyrics, which do some heavy duty spittin' on ladies (and men), but also can end with a softly spoken, sweet "I'm just foolin' ladies! You know I love you". I knew at once that this young man moved me, and that he spoke to me as well as to the boys groovin' to his beat and his poetic honest, no b.s., lyrics!
THIS IS ONE GENIUS THAT SHOWS WHAT RAP AT ITS BEST CAN BE, AND I AM HOOKED. I do laugh and shake my head, and cringe at times, when EMINEM spits out one or another line about his g.f. tied up in the trunk! But I also can't help but privately rock myself, and 'rap' with him, and say, keep on rocking Mr. Slim Shady...You got a soul, and you keep on sharing it with your generation, mine, and my kids' !!

On The Slim Shady LP, Eminem wants it all. He's conflicted, you see; the world has treated him badly, and he wants to respond in kind. But he isn't a straight-up gangsta--this is, after all, the first release on Dr. Dre's Aftermath Records, his post-Death Row-era venture--and Eminem (born Marshall Mathers) doesn't really want anyone to follow in his footsteps, which leads to some interesting contradictions on this album. In the first single, "My Name Is," he's self-deprecating, rapping about his poor upbringing and his hairy palms. But on the very next song, "Guilty Conscience," he plays the devil to Dr. Dre's angel--that is, until Eminem brings up an incident from Dre's devilish past, rapping, "You gonna take advice from someone who slapped Dee Barnes?" Later, on "'97 Bonnie & Clyde," he turns Will Smith's "Just the Two of Us" on its ear, making it a tale of murder; but on "My Fault," he actually feels bad--though whether it's for the girl he overdosed or for himself is tough to figure out. With his nasal Midwestern tone, Mathers has a clean, clear flow, and the production--by Dr. Dre, Marky, and Jeff Bass--is crisp but consistently fun. With his outlook, it's tough to take Eminem too seriously, but he's made an album you don't have to take seriously to enjoy. --Randy SilverAlbum Description

Shady's not shabby.......2007-06-26
My Name Is - definitely catchy. The sanitized version got tones of airplay of course.
Guilty Conscience - insightful rap into what happens when 3 different young men are confronted by powerful temptations/emotions [need for money, sex, wife cheats]
Brain Damage - creative rap about a kid who's taken too much crap at school and home and fights back
If I Had - rapper muses on what he'd do if he had money
'97 Bonnie and Clyde - most genuinely disturbing rap. Depicts covering up murder of wife in company of daugther.
My Fault - rapper causes death of girl by letting her eat way too many shrooms
Cum on Everybody - gets listener hopping around
Rock Bottom - a look at feelings of a guy for whom everyday life is a struggle with poverty
Just Don't Give a
I'm Shady - has a thumping groove
Bad Meets Evil - Em is joined by Royce Da 5-9 in a parody on a Wild West Ghost Town story

Eminem's Greatest Album.......2007-01-05
Please spare me the lectures about cursing, and violence. Yes it is has both but unlike the next album, this one is more playful and cartoonish. For example he doesn't rap angrily or very threatining. And a lot of the violence he talks about is very hard if not impossible to attempt. In fact, most of the tracks are quite hilarious especially: Brain Damage, My Name Is, My Fault, Role Model, and Just Don't Give a F**k. And it has the amazing track called Rock Bottom. I will say this though: this album is NOT for the faint hearted. But if you can take a joke and not take it seriously It ought to be very good CD in your opinion.

Despite the cursing and wierd topics, there are plenty of good tracks that everyone can relate to is they just listen.

Any lingering doubts as to the depth of Eminem's skills or his potential for raw yet compelling honesty are dispelled on The Eminem Show's first track. Armed with a quicksilver flow and a thundering rhythm track (the record was exec produced by longtime mentor and partner Dr. Dre), "White America" finds Eminem ferociously mauling the hand that feeds him, lambasting his critics, the industry, and the racism that, in many ways, helped make Marshall Mathers more than just another rapper. "Let's do the math," Em sneers, "If I was black I would have sold half/ I could be one of your kids/ Little Eric looks just like this." After the bombast of The Marshall Mathers LP and Eminem's well-noted use of sexual epithets, this kind of material is made more controversial because it actually rings true. From a brutal retort to his long-estranged and equally troubled mother ("Cleaning Out My Closets") to a surprisingly tender ode to his child ("Hailie's Song"), Eminem examines his life, loves, arrests, addictions, failures, and successes with surprising insight, making this a funk-drenched hip-hop confessional well worth the hype. --Amy LindenCustomer Reviews:
Third Strike - at his Critics.......2007-06-26
White America - Em muses on his success any mabye it having a lot to do with him being a white rapper and so accessbile to more fans.
Business - very bouncy and catchy rhythm. Dr. Dre is featured. A fun tune to hop along with.
Cleanin Out my Closet - a big blast at his mom
Soldier - different sound to it, fast and nervous, edgy like something's about to go down and the rapper is jonesing
Drips - slow, kinda languid rap about STD
Sing for the Moment - mixes Em's raps with the Aerosmith tune. Works well. Em says you gotta reach out and grab your chance
When the Music Stops - excellent fast and chaotic tune featuring a lot of guest rappers. Looks at how a lot of rappers have let the craziness of their music seep over into their lives and the line is blurred, with tragic consequences in the real world.
My Dad's Gone Crazy - excellent tune about Em and his experiences growing up/coming up and how important his music is. He states in this tune that he'll never stifle himself for the critics. Lots of anger in this one, well directed into energy.

What began life as an informal street mix-tape project to help launch fledgling Shady Records artists (Stat Quo, Ca$his, Bobby Creekwater, Obie Trice, and producer The Alchemist) has now become an official release. Flowing fairly randomly from track to track, the project, perhaps surprisingly for such a high profile outing, retains its original mixtape vibe. It's a thuggish and sluggish affair, led by Alchemist's somber, strong-arm beats (with additional production from Dr. Dre amd Kon Artis), and inhabited by a varied range of voices, from the Shady Records artists previously mentioned to Eminem himself (on half a dozen tracks), and appearances from 50 Cent, the recently slain Proof, and others from the G Unit crew. With so many cuts at the same tempo and with the same moody aura, it can all start to wear a little in places. Indeed, with such a wealth of up and coming talent and established personnel at work, there really ought to be more stand-outs. As it is, we get perhaps six killers (including Eminem-led cuts, "The Re-Up" and "Jimmy Crack Corn"), a disproportionate amount of fillers, and a mixtape/album that--just about--leaves a vaguely positive impression. --Paul SullivanAlbum Description
Eminem Presents: The Re-Up (Shady Records/Interscope Records), began as a street mixtape project--an underground, unofficial CD with raw production values--designed to help launch new Shady Records artists Stat Quo, Ca$his and Bobby Creekwater. "But what happened is that the material was so good and the tracks were getting produced like a regular album," said Eminem. "Instead of putting it out there rough and unfinished, I thought we should add some other new tracks, make it a real album, and put it in the record stores to give these new artists a real boost." The album was executive produced by Eminem, who also produced the majority of the songs. A handful of selections were produced by The Alchemist, who also compiled the album in true mixtape fashion. The Alchemist is best known for his work with Cypress Hill, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Mobb Deep, and Jadakiss. Each of the tracks makes its official CD debut on Eminem Presents: The Re-Up, though Stat Quo's "Billion Bucks," and Obie Trice's "Cry Now" (Remix), produced by LT Moe, was recently released on mixtapes and to radio. The first single and video will be "You Don't Know" from Eminem, 50 Cent, Ca$his and Lloyd Banks. With Eminem and Ca$his from the Shady camp and 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks from G-Unit, the rap illustrates the unity of the two organizations.
The Re-Up also gave acclaimed hip-hop producer The Alchemist a chance to work with Shady's new regime. After joining forces on-stage as Eminem's DJ on last year's Anger Management 3 tour, Alchemist and the Shady camp began collaborating in the studio. This new album features the results of this anticipated collaboration with new tracks produced by The Alchemist featuring Stat Quo, Ca$his, Bobby Creekwater and Obie Trice.
Among the album's other recordings are "No Apologies" from Eminem; "Talkin' All That" from Ca$his; "City Of Gold" from Bobby Creekwater; "Murder" from Bizarre and Kuniva (both of D12); and The "Smack That (Remix)" with Akon.
Stat Quo, hailing from Atlanta, was signed to a joint deal between Shady Records and Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment after Eminem and Dre heard him on the Underground Atlanta mixtape series. Creekwater, also from Atlanta, was inked after Eminem heard his work on demos and in the studio with The Alchemist. Ca$his, a Chicago native transplanted in his youth to Orange Co., California, was a member of West Coast underground favorites The Renegadez.
Rampant misinformation about Eminem Presents: The Re-Up included many false internet tracklistings and that the mixtape would be a tribute to D12's Proof, the recently slain rapper and close friend of Eminem. "The D12 album and those unreleased songs with Proof are coming," said Eminem. "But The Re-Up is about these new artists and these new songs. It isn't fair to them or to the memory of Proof to mix them up."

Eminem's four studio albums shattered so many sales records that you might think just about every man, woman and gerbil on the planet already owns a bulk of the songs that make up this greatest hits collection. But Curtain Call presents the perfect opportunity to have another look at the life of Marshall Mathers. Starting out in the vein of the Beastie Boys and Slick Rick, he grafted filthy verses over bubbly nursery rhyme melodies and primitive Casio beats to come up with comical singles like "My Name Is" and "Real Slim Shady." Then angst and reflection set in, resulting in rare moments of vulnerability ("Lose Yourself") and a richer musical experience ("Stan"). The three new tracks reflect the entire spectrum, with "When I'm Gone," a bittersweet goodbye letter, signaling the raw emotion and youthful enthusiasm of his early days have substantially faded, while "Fack" counters that the Detroit rapper still has the dirtiest mouth in the business. --Aidin VaziriAlbum Description
Curtain Call includes three new songs--"Fack," "Shake That" (featuring Nate Dogg) and "When I'm Gone"--both written and produced by Eminem. In addition, the Curtain Call bonus track marks the album premiere of the controversial Eminem-Elton John live duet of "Stan" from the 2001 Grammy Awards presentation. Executive produced by the nine-time Grammy winner, Curtain Call boasts all five of Eminem's gold and platinum singles to date, from the platinum, Oscar, and two-time Grammy-winning "Lose Yourself" (#1 Pop/#2 Rap) from the 8 Mile soundtrack and platinum "Just Lose It" (#6 Pop/#7 Rap) and "Mockingbird" (#11 Pop/#10 Rap) to the gold "Without Me" (#2 Pop/#5 Rap) and "Like Toy Soldiers" (Top 40 Pop). The other Grammy winners included are "My Name Is" (Top 40 Pop/#10 Rap) and "The Real Slim Shady" (#4 Pop/#7 Rap). Also heard are "The Way I Am" (Top 30 Rap), "Stan" (featuring Dido) (Top 40 R&B/Hip-Hop), "Sing for the Moment" (Top 20 Pop/Rap), "Guilty Conscience" (featuring Dr. Dre), and "Cleanin' Out My Closet" (#4 Pop/#5 Rap). Curtain Call: The Hits spans contributions from all four of Eminem's major-label solo albums: 1999's quadruple-platinum The Slim Shady LP, 2000's nine-times-platinum The Marshall Mathers LP, 2002's eight-times-platinum The Eminem Show, and 2004's Encore, which is almost five times platinum. The three most recent charted #1 Pop and #1 R&B/Hip-Hop, with his major-label debut #2 Pop and #1 R&B/Hip-Hop. Each of his first three albums also won the Best Rap Album Grammy (Encore will be eligible for the 2006 presentation). Eminem has to date sold more than 65 million albums.Customer Reviews:
Shady hits & misses.......2007-05-14
Then there are some songs on here that are just flat out annoying. The ones with silly, nursery rhyme lyrics, like Without Me, Real Slim Shady, or My Name Is...have merely a superficial appeal to young kids. They get real old real quick. I also have to skip past Like Toy Soldiers, because it seems a little pretentious. And by the time Mockingbird drones through the speakers, I'm pretty sick of hearing about his precious little daughter. Yeah, I get it Marshall, you love your little girl. Neato.
One of my biggest complaints of this CD is that the song Superman didn't make it on here. Why not?!? Maybe his beloved ex-wife found it too offensive and ordered him to leave it off or else.
Overall, I think the good tunes make this a CD worth owning. But you might wear out the NEXT button on your stereo trying to skip past the junk.

Don't tell the Professors, but I recommend Eminem (aka "Slim Shady"); this CD is groovin' and addictive. He has a unique flow and rhyme scheme. I also recommend his other works and videos.
looking for an excuse not to buy all of his albums..........2006-10-28
Fack is immature, funny, one of his only songs from his first album!
The Way I Am is probably his most depressing songs/videos and is actually one of the catchiest songs he's ever done!
My Name Is is the only other song from his first album. It's the song that pretty much everyone got to love and that's how he got to be where he is today! it's his first big hit that I can remember at least.
Stan is pretty much one of my favorite tracks because it has an interesting story & is well thought out!
Lose Yourself is by far the best hit he's come out with! It's a great rap song and it's so catchy!
Shake That is a chance to be silly and get up & dance!
Sing for the Moment is obviously an Aerosmith song. but Eminem puts a nice, serious twist to it and is surprisingly an extremely well done song!
Without Me provides us with similar styles to Just Lose It & The Real Slim Shady but all the 3 songs are fun to listen to!
Like Toy Soldiers is probably the best song off of the Encore cd! It's deep, meaningful & is sad to listen to.
Mockingbird is yet another message out to his daughter. but I don't mind it so much cause not only the song catchy but it shows how much he cares for his daughters!
Guilty Conscience, haha, Eminem gets to be the bad guy as he literally convinces people to crimes while Dr. Dre tries to talk them out of it. still, it's an interesting twist for song!
Cleaning Out My Closet reaches out to both his parents who weren't really there for him. Eminem has the right to say everything he does say here and I can understand where he's coming from! but anyways, the song is serious and a good song to catch!
When I'm Gone is his encore song and probably one of the most intense songs beside The Way I Am! It's got alot going for it and it's a great song for an encore!
Stan(live) feat Elton John is basically the same thing as the original except with no swearing and obvious a different singer for the chorus. but I'm not sure it's really worth it to listen to.
Also on the bonus cd there are 7 extra songs like: Criminal, Kill You & Just Don't Give A F*ck! so yah, it's worth your money to get Curtain Call with the bonus cd! the other songs are catchy & worth your money!
As a whole, the cd was well organized & he picked the right songs for the cd! Eminem was one of the best rappers of our time! You should definitely check this out!

Eminem's fourth album offers few surprises, but still enough pleasures to carry the day. As evinced by Em's pre-election, pro-voting "Mosh," this is not exactly the same Eminem who seemingly crapped on anything and everything. Encore finds a surprisingly mature Eminem waxing reflective about his battle with Benzino ("Like Toy Soldiers") rather than unloading both barrels. However, it's not all elder statesmanship: "Puke" goes after his ex-wife Kim with incredible scorn, and "Big Weenie" showcases the familiar juvenile humor that made him famous. If Encore has a clear weakness, it's the bland production--the same plodding sound that he and Dr. Dre cooked up on the previous three albums. The exotic flavor of "Ass Like That" catches the ear, but many others run off the same monotonous minor-key melodies and tempos. Of course, people buy Eminem albums to hear him spit first and foremost, and in that regard few fans will be disappointed by Encore; it'd just be nice to see him switch up his sound at some point. --Oliver WangAlbum Description

Eminem gets stranger than usual........2007-07-04
Bonus disc : 4 stars
Eminem has always been an acquired taste. He always aims to offend and usually he is successful and writes one damn good song at the same time. But this was the first album that he fell short on one of these tasks. And it's the wrong one to be unsuccessful with, most of the songs and beats are forgettable and not up to Eminem's high standards. Maybe it was cause the five years before he had released three albums that were ground breaking plus a very good D12 album. Or maybe he was working on his label and becoming a business man. Or maybe he was just burnt out on the celebrity game (when a chump like Ja Rule is trying to play you there's got to be a point when you say, "Why do I even have to write this battle track for this fool?").
Whatever the reason, Encore seems distracted. Not that there aren't some hot tracks. Never Enough is probably the standout on the album. You can blast this in the car but beware cuz you might be doing 80 before you even realize it.
What it comes down to is, for an Eminem fan this is essential but for a fair weather fan you might want to pick up something else. Or for someone who just picked up Chronic 2001 and wants to hear some Eminem songs that weren't played out on MTV, this ain't the place. Pick up Marshall Mathers LP or Slim Shady LP.
If you are a hardcore fan, make sure you pick up the two disc. The three tracks on the bonus disc are better than the entire album. They're remarkably similar to MM LP or When I'm Gone from Curtain Call.
Cool songs . . .
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Mockingbird, Like Toy Soldiers, One Shot 2 Shot, We As Americans, Love You More, Ricky Ticky Tock, and of course, Never Enough.

1. The beats suck. The only songs that have a decent beat are Like Toy Soldiers and Mosh. And the only reason Like Toy Soldiers became popular is because of the catchy chorus which is just a sample of an old song called Toy Soldiers by Martika. Apart from those two songs, the beats on the other songs are pretty lame. I mean, in Rain Man, the beat consists of just 3 chords.
2. He ran out of things to say. This is what made his downfall so inevitable. If you look through his previous 3 albums, most of his songs have one of the following six song meanings:
- My mother is a b***h and I am going to kill her.
- My ex-girlfriend, Kim, is a b***h and I am going to kill her.
- I have an alter-ego called Slim Shady and he is a psychopath who doesn't care what people think of him.
- Woe is me for I am being persecuted by the media (even though this is the sort of reaction I wanted from them when I wrote the controversial lyrics because the controversy gives me free publicity and makes my young fans feel that they are rebelling against their parents and authority when they buy my albums, increasing my records sales and making me even richer, plus giving me something else to whine about).
- Radio friendly single with humourous lyrics that take shots at celebrities that I release for each album debut to gain radioplay and appeal to stupid pop fans with a short attention span (My Name Is, The Real Slim Shady, Without Me and Just Lose It).
- I have a daughter.
Eminem has been milking those 6 themes for his whole career. Yes, I am aware that he does have songs that do not fit into those six categories (eg. Stan, Mosh, Guilty Conscience). But the majority of his songs do. All his previous albums revolve around these themes. It was inevitable that he would eventually run out of things to say. I mean, how many times could he rap about killing his mother, killing his ex-girlfriend and Slim Shady before people lost interest? His first 3 albums had completely milked those themes for what they're worth, and due to his inability to think of anything else, he just ends up writing a bunch of silly, immature, incoherent lyrics with no meaning whatsoever. He seems to be more interested in immitating bodily noises than actually writing some decent lyrics. On top of that, his radio-friendly single (Just Lose It), as well as being about the same subject as all the other ones, sucked musically as well as lyrically. How brave of Eminem to do what every other celebrity and comedian has done in the past few years (make fun of Michael Jackson). There's a reason why Eminem quit after this album. And don't believe him when he says it's because he's sick of the fame, it's because he's run out of things to write about.
This is the sad legacy of Eminem. An artist whose lyrics revolve so much around present events, particularly what is currently happening in his life, that they quickly become irrelevant within a few years. I mean, who cares about his criticism of Moby and boy bands (Without Me) now that their 15 minutes of fame are up? Who is going to care about his shots at other rappers and Michael Jackson when they are gone from the spotlight? Who still cares about his hatred of his mother and his relationship with Kim? Or how he's moving out of Hollywood (Say Goodbye to Hollywood) or his beef with Murder Inc (Like Toy Soldiers)? These songs become out of date within a mere 2 years after his album is released. The only songs that could possibly be relevant within 10 years are Lose Yourself and Stan.
People say that the Slim Shady LP and the Marshal Mathers LP are some of the best albums ever made, yet how many people still listen to them? I mean, going back and listening to them now, they just sound so bland and dated, and his voice just sounds annoying.
Eminem has no lasting appeal. He was fresh when he first came out, creating a buzz with his unique style and controversial lyrics, but his reliance on a few themes has lead him to a dead end. From the release of his second album, any old monkey could realise that his career would be short-lived. Eminem had potential, but his egocentric lyrics that relied on references to what was popular at the time, made him just another fad with no lasting appeal. Now his 15 minutes of fame are up, his fans have grown up, MTV and pop listeners will move onto the next fad and no one will remember him in 10 years time.

How Eminem was able to assemble so many credible emcees of today and yesteryear (Jay-Z, Rakim) to endorse his Holly'hood coming out party is anyone's guess. What is clear, however, is that (dare we say it) the Shady One might be growing up. On "Lose Yourself" Em abandons his callous, hardcore posturing to write thoughtful hood-centric coming-of-age lyrics that would make Melle Mel proud. On "Battle," Gang Starr's Guru tears through a sick beat from rap's most prolific producer, DJ Premier. Sadly, Nas wastes more valuable studio time dissing Jay-Z (ho hum) on "You Wanna Be Me." Interestingly, once you get past the living-legend love-in and peep the skills from Em's lesser-known Shady Records roster of underground wordsmiths, such as 50 Cent ("Wanksta") or Obie Trice ("Adrenaline Rush"), you might urge Em to consider giving up his thespian pursuits to become a full-time record executive. Not even the baffling inclusion of Macy Gray's humdrum "Time of Your Life" can sink this project. --Dalton HigginsCustomer Reviews:
Great CD.......2007-01-12
A Collection of Excellent Rap.......2006-08-25
1. LOSE YOURSELF-Eminem: (5/5)- What better way to start an album than with the first rap song to win the Academy Award for Best Song. This is, without a doubt, one of Eminem's best ever, and don't forget that he produced it too. This will always be a rap classic, need I say more?
2. LOVE ME-Eminem ft. Obie Trice & 50 Cent: (4.5/5)- Maybe it doesn't sport the best content, but I can't get enough of this one. Em's production is excellent, the light vocal chorus contrasts very well with the hard rap. All three artists are hungry and they deliver well.
3. 8 MILE-Eminem: (4/5)- Another good production by Eminem, at 6:00 minutes it's a little long, but recreates that dirty Detroit street feeling from the movie.
4. ADRENALINE RUSH-Obie Trice: (4/5)- Obie definitely captures your attention with this one, nowhere else will you here muthaf***** spit so many times in one chorus. Perhaps the most over-the-top on this album, but I love it.
5. PLACES TO GO-50 Cent: (4/5)- Now that we're well acquainted with Trice, it's 50's turn to introduce himself. This is a good one, especially considering it's 50 Cent. He doesn't sound bored in this one, and it's yet another great production from Eminem.
6. RAP GAME-D12: (4.5/5)- This one sports all six members of D12, with a dope chorus from 50 Cent and chilling joint-production between Eminem and Denaun Porter (Kon Artis). This is D12's hip-hop 101, and the raps compliment the music well.
7. 8 MILES AND RUNNIN'-Jay-Z ft. Freeway: (3.5/5)- Good production by Eminem. Less then spectacular performance by Jay-Z and Freeway but not bad by no means. Jay-Z reflects on his career and Freeway's getting his started, which was what 8 Mile was about.
8. SPIT SHINE-Xzibit: (4/5)- Solid performance by X to the Z with solid production from Porter. Xzibit takes a chance to reflect on his rap career as well and provide some advice for others.
9. TIME OF MY LIFE-Macy Gray: (0.5/5)- I have no idea why this is here, other than it adds to the theme of the album as a whole. Basically, you'll listen to is once, ask "why's that on there?" and never listen to it again.
10. U WANNA BE ME-Nas: (3.5/5)- I'm impressed that Nas is on here, but this diss track is definitely not his best work. However, still a good song produced by Nas.
11. WANKSTA-50 Cent: (3.5/5)- Nice one mixed by Dr. Dre. 50 Cent is already picking fights with Ja Rule, I agree with 50, Ja is a wanksta.
12. WASTING MY TIME-Boomkat: (0.5/5)- Well...it lives up to its name. I just pretend this was never here, when you copy the CD on your computer you can just leave this and Gray's out and you'll forget it was even there. This album still holds very strong with 14 tracks.
13. R.A.K.I.M.-Rakim: (4.5/5)- It's an honour to have Rakim on this album since he influenced rap so greatly. Ra takes this chance to put down what he stands for, and certainly takes advantage of the rock hard beat produced by Denaun Porter and mixed by Dr. Dre.
14. THAT'S MY N**** FO' REAL-Young Zee: (3/5)- Probably the weakest track on here (pretending that it's a 14 track CD), it uses a nice collaboration of guitars, but Young Zee isn't trying hard enough. It's still not bad, but had Zee done better, he might at least have an album by now.
15. BATTLE-Gang Starr: (4/5)- Another one of the hip-hop icon appearances that make this album a classic. Battles were also a big part of 8 Mile. This track uses heavy base coupled with record scratching and in-your-face raps that make this another solid track.
16. RABBIT RUN-Eminem: (5/5)- A 3:12 minute song with no chorus, so what makes this a five star track? Eminem is simply UNLEASHED on this one! It's as if he's focusing all his frustration and pent up rage and vents it all in these precious 3 minutes. Aided by an ominous Eminem production with a slight clock ticking in the background, you can feel all of the raw emotion in this song that is hard to find anywhere else.
So there you have it. If you want a tight collaboration of new and old school artists, this is the album for you. The only thing that could improve this album would be to get rid of the 2 degenerate songs and get a couple tracks by Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Notorious Big or DMX. But lets not get greedy, for $13.88 I find it impressive enough that Em assembled Xzibit, Nas, Gang Starr, Rakim and introduced us to Obie Trice & 50 Cent.
I hope you found this review helpful.

One of the new tracks, "When I'm Gone," is a bittersweet goodbye letter, signaling the raw emotion and youthful enthusiasm of his early days have substantially faded. --Aidin VaziriAlbum Description
Curtain Call includes two new songs--"Shake That" (featuring Nate Dogg) and "When I'm Gone"--both written and produced by Eminem.

From a brutal retort to his long-estranged and equally troubled mother ("Cleaning Out My Closets") to a surprisingly tender ode to his child ("Hailie's Song"), Eminem examines his life, loves, arrests, addictions, failures, and successes with surprising insight, making this a funk-drenched hip-hop confessional well worth the hype.Note: This limited-edition version includes a DVD that features concert and interview footage. --Amy Linden

Call me crazy..........2007-07-18
It seems to be his most mature and personal cd to date. The bonus dvd that comes with it is awesome too. It has live footage and an episode from the slim shady show, which is hilarious by the way.
This cd is still pissed off kind of like the marshall mathers lp,but this one is a little mature and personal. This is in response to all the bad publicity and bad responses to his first 2 major label cds, espicially the marshall mathers lp.I can honestly say that i actually like about every track on this cd,just like the slim shady lp. On the marshall mathers lp i liked them all except for 2,one of the 2 b/c snoop dog was on it and i can stand him. Eminem takes his anger out on kinds of issues and topics on here, you really just have to spin over and over to get a lot of it.
My favorite tracks would have to be,White America,Business,Soldier,Say Goodbye To Hollywood,Drips,Without Me,Sing Foe Tha Moment,Superman,When The Music Stops and 'Till I Collapse! Even though all the tracks are good and well written and well produced. Like i said earlier, it took me a few years to really get into this one, b/c at first i liked his 3 better, but now this one is probably my favorite one now!
If you like Eminem at all, get into this one, this one rules!
Awesome.......2005-02-14
I love you EMINEM.
Solid Album- There are some ignorant reviewrs.......2004-08-12
Overall the album was solid, though it seemed to be to comercail for eminem. The Marshal Mathers LP was a higher time for eminem with more feeling and thought was put into the album. The Eminem show is a great album to own.
the eminem what?.......2004-05-12
music is better.Eminem can't rap, he sounds like a wannabe rapper, exaggerating this cd with tons of swear words. Basically I do not understand the songs square dance, soldier, drips and the kiss. Relates nothing about him.The rest of the songs are ok eg:business, claening out my closet, say goodbye to hollywood, superman, hailie's song blah blah blah. I think eminem can come up with something better. All's not lost though, some songs are bubblin. But the others should rest in a time capsule. Not bad. But im not recommending it.
best album everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!.......2004-04-09

The Stan's Mixtape bonus CD on this two-disc deluxe edition finds the main character in "Stan" bringing together his favorite Eminem songs. Among the seven tracks are two from The Slim Shady LP: the #5 Rap "Just Don't Give a F***" and the Dr. Dre & Mel Man-produced "Role Model." From The Marshall Mathers LP are "Criminal" and the Dr. Dre & Mel Man-produced "Kill You." The mixtape also includes two tracks previously unavailable on any Eminem album--the "Dead Wrong RMX" (featuring the Notorious B.I.G.), notably co-produced by P. Diddy; and "Renegade" (featuring Jay-Z), a legendary duet from Jay-Z's classic The Blueprint album. Also included on the bonus CD is "Sh*t on You" (featuring D12), which until now has never been released on CD. A MUST HAVE for every Eminem fan.......2006-11-20
Intro: Who cares?
FACK: 8/10: How the FACK can you say that this song sucks? Ha ha... It's so facking hilarious!
The Way I Am: 7/10: Good single but could have been replaced with higher chart toppers.
My Name Is: 9/10. An execellent debut single. Disgusting but funny, and creative at the same time.
Stan: 10/10: In my opinion, one of Em's greatest. It's a mysterious song and Dido provides a great chorus.
Lose Yourself: 10/10: Another one of Eminem's greatest. Very inspiring.
Shake That: 6/10: It's alright... Good beat but it give me a headache for some reason...
Sing For The Moment: 9.5/10: A very powerful song. Great Lyrics.
Without Me: 8.5/10: the Eminem Show opening single. Funny song but not as good as My Name Is or The Real Slim Shady.
Like Toy Soilders: 8/10: There is a lot of meaning in this song.
The Real Slim Shady: 10/10: This is where Eminem began for me. Possibly one of my favorite songs.
Mockingbird: 7/10: Bueatiful Song but not as good as Hailie's Song from the Eminem Show. (It wasn't a hit however.)
Guilty Conscience: 9/10: An Eminem oringinal. Very Funny.
Cleanin Out my Closet: 8/10: Eminem expresses his hatred towards his mother is a... WELL mannered way...
Just Lose It: 1/5: Just lose this song, I tell you!
When I'm Gone: 7/10: Okay, but I don't really like Eminem using his heavier rapping voice as much as his 1999-2002 accent.
Stan (live):4/10: Elton John ruins a hip hop classic!
If you love Eminem, you'll love this. Okay, so it's missing some of his other singles.(I don't have the 2 disc edition) I do wish they DID put on some of his other good singles such as Superman, Just Don't Give a F**k, Mosh, Forgot About Dre(too bad it's under Dr. Dre's name...) and a couple others. If you want to get all of them then buy his 4 previous albums and the 8 mile sountrack(although it's a waste of money in case you dislike a lot of the songs). You could also buy the Notorious B.I.G.s song off itunes same with Jay Z's Renegrede, and Dr. Dre's Forgot about Dre of get the 2001 album cause Em stars on that numerous times as well. But like I said, all his major stuff is here. I hope you enjoy it like I did.
Em's Hits.......2006-09-16
If you have just got into Eminem than his greatest hits would be a great place to start. Of course these are not his only good songs, his solo albums are full of goodness.
