BEATS : 10/10 (sampling of record scratches )
Lyrics : 9/10

It's pure aggressiveness integrated and turned mentally on the outside of the psychic apparatus !!!
For this reason, it is recommended by my clinic eye to all the rap fans of the winning, healthily sadistic Hip Hop !!!

As far as i see it, there best work was "All we got is us". After that, they started sliding down ever since and it started with this album. While Shut'em down Remix, The Worst, and Raze it up were the best songs on the CD, while the others either sounded like they was trying too hard to bring back the style they showed on the second album or they came off soft on other songs that had singing in them and that's not them. To me, this was the beginning of the end for them as far as them being a force on the hip hop scene.

Shut Out.......2005-12-28

Onyx's third release, Shut 'Em Down was an attempt to do just that and showed no signs of mercy or giving up. Fredro Starr took a step back from producing as done on All We Got Iz Us, but didn't take it anything away from the potency. "Raze It Up" begins this album off similar to "Throw Your Guns In The Air". Not forgetting their essence of their style and sound, "Street Nigguz" featuring X-1. The title track featuring DMX is a good example of their lyrical potency with their rapid fire delivery over a horn laced track. The bald heads speak of the industry and how it has blessed them on "Broke Willies" featuring X-1. "Rob & Vic" featuring X-1 & Chocolate is a highlight for this LP as Sticky Fingaz & X-1 spit a story of brothers robbing and stealing with an unhappy ending over the love of money. Keeping their rough edge, "Face Down" with the eerie space sounds each member stood grounds for Queens. The mediocre production of "Black Dust" featuring X-1 was strengthened by the flows. They take it to the club with the up-tempo track "React" featuring X-1, 50 Cent & Still Livin and "Ghetto Starz" featuring Lost Boyz. Multi-laced violins stood out for a melodic set-up story on "Veronica" featuring X-1 & Sunshine. Track 18 contains two songs "The Worst" featuring Method Man, Raekwon, Killer Sin & X-1 and "Overshine". Shut 'Em Down is a solid LP with a lot of surprises, but the lyrics are most impressive.

Pure Greatness.......2005-07-12

This has to be one of the best Onyx CD released. Their First two Albums were incredible also. I wouldnt waste my time with Bacdafucup PT. 2 or Trigganometry, they are just horrible. This on the otherhand is great. Awesome guest artists great beats and incredible Lyrics. I'm into the Metalcore/Hardcore music now but I always end up listening to this cd when i get in the mood for a good rap album. Onyx was one of the greatest. I feel kind of bad that they went down hill with their last two releases

Onyx dropped 3 5 star classic albums: BACDAFUCUP, All We got iz us and Shut 'Em Down.

So rare artists can drop 3 classic albums, even a skit on here talks about Onyx falling off. After Big DS left I didn't think the cd's would be as good. Bacdafucup with DS on it is easily their best ever album.

But Shut em down doesnt drop all that much, it has some decent beats over good lyrics still. And there is not as much screaming as Bacdafucup unfortunently. BUY ONYX BUT NOTHING FROM D3 ENTERTAINMENT.
