Can growing bank accounts and artistic integrity co-exist in Chingy's world? It's a question that begs for an answer on Powerballin', considering he's become a multi-platinum solo seller and not just a Ludacris accessory. A very large chunk of studio time is given over to expounding on his newfound wealth: on "Give Em Some Mo" he's a "young Donald Trump," and on "I Do" he reminds listeners about his new cars (Caprice, Range Rover with spinners, Impala). Fair enough--you have it, you flaunt it. But devoting a whole song ("26's") to the size of his car rims is a bit disturbing. The interesting thing is that numbers like "Balla Baby" are legitimate heat-seeking dance-floor winners, as his breakout smash "Right Thurr" was. But guest shots by R. Kelly and Janet Jackson don't add much to the effort, and when Chingy objectifies young women in the worst way--literally conversing with a body part on "Make That Ass Talk"--it's clear that he needs to refocus his lyrics to match the great beats that are here. --Dalton HigginsCustomer Reviews:
OH NO NOT ANOTHER WACK CD FROM CHINGY.......2007-02-07
Two Star Average...Hahaha.......2006-10-23
If you want good rap, go for N.W.A., Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, and anything the members in those bands have done. For talented music in general, go for Between The Buried and Me, Unearth, Chimaira, Necrophagist, Dying Fetus, Aborted, The Black Dahlia Murder, Despised Icon, Darkest Hour, Meshuggah, Cryptopsy, basically anything that I give good reviews on.
Horrible. Just Plain Horrible........2006-08-08
Bottom line: there is no reason why you should buy this album. Like I said, even if you absolutely adore rap and hip hop in all its forms, you most likely will not find any songs on here worth listening to even once. You'll just find it covered in dust in your closet years from now and retch with disgust that you actually dropped full CD price for such a worthless waste of materials. For rap that actually warrants more than one listen, try Busdriver or Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, who actually have lyrical prowess and interesting flow. For good music in general, listen to great metal bands like Children of Bodom and Blind Guardian, and maybe even some classical composers like Dvorak and Beethoven. Those artists have/had more creative talent in a single atom than Chingy has in his whole body. This CD gets no points whatsoever. I would also give 0 stars to it, but Amazon has not yet realized that 1/5 means that there's at least a shred of quality on it, but this album doesn't even deserve it.
0/10
Mills all the Way.......2006-08-05
As for this album, well, if generic beats and asinine, childish "gangsta" lyrics are your thing, then your obviusly self-induced retarded.
Anything is better than this, even a cat being strangled.
First album to get an average score as low as 2 stars.......2006-07-15
Now to put this average score of 2 into context - this means that the proportion of "hataz" reviewing this album is even more than the proportion of fans reviewing it. Out of all the terrible albums I have viewed, I have never seen this happen before. Not even to bands as terrible as Limp Bizkit or even An*l C*nt. This obviously indicates a decline in fan numbers and, hopefully, the end of Chingy's 15 minutes of fame.
