5 out of 5 stars Mind saver.......2007-07-07

I ordered this disk during my first deployment to Mosul,Iraq, it set me on a mental highway away from chaos and depression. Erykah Badu has always delivered the mental elixirs and she continues the mix with this CD. Her voice is trancing and the bass, samples and overall sound production is of the best quality. This Worldwide Underground CD strokes the stem of consciousness enabling you to relax and emerce into the fabric of the underground.

4 out of 5 stars back in the day.......2007-06-27

I really had not paid this cd any attention until one day,at a friend pool party it was playing. From listerning to it then I knew i like it this a good cd.

5 out of 5 stars I enjoyed this CD.......2007-06-14

When this CD came out I have to admit I was kind of expecting what we've heard from her before. However, once I heard it I found myself bumping to most of the songs on the album. Very good.

4 out of 5 stars Ms Badu; the High Priestess of neo-soul.......2007-03-29

I've been a fan of Ms Badu since day one and I'd always wanted to get this CD. I just never seemed to get around to it. But then I saw her perform "Back In The Day (Puff)" on stage on Dave Chappelle's Block Party (Unrated Widescreen Edition) and I knew the time had come.

It's a brilliant set with Erykah doing what she does best, presiding over the neo-soul and hip-hop beats like some kind of musical & spiritual high priestess. The first couple of tunes (including the wonderful "Intro - World Keeps Turnin'"); "Bump It", "Back In The Day (Puff)", "I Want You", "Woo", "The Grind" and "Danger" are simply flawless, in my opinion.

Things get rather ropey towards the end though, and her version of "Think Twice" is not even half as good as the Donald Byrd original. I've always believed that if you're going to do a cover, you need to bring something new (if not better) to the party or there's really no point bothering. And "Love Of My Life Worldwide" with Angie Stone and Queen Latifah is just awful.

Still, she ends on a positive note. "Outro - World Keeps Turnin'" is just a reprise of the intro but it's so good it's worth hearing twice. Besides, it does sound like the latter part of the album was recorded live in front of an audience - but I could be wrong - in which case, aforementioned ropiness is well and truly forgiven.

Cool CD, all in all. I like it. I read somewhere that this is supposed to be an EP and not a full album. It sounds like a full album to me and a pretty decent one at that.

She's due a new one anytime soon, surely?

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The Best Worldwide........2007-07-24

You know what you're getting with anything by Anjunabeats, consistent quality, great tracks and high production value. This first (in a hopefully to be continued) Worldwide Series features one CD mixed by Super 8 and Tab and one by Mark Pledger. More importantly look at what you're getting in the track listing and you'll see what you're getting: two great tracks by Above & Beyond, two great tracks by Daniel Kandi and commendable efforts by Maor Levi ("Reflect"), Andy Moor and Orkidea ("Year Zero"), Mark Pledger ("On the Edge"), Mike Shiver ("Morning Drive"), Nitrous Oxide ("Morning Light") and two stunners by Sunny Lax ("Blue Bird" and "M.I.R.A").
The mixing is pretty consistent in both CDs. What is the noticeable difference between the two? Disc one contains vocal numbers (especially male vocals), while CD two doesn't. However they work in their own ways.
CD 1 starts with two enjoyable electro influenced numbers (including another good Jaytech release) that, in my opinion, are upfront and energetic and get your ready the real sonic journey that takes place between tracks 3 and 8. "Year Zero" is another predictably good song with Andy Moor (and I've yet to hear anything bad by Mr. Moor)and Orkidea and it continues this nice vibe with two great songs by Super 8 and Tab with good male vocals, and very enjoyable number by Above and Beyond "World on Fire. It then explodes with Daniel Kandis smasher "Child" and then continues this energy with the rapid fire vocal on David West's "Make U Mine" and Super 8 and Tabs "Won't Sleep Tonight". Tracks 9-13 lose this great energy for some reason at the end (Disc 2 does this to) but not to worry the tracks are all great, especially Stephen J. Kroos's "Sadistick," Kyau and Albert's addictively catchy "Are You Fine" and a very nice closer in "Blue Bird."
On Disc 2 "Sex on the Beach" is an interesting song, but the disc doesn't really begin until track 2 with another great Daniel Kandi number "Nova" follower by another great Sunny Lax number "M.I.R.A", tracks 5 and 6 keep it moving but it isn't until the glory of Above and Beyond's "Tri-State" that the CD really gets back on track. "Tri-State" was the song I was really dying for a remix of and the finally released a mix CD with this one by Robert Nickson (another great mix of this is the Frase mix). Only problem is that Mark Pledger cut this song too short in my opinion. But all is forgotten when we reach Mark Pledger own contribution "On the Edge" and this continues into the beautiful "Morning Drive" by Mike Shiver and Nitrous Oxide's "Morning Light." However, again, by the end at track 11 this vibe is lost. Again the songs are good but they don't fit in well with the rest of the CD.
Bottom Line: If you are a fan of Anjunabeats in particular or good trance in general this is a CD you want in your collection. However if this is your first Anjunabeats album, don't get this. Instead get Above and Beyond's Anjunabeats 5 which is simply mindblowing. If you already have Anjunabeats and want another great mix by some up and coming DJs on the Anjunabeats label, then you've come to the right place. Get this.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent compilation for fans of Above & beyond........2007-02-02

This was an album i stumbled across, but bought it as soon as i saw it was from Anjunabeats. They are responsible for Above & Beyond, and in my opinion push new artists more than any other dance label. The main difference is the quality of every track they decide to put onto each album. There never seems to be any filler tracks, just quality dance tracks. If you like Above & Beyond, but have all their albums and are looking for something new along those lines, this double disc is perfect. Disc 2 is really amazing from a Dj you will definately hear more from. Mark Pledger.

4 out of 5 stars You can't go wrong with Anjunabeats!.......2007-01-28

I was just recently introduced to the Anjunabeats label and since then I have ordered Volume Three, Volume Four, and Tri-State in their first series, and now Volume One in their Worldwide series. IMHO this is one of the best labels in trance today, and as I said in the title line, you can't go wrong with these trance compilations.

If I were to rate the CDs individually, I would give CD1 4 stars and CD2 4 1/2 stars. CD1 started out with a house track followed by a techno track that didn't appeal to me. It did have some excellent standouts, namely "Year Zero" (by Andy Moor), "World On Fire" (by Above & Beyond), "Child" (by Daniel Kandi), "Won't Sleep Tonight" (by Super8 & Tab), and "Untitled Audio" (by Mike Koglin vs. P.O.S.), and a stunning closer in "Blue Bird" (by Sunny Lax).

CD2 was a notch better, with excellent high energy and melodic trance throughout most of the CD. The only tracks that really disappointed me were the last two, for they were quite "hard," and didn't fit in with the rest of the album. Tracks 1-4 were very good, followed by 2 mediocre numbers, and then starting with track 7 we are treated to a string of 6 tracks that defy description; they are soooo good. I just loved Robert Nickson's remix of Above & Beyond's "Tri-State" (it was much more energetic than the original mix). When the piano kicks in one is reminded of Robert Miles' immortal hit "Children." This track is followed by Mark Pledger's "On The Edge," a very refreshing number, and the energy continues to build with more "ear candy" on tracks 9-12. Again, it was too bad Mr. Pledger chose to end his excellent mix with 2 "hard" trancers that didn't jibe with the previous tracks, but I will forgive him because of the smile he brought to my face up to that point.

3 out of 5 stars Lauren Wood.......2002-03-08

Bought this CD for a special song and loved hearing all the songs Lauren sings to on this cd. It's great to play during a dinner or when some friends are over.

5 out of 5 stars No duds in the bunch.......2000-05-31

Lauren Wood, best known for her hit "Fallen" has put together an album of a dozen songs that takes this reviewer on a trip back to the Beatles. With at least 4-5 real hits waiting to don the airwaves, there are no duds in the bunch whatsoever. The ballad Back in Time, is so heart wrenching, it almost hurts to listen to the words. The Beatles influence is so strong, it was a little spooky. You can hear McCartney bass lines with that distinct melodic tone as well as Lennon-type vocals and guitar. Her voice is what makes the album complete. At times she's a deep contralto, other times she sings thin wispy BV's that blend with the music perfectly. The levels of musicalnship is very high. When was the last time you heard a cymbal cresando with mallets played this well (in the sure hit "Back in Time")? Look for the hits to be 1)"The Big House" song about subdivisions buring like the Amazon 2)" Back in time" - tear-out-your-heart ballad. 3) "I'm Usually Obsessed" - chicken-picken (dang near Country-Funk) guitar 4) "Twisted Reality" -complete w/ that trademark Hofner Beatle bass. Must listen Bruce

5 out of 5 stars She's back, thank god........2000-04-14

Lauren Wood is one of those rare women, she has both talent and voice, and proves that she can belt with the best. Using reflections of her life, Lauren digs deep into her soul, and comes up with many fabulous tracks. Check out her web site. It's great. Glad to have you back, and hope for many more fantastic CD's from the best singer ever, period!

1 out of 5 stars Lauren Wood.......2000-04-04

If you liked the cool jazzy sound of "Please Don't Go" and "Fallen" from Lauren Wood in the 1980s, you probably won't like the standard rock 'n' roll instrumentals and lyrics of this new album. The bonus track of "Fallen" simply doesn't belong with the twelve new tracks. I'm sad to see such a bendable voice as Wood's get lost in all too familiar rock licks. She can do so much in modulating her voice, that to hear thse songs indicates a loss of direction for her. I hope she'll return to what made her distinctive.

It would be cynical to accuse Everything but the Girl of coasting on Worldwide--especially when the album contains such songs as "Talk to Me Like the Sea" and "Twin Cities." But the bulk of this album finds the duo falling prey to the easy-listening sappiness that's always a danger for those who make loungey acoustic pop. If there were but one or two EBTG albums out there, this one would be a necessity for fans of Tracey Thorn's heavenly voice, but as there are plenty of stronger albums to choose from (check out Idlewild or Amplified Heart), Worldwide is better left for completists. --Randy Silver

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Their Best Album.......2007-02-08

I bought this from Amazon because I lost the original one. Well, of course I found it after I rec'd this one! This is my favorite of EBTG's albums. I now have one for work and one for home.
This album is difficult to find and it is NOT on iTunes, so grab a copy and enjoy. It is mellow, fun and original. I am not a fan of the "dance mixes" that EBTG made later on. Get this one instead. You won't be sorry!

Love it!

4 out of 5 stars Music a bit dated, but great lyrics!.......2005-11-17

I've liked this band since 1990. True, the music is a little 80's, but the lyrics are great. 'Old friends' makes me think of when I was a single gal in NY, and 'Understanding' is a sweet serenade to a love that's stood the test of time. 'British summertime' chokes me up, a recollection of our innocence during childhood. And as they did on 'language', Ben Watt's voice invites us to put our head on his shoulder and appreciate the simple pleasures.

'Worldwide' is like an old photo album, a tribute to good friends and great loves. I would love to hear these songs played on less-dated instruments. The musical arrangements damaged 'talk to me like the sea' and made 'twin cities' nearly unlistenable. It sounds like it should be playing on 'Charles in Charge'.

Still, you can't beat good lyrics, and 'Worldwide' has them.

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful overlooked gem!.......2005-04-25

I can't understand how this wonderful album has languished in obscurity since it's release 14 years ago. "Worldwide" is arguably my favorite album by Tracey and Ben during their pre-dance incarnation and for so many reasons. The title is absolutely perfect as it aims to bring up images of places all over the globe and it succeeds with songs like "Twin Cities", "Frozen River" and the heavenly "Talk To Me Like The Sea" (Love the title too). This is highly recommended and is a classic in my book!

5 out of 5 stars Happy to be...home........2001-11-06

I strongly recommend this CD if you liked Amp-Heart. It is solid , smooth, emotional, and has a kick as well. I think as time goes by listeners will realize this CD was anything but a step back. On the contrary the piano, soft guitars and hint of drum machines is so well balanced that one listen through is never enough. I won't be like the lover Tracy sings about in the farewell song, ...you always loved the sad songs, like you loved it when I lost...So I don't tell you when I'm happy, 'cause it only makes you cross. Man that's good. And I'm happy I own WORLDWIDE.

3 out of 5 stars great album, poor sound quality.......2001-06-16

I also reviewed the Limited Edition/import version. The US version (at least the copy I got when the album was new) always sounded overly harsh to me. I found the European pressing in the mid 1990's and found that it enabled me to enjoy this album much more. The fairly recently remastered Japanese version is also good.

I wonder whether some people's dislike of this album is related to the poor mastering in the US. It is an example of the worst of digital, what many vinyl-philes pointed to when saying that cd was so inferior to vinyl. Good cd's can sound very good; this, however, sounds harsh.

I love this album, though, and it remains one of my favorites by EBTG. What I don't particularly care for is their current direction - - with each successive album, EBTG is becoming less and less interesting to me. Their music is being taken over by machines. They don't even really perform on their latest album but just remix other people's songs! This is what musically creative talents do in the 21st century? (Sigh.)

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Christian Rock.......2007-06-28

It is hard to go wrong with Audio Adrenaline. This CD is another fine example of that.

A great rockin' sound, positive lyrics, and Mark Stuart's unique vocals combine into an excellent album. There are a number of very good songs. Two of them are absolutely superb: Leaving Ninety-nine and Ocean Floor.

In addition to this album, I highly recommend their album 'Audios'. If you don't have any CD by Audio Adrenaline, I would recommend getting 'Audios' first. As it is a greatest hits album, it is total quality throughout.

5 out of 5 stars Easily my favorite Audio A. album.......2006-02-04

This is one album that is best listened to as a whole; every song builds on the last and complements it so well. Of the 2 "Worldwide" tracks, I prefer "Two," but the song that made my jaw hit the ground was "Miracle." This is a simply beautiful song regarding the miracle of losing your prominence in this life and realizing that it's actually better that way. Very poignant song; a must-hear for anyone needing encouragement in their faith. "Church Punks" is another great one, asking Christian youth to stand up and be counted as one of His. Similarly, "Dirty" invites us to live our faith and not be afraid of getting dirty for Christ. I could go on like this for every song, but you get the idea. This album is very lyrically intricate and just fun to listen to, like all Audio A. albums. You can't get much better than this!

5 out of 5 stars Great.......2005-11-08

These guys are proof that Christian bands can really rock. This album was my introduction to AA, and I'm very pleased with it. Although I haven't really taken a look at some of their other albums, I think I might. So if you're into rock at all, pick this one up. Not only do they sound great, but their lyrics always have a good message, which makes it all the more worthwhile. My favorites include both Worldwides, Leaving 99, and the Ocean Floor Remix. Rock on!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Currently my favorite album.......2005-03-06

Every song on the CD is a hit. It's just an awesome CD. I listen over and over and never get bored.

My favorite song is "Start of Fire". I listen to this to get pumped up to RACE MOTOCROSS. It rocks.

5 out of 5 stars I would proudly give this more stars if possible!!!!.......2005-03-03

Audio Adrenaline is one of my favorite bands ever...they have an awesome CD collection and put on one of the best live shows I have ever seen. I have seen them 6 times, and they are wonderful each time and their CDs are also wonderful. I own each one proudly and play them constantly.

This one is probably one of my favorite AA CD's. I get sucked into this CD the lyrics are wonderful and the music just helps to amplify the wonderful lyrics. It is a CD that you can shout with and sing with and feel great about singing your faith. It is a fun CD with passion and love build in. I just can't say enough good things about his CD. I just feel great each time I pop this CD in...it makes you feel good and raises your spirits. I love every song on this CD none of them are a favorite and non of them do I skip-they are all wonderful! I recommend this CD to any past AA fan and to anyone who likes great music should also own this CD it is a necessity for any music lover!

Amazon.com essential recording

Apart from the various box sets, this two-disc set remains the best basic overview of Elvis Presley's RCA career, spanning every hit single from 1956's "Heartbreak Hotel" through 1970's "Kentucky Rain," which was a hit at the time of this collection's original release. In the days of vinyl, this was considered one of the first box sets--featuring four albums--and even in 1970, the range of styles successfully covered by the King was overwhelming, from pure rock & roll to ancient pop standards ("Are You Lonesome Tonight"); from his "modern" take on country & western ("A Fool Such As I") to outright opera ("It's Now or Never"). This remains a great place to begin for Elvis novices. --Bill Holdship

5 out of 5 stars Terrific Collection Of His Greatest Hits!.......2002-08-28

This collection of Elvis songs is perfect for someone who is interested in having the best of his single releases. For those of us who grew up hearing these songs being played as the background to the movie of our everyday lives, each brings back some dusty memories; hitching a ride in a friends reworked '51 Ford and hearing "Jailhouse Rock" for the first time, or driving to Pennsylvania for my older sister's wedding and listening to "Don't be Cruel " as we hurtled down the highway. Yet much of this music came relatively later in his career, which is to say after he returned from the Army after a two year absence doing his patriotic duty.

So we have quite a mixture of different kinds of Elvis music, for what came after he returned was far less edgy and different than it had been before. Now he seemed to stick much more closely to a formulaic kind of song, much more main stream in songs like "Stuck On You, "Good Luck Charm", and "Return To Sender". Which isn't to say they were not good or that we didn't like them. But a lot of what he recorded in the 1963-67 timeframe was a lot like what everyone else was doing, or had been doing, in pop music.

Yet there are some innovative and impressive songs here, such as "It's Now Or Never", which was almost operatic in its delivery. This was a side of Elvis we had never recognized in any of his previous work, and he showed exactly how good a voice he had to work with. So we have quite a range here, from the early work like "Good Rocking Tonight", "Baby, Let's Play House", "All Shook Up", and "Heartbreak Hotel", as well as some softer and more mainstream work like "She's Not You", "Devil In Disguise', and "Suspicious Minds". Anyone giving a good listen to the range on this CD can see just what kind of musical legs this guy had. Enjoy!

1 out of 5 stars The biggest farce in music history; a negative million stars.......2002-08-10

Why would I say that? If you don't know, let me clue you in on the history of popular music:

In the early 1950's, a new form of music was coming out of the black youth culture, later to be known as rock and roll. Artists like Little Richard and Chuck Berry(the real kings of rock and roll) pioneered the art form. Because it was created by and for blacks, it was immediately dismissed by white america as "the devil's music" and to be eradicated. The mid 50's ushered in a new(and repackaged) form of rock and roll; in other words, a " lighter" singer out of Memphis, Tennessee came out and was instantly hailed as the King. Yes, you guessed it, Elvis. The first and ultimate industry creation to do black music and become the automatic champion of the art deserves none(that's right, NONE!)of his god like status in this country or this world. Now why would you called him the king if he hasn't earned the crown? Was he the best songwriter? No!(The majority of his hits were written by Earl Robinson, a BLACK man); was he the best guitarist? No!(that goes to Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton or Stevie Ray Vaughn);was he the greatest preformer? Hell, no!(that goes to Michael Jackson; Elvis wasn't even the greatest of his era!) My point is that elvis is a phoney, and one day the world will realize that.

5 out of 5 stars If You Can Only Buy One Elvis CD, Get This One!.......2000-12-16

If you're looking for the Bible on Early Elvis, this is it. The greatest compilation of his hits from the 50's to the 70's, from the soulful "Heartbreak Hotel" to the stand up and dance "Jailhouse Rock" to the wistful "Suspicious Minds," this CD covers Elvis like no other.

If you grew up while Elvis was in his prime, this will evoke memories long buried. This is truly the soundtrack of your youth with "Wear My Ring Around Your Neck," "Teddy Bear," and more. Fifty great classic Elvis tunes and, as a bonus, there is Elvis speaking during interviews as he was entering the Army.

A must for every Elvis fan and a definite need for any fan of 50s and 60s music.

5 out of 5 stars The King Of Rock N' Roll.......2000-11-11

I've listened to Elvis sing since I was a babe. My father was and still is a die hard Elvis fan. Naturally, I too learned, very quickly, to love Elvis's music. You can say I grew up with this stuff. This double CD album of greatest hits really defines what makes Elvis Presley one of the greatest entertainers of all time. The first disc contains Elvis's music before his army days not including the last two songs. The rock n' roll rebel is underlined in this disc with edgy love ballads like "Heartbreak Hotel", "I Was The One", "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" and "Any Way You Want Me" to upbeat dance tracks like "Hound Dog", "Jailhouse Rock", and "Hard Headed Woman". The first disc is what rock n' roll is all about. A great addition to the first disc at the end of the disc is "Crying In The Chapel" that underlines his Christian faith. This song serves to tell us that even if Elvis was a force to be reckoned with, he was still a religious man with personal convictions. The second disc are songs after his army days up to his untimely death. The songs in it are more main stream that probably expanded his audience from screaming teenage fans to the general public. It features songs before his 'movie career' with songs like "Stuck On You" (my personal favorite)and "It's Now Or Never" to music during his movie days with songs like "Can't Help Falling In Love", "Return To Sender", and "Kissin' Cousins", and after his movie days with his return to his country roots and being a full time singer again with songs like "Don't Cry Daddy", "Kentucky Rain", and "Suspicious Minds". This two disc compilation really shows us the transition of his music and it redefines to us what makes this man 'The King of Rock N' Roll'.

5 out of 5 stars A Review In Retrospect.......2000-03-27

This was, and still is, an ultimate compilation album spanning the late 50's thru early 70's of the greatest recording's of Elvis. This compilation offered perhaps the best retrospective & current overview of one, I personally believe THE, greatest recording artist's this past century. With all due respect for varying musical genre's thru the 60's, 70's. 80's etc., this album alone still stand's the test of time & is a fitting tribute to the Ultimate Performer, one Elvis Aron Presley.

4 out of 5 stars The BEST 1990's live-concert Hip-Hop album!.......2007-06-04

Live Hardcore Worldwide--
Released in the spring of 1991, Live Hardcore Worldwide documents several live concert performances by Bronx-based Golden Age rap group Boogie Down Productions. Culled together from performances in the USA, the UK, and France, frontman KRS-One rhymes with much confidence throughout all the selections. He is aided by various members of the `BDP' family of co-vocalists and DJs like Kenny Parker, D-Nice, Ms. Melodie, and Jamal-Ski. However, this was recorded well before videos became a defining element of the music's promotion and also predates the contemporary trend of `posse-heavy' rap shows which leave much to be desired for the rap enthusiast.

A balanced selection of songs is performed from BDP's then-catalog of Criminal Minded, By All Means Necessary, Ghetto Music and Edutainment. "Poetry", "Stop the Violence", "Jack of Spades", "Jimmy", "South Bronx" and more are heard here, bolstered by thankfully competent audio techs (another potential drawback for many rap concerts). Despite the handful of posse members, this is not the rap show where the main person lets someone else do half the rhyming; there is also no lip-synching. The one downside is that some songs are only performed in excerpted form. There are a couple of unreleased songs performed here, like "The Eye-Opener", which makes this more than just a live-greatest-hits disc. If this was to be re-released, it should include a DVD with the concert footage.

5 out of 5 stars NEVER Be ANOTHER!!!.......2006-08-05

I got this cassette when it first came out and have never heard anything like it, and NEVER will. Back then I was rockin' it on my small box with 30 watts and it was STILL LIVE. I'm listening to that same cassette now, 2006. This was creation from above. KRS & BDP--dem bwoy na play 'round pon dis 1, overstand. Sound-CRISP, Lyrics-CRISP, Riddims-CRISP. De 'ole cassette jus sweet. GOD know.

STRAIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Unbelievable.......2005-02-21

When I was younger I had this on tape and I listened to it over and over until the tape wore out. This is such an incredible example of a case where the live stuff is ten times better than the studio stuff. The unbelievable rawness and delivery of lyrics -- the beats, the melodies, it's all top notch.

Most of the rap I've heard live today sounds very scattered and out of time, where the music and the lyrics sound like they are two things -- not the case with this. This sounds like it all belongs together.

By far the best live rap/hip-hop I've ever heard.

5 out of 5 stars pure niceness..........2003-07-25

I always appreciated BDP, owned their records, know KRS One's lyrics, hooks, etc...but I don't think I really got the importance of this crew until I heard this set...BDP and their peers, the whole the class of '88 (Big Daddy Kane, Marley Marl, Pete Rock, I could go on for days) were as raw ever...not to mention that every great track from this era was full of flavor (THINK the piano sample in Kool G Rap and Polo's Road to Riches)...the fact that you are even reading reviews on this record right now let's me know with almost 99% certainty you'll quickly understand what I am talking about the second you hear this...dancehall fans watch out for the kuff, stalag, death in the arena riddims, as well as '9MM' over an answer version, and one of my favorites, the koloko...bottom line: this is the blueprint...

5 out of 5 stars The Greatest Live Hip Hop Album Ever, PERIOD.......2001-02-08

I listened to this when I had it on tape so many times, the tape wore out and I had to buy another one. It is a compilation of live KRS-1/BDP concerts in NY, Europe, London, ect. KRS-1 is a better MC live than on CD. And that is not a disrespect in the least because on CD he is still the greatest. The only way he would lose in a rhyme battle is if he battled himself. Side A is better than side B, but both are dope. The first 15-20 minutes are so hype, especially when they make the transition from "Jack of Spades" to "My Philosophy", this is so hype that at times it has caused me to lose control of my bodily functions. Another hype part is his freestyle over the "I am still #1 beat". The bottom line is: If you could only buy one KRS-1/BDP album, BUY THIS ONE! If you don't like this one, maybe you should start listening to guns and roses. This album gets a 5 (almost a 6!) on the Mark D hype scale. (See the "More About Me" section for more details on the scale.)

4 out of 5 stars Very Good.......2006-07-14

One of Judge Jules best albums. This time it is not completely hard trance like some of the older albums, but it has several great vocal songs.

I recommend this CD to all trance music fans.

4 out of 5 stars Great Debut.......2006-05-25

I'll be honest, I was expecting the Judge's first solo album (Check out "Hi-Gate - Split Personality" for Jules's earlier project with Yomanda's Paul Masterson, great album)to be a sell-out cheesefest designed to sell a million copies to the main stream top 40 clubbers... I was wrong. I really, really liked this CD, Jules has rather than sell out proved he's a worthy producer as well as a legendary DJ. I'm not a huge fan of vocal trance unless it's done right, and I'll be honest there are a couple tracks here that border on cheese, but the music saves the tracks. Only 5 of the 12 tracks have vocals, that may or may not be a selling point for you. The CD is unmixed(also a surprise)and the majority of the tracks are at least 6 minutes long only 3 dropping below that and they're still at least 5:30 to 5:45. My personal favorite tracks "Alma Fe"(has a touch of the Hi-Gate sound), & "Puesta Del Soul"(Absolutely Bangin') like I said, they're all pretty good though. If you're a Trance fan, you're gonna want to check this one out, you'll dig this CD, sorry for ever doubting you Jules.

1 out of 5 stars jesus christ get a life.......2006-01-12

there's so much great music out there and you sad sad people are listening to music devoid of any talent. Devoid of everything, in fact, except schmaltz and happy-clappy God-bothering. Whatever you think is good about this album (and even God doesn't know what there is), find some real music. Try 'Imagine' by John Lennon for a start

5 out of 5 stars Tremendous. YEAH!.......2005-02-25

Great CD.

I love this Genie music.

THis is the best stuff for kids.

Unlike a lot of the other junk on the market, Scripture ROck really wows my family.

I like it even better than the old Schoolhouse Rock stuff.

1 out of 5 stars Fraudulent!.......2004-09-21

I ordered this CD and "Scripture Rock" because reviews strongly implied it was the same folks who made "Schoolhouse Rock". It's not the same people at all! This music is awful! I really wish that I had checked the credits more closely before I wasted my money on this worthless drivel. It's not even useful for Bible study because my daughter refuses to listen to it at all! Shame on whoever is responsible for marketing these CDs. Now that I have looked more closely, the supposed connection between these CDs and "Schoolhouse Rock" is clearly trickery by those who stand to profit from "Scripture Rock". Depception is shameful and un-Christian. And on top of that, the music is terrible.

5 out of 5 stars PLAYS GREAT!.......2004-07-08

THis CD totally rocks and plays great in my CD player!

My whole family is jumping all over the room!

GET IT!

GET SCRIPTURE!

GET ROCKED!

2 out of 5 stars CD won't play in my player (CD-R?).......2004-04-07

This CD and another by the same artist will not play in my CD player which doesn't read CD-R's. When I play it in a boom box it will work. The songs just don't appeal to my children or our youth group. The song lyrics are well written but the tunes themselves are not catchy to the kids. They seem to like Colin Buchannan's Aussie Praise collection much better. Amazon doesn't sell it but cbd.com does. Great Effort though by this couple.
