The Villain In Black Returns Fo The 9Eight.......2007-03-28

MC Ren comes back for his fourth album just 2 years after The Villain In Black. Unfortunately, this is the only album of his I have as of Mar. 2007. But I gotta say it knocks all the way thru. Ren still kicks those tales of his Compton set just like he did with NWA. Even though he reps CPT to the fullest, the beats are just as Bay Area, and even Down South, as they are LA. Ant Banks laces fire on "N---a Called Ren," and "All The Same" with those melodic space boogie beats he's well known for. T-Mixx, of Suave House fame in Texas and Memphis creates heat on 3 songs (1/4 the album!): 1)"Who In The F---" (f/ 8Ball/MJG), 2)"Voyage To Compton"(what an awesome laid-back G-Funk smoker), and 3) "Must Be High." All Three slap with that down south funk flava. LT Hutton, Young Tre, Tha Chill,and a few others lace up some L.A. Flava on the remainder of the album. The beats are G-Funk with a syrupy taste. The production for the most part is awesome, even though I am not crazy about the beat on "So Whatcha Want." Ren still kills all the tracks with that gangsta flow. Definitely worth the scrill.

You guys really didnt like this album? OK. Even though this album was the last album Ive heard from Mc Ren, I was not dissapointed with it at all. In fact I'll show you how much Im not dissapointed with it. Standout Tracks: RUTHLESS FOR LIFE, WHO IN THE F***(killer collabo with 8ball& MJG), COMIN AFTER YOU(solid connection with Ice Cube), VOYAGE TO COMPTON(I swear the guy on the hook sounds like Ronald Isley), MUST BE HIGH, SO WATCHA WANT, WHO GOT THAT STREET S***, PIMPIN IS FREE(minus Peeps wack verse), CPT ALL DAY(crazy song to end a good album with). Filler: Shot Caller is the only song Im not too fond of. Complaints: No conscious songs on here like Mc Ren had on his other albums. Bottom Line: Great production, great lyrics and songs that have a strong replay value. Ruthless For Life is a classic minus what the these trash ragazines have to say about it. Mc Ren's punchlines and barbs are humorous whille he bashes rap clones into submission. Case in point:/Them n***as be bitchin cause I wont let em on my team/ and give em a title like Hakeem/ I peel their caps like tangerines/LOL! I would still listen to this album any day regardless of how The Sauce(XXL clone)and XXLAX(The Source clone, confusing isnt it?) feels.

I like ren I only heared clips of this album but I wont to get it but were I'am from they only have kiss my black azz I have not heared shock of the horror but I think this is the best album comp this cuz I'am.

REN is very proud to be the lesser known !UNDERGROUND! member of "N.W.A" & this album "RUTHLESS FOR LIFE" displays that. you see, if you can be as sucsessful & remembered as he has & still stay true to who & what you are(UNDERGROUND)well thats better then being a huge & famous FAKE PRANGSTA like another member of "N.W.A" that we all no so well!?(dr dre)!?!??? you can also see in this album how much REN respected,looked up to & loved "EAZY-muthaphu**en-E!(i mean look at the title of the album)! he calls out to EAZY more than once on this album & as a huge EAZY fan myself its just a bonus to see EAZY get the respect he so very much deserves. REN & YELLA were the only ones from back n the day that stayed true & stuck with EAZY & RUTHLESS & as a true GANGSTA RAP GENRE loving fan i give them nothing but the up most respect for that!!!!! with that said in my opinion MC REN'S "RUTHLESS FOR LIFE" is one of the top 10 greatest WESTCOAST STYLE "G" albums of all time!!! Da Villain is Back.......2004-12-09

Back one more time for one part of the world's most dangerous crew, N.W.A. MC Ren delivers what he is known for, simple lyrics that are vulgar (to say the least), and that's what made him famous in the late 80's, so why switch? Straight gangsta in his lyrics through th ewhole album. Lyrically he is average but he tells good tales and he's vulgar. Beats are pretty good on the album and are handled by 8 different producers (most notably LT Hutton & Ant Banks). Has 4 of the 12 songs with guests. No classics but no weak tracks, one can listen from track 1 to 12 without skipping a song. A must have album for his fans.

I can't agree with the first review mc ren is one of the best rappers ever and way underated, and it has to be said this is some of his best work, gut is even better in 'hello' check the nwa album when it comes out, peace.

mc ren,aka lorenzo patterson wasnt even the best rapper in NWA but he was still pretty good.his delivery is a little outdated and his rhymes , as always , are weak---but its still better than will smith or puffy and he is one of the godfathers of gansta sooo-4 stars 4 that crazyazz nigga

Ren is without doubt the greatest of the N.W.A-crew. He beats Ice Cube in lyrical fitness (even though Cube is a fine rapper too) and handles the mic better than Eazy-E or Dr Dre. I'm not saying that E and Dre are bad, though. MC Ren is one of Compton's finest!
