Directly from the dangerous BRONX (NYC), these beats are for the dischotheque and for the really ghetto streets life in NYC !!!
It's difficult to reconcile the 2 things, but when you are skilful like Peter Gunz and Lord Tariq, this is not impossible !!!!
Please don't pay attention to the reviewers that consider this record a flop !!! According to me they envy these 2 rappers the style !!!
This record is ONE OF THE BEST HIP-HOP MUSIC IN ALL THE HISTORY OF THE RAP !!!
If you don't own it, you miss a great style of lyrics and wonderful beats !!!
I hope that these 2 guys will be together in the future for a new album !!!

Not Bad.......2006-05-10

Even thou these dudes fall off hardcore, and you don't hear about them at all anymore, this cd is still pretty tight. Of course "Uptown Baby" is a tight track, and they're some others. So if you can spot this one, in the used section or something, you might want to check it out.

Ok I mean at first when it came out I didnt like it but its OK now I mean really I couldnt stand club music in 97 but know Ive learned that all club music doesnt get played on the radio and I have learned to love some of it but anyway if you like up tempo beats you will like this but this is a good party Cd

When Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz released "Déjà vu (Uptown Baby)" back in 1998, folks ate it up; claiming it was the best rhymes anyone's heard in a while. That was just the scheme needed for people to buy their album (although few people actually did). I was one of those people, and when I listened to it, I thought it was pretty decent for a debut album. But then I listened to it again and...well, it's just boring.

The only other standout track on this album is "We Will Ball". Now, if you have an album with 19 tracks, and the only memorable ones are the singles, then there's a serious problem. There are a lot of sluggish tracks like the obligatory (back then) end-of-album do-gangstas-go-to-heaven song "My Time To Go", and "Startin' Somethin" (featuring Chauncey Black of BLACKstreet), which is a lazy remake of Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'".

Then the guest stars can't save some of these other tracks, like Fat Joe and Big Punisher on "Cross Bronx Expressway", or Kurupt and Sticky Fingaz on "Massive Heat" (not that I was expecting anything from either one of them). There are also a few songs that feature vocals from 1 Accord. If you're unlucky enough to own the Booty Call soundtrack, you'll know who I'm talking about, but for everyone else, they're good singers with weak material.

This album isn't really wack. It's just weak. Most of the songs really don't grab your attention. And because of this, Tariq and Gunz are probably forgotten memories in the hip-hop world.

This album was sort of a disapointment to me. You all remember the single "Deja Vu", and it was bangin'. BUt sadly, nothing else but the intro was also. Even though these two are great exceptional mc's, this album was sub par. If you absolutely love the singles on the cd, get it. But if you dont you shouldnt get this: Because they all sound the same(cheap production).

THIS IS AN AVERAGE ALBUM WITH A FEW BRIGHT SPOTS........1998-11-15

THIS ALBUM IS ONE OF THE FEW I BOUGHT IN THE SUMMER. IT HAS A PARTY FEEL TO IT, EVEN THOUGH LT & PG TRY TO GET BOUT IT WHEN PAIRED WITH THE TERROR SQUAD ON CROSS BRONX EXPRESSWAY, AND KURUPT AND STICKY FINGAZ ON MASSIVE HEAT. THEIR STYLE MAKES PEOPLE WANT TO GET OUT AND START A RAVE, NOT A RIOT. MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE WHOLE ALBUM HAS TO BE THE PRECIPITATION INTERLUDE. IT HAS AN OUT COLD BEAT AND PETER GUNZ HAS A TIGHT FLOW WHEN HE SPEEDS UP HIS DELIVERY.
