The Last "Official" Fat Joe Album....3.5 Stars.......2007-03-23

After 2 successful gems(Da Gangsta Represent and Jealous One's Envy)....the fat one may have possibly put out his last "good" album with 1998's Don Cartagena....backed by quite possibly every A-list producer at the time and guest appearances by everyone who was well established in the game might make this a gem to the minds of many. However, unlike its 2 predecessors, I found this one alot more to be desired after track 2(The Crack Attack). However, the posse cuts "Triz" and "Terror Squadians" are 2 of the best posse cuts I have heard in quite sometime there is evidence of Joe falling into the "let me brag on how much money I have....glitz and glamour category" that has was becoming the talk of the town during the late 90's. It's unfortunate that many mainstream artists change with the times no matter how long they have been around. However, Joe still maintains a very decent flow on this album and Terror Squad's guest appearances may be what keeps this release above water.

Taking three long years out of the game, Fat Joe finally returns with his third solo album, "Don Cartagena" in 1998. The follow-up to his 1995 classic, "Jealous One's Envy," Fat Joe is out to prove once again he is one of the greatest New York rappers to ever grace the mic. Can this album follow in the same path as his last release or will it fail to live up to the hype?

Wow Fat Joe released another classic album with this release. The production is all banging and Fat Joe's flow is just awesome. He does have lots of guest features on here and he only has two solo tracks but every track is good or great. Check it out if your a fan of his, Terror Squad or New York rap.

Fat Joe - Don Cartagena .......2006-03-19

Fat Joe (AKA Joe Cartagena) third album was "Don Cartagena" (1998). The original Terror Squad members (Big Pun, Prospect, Armageddon, Cuban Link, Triple) are featured throughout this release and guest appearances which numerous on this release, coming from Jadakiss, Noreaga, Nas, Raekwon, Puff Daddy, Charli Baltimore & Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. After the intro, Fat Joe gets things started on solo with "The Crack Attack". The Bronx's Fat Joe then collaborates with Big Pun (R.I.P.) & Prospect for the impressive "Triplets", a grimy cut where everyone comes on point. Pun and Joe team up for another standout with "My World". The albums biggest collaboration features Nas, Raekwon, Jadakiss and Pun on "John Blaze". Cuban Link steals the show while leading the way and talking to women on the upbeat "Bet Ya Man Can't" (Triz). My favorite track on this one is easily the exceptional "The Hidden Hand", backed by some memorable production the whole Terror Squad shine on this cut delivering memorable verses - one of their best tracks in my opinion. Layzie & Krayzie Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony collab with Fat Joe on the laidback and positive "Good Times". The Terror Squad reunites for the closer "Terror Squadians". I also consider Fat Joe an average MC, I feel like the collaborations and production helped elevate "Don Cartagena", Terror Squad MC's shine at times and together, and listening to this one takes me back to better days (The Days before Fat Joe went Pop) when the crews illest Pun was alive and they were all together. 3.5.

his last best album that he made before cool & dre got to his head.......2006-01-29

to me fat joe is an average mc,mainly because he doesn't write his own lyrics but to me this album is hot, mainly because of the production choices,but when you here this album some of the beats that you hear sounds like something big pun would use and it would fit him better,im not hatin on joe but im just saying,this album is hot because this is when big pun was alive and big pun would never let fat joe make garbage like he does now,and this is terror squad first appearance i believe, word of advice joe go back with ditc man at least you would come out with hot songs,recomended for fans of terror squad,fat joe, and big pun. standout tracks are The Crack Attack, and The Hidden Hand

I wasnt at the time expecting this CD to be this good but it is trust JiggaJ and buy!!!!

I think think this is one of the best album I've listened to this year. Fat Joe definitely deserves a lot of Big Ups for this project! Just tracks 5,6 and 7 would be worth buying the whole CD...

What is hip hop coming to?.......1998-10-17

Why is it that every rapper all of a sudden thinks he's in the mafia? They put out a couple of CD's and all of a sudden they're a Don or they think they're Scarface. Hell, why don't they just bite off big silly Star Wars. Fat Joe could be Jabba the hut, Master P could be Darth Vader and Puff Daddy could be Luke Skywalker.
