Disregard the Bad.......2007-01-15

I had never heard of this artist until someone gave me the CD. I started to listen to it, and liked it so much I wanted more music by him. Thank goodness I didn't read these reviews first. I would have assumed his music was bad.

I think he has an awesome voice. The music is not too slow and has a nice beat. And there is nothing wrong with singing about heartbreak. I would prefer that over some of the dirtier lyrics out there. That is what musicians do. They sing about what is going on in their lives. It's alot better then cookie cutter songs made to do nothing more then please a crowd. I prefer to listen to music with substance.

Mario Winans comes from a family full of musicians. As the son of gospel singer Vickie Winans, Mario has been around music all of his life. His family is the most legendary gospel family to ever enter the music industry. He was also signed to one of the most successful records labels of our time, Bad Boy Records. Sean "Diddy" Combs is a world renowned music producer who has more hits than you can shake a stick at. These facts went through my mind as I listened to Mario's debut album, "Hurt No More", and I just do not understand why his first LP is so horrible. There is absolutely nothing memorable about it. To put it plainly, this album sounds rushed and definitely lacks substance and quality. To make matters worse, this album is focused on a man getting his heart broken, so his lyrics are negative.

"Never Really Was" is a lazy track. The lyrics, production and vocals are all subpar. The chorus is alright, but the song as a whole, I can take it or leave it, and leave it is looking stronger than take it. "Pretty Girl" is anohter example of how weak this album is. This song is about a woman who puts her man through hell, and thinks she can get away with it because she's pretty. Foxy is the only decent sound on this bad song. "You Knew" is the worst song on this lackluster album. It's terrible! It features Slim from 112, and since he and Mario Winans both have whiny voices, it makes this song practically unlistenable. The words "you knew" are repeated throughout the song and it does nothing but irritate the listener. "I Don't Waana Know" was this album's only release. This song is OK. I never really liked it while the radio stations were playing it, and I'm still not crazy about it. This song is about a man not wanting to know if he is being cheated on because it would hurt him too much.

I don't suggest anyone pick this album up, not even Diddy/Bad Boy fans because Diddy usually does a better job than this. But now that I think about it, he was getting his clothing line started and doing many other things when this album was released, so next time he should put some things on the back burner and focus on his artist so he can create the quality work he is infamous for.

Absolutely Horrible.......2005-08-30

Honestly, I wish I would've read the reviews online before purchasing this album. The only half-way good song is "I don't wanna know" all the rest are pretty much sad, sappy, whining, songs that speak about him being "played." At least he could've whinned and sang about other stuff other than being hurt (like Keith Sweat). After all, the title of the cd is "Hurt No More" and all he does is whine about being hurt. Does not sound like the hurt is gone and neither does this album deserve a good review. Please save yourself money and time, this one is a drag.

This is a GOOD CD, obviously NOT the best you'll ever hear, but what the hell is? I never heard of Mr. Winans until the "I dont Wanna Know" debut.

I know music, been writing music for years now. Music is my life. When it comes to buying R&B music, I love to go out in a limb and buy someones CD I've never even heard of, in this case I only heard the one song on the radio.

Now if you DO NOT like this CD or Mario Winans it's because you dont like his style of singing which DOES NOT make him a horrific singer/artist in any way.

His style is in a class of its own which is ONLY a good thing because it makes his work UNIQUE! This is ONLY contains songs about him getting hurt however, so some people say STOP WHINNING. This is a GREAT cd regardless. Id like to see you fools go through a heartbreak and make a better, more real cd.

ALL IN ALL, AWESOME CD. Decide for yourself.

Mario Winans- Good Job.......2004-06-01

This is a good album. I think Mario did a great job as did all the musicians surrounding him. The songs are all pretty good. I especially like "I Don't Wann Know", "3 Days Ago", and "Pretty Girl BS". It may not be the newest innovation within the music world, but it is a great album. 4 stars.
