Chocolate Chip lacks the trademark raps of Hayes classics such as "Theme from Shaft" and "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," but this 1975 album has pretty much all the ingredients of the songs he delivers as South Park's randy Chef: in fact, you'd swear the show's creators copped the backing of "Come Live with Me" from top to bottom for one of the man's own effusions. Solid funk-shading-into-disco with a few obligatory slow grinds included, this isn't the essential Isaac, but it is a fun time-capsule piece. --Rickey Wright

Isaac's transition from soul to disco........2003-09-11

On this 1975 release, Isaac Hayes made a transition from soul to disco. Not as essential or as artistically substantial as his Stax releases but its production values are solid and it has the right blend of ballads and disco tracks.

my mom turned me on to Isaac Hayes early on&I'm glad She did.His Music is a must to have.this Genius has so much flavor on Production&the arranging of His music.you can't ever get tired of hearing this timeless classic.His vocals are right on time.a must.

I love this album and still do. I have it in record form CD. All the songs are great and Isaac's deep bass voice is unmatchable in this style.

I became a "House Music" convert in 83-84. One of the tunes I remember hearing in the Clubs was "Love Can't Turn Around", produced by Farley "Jack Master Funk" Keith. I nearly lost my mind dancing to that tune. When someone sat me down and informed me of Mr. Hayes' original version (7 years later), I couldn't find it on CD. Now I got it, Baby......... And for the shear strength of " I Can't Turn Around", "Chocolate Chip" gets 5 Stars.

Last night a DJ and Isaac Hayes saved my life.

Chocolate Chip was one of our fav albums back in my college years (late '70s). I've been searching for it ever since. I think it's one of Issac's very best.
