5 out of 5 stars Rodney Atkins CD is Must Buy! You Will Not Be Dissappointed.......2005-01-08

I first saw Rodney Atkins at a concert in Seattle, WA in August of 2004...wow what a performer he is. The talent and vocal versatility he displays is amazing. Since purchasing his CD at the concert I have not stopped listening to it over and over again. It is a CD you will not be dissapointed with, you too will be hooked on Rodney after one song. Just an extra tidbit, i gave this CD to a friend for Christmas that does not listen or like country music and she fell in love with him, he is that good.

5 out of 5 stars Honesty is Honest and Refreshing.......2004-11-07

When I bought "Honesty" by Rodney Atkins, I was pleasantly surprised. Alot of times when you buy a CD, the singles are the only good songs. That is definitely NOT the case here. With heartfelt songs such as Honesty, Someone To Share It, and I Will Come To You, it is not without sentiment. On the other hand, it has fun catchy tunes like Sing Along and Monkey In The Middle to round it out. From start to finish, the wonderful marriage of melody and lyric is apparent. Definitely a must have for anyone who loves great, honest music.

this is an incredible mixture of music that I can't stop listening to. Rodneys voice is genuine, heartfelt and warm. This cd is a must for holiday gift giving!!

Dar Williams's success as young '90s folkie isn't hard to discern. She has a consistent lyrical intelligence, an evocative, if sometimes cloying soprano, and a steady, graceful finger-style guitar skill. But, what's more, she has tapped into a yearning for immediacy and sincerity among her college-age (and mostly female) audience. Williams's first record is her sparest, simplest and best. The subject matter ranges from geopolitical fears, family turmoil, and gender angst, and her finest song remains "When I Was a Boy," a story of what it means to become a man or a woman: it should strike any listener with a shock of recognition. --Roy Francis Kasten

5 out of 5 stars Dar Rocks!.......2007-01-14

"The Honesty Room" was Dar Williams' first commercial CD. She is a hippie folk singer for Generation X. The best song on the CD is "When I Was a Boy" about being a tom boy. "The Babysitter's Here" is about being a child and having a great babysitter who has a lousy boyfriend. "Alleluia" has a great melody. Overall, an impressive first CD.

5 out of 5 stars It's Aging Well.......2006-01-19

Dar's debut is utter perfection. Lyrically and musically, this is why Dar Williams became one of the premier folk singers in the U.S. and U.K. after this emerged in 1993 from a studio in Belchertown in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, and the college town of Northampton, where Dar was living when she recorded this little gem. Overlooked, but vastly important to this record's success are the contributions of co-producer Adam Rothberg who adds crucial instrumental accompaniment to nearly every track, including a toy xylophone on "The Baysitter's Here," perhaps the definitive Dar track of all time. One cannot begin to know Dar until one hears this. It's gorgeous, and only gathers more luster with the passing of time.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Great Lyricists.......2004-06-18

To me, some of the highlights of this album were --

Flinty Kind of Woman that is just a hilarious, tough Southern woman song.

When Sal's Burned Down, which had me thinking -- yeah, it IS a shame that not enough of us are really "cowboys anymore" as she puts it. Nothing more boring than obedient folks.

And Traveling which contains the great lyrics, "I'm not running away from myself, it's just myself ran away from me, and I gotta get it back."

Dar Williams is a great lyricist, and has a knack for setting her smart, honest lyrics to catchy tunes.

For myself, I liked MORTAL CITY a little better as a whole. This album almost seemed like a warm-up to that.

But if you're obsessed with Dar Williams' album, MORTAL CITY, and you want a second album -- this is the one I would get next.

5 out of 5 stars Dar Williams' very best.......2003-03-29

This is my very favorite Dar Williams album. It is raw and simple, not over-produced, and that makes it all the more beautiful and moving to me. I truly love every single song on this album and it is in my top ten list of my favorite albums of all time. And that's quite an honor from me, as I'm a very eclectic music-lover with countless favorite songs, albums, and artists. If you like folk music at all, this is a must-have.

5 out of 5 stars The Poet Laureat of the Cusp.......2002-12-03

The thing that makes Dar Williams unique is that we can all identify with what she's singing about. Growing up in the wake of the Baby Boomers, a little too old to really be GenX, her songs about a childhood with a hippy babysitter and cold war fears resonates with a lot of thirty-somethings out there, such as myself. But I'm fairly confident that this accoustical effort will appeal to those outside my demographic as well. And what you get with this album is a first-person confessional, not of pain and sin, but of life in America.

If you're familiar with her later recordings, this album is a nice departure from the full-band folk-rock she's become equally adept at. Most of the music on this album is simple folk guitar and Dar's vocals. The lyrics are nothing short of brilliant; personal and intimate, without ever going over-the-top to hokey. Nearly every song on this album speaks from and to the heart.

Dar has made many more albums since this one, and it's always interesting to see which new direction she's taking with each release. But even as her music gets more complex with the addition of a full band in later albums, she still maintains the pure songwriting gift that this album so spectacularly showcases.

5 out of 5 stars Being Observed- "that's just how I feel, Mom!".......2007-01-10

Our daughter is a 4th year teacher who puts her whole heart into teaching, but dreads being observed. The song on this CD made her cry because it expressed just how she feels- observers tell her she is a remarkable teacher, but she is sure they will say she's no good!
We knew she would like this CD as she raved over the first one.

5 out of 5 stars YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A TEACHER.......2006-02-19

You don't have to be a teacher to enjoy this album. We all have classroom memories that will be stirred by the selections. We have teachers than have inspired us; we perhaps have even known our own "Bill, the janitor." The vocal quality is superb; the sound quality is excellent. This is probably the best gift you could give to a teacher, or to anyone who loves kids. If you buy one as a gift for your favorite teacher, just make sure you have one to keep for yourself.

5 out of 5 stars Another Great Mix for Teachers...........2006-01-08

Judy has done it again!! She has taken those experiences common to all teachers and made them enjoyable and humorous in her songs....If you need a laugh and a little stress relief....just pop in her CD...instant P.D.for the teacher in all of us!!!

5 out of 5 stars A HILARIOUS WINNER!.......2005-12-08

As a fellow educator, TEACHER OF THE YEAR makes me take a more objective--and humorous--view of myself and my vocation. Judy is able to take the joys, sorrows, and frustrations of teaching and set them in such a light that you remember why you went into education in the first place. TEACHER OF THE YEAR is a motivator and a hilarious winner!

5 out of 5 stars And the true songs about teaching just keep coming!.......2005-12-01

"Teacher Therapy" was a great album, so how could Mrs. Bowen top or equal it? By coming up with a whole batch of new songs that continue to be the best discription of what being a teacher is all about, that's how! If you are a teacher, this is the newest and most delightfully funny, honest, and genuine view of classroom teaching you could possibly find. And if you know a teacher and are searching for a gift that will be most appreciated, this is it.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A lot of fun!.......2007-04-25

This is so much fun! It's a shame that this is a "selections only" version rather than the complete work. That said, "Die Fledermaus" is not a great serious work, but a bon-bon. And what a delightful bon-bon!

First, the cast. An interesting combination. Anna Moffo is a delightful Rosalinda; her lush voice works well here. Jeanette Scovotti as Adele may be less well known, but her work is fine indeed (way back when, I owned the Reader's Digest "Operetta" collection, in which these two reversed roles). Rise Stevens, an estimable mezzo, sings Orlofsky with a nice touch. Sergio Franchi plays Alfredo. Eisenstein is well sung by Richard Lewis. George London, a mainstay at the Met, took on Falke. Finally, John Hauxvell sang Frank. And they all seem to be having a grand old time in the singing. The Vienna State Opera Orchestra and Chorus are well led by Oscar Danon.

Second, the singing. The English translation is hardly great art. But the infectious presentation by the singers renders this close to irrelevant. "Calamity, Catastrophe" has everyone in a dither, with a quick tempo that catches the listener up in the excitement. Rise Stevens does a wonderful turn in "More often than not. . .Chacun a son gout." Well sung indeed. Adele's "Oh for the life of an actress" is an affecting piece, with Jeanette Scovotti doing a nice job singing.

So, if you want an infectious, fun version of "Die Fledermaus" (even with a rather lame English translation), this will work well for you.

5 out of 5 stars Sublime Moffo and cast.......2007-03-04

Terrific recording of highlights from Strauss' "Die Fledermaus", sung in English by Anna Moffo and Sergio Franchi in lead roles with Vienna State Opera Orchestra. Anna Moffo's voice is simply sublime and her magnificent performance demonstrates why she is one of the finest sopranos. First rate cast also includes the wonderful Rise Stevens in fine voice. Sound quality is excellent and stereo. I have only one complaint - why did they not release the full version instead of merely highlights? This disc left me wanting more of this delightful opera.

5 out of 5 stars LOTS OF FUN AND BEAUTIFULLY SUNG.......2006-06-29

The sublime Anna Moffo in radiant voice at her peak surrounded by a first rate cast in an excellent translation -only wish it was complete instead of just excerpts!

5 out of 5 stars Great Moments from Die Fledermaus.......2006-02-10

This is a delightful 1963 recording of highlights from the Johann Strauss operetta "Die Fledermaus", sung in English by major stars of the day, and accompanied by the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. Anna Moffo sparkles in the role of Rosalinda, showing quite clearly why she was regarded as one of the finest singing actresses of her time. The great mezzo Rise Stevens, at the end of her career here, has a grand time as a throaty Count Orlofsky. Jeanette Scovotti is quite good in the soubrette role of Adele, her light, bright voice contrasting nicely with Moffo's rich, sensuous soprano. The men in the cast are equally good. Richard Lewis, George London and John Hauxvell are all in fine voice and lend a splendid comic flair to the proceedings. The English translations are well done and easy to understand. Uncork a bottle of champagne, sit back and let this recording take you back to Old Vienna!

4 out of 5 stars Sparkling vintage Johann Strauss.......2004-02-20

Oscar Danon is the real star of ths recording. His conducting keeps things light and bubbly, just as it should be.

The English translation is acceptable but nothing dazzling, and some of the words and phrases seem awkward. (Purists will argue FLEDERMAUS is best heard in it's original German. For that, go to Decca's wonderful 1960 set which includes the wonderful gala sequence featuring an all-star cast.)

Anna Moffo is a fine Rosalinda and Jeanette Scovotti is perfect for Adele. (The two ladies switched roles that same year to record highlights for Readers Digest TREASURY OF GREAT OPERETTAS.) Rise Stevens is a bit of a plum as Prince Orlofsky, somehwat past her prime and oversinging "A Most Successful Host." Sergio Franchi does better with Alfred and Richard Lewis does fine as Eisenstein.

The Ball scene is given the larger piece of the recording, probably because this is where the opera's most famous "hit tunes" originate.

FLEDERMAUS is very much a piece of another world...a long forgotten time when Vienna was all glitter and balls and waltzes. They had the right attitude then: In the rest of the world the situation was often serious, but not hopeless. The Vienese viewed the situation as being hopeless - but never serious.

THAT is the spirit of this fun recording.

Tim Finn's Say It Is So underscores a perpetually restless creativity that's carried the New Zealander from the New Wave powerhouse Split Enz through Crowded House and other partnerships with younger brother Tim, to ALT (his earthy collaboration with Hothouse Flowers) to a handful of diverse solo efforts. Throwing in with Nashville producer-guitarist Jay Joyce (Patty Griffin, John Hiatt, the Wallflowers), Finn has produced a record bristling with indie spirit and musical playfulness. The dry expressiveness of his vocals often contrast starkly with the moody mix of muscular guitars, looped samples, and spare harmonies that frame them. Finn's pop sensibility won't be denied, be it straightforward (the Enz-ish "Underwater Mountain") or techno-adventurous ("Roadtrip"), but he's typically worked very hard at finding new voices and sounds to express it. If he stumbles a little (the pedantic sludge of "Need to Be Right"), it's just another sign that Finn is a musician brave enough to occasionally reach beyond his grasp. --Jerry McCulley

4 out of 5 stars Nearly There........2007-02-02

Tim Finn, how we missed you. To some he is Neil Finn light, to some just the older not quite as lucky brother. There's Tim Finn, part time Crowded House member (Woodface) and finally Tim Finn, charter member of that 70's and 80's Kiwi export, Split Enz. To me he is mostly the latter. Being 35 years old I remember them from back in the day, and I have grown into a devout fan of the Enz and even more so, of Crowded House and Neil Finn. So, to discover Tim Finn it is esential that you listen to Split Enz (I recommend Time and Tide from 1982, it is very Tim Finn). So, how about Tim Finn the returning solo artist? Well, up until now I personally find it has been a rather dodgy afair. In my ears he seems to do his damndest to sound NOT like Tim Finn through most of his earlier work (like 1993's Before and After). It sounds restrained and not at all very imaginative (And in some cases very outdated by it's 80's sound). You are left with the feeling that he is incapable of unleashing his talent without his younger brother (The exellent first Finn Brother album 'Finn' from 1995 is a good example). But then came Say It Is So. I have to admit I bought it mianly because he was in Split Enz and Crowded House and I was in Sydney Australia at the time. But this time I enjoyed myself, I really did. This is a fine album, this SOUNDS like Tim Finn (Underwater Mountain is a gorgeous song). There are a couple of songs on this album that are a little dull, but everytime you feel a bit let down there's a new song to lift you back up. I don't know the man, just his music, but I feel I can say as much, Tim Finn sounds like he enjoys being Tim Finn, and that makes for a very good time in his company.

5 out of 5 stars Sonically vast & adventurous. Better than Feeding The Gods........2003-05-07

This album has recieved a lot of negative critcism in the popular media here in Australiasia. Many complained it showcased a weaker Tim Finn voice. Well for the record I think Tim's voice sounds fine. I found this album to be more adventurous and sonically more varied, advanced and experimental than the straight foward album after - the mainly guitar rock driven Feeding The Gods. So yes it is a better album. I love and respect the way the LP closes with a deeply profound philosphical heartfelt ode to the 20th century with Rest...Other lyrical trends through out the album is the Neil Finn similar (to his One Nil/One All song Driving Me Mad) Need To Be Right, which many compared to Neil Young & Crazy Horse's unique guitar sound. I think this album has everything in variety you could want from a Finn album. From the Neil Finn like Recurring Dream guitar riffs of the joyous beach scenery of Currents and Big Wave Rider to the straightfoward pop classicalism of Death Of A Popular Song and Good Together, this album has enough mix and match garden salad variety spice to convert any hardened Neil Finn/Crowded House only fans to Tim's solo camp.

4 out of 5 stars Better than you think.......2001-05-21

I am a big fan of Neil Finn, Crowded House and Split Enz (mostly the Neil Finn era enz), I have recently started liking Tim Finn's contribution to these groups, as well as Finn Brothers. I find this to be a consistently satisfying group of songs. His voice may not be Neil's or what it once was, but his songwriting, sense of melody and the ability to know the limitations of his voice are there. Of course, there is nothing as good as persuasion on this one, but then he is not the songwriter Richard Thompson is. Another collaboration with him would be wonderful. If you like Tim Finn, you will love this CD.

4 out of 5 stars A must have for Finn Fanz.......2001-04-25

If you like a Finn or have ever heard of a Finn, you will love this cd, eventually. It's a varied lot for sure, but you will be surprised and enjoy it. If you don't, listen to it again. Tim is sneakier than his brother. His aural charms are worth the effort. \

5 out of 5 stars I've Waited 25 Years For This....Thanks Tim...........2001-03-19

I was first introduced to Tim's singing when I was 13 years old, living in Canada...way back in 1975....I borrowed a copy of Split Enz's Mental Notes and my musical barriers were blown wide open. Initially I was smitten with the combination of Tim's and Phil Judd's vocals -- I loved how they contrasted each other and how they sounded so 'dangerous' together. I lost that sensation when Phil left the group. Even though Tim remained, I felt that he had somehow painted himself into a corner -- afraid to stray from the vocal style that had made him what he was up to that point. Finally, Tim has taken the complete plunge, and not only as a singer, but also as a songwriter -- he dares to be naked -- and he let's the scars show....and it's all beautiful... ...thanks Tim for an album that I wil cherish forever....

Album Description

The latest release from Baillie & The Boys is a songwriter's showcase and a vocal delight. This 12 song collection, exploring the fragility and power of love relationships, takes us down a pathway of emotion. Few lead singers can deliver this type of material better than Kathie Baillie, whose ditinctive voice inhabits these songs with conviction and warmth. Baillie or husband Michael Bonagura, who produced the album, co-wrote seven of the songs on the CD.

The album conveys a feeling of intimacy and is tastefully arranged with a clean acoustic approach that demonstrates the simple power of a great song. Baillie & the Boys' trademark harmonies, subtle acoustic guitar, piano and bass unite with Baillie's rich lead vocals to deliver these songs with elegance.

Some of Nashville's leading songwriters are featured here and the lyrics and melodies wrap around each other seamlessly. "The Road That Led Me To You" is the sixth album from Baillie & The Boys and demonstrates why the group has four CMA award nominations as well as numerous hit singles. The understated acoustic approach on the CD only adds to the intimacy in this beautiful collection of songs.

5 out of 5 stars Refreshing.......2000-10-08

When I first heard Baillie & the Boys in late 1987 I was immediately impressed by their polished sound and quality of their songs. Although at that time there were many class country acts, Baillie & The Boys stood out among them as being truly unique. A few years later the drought began with mostly unsubstantial singers and, to put it bluntly, songs that insulted the intelligence country music listeners. Unfortunately Baillie & the Boys became obscured by the masses of hype generated by musically ignorant "suits" whose only interest was to feather their own nests. Most people didn't know but Baillie & the Boys never stopped writing and making quality music. With the the release of "The Road That Led Me To You", fans and new listeners alike are treated to country music the way it should be; honest, intelligent without being vague and performed from the heart. This album tells of life, and is presented in a very intimate way. being produced by Michael Bonagura it is not clouded by someone who is on another wavelength, but by one who has been focussed on every song since it's beginning. Kathie Baillie's unique vocal style brings out the warmth in each song. Her ability to use her range and subtle Celtic lilt are a welcome return to expressive singing which has been hard to find in the last few years. The addition of the classic blend of Michael Bonagura's and Alan le Boef's vocals provide a very solid base and at the right times merge seamlessly to provide a wonderful chordal mix that is extremely rare. The acoustic nature of this album lends itself to an intimate session with the band, and at times evokes memories of Peter, Paul & Mary, of music which is heartfelt and has a message relevant to the times in which we live. This is indeed a timeless album. The message of the songs is pure country; life love, broken hearts, joyous times, all delivered by one of the best bands and songwriting teams that we can hope to experience in our lifetime.

5 out of 5 stars Baillie And The Boys are better than ever.......2000-04-26

This is a group I've always loved. They soar, they sail and they take you right along with them. You will be singing every song with them before you've even listened through this album the first time. Kathie's heartbreakingly pure vocals are more angelic than they ever were, and there is this wonderful, heavenly thing that happens when "the boys" add their harmonies. This is a once in a lifetime sound from a one and only group, but as they have proven once again, they can make the magic happen time and time again. Do your heart a favor, and treat your self to this masterpiece of an album. You'll be glad you did. Juni Fisher, Nashville TN

5 out of 5 stars My Ears Say "Thank You"!.......2000-03-29

I admit I have been a long-time fan, but for some reason, after the long hiatus from the last album, I almost forgot how good this group really is !This album is just superb, with Kathie's soaring, crying, caressing, and heart-healing lead vocals better than ever (Is there a more emotional and musically gifted singer in Nashville?--I dont think so.)Listen to "The Moment",an instant classic, and try not to get a chill. Listen to the harmonies from "the boys" on "Far Cry From Him" and tell me if any group, with the possible exception of The Eagles, can make them take flight into heaven like Baillie +the Boys can.And how 'bout the intimacy and sonic perfection of "Nobody Here To Love" ? As Billboard's reviewer said in the latest issue---"If there was any justice in the industry, this would be a platinum album". Pure and simple--if you love beautifully constructed songs, lush harmonies and an indescribably breathtaking female lead, you should check out this gem of an album!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Sweeter than honey!.......2000-03-20

Just when you think that you've heard their best...here they come with one better! Even their old songs demand to be heard again. Kathies voice is stronger and sweeter than ever..when she sings "The Moment" she is really at her best! The harmony of Baillie and the Boys is outstanding!

5 out of 5 stars Best CD I Own.......2000-03-20

Saw Baille and the Boys in Jackpot, Nevada and bought a pre-release copy of this CD in Sept '99. Every song on it is great. I listen to it nearly every day. My favorites are The Road That Led Me to You and Treat Me Like a Stranger. But I do like them all. You won't go wrong if you buy this cd.

5 out of 5 stars ZACH is NOT a James Taylor Clone!!!.......2004-07-17

My apologies in advance to devout James Taylor fans (which include Clay Aiken), but Zachary's voice and depth of feeling in his music is genuinely his and his alone. I am very choosy about what music I listen to, and after listening to only 30 second snippets on my crappy little computer speakers, I am sold on this young man's gift of voice and aility to communicate said feelings and thoughts to the listener.

I wish him many years of successes!!!

5 out of 5 stars James Taylor type voice.......2004-04-27

Okay, so being a Zach Packer makes me kind of bias. Zach has one of the most incredible voices I've ever heard. He's a James Taylor fan and you can hear it in his soulful voice. Not only is Zach an extremely skilled pianist, but his song writting and singing are AMAZING as well. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Zach.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!!.......2004-02-24

Zachary Provost is VERY talented!! His songwriting, voice and piano work just shows it!! If you're into both piano and singing, this is for you!! It's lively, moving and wonderful! Words just can't explain it enough - it's just awesome!!

5 out of 5 stars This music is ALIVE.......2003-05-21

Zachary Provost's music encompasses a wide range of styles, yet he manages to keep his music firmly focused toward the intelligent listening audience. As a vocalist, his range and stylistic interpretation of his own material and other contributing artists is excellent. His arrangements enhance each song perfectly. Here is a combination of cool jazz, progressive jazz-fusion and soft ballads that delivers an extremely interesting buffet of musical delights. Whether you like Top 40, jazz or Adult Contemporary, you will find something on this CD that will whet your appetite. Each song is tasteful, exciting, a little unusual, unexpected, and ALWAYS good. This is a refreshing effort by an artist that has an outstanding background as a degreed, working musician and music director for a major recording talent. Zachary Provost is a musician and recording artist that shines in this first effort. He will be around for years to come.

5 out of 5 stars Authentic.......2003-03-31

Zachary Provost has a groove that's unmmistakeably connected to his soul. He shares his innermost musical expressions with a technical competence that draws in a listener and illuminates his range of styles. His songs are sometimes intense, sometimes playful and he takes risks to provide a diversity and depth to his music that make the cd such a rare and wonderful treasure. His openmindedness and tenderness is raw and unvarnished.

Zachary's rendition of "Inch By Inch" is rhythmically innovative and gives a soulful interpretation of the song's message and heart. Other tracks including "The Music of My Heart" only grow to be more endearing with time.

This cd really is heartfelt; it's music to celebrate being "Alive". I look forward to hearing so much more from this artist as he becomes even more in demand as he undoubtedly will become.

    5 out of 5 stars A change of direction that's paid off.......2005-12-01

It's been a long time in the making, Honesty is Alex Parks second album. This album has a totally different sound to Introduction, having a very folky feel to it. I was quite worried upon initially hearing the album as Alex's vocals are generally much softer than we have previously heard, but it works very well. There are a wide variety of styles on the album, from Adore, Lost Without A Name and From The Inside that are emotionally powerful tracks, Out Of Touch and Get Out are very chilled, the alternative zero 7 esque Truth or Dare, and the light hearted Honesty and hidden track Tail And All(perhaps the biggest surprise on the album!). My only real critisism is that I would have liked to hear a couple more tracks where Alex sings with the raw power of her voice - Lie is probably the only song where she does this consistently, however there are several others where she does sing parts of the song powerfully, however I can forgive this as the quality of the tracks that are there is excellent

Whilst Alex has an established fanbase in the UK, she is yet to build up a significant following in America. Hopefully this album will put her on the first step to becoming a major international artist

5 out of 5 stars Pop music at its best!.......2005-11-18

Beautiful music. Alex Parks has a gorgeous and compelling voice. It's a shame more people in the US don't know about her. Fellow Yanks, you're missing out!

Not "Dance" music or typical party tunes but pop music at its best. The tunes are beautiful; the lyrics are fascinating, thought provoking and too strongly expressive for the songs to be "ambient". Some of the songs seem like overheard conversations or excerpts from someone's diary: wonderful, raw, genuine and familiar.

Recommended if you like Beth Hart or Aimee Mann.

    5 out of 5 stars essential cd.......2005-11-11

please listen (on headphones or at full volume) to the hauntingly beautiful voice of an out and proud young lady who articulates the myriad feelings of those who are not usually heard, but these words will echo in the hearts of gay youth across the world.........and wait for the hidden track at the end....you will laugh with delight...!!!

5 out of 5 stars Music that rewards you.......2005-11-09

"Honesty" is a beautiful, many-layered album. Alex Parks has taken her time to craft the songs on here and her efforts have not been in vain. From the lullaby-like "Out of Touch", through the catchy "Looking for Water", "Honesty" and "From the Inside" to the darker and mysterious qualities of "Lie", "Sweeter and Sweeter" and "Truth or Dare", this album has songs to fill every mood and you will find your favourites changing as you listen to this more and more. A real grower and one that will reward you for many years to come.

PS. Don't forget to keep listening for the hidden track, "Tail and All" at the end!
