4 out of 5 stars FUNK to smack yo' mama by:.......2005-04-13

I'm not going to get into too many particulars except to say Mr. Graham lays the SMACK DOWN on the bass here...particularly the first half of the album. With a full blown instrumental assaulting remake of Graham Central Station's own "We've Been Waiting" (here titled "GCS2000") included, on top of the NPG Records triumverate of GCS, Chaka Khan & Prince (damn the name change) sharing vocals on "Free", the mellow "U Move Me", another updated cover of Graham's solo "Just B My Lady", and the funkin' "Love 4 1 Another", you are in for a head-bobbin' treat. Gratefully for your chiropractor bill, he also includes the sweet, romantic "I Just Found Somebody to Love" to ease you out before closing with the thunderin' "Eye'ma'gettin (armeggedon)". Like he says at the end of the title track: "heh heh heh...now that's the bomb!"

4 out of 5 stars GCS 2000 some solid Funk!.......2007-07-23

Larry Graham is one of the funkiest bass players ever! and that playing is displayed on this overlooked project, there are some great funk workouts on this cd, some good lyrics. This cd also features Prince and Chaka Khan on the cut 'Free'. This cd came out in 1998 along with Prince's 'New Power Soul' & Chaka Khan's 'Come To My House' all received little if no promotion because Prince had decided to try another way of getting the music to the public which was a bold move but the industry turned there back on them and radio wouldn't play nothing from them, but they did have a successful tour during this time.

    5 out of 5 stars DAG,,,,,,, That's Funky !.......2007-05-03

So far I have only heard the first 4 songs and knew I wanted to say something. It was good to hear Chaka -- and as soon as I heard #2 song, I knew Prince had something to do with it.
I only have one other CD of LG's --- but this one makes me want to look at some of his other cds.
I can tell I will be playing this a lot.

4 out of 5 stars The funk is still there!.......2006-08-31

I am not totally happy with it, but the funk is what keeps me still playing the CD after I first bought it! FREE and DON'T LET 'EM CHANGE U are the highlights of this CD!

    2 out of 5 stars EL STINKO!.......2006-07-05

Larry Graham was(and probably still is)one of the greatest pluck bassists of all time.(They say he was the first bass player to pluck)I own a majority of Graham's albums, and this has got to be the worst ever! Alot of old school artists tend to rely on some of the new artists to help them produce their new projects. NOT! I think these artists should just find it in themselves to create the good music they used to make or just call it quits. He had some help from Prince on this and it still sounds wacked! This is $11.99 plus tax that I will never recover.

5 out of 5 stars THE CAPTAIN IS NO JOKE!!!!!!.......2003-06-09

I have to make it my business to set the record straight cause this album got bad reviews, well as a funkhead who studied it well, is quite aware that most everyone fell off in the 90's yes all except for the captain, wearin the hat and all larry showed that he can still funk, this album is sooooooooooo hot, I rock to this and yes kids like it too I've had heads be like what?? on some of those tracks, This cat can Funk and this album shows true talent, the ballads are real too, trust me if you like music give this one a chance, You have to listen close though, all the true graham fans know about this one.
