Customer Reviews:
Only half the songs of the original set!!.......2007-01-17
Although I love the CDs, I was disappointed that there were only about half of the songs I thought there would be. I bought the original double cassette set back in the early 90's and when I found the CDs with the same name and cover, I thought I was getting the same thing only on CD. But the Cassettes had twice as many songs, including Let it Snow,Have Yourself a merry Little Christmas,The First Noel, Jingle Bells by Jim Reeves, The Christmas song by the Carpenters and so many others!!
Its all Christmas.......2007-01-09
It reminded me of Christmas as a child. I played this all throughout the holidays.
A Good Basic Collection.......2006-02-11
This is a good, basic collection of Christmas Music. As a general rule, Time-Life has selected what is probably the definative artist/arangement of each song.
My only complaints are that there are only 24 songs on two disks and one or two of them are not ones that I would have picked (not my style).
Overall, it's a good set that I would recommend to anyone who wants to start a collection.
cd reviews.......2006-01-15
this cd was very good, much recommended
Poor Quality.......2005-12-05
The only good thing about this collection is the inclusion of so many Christmas standards. I was very disappointed in the quality of the recordings, they obviously need digital inhancement.

Everybody's favorite precocious sprite of a soprano comes out with her third album in Dream a Dream. It's only been two years since Charlotte Church's smash debut, Voice of an Angel, but that's a big chunk of the Welsh singer's life span so far. This latest is basically a Christmas album, so full of festive cheer you'd never guess it was recorded in the summer. Even the glummest of moods will disappear when you hear Charlotte's infectious take on chestnuts such as "Winter Wonderland" and "Little Drummer Boy" (and having the London Symphony Orchestra as your backup band doesn't hurt either). And on top of that is a really special treat: the title song (borrowing an unforgettable classical melody) which blends Church's soaring vocals with the tender voice of young country prodigy Billy Gilman. --Sarah Chin

Dream a dream.......2007-04-03
I bought this CD after watching the music video of the same name. Their performance of "dream a dream" is exquisite. The fact that they wrote the lyrics just adds icing to an already magnificent cake!
This girl has Potential (I wish the press would back off)!!!!!!.......2007-03-01
You know charlotte church has received so much harsh critismn about her,I find that people were jeolous of her voice, and of how a young girl can sing, she is definetly my dream ome true, (So back off johnathan flanders),this girl in the past has done some wonderful music which is inspirational and she is a wonderful person, I dont care whether she has changed, anyway her rock albumn has given me a lease on life and has given me potential in my singing,I love your voice very much, and this reviewer hasnt been written by a kid at all,if charlotte church is reading this, good on yeah girl, you definetly my dream come true, and I hope I will see you one day. your best friend JJCox

A must-have for Christmas music lovers.......2006-12-07
this cd is pure magic...almost 20 great christmas songs on one cd sung by the voice of an angel herself..there may be a few mixed reviews by some people who must be opera voice teachers because there is nothing wrong with this cd...it is flawless....charlotte's soaring vocals, the beautiful orchestra and background singers, the whole cd has the christmas feel to it..."o come all ye faithfull" has to be heard to be believed...it is breathtaking...i love charlottes take on "winter wonderland" and "ding dong merrily on high" ..made me want to go dance in the snow or something.....she hits every note beautifully..buy this cd...i bought it back in 2000 and have listened to it at every Christmastime since or Christmas doesnt feel the same.
Gorgeous! .......2005-12-07
Charlotte Church has done it again! She is extremely talented. Even if she was 25 when she put this out, she'd be amazing. But she was only 14-15 years old when she recorded this! Beautiful. This album has great choral accompaniments and fabulous orchestra arrangements. It is a little on the high side in certain songs, but it still sounds amazing. I love her voice.

On his first-ever live album, singer-songwriter Mark Kozelek pulls everything together. Limited to 10,000 budget-priced copies, with two unreleased tunes on board, it's obviously targeted to fans, though it's a judicious, career-spanning effort that careens through the debauched sometime-genius's work with the Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon, and on his own. This record's so darn good it might belong, like Richard Thompson's Small Town Romance and Cheap Trick's Live at Budokan, to that weird variant of live album which supplants a greatest-hits type collection as the perfect introduction to an artist. These sparse, emotional versions often sound better than the originals, thanks in part to his longtime collaborator, guitarist Phil Carney. Kozelek not only covers the Christmas favorite the album's named after--which is sweet, but his otherwise released take on "White Christmas" is even better--but also includes typically superb reworkings of songs by AC/DC, Modest Mouse, and the Cars. --Mike McGonigal
Album Description
Mark Kozeleks follow up to Sun Kil Moons Tiny Cities is a limited edition live two disc set that features live versions of Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon favorites.
Customer Reviews:
I cannot bear to wonder now if the cascading lights are glowing for us in Moorestown.......2007-05-22
"Moorestown" (only available here) is possibly the most intense and beautiful moment in Mark's recordings ...
Wonderful.
But I wish Mark wouldn't plug his acoustic guitar directly into the PA live. No guitar sounds good that way. So much better to mic an acoustic guitar or at least use a proper acoustic amp.
vocals not miked well.......2007-05-15
I am not an engineer or a musician - but I thought the vocals were not miked well. His voice seems a little far off and not high quality. And the material does not sound too different from my memory of his studio work.
Nice material, but I think I will keep the studio versions.
Wonderful, but this is not Mark's "first-ever live album".......2007-03-30
Mike McGonigal's review is a little weird. Mark Kozelek's "White Christmas Live" (from 2001) seems to be on his mind for half of the review, 2007's "Little Drummer Boy-Live" for the other half. Not sure about the limitation on this release, but I know "White Christmas Live" was an extremely limited edition.
Anyway, McGonigal's right on one thing--this live album is awesome and works both as an introduction to a great artist for new listeners and as a real treat for devotees.
Excellent, definitive. .......2007-03-25
If you follow the career of Mark Kozelek, you may be weighing the pros and cons of picking up another live documentation of the gifted songwriter's catalog. Indeed, the mood of a Kozelek live show mirrors his proper releases quite closely. Additionally, there is a lot of live stuff out there already. This is his second "Christmas Live" disc (the first, White Christmas, was also a limited edition cd put out on Sub Pop a few years back)...and right on the coattails of a Tiny Cities reissue (from his band Sun Kil Moon) which included a seven-song live disc. Add in the fact that the guy is heavily bootlegged and there is a trove a stuff spanning his career as a solo artist and with his two bands (Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon) floating out there on the internet and you might consider passing Little Drummer Boy Live up. I wouldn't if I were you.
This is the definitive documentation of Kozelek live. Although his records are intimate, quiet ventures -much like his performances- they, and Kozelek's voice were made for the live performance. This set is head and shoulders above 'White Christmas' for its sheer breadth of songs (it has 20 songs to White Chistmas' paltry 13) and the addition of Painters' guitarist Phil Carney to the performances. Carney's quiet, and at times idiosynchratic accents to Kozelek's morose musings elevate every performance he appears on...and pushes "Du Koo Kim" from incredible to absolutely tanscendent...
The sterility of the recording booth is been pulled from Kozelek's songs and exchanged for the warm, natural tones of the live performance. Another artist this proved true for was Townes Van Zandt, whose quiet tunes came alive in front of audiences...., even though I own most of his studio recordings, when I want someone to hear Van Zandt for the first time...I always end up reaching for 'Rear View Mirror' or 'Live At The Old Quarter.' Kozelek's trembling voice on the Cars cover "All Mixed Up" is true, beautiful, the way it should be and never would be on a studio recording.
Of course, being Kozelek, the listener is introduced to different interpretations of their favorites. I remember seeing the Painters in Toronto and not recognizing anything they played until a good 1 to 2 minutes into the song. Most times this works for Kozelek. The trudging chord progressions of "Salvador Sanchez" are replaced with Carney and Kozelek plucking out the pretty melody from the structure of the song and putting it in the foreground with amazing results. Not every song benefits from this strategy..."Lily and the Parrots" languishes and drags in its new arrangement...but most of the time, Kozelek breathes new life into the familiar, the favorites, and the forgotten..."Bubble" and "Katy Song" are absolutely fantastic...and have made me shelve the Sun Kil Moon records in favor of some old Red House Painters discs this week...
Two new tracks, "Moorestown" and "Unlit Hallway" are included on the release...though Kozelek has been batting them around live for a while now...I guess they are here to seal the deal for Kozelek completists, but they stand on their own surrounded by some of the strongest selections of Kozelek's career. "Moorestown" fares better...this must be destined for his next proper release...
The record is a limited edition affair...with purportedly only 10,000 pressed in N. America...which will make it pretty easy to get for at least a while...but there really isn't any reason to wait...
Brilliant........2007-02-12
Never thought I could appreciate a live album, but this one is incredible. Vocally, musically, Mark Kozelek is on point. He doesn't miss a beat. The song selection is remarkable, Mark cranks out some of his best songs one after another. The two new songs are some awesome. Well done!

There's a commercial inevitability to holiday song collections that can tempt music fans to mutter "humbug" under their breath. Yet while this collection (released in conjunction with the Tenors' Christmas Spectacular tour of 2003) is no less market savvy, in the end the trio's earnest, energetic performances earn their fair shair of respect. The trio's Celtic shadings impart considerable warmth to "Fairytale of New York" and other performances, but it's the range of influences they (also in solo and duet turns, all solidly backed by the Czech National Chamber Orchestra) bring to bear elsewhere that adds compelling new dimensions to these holiday favorites. Anthony Kearns' "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" may be solidly traditional, but Ronan Tynan imparts "I'll Be Home For Christmas" with some deft, jazzy drama while Finbar Wright gives "Mary's Boy Child" an unexpected Carribean spin. Elsewhere, the folk-classical influences behind "We Three Kings," "O Holy Night," and the gospel traditional "How Great Thou Art" span renaissance, baroque, and modern with a grace missing from the on-the-sleeve sentiments of the closing duo of patriotic warhorses--what would the Prince of Peace make of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," anyway? --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
We Three Kings.......2007-01-16
The 3 Irish Tenors are a joy to listen to in the Christmas season. I thoroughly enjoyed all of it.
3 Tenors Christmas.......2007-01-12
This was VERY disappointing - too noisy & just the wrong type of music for these guys. I played it once & will try to get someone to take it off my hands - I love listening the them, usually, but this album is just a dud.
Beautiful and Amazing.......2004-12-18
When I fist listened to the clips from this CD on Amazon I wondered why on earth they put the patriotic songs at the end, and also wondered a little at the other non christmas songs. After listening to it several times however I realized why. They don't leave Jesus in the manger, but take him all the way up to today! Wow. To me that is totally amazing. There arn't many christmas CD's that do that, but I think it really balances things out. I really enjoyed the Drummer Boy, and all of the rest of the songs. I would definantly say that this was a good buy.
These Three Kings Rule!.......2004-04-24
This recording is a wonderful addition to any Christmas collection. It has power, charm and just enough reverence! Anthony Kearn's "Lord's Prayer" is magnificent! Finbar Wright's "How Great Thou Art" is awe-inspiring! After four years with the "Irish Tenors" poor Mr. Wright still must endure the ignorance of a few "fans", being constantly compared to John McDermott. Finbar took the "Irish Tenors" to a new level, as acknowledged by both Kearns and Tynan. I wonder how long "Ringo" had to endure being compared to Peter Best? Get over it people!
Another Winner.......2003-12-22
In their second Christmas album, the three Irish tenors have another very lovely collection of Christmas favorites and a few not so well known. The duets are particularly beautiful and, while I, like other reviewers, would have preferred an all-Christmas album, the American anthems are stirring and well done. My only caveat is the absence of John McDermott, whom I miss. His voice added something less homogenized to the mix and although Finbar Wright has a more operatic tenor voice, I would prefer McDermott if I had my druthers. Nonetheless, this a a grand Christmas album and I recommend it enthusiastically.

Nanna /Christmas.......2007-01-10
I have always enjoyed the voice of Nanna Mouskouri for many years. She has a voice of a nightingale. This cd is full of beautiful international Christmas music. If you enjoy music in multi languages then you totally agree with my rating of this cd...
A Christmas Trip Around The World.......2004-12-01
When it comes to singing in many languages, Nana Mouskouri is among the best. This album covers beautiful carols in French, English, Greek, German, Italian, and Latin. Her clear voice and perfect diction give a wonderful glimpse into the traditional Christmas songs of many lands. I especially enjoyed hearing "Kalin Iméran" - it's not easy to find Greek carols and this one is excellent.
A truly international album from a classy singer.......2003-11-16
Nana is a huge star in mainland Europe with a string of hit singles in several countries. She only had one big hit in Britain but her albums have always enjoyed healthy UK sales. I don't know the extent of her following in America but this Christmas album was finally given an American release in 2003 to coincide with a tour. Nana sings in several different languages and you can hear some of them on this collection, including English, French, German and Greek.
The only songs here that Nana sings in English are Deck the halls, O come all ye faithful, Hark the herald angels sing, White Christmas, God rest ye merry gentlemen, All through the night and Lullaby.
Five songs are taken from an album of German Christmas songs, including Stille nacht heilage nacht (Silent night), and O tannenbaum (O Christmas tree).
Nana sings Minuet Chretien (O holy night) and L'enfant au tambour (Little drummer boy) both in French. Ave Maria is here as well but I haven't worked out in which language. I recognize some other songs here from the tune, but there are plenty of high quality songs that I don't recognize at all (or only recognize from other foreign language recordings).
I have the French edition of this album, which has the title Les plus beaux Noels du monde, but the track listing and front cover artwork is the same as the American edition.
Frankly, it doesn't matter what language Nana sings in - if you enjoy any of her music, you'll love this album.

Resplendent in voice and manner, José Carreras, Placido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti deliver 21 songs of traditional sacred music and secular numbers in a remarkable 1999 live recording from the opulent Viennese concert hall (Konzerthaus), with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and a renowned choir. The Three Tenors are practically as famous as the faces of Mount Rushmore and inspire perhaps even more awe and adulation around the world than the four presidents. The performances--whether alone, in tandem, or simply as the threesome that has made them collectively famous--are generally impeccable for their passion, nuance, and sheer tour de force vocal artistry. Reaching often into the classical realm for such works as the traditional German carol "Susani," Strauss's and Brahms's "Wiegenlied," plus traditional Polish and Spanish pieces, the trio also visits Pavarotti's "Ave Maria, dolce Maria" (cowritten with Vittoriano Benvenuti), and "Un nuevo siglo," written by Domingo's son. Only John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "Happy Christmas/War Is Over" doesn't quite work in this grand setting. --Martin Keller

First Christmas Album I bought for myself.......2007-01-16
Album is great. For any other holiday music, just listen to your local radio station that plays it during December.
wonderful.......2007-01-15
they are wonderful singers a delight to the ears and doing Christmas music made Christ mas even better
Wonderfully Different & Addicting! And All Your Friends Will Be Calling HOO-HOO!.......2005-08-23
First, let me state I don't listen to opera singers that much; thus, don't expect a hypercritical review here. (Really, is there ANY field of music that has more hypercritics than opera?) I got this CD simply because Columbia House had it on sale for $2.99, and I wanted some new Christmas CDs.
I found the CD delightful beyond words. It has some beautiful versions of well-known Christmas songs, as well as songs I've never heard before. "Carol of the Drum" and "War Is Over" are my two favorites, with "Sleigh Ride" a close third.
Sure, there is some tripping over of words by these three great opera stars...but that makes it even more enhancing in my opinion. Pavarotti was particularly amusing when he was singing: "And all our friends are calling 'HOO-HOO'!" (Watch the DVD for Carreras' reaction to that one!) And let's not forget Pavarotti singing: "I'll be home for Christmas. You can PLAY on me."
The children's chorus is great, the Vienna Symphony is great...and, once again, buy or rent the DVD so you can get the full affect of this astounding Christmas concert...the music, the lights, the colors, and the marvelous Steven Mercurio conducting it all.
Wonderful and funny compilation.......2005-03-09
The Three Tenors are, of course, wonderful to listen to. This is also a funny CD. When they sing the more modern songs (Happy Christmas by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, for example) they have trouble keeping up with the pace of the song. They almost sound like they're tripping over the syllables, because as opera singers they are more accustomed to long, drawn out vowels, not fast ones. This doesn't hurt the song at all, it makes it more interesting to listen to. It's a great CD. I would recommend this as an addition to any collection of Christmas music.
A historical meeting..........2004-11-28
Although several labels already had Christmas albums of the three tenors in their catalogue, the three maestros never actually trioed on these releases. When Plácido Domingo and the "Christmas in Vienna" team started preparing the eighth concert in the series (six predecessors were captured by Sony, and one, titled "Celebration of Christmas" issued by Erato-Warner), they made a monumental decision: Re-uniting three of the greatest voices of the current music business.
For one and a half hour, Carreras, Domingo and Pavarotti performed the greatest Christmas songs and carols from around the world. Nearly 65 minutes of this monumental concert are captured on this disk. The opening version of "O Holy Night" (aka "Cantique De Noel", "Minuit, Chrétien") by Domingo and Pavarotti would be reason enough to get this one. But wait, there is far more on the way, than selections from the classical genre. The real enjoyment starts, when the three tenors do one of the most romantic arrangements of Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" ever heard and fade from a rousing "La Virgen Lava Pa`nales" into one of the finest treatments of "I'll Be Home For Christmas" ever heard. Also of great interest is the trio arrangement of "Let It Snow!", which is included on some of the import versions and on the DVD.
If you are a hopeless completist like me, you may be asking, what happened to the 25 minutes cut from the CD release. Well, first let me say, that none of the currently available releases has the order of the songs as they were performed in the concert. Although this is a live recording, handclaps and other characteristics of a live recording are hardly audible on the CD version. Two tracks, "Jingle Bells" and "Let It Snow", which had clearly audible handclaps at the beginning and at the end of the performance (and therefore couldn't be faded out) can be found on the mentioned import disk and on the DVD's PCM soundtrack. "Children of Christmas" (a Plácido Domingo Jr. composition originally introduced in "Christmas In Vienna IV" by Plácido Domingo and Michael Bolton) and "Ay" Para Navidad" can be found exclusively on the DVD. Currently unavailable on any official release is the "Overture" (which can be found on the DVD, but abridged with sound effects). So here's the actual running order: "Overture", 20, 2, 1, 11, 3, 4, "Children of Christmas", 16, 17, 6, 15, 8, "Let it snow", 5, "Ay! Para Navidad", 9, 19, 14, 18, 12, 13, "Jingle Bells", 7, 21, 10;
If you still doubt about the quality of this performance, let me say one for sure: As other volumes in the series will slowly disappear (as some of them have already in the US), this one is a matter of decades and when you buy this one, you will have joyful Christmas hours for many, many Christmases to come.

Customer Reviews:
A new musical Christmas tradition.......2004-12-14
This recording was my first experience with the Trapp Family Singers (other than knowing the story from The Sound of Music). I cannot state how pleasently surprised I was.
First of all, the technical quality of the recording is extraordinary. The selections were originally mastered between 1951 - 1953 by Deutsche Grammophon. Yet, despite the early dates, they sound like they were recorded yesterday.
The performances are even more extraordinary. The a capella settings of these traditional Christmas songs are rich in harmony and performed with a clarity rarely heard today. Of particular interest is the Michael Praetorius setting of Es ist ein Ros' entsprungen (Lo how a rose err blooming), Deck the hall with boughs of holly, and the Bach setting of Lobt Gott, ihr Christen alle gleich.
The family is conducted by Dr. Franz Wasner and the enclosed booklet offers a wonderful history of the family by writer Steven Ledbetter.
Overall, this recording has quickly become a new Christmas favorite of mine. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Christmas Songs from Many Nations - Flawlessly Sung.......2004-10-14
The first 18 tracks on this CD are from an LP of the same name that was a family favorite of ours since the 60s. The vocals are very precise, with noticeable German accents (especially on "Jesus Rest Your Head"). The Trapps, directed by Fr. Wasner, perform songs from their native Austria, including the hauntingly beautiful Scheibendudler (a kind of solemn jodler). Some listeners may not much like their rendition of traditional English or American songs (Deck the Halls, Jesus Rest Your Head). The less familiar Latin and foreign songs are a real treat. Favorites are "A la Nanita" (Spanish), Nu ar de Jul Igen (Swedish), and "Zu Bethlehem Geboren" (German). Most songs are done a capella, although there is recorder accompaniment on one or two. A songbook containing the first 18 songs with music is available from Amazon. All in all, a fine recording and great change of pace from the more usual Christmas music.

THE BEST VIENNA BOYS CHOIR CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!.......2005-06-01
This wonderful collection of Christmas music is especially good! Many pieces are very well known standards, and have been rewritten in ways that keep the music fresh, interesting and new! Every holiday season (and even throughout the year) this CD is played by our family quite a bit! [I may be a little biased, since my 12 year old son from Cincinnati, OH is one of the boys singing in most of the songs!] It is awesome!!

excellent entertainment.......2007-01-20
I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas DVD . I want to buy more of Andre Rieu.
The Christmas I Love.......2007-01-10
I was very pleased with the CD and would recommend it to everyone.
All of Andre Rieu's music is very enjoyable to listen to.
A Christmas Collection That Is Just Plain Fun.......2005-11-19
Sometimes I think the only person who is happy that Public television is financially challenged, other that certain legislators who believe that it is too liberal and the culmination of all that is evil, is Andre Rieu. Now don't get me wrong, this happy Dutch musician who models himself after Johan Straus is not a cruel or vindictive person. At least from what I can tell he's not, but let's face it. If PBS did not have financial woes, Andre Rieu, one of its favorite stars, would not have received the exposure he has, and his sales in the United States would probably be next to nothing. Of course for anyone who has ever seen one of his extravaganzas, we would be missing something enjoyable. He's musically sound and he knows how to entertain, and quiet frankly, though some classical purists may cringe at his name, I don't believe the composers whose music he uses are rolling in their graves because it's become popular once again.
Of all his concerts and CDs, I enjoy THE CHRISTMAS I LOVE the most. The jitterbug version of "Jingle Bells" shows that an old tune can produce new tricks. His arrangement of "The Holy City" (a.k.a. "Jerusalem") is almost as moving as when it is performed with a vocalist. The recording has a number of medleys that include favorites from all over Europe show how Christmas has such an international flair. For me, however, this album provides true variety. Many of the carols are not familiar to Americans, so we hear something different yet also authentic to the holiday season.
I'm surprised that there have not been other Rieu Christmas discs. He's an original musician and a consummate showman, so I'm sure there's more he could do with holiday music, but maybe he knows he has a classic with this collection and it will stand the test of time.
Wonderful; marvellous.......2000-09-30
Andre Rieu proves again he is the best of the best! I bought this CD in october 1997, a few weeks before Andre's concert In Quebec city. In this CD, you'll find all the classics of Christmas. They are well played because Andre and his orchestra know how to bring us the atmosphere of Christmas. The desing of the CD is well done. If you,re looking for good music, please try this CD You'll enjoy it. If you have the occasion to see his Christmas concert on TV, watch it. It's very beautiful.
This his not the first CD made by Andre. In 1992, he released "Spielt Die Schonten Weihnachtslieder".
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL.......1999-08-18
Another wonderful Andre Rieu CD. All the Rieu recordings and videos are a breath of fresh air - a joy to the soul.

The Little Drummer Boy.......2007-01-19
I was trying to purchase the original Harry Simeone Chorale's Drummer Boy and received this. It was okay, a mixture of songs, but I treasure the original one. Very short album, but price was good, so I was not disappointed.
Little Drummer Boy.......2007-01-10
Listened to the album every Christmas growing up. Recording is the same. Very good Christmas music with terrific attention to Christmas story.
Good but not great.......2007-01-10
I too was hoping this was going to be the gorgeous rendition of the music I grew up with. It wasn't, but it did help cheer up the holidays this year anyway.
Still looking for my favorite album.......2006-12-31
I have this cd and I love it because I love choral singing at Christmas but I am still looking for the first Harry Simeone Chorale album I ever bought. It is also titled " The Little Drummer Boy" , was released in 1981 by Holiday Records, a product of Phoenix Entertainment and Talent, distributed by Audiofidelity Enterprises, Inc. Why do I eagerly search the Christmas cd releases every year? I'm looking for 'A Simple Prayer', the absolute best version of the Prayer of St. Francis I have ever heard. (actually the only commercial version I have ever heard, although I get to sing a different song based on the same prayer at my church every once in a while). The man who sings the actual prayer on my album has a wonderful voice that makes me shiver every time I hear the song. I know it's not a 'Christmas ' song but I keep hoping it will show up one of these days. In the meantime, I keep and play my lp every year. Jo Haase
Mom's Recording: The Little Drummer Boy........2006-11-09
This record was done by my Mother, Frances Wyatt, and a group of her musical buddies from the old "Voice of Firestone" days. She is the one singing the soprano solo's on the album and can be heard above the others in the choral works. Mom was one of the lyric sopranos soloists on the "Voice of Firestone" ABC-TV program who became easily recognized here on the streets of NYC in the late 1950's and early 1960's. She also toured with Fred Warings Pennsylvanians extensively. Pretty cool!
I am proud that so many people have enjoyed this album over the years!
We, her family and children, grew up listening to this album along with her many Fred Waring recordings.
This one simple album, through years of continued sales, rocketed off the charts eclipsing all sales of LP's by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and every Pop musical group from L.A. to London. It made it into the Guinness Book of World Records! : A distinction it held for over 20 years!
When The Guiness people called us at home, we of course though it was some kind of prank. It wasn't.
I hope you truly enjoy this album and pass it on to your kids.
My mother died October 30, 2006. I will never forget her voice.
John Wyatt
