An excellent collection!.......2006-03-17

Tyrone Davis was a wonderful soul singer from Chicago who recorded for Brunswick/Dakar Records during the late 60's thru the 70's. Tyrone had an excellent production machine which included Leo Graham, Sonny Sanders and Gerald Sims. His Arrangers included Sanders, Willie Henderson and Tom Washington. These people lit up the charts during this period garnering hit after hit. "Can I Change My Mind", "Turning Point", and all of these hits are included in this collection with excellent stereo remastering. Edsel Records is a British company that has done an excellent job of making available a large chunk of the Chicago soul artists. This collection is a bargain at 18 bucks.

a friend played this for me a few years back and it has haunted me ever since. but, i was always hesitant to put down the (Money) for import. though the recording is not the best and the album is relatively short -- it's tantamount to an early beatles recording, african style. includes a young youssou n'dour and will be appreciated by anyone who's disenchanted with the overproduced stuff he puts out for the international market now. a classic that you will play over and over and over again.

the teenaged Youssou N'Dour.......2001-02-05

Very short (less than 28 minute) CD recorded in a Dakar nightclub in 1978. A few tracks feature the teenaged Youssou N'Dour. Not bad music, but hard to imagine that this CD would have a lot of appeal for non-Senegalese. The follow-up, Volume 2: Thiapathialy is longer, more accessible, and better recorded.
