Underrated.......2007-07-19

Out of the five cd's that Dynasty released this is probably the best with "Adventures in the Land of Music" a close second. This cd is Dynasty at their peak. Just listen to it and there isn't a bad song on it. This group is so underrated for 80's r&b its amazing. Because if it wasn't for Dynasty there would be no Shalamar and Whispers and possibly Midnight Star. Shalamar and the Whispers were basically singing to Dynasty's music. They were the musicians and also wrote a lot of their songs also. Listen to the Whispers "This kind of Lovin" and then listen to a Dynasty song and its basically the same. Shalamar's "Three for Love" cd has Dynasty all over it. It's just to to bad they didn't get more notice, because back then whatever Leon Sylvers had his hands on was pretty much gold.

When I purchased "Second Adventure" back in 1982, I literally played the cassette so much that it fell apart. Totally superb music making!

Just when you thought the first adventure was a thrill, Solar's royal band takes music lovers on another blockbuster journey. The group successfully attain the formula of blending R&B, Funk, Dance rhythms and sweet harmonies in such a unique way. As a result, Dynasty cooks up another winner and this time with a little help from labelmates Midnight Star, they serve up the Top 30 R&B smash "Here I Am." Other tracks that makes The Second Adventure a winner is the funky but catchy Top 40 R&B hit "Love in the Fast Lane," "That Loving Feeling," "Pain (Has Got a Hold on Me)," and the heart felt ballads "A Man in Love" and "Angel." A sure winner for those who truly believes that it's always better the second time around.

This CD epitomizes late 70's R & B. "Here I Am", by itself, makes this CD worth buying.

Nice music by Donald Fraser moves this classic tale along, and it's all very much in keeping with the spirit of this delightful adventure story for children. Lovely performances open each chapter of the two-disc set, including such highlights as a rapturous oboe solo played by Alan Vogel to introduce Chapter Five, "The Mermaid's Lagoon." Chapter Seven, "Peter to the Rescue," is heralded by a particularly heroic score. The music is performed by Donald Fraser and the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra. The narrator is the distinguished British stage and television actor, Derek Jacobi, who's got the kind of voice that could make great poetry out of the copy on the back of a shampoo bottle. It was great to finally see a Peter Pan soundtrack that was all instrumental after searching for so long. The music is absolutely beautiful and just what I had been looking for. If you like classical music the songs are really pretty and easy listening. It was a shame that there aren't more tracks.
