I literally laughed til I cried.......2007-07-31
Mitch has the best one-liners, and all throughout my days, they pop into my head and put a smile on my face.
Mitch Hedberg.......2007-07-29
Mitch Hedberg is one of my all time favorite comedians....I love his voice and how he says things. This DVD was well worth the purchase to me.
One of the best!.......2007-07-27
Such a shame Mitch is no longer with us. He is truly one of the funniest comedians. He is funny, smart, clever and I have shared this CD with all of my fiends. It's good for what ails ya.
Decent jokes, bad delivery.......2007-06-25
About half of the jokes on the CD were amusing, but the whole time I was listening to it I kept thinking that this could be really funny stuff in the hands of someone like Dave Attell. I think Hedberg was probably a good writer, but not a very good comedian.
He alluded to the fact that he was making a CD of the performance. It was very annoying when he played to the live audience, doing visual things and telling them that, ha-ha, the people listening on CD won't get this.
I cried when Mitch Hedberg died........2007-05-22
He was my absolute most favorite comic and I couldn't help it. I have never had anyone close to me die and I had seen Mitch in concert twice so really he is the closest person to me who has died. That is sad for me I know. Anyhow, this cd is awesome! Unlike his first cd, which is also great, this one has a little bit of a more uptempo delivery. He sounds like he kicked the drugs for a little while before he recorded this. With all the jokes being so short there are many many jokes on this disc. Not only that, but Mitch was the best when a joke bombed. If you listen to this you will find that out. I think he purposely put bombs in his act just for that very reason. I miss you Mitch. Hope you'll be telling me jokes in Heaven.

Album Description
The Turtles are one of the most fondly remembered '60s pop actsquite an achievement considering that they came up in an era dominated by Motown, The Beatles and other musical giants. After releasing a series of chart-topping singles, including the #1 hit "Happy Together," the band broke up in 1970. Singers Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan continued as a duo under the name Flo & Eddie, recording albums, hosting their own syndicated radio show, and singing backup for T. Rex, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Blondie, and many others. In 1985, they reformed The Turtles as a very successful touring outfit.
Happy Together: The Very Best Of The Turtles collects the band's biggest hits, including the career-defining "Happy Together" and Top 20 smash hits "You Showed Me," "You Baby," and "Elenore." The album also features an early Warren Zevon-penned song, "Outside Chance," and Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe," as well as the classic protest anthem "Eve of Destruction."
Customer Reviews:
One Of The Great Groups Of Years Gone By.......2007-06-18
This is one of the groups of the 60's if you want something to remember, or learn about from back then. They had a lot of great hits along with Peter & Gordon, Chad & Jeremy, Herman's Hermits, Gerry and the Pacemakers, & the Lovin Spoonful, just to name a few. Don't take my word for it. Listen to the sample songs and buy it for yourself. I just happened to grow up in the 60's so I didn't have a problem loving every song. After you buy this you may want to try some of the other groups next. It becomes a Blast into the Past or for those like me, a trip down Memory Lane.
A nice collection.......2007-04-14
This is a very good collection of the Turtles' biggest hits. Their lite, pop-rock was fun to listen too when I was a kid and still is! While some of the lyrics may not be the most profound, their music is enjoyable. My favorites are the classic "Happy Together", "You Baby," "She'd Rather Be With Me," "Elenore," and "It Ain't Me Babe."
Happy Together..........2007-02-03
I'm a fan of 60's music. "Happy Together" is one of those songs of my elementary school days. I rate this classic collection five stars!!
Cooking Turtles.......2006-11-10
These guys were great in the sixties.....Now those of us who once drifted away have come back and there we find the Turtles. Still sounding as good as they did back then...........it was great to run into these guys again...
Feel good hits from the 60's.......2006-11-06
These are the essential Feel-Good hits from the 60's. This cd features most of the Turtles happy songs. There are a couple of minor hits missing, but they're hardly missed from this collection. The Turtles had the great talent of producing happy, playful songs (Happy Together) as well as meaningful music (Eve of Destruction). The music of the 60's is definitely represented in this greatest hits collection.

Greg and Steve.......2007-05-18
A must for any Primary Elementary Teacher and Substitute. The songs are lively and kids love them. I use them substituting as a reward for being on task and taking a break.
Steve and Greg Vol 2.......2007-05-16
Great CD for young children. I am a kindergarten teacher and we use this CD everyday.
We all Live Together Volume 2.......2006-11-21
Great kids music with lots of lively songs to keep them dancing and interested!
Great CD.......2005-07-30
My 2 year old loves this CD. We listen to it at home and in the car. She loves to dance to Listen and Move. We like that it teaches the months of the year. Number Rock and The Freeze are great too!
Kids want to play OVER AND OVER AND OVER.......2004-01-11
Preschool children absolutely love
*Listen and move - They tiptoe, run, hop, gallap and laugh their way to some energy release!
* The Number rock - In a circle joining hands and yelling and screaming the numbers. Helps to count and recgonize sequencing. Then we all fall to the ground!
*The Freeze - they just want to keep freezing (We like to freeze in a really goofy position)
*The World is a Rainbow - We have rainbow streamers that children do things with. We ask each child to wave their streamer in a unique way to this song and then everyone copies.

Amazon.com essential recording
Warner Bros. did with the CD release of the 1970 vinyl LP 10 Years Together: Best of Peter, Paul & Mary what every label should do with CD reissues of vinyl compilations. They took into account the longer length of CDs and added tracks. The original release of 10 smash hits has been fleshed out here with three additional tracks, including a melodic take on Dylan's Basement Tapes rarity "Too Much of Nothing." Otherwise, it's hits and nothing but hits, ranging from definitive folk interpretations ("If I Had a Hammer") to pop ("I Dig Rock 'n' Roll Music") to Dylan and Gordon Lightfoot covers that compete with the originals and first brought such material to the mainstream. Only "Cruel War" is missing. --Bill Holdship

Good music, but misleading professional review.......2006-10-18
I'm sure that all of us who remember PP&M welcome a CD reissue if only because we won't have to listen to the scratches and the skips that a well-loved record album is burdened by. But I'm surprised at the Amazon review posted ahead of all the "amateurs" because there are NO NEW TRACKS on the CD. The record has 13 tracks, not 10, as the review so prominently claims. I agree with the other amateur reviewers who would like to hear some of the other PP&M songs added, such as "This Land is Your Land" and "Where Have all the Flowers Gone." And it's understandable that all the recording company wanted to do was reissue the original. But please, Amazon, don't advertise a product as something it's not.
A Classic of American Folk Music.......2006-10-08
I still have this on vinyl, but just never bother with the stereo anymore. I pounced on the CD and popped it into my player, so once again I can relive the sound that meant so much to me in my college days. It's still a mellow blending of voices and a great selection of songs.
You get your classic folk tunes (Blowin' in the Wind and If I Had a Hammer), plus 60s songs like Too Much of Nothing and I Dig Rock and Roll Music. I love their version of Lemon Tree and you just have to have Puff the Magic Dragon.
A marvelous album!
38 minutes of Greatest Hits.......2006-01-18
First released on LP in 1970, this greatest hits album contains several of the big hits by Peter, Paul, and Mary, the folk trio from the '60's whose classic works include "Puff the Magic Dragon" and their covers of Pete Seeger's "If I Had a Hammer," John Denver's "Leaving on a Jet Plane," and Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind." The group's sound consisted of simple, feel-good, peace-loving, almost naive, harmonies with spare instrumentation (usually just guitars and acoustic bass) and without much of a hint of an edge (realizing that some of their music was "protest music" in spirit and assuming for the moment that "Puff!" wasn't about lighting up a doobie). This formula garnered them a loyal following in the '60's and no doubt has today's greying listeners harkening back to those good old days. Anyone who was a fan and hasn't heard them for years will find this a warm reminder of the classic tunes and times.
It's always a bit difficult to review a Greatest Hits album -- people always quibbling about what songs in their opinion were unjustly left out and which they could have done without. I always think that's pointless, but I can't resist jumping on the bandwagon this time... True, this CD release improves on the earlier LP version by adding 3 tracks, but the total playing time still only comes to less than 38 minutes. That just doesn't cut it for me in the age of the CD format. So, what would I add? Well, how about "This Land is Your Land," "Where Have All The Flowers Gone," or "Kumbaya," "Michael Row the Boat Ashore," "Down By The Riverside," or even "Because All Men Are Brothers." Ah, fair enough... if I'd wanted those tracks, I should have purchased either the 2CD collection, "Around the Campfire" or the newly released and remastered "The Very Best of Peter, Paul, and Mary." Don't get me wrong, "Ten Years Together" is a decent album with some classic hits from PPM, but if you want something more complete and a better value for your $, check out either of those two albums first -- I wish I had (and I wish I'd read a review that made this clear). Then again, with "The Very Best..." available now, you should be able to pick up "Ten Years Together" for a dollar or two.
Crisp American folk music.......2005-10-16
A music collection that contains classical numbers from the classics of American folk music.
A collection that also makes me cruise to the 60's, both with its melodies and lyrics. The themes are socially and politically oriented making them even more universal.

This is a must have CD for Christian families. We play this CD over and over on long car rides and sing and praise the Lord. Even the little ones know the words to the songs by heart now.

this is the first Christian CD I've bought and I LOVE IT!!! My 5 and 3 year olds love it too. I wouldn't even know it was religious music if there weren't lyrics. Awesome!

Amen to this music!!!.......2006-11-10
I bought this CD because there were a couple of songs on it that we sing in our Church that I really liked and have to say that I received it on Friday and it is now Thursday and I have not stopped listening to it. It is playing at work, in my car, I am singing along with it and singing the songs alone without it. I love love love it. I have also recommended it to a couple of co-workers. I HIGHLY recommend it to you.
The Best music I own.......2006-09-26
This truly is the best Christian music collection I own. If I could only have one Album to listen to, this would be the one (it is actually a 2 CD Set). I have purchased 4 copies to give away and share this inspiring collection with others. I only take time to rate things that stand out, and this does! It is a Beautiful Collection of Contemporary Christian Music that everyone can enjoy.

Thank you Kindred for Keeping Neo-Soul on the Map!.......2007-06-04
Deciding which albumn is better - their first or second - is no easy task. They're equally amazing. There's no doubt after listening to this duo on their sophmore cut that fate brought them together. Their songs are so positive and down-to-earth. The vocals are strong and harmonic. I have listened to this CD over and over many times in my car. I especially enjoyed track 6 and the title cut. Be sure to get their 1st albumn as well. Neo-soul and R&B fans love you Kindred!!!
In This Life Together . . . . finally family music has exemplary appeal!.......2007-05-15
I must say, family music has never sounded better. Kindred the Family Soul has a full CD project hit! This CD will definitely have longevity and Kindred will definitely be remembered for years to come---just like Ashford and Simpson. With all of the "let's break-up" and get into self--"self absorbed" music on the market today, it is refreshing to hear "love of family" music that also speaks to the real-life family issues and struggles while possessing positive answers. This is a "let's be real with each other" project that speaks directly to the heart of family. All of the family issue bases are covered, with love, forgiveness and endurance being the answer. I would recommend this to all married couples, husbands and wives of all ages and durations of years. Let's get back to love, strength, forgiveness, compassion and endurance in family, and if you don't know how to express it in words to the one's you love, then purchase this CD and give it as a gift----enough said! Kindred the Family Soul should be right up there with Indie Arie and Amel Larrieux. These three artists have their own styles and direct messages that are definitely worth a listen. Keep Kindred the Family Soul's In This Life Together CD with your own personal family photo album, yes, it is just that good!
I Love This Group.......2007-05-12
The CD really explores the in's and out's of married life as a young adult. I truly appreciate the honesty and love this couple expresses through the music.
LIFE AFFIRMING. WONDERFUL. KINDRED is fantastic........2007-03-14
Add this project to your collection TODAY! I traditionally have a four track rule - if I like at least 4 tracks of a CD I purchase it. I LOVE (with a passion) 10 tracks on this CD. The ones I don't love I LIKE ALOT. It is music with a message - harmonies that move your body ...a project that affirms my soul. peace! - SHAASHAWN "the voyce" :)
Kindred Soul is all that!!!.......2007-03-08
I also have their first CD. I enjoyed almost all of the songs on this album from the first time that I listened to it. It has a nice mellow sometimes up tempo flow and I really love the fact that this is ADULT music. No excessive cursing and misogyny.

Great to Hear All those great Voices from the Past.......2007-07-05
I just wanted to confirm what the first reviewer had to say about this CD. To hear Ethyl Merman, Mary Martin, Andrea McCardle etc. singing their trademark songs brought a lot of memories from the mid-centry musical theater back again. The last song by Glynis Johns is especially poignant.

This is a very good CD, mostly because it's the original artists. I've had some that were re-recorded by no name artists that were ghastly. This one is a really good one--including the sound quality. If I had one wish, I would wish it were longer!

some things just get better with time.......2006-08-15
and this is one of those releases that is just as compelling to listen to as when it was first released in 1970....heck lot better than the Sabbath Grand Funk Zep ELP Tull platters that were being mercilessly cranked for the longing public ear!!!
But more so...Dave Mason is still VIABLE now as back then....live he IS totally incredible....though I feel his subsequent releases including the overlooked DAVE MASON disk from 1974 is just as extrordinary. They guy knows how to sing a good lyric with a good melody...I mean does one need those augmented 7ths and ninths all the time to convey a GOOD SONG - hey those NAMES will not be mentioned....but are in the GUITAR HERO vein..... Thanks DM for some of the best tunes written of all times.
An old friend..........2006-05-19
That I never owned before myself, but bought for a friend once. Dave Mason was one of the major songwriters for the late 60s British progressive rock group Traffic, a group whose ouvre spread out all over the place, from jazz-rock to honky-tonk to folk-rock and so on. His stuff was the stuff that didn't have a hint of jazziness in it. "Vagabond Virgin" from the second album is his, for instance. On this album, he forsakes Traffic's jazzy sound even more so, for this album has a DEFINITE folk/country-rock flavor, sounding a lot like certain American groups. You'll be reminded of Buffalo Springfield, CS&N, The Lovin' Spoonful and other sodbustin' rockers with this album, with songs like "World in Changes", "Only You Know And I Know", and "Look At You, Look At Me". His stuff is AWFULLY reminiscent of Stephen Stills' work.
One thing bothers me, though...When I first heard this album 36 years ago, (NGANGH!), I was actually pretty impressed by it, but listening to it now, there're only three, maybe four, songs that are really memorable on it. I seem to remember a few more hummables than this on it, but apparently, I misremembered. Or the re-masterers got a hold of the wrong session tape...who knows.
Originally, this album, on vinyl, came on a disc that had an earth-toned swirl pattern in the plastic and it immediately became a collectable, not to mention the fact that it started a trend that picked up years later among legendary prog-rock and new wave artists, using special plastics to put their music on, such as clear red, photo-imbedded vinyl, etc., to also make their albums collectables. Too bad that didn't trickle down to the CD, but there you have it. A good nostalgic piece with SOME good work on it from one of the major talents of the Woodstock era.
Not bad...not bad.
A Re-Discovery.......2006-03-14
I had this album back in the early '70's with it's multi fold-out cover; now a collectible. Of course as happens when taste changes, I sold my copy 20 years ago. However, after hearing from some guitarists that Eric Clapton played on this LP, I had to find it again. Unattainable in my country on CD, thank goodness for Amazon. I'm now playing it continually, it has songs you instantly love. Dave Mason is a fantastic singer and guitarist and knowing he's supported by E.C. (uncredited on the original LP and this re-release!!) makes it sound even better. The style of music is well..... bluesy, somewhat Gary Moore style without the overdrive. I have no hesitation to say get it, you will be amazed. A lost classic that should be re-discovered by all.
A Lesser Known Classic.......2006-02-01
The whole package. Great tunes, words, effortless guitar playing on every single song. If you love the Beatles, Cream, CSN&Y, Jefferson Airplane etc. you have to get this CD. I guess you could call it "folk rock" but Dave Mason is one of a kind, especially on this CD. Also, if you can find the original record, the multicolored disk and fold out picture of Dave is a collector's item. Oh, the good old days...

I thought it was the best then and It's still one of the best.

The best Guster CD of them all (and that's saying something!).......2007-07-29
I bought "Keep it Together" at a Guster concert in May, which I visited in lieu of their also-amazing Ganging Up on the Sun. I had no idea that this album contained so much AWESOME... and throughout the WHOLE ALBUM! :O
My favorite songs:
-Diane
-Amsterdam
-Careful
-Amsterdam
-Backyard
-.....see where I'm going with this?
If you could only own one album in your lifetime, and this was it, you would be extremely satisfied. You owe it to yourselves to own this album!
And as an added treat, it seems that the more you listen to this album, the more you are rewarded with discovering layer after layer of synchronized music.
Other Pop Artists Should Study This Album.......2007-07-26
I bought this album the day it came out, way back when i was 16. This is the album that really got me into music. Every song on it is great. Not a weak one of the bunch. Guster is such an underrated band. These are beautiful, brilliant melodies that should be looked at as an example of how to write a pop album. Sometimes a band just makes an album where they do no wrong; this is Guster's finest album, and should not be overlooked by anyone who appreciates a well constructed melody.
Excellent Album.......2007-05-30
I've owned this album for over three years now, and just to clarify its greatness, it is still a great album to me. I have played it on road trips and times when I just want to really focus on music, and this album always delivers. You will not be dissappointed!
Check This Band Out!!.......2007-01-23
This is my favorite Guster CD yet. Saw them live in December of 2006 and they amazeed me! If you haven't yet, go see this band live. The CD's are great, but their show will blow you away!
great disc.......2006-08-27
Not as great as "Lost and Gone Forever" since there aren't as many bongos, but still a good Guster disc.

Own up to your roots!.......2006-08-31
What an amazingly versatile group! I'm a boomer and never purchased a Youngbloods LP in their heyday. This collection is a wonderful introduction to their most memorable tunes. After my initial listening to the CD (yesterday when I received it), I would like some other pop groups to step up to the plate and own up to their roots! These groups must surely have listened to the early Youngbloods' music and been heavily influenced by it. The groups in the dock include The Electric Light Orchestra, The Lovin' Spoonful (although I understand John Sebastian was present in some of the early Youngbood sessions), Big Brother and the Holding Co., Steeley Dan, The Byrds ("Sugarbabe" pre-dates the "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" album by a year or more!), and America (they recorded a full three years later!). My favourites on this CD are the unforgettable melodies of "Foolin' Around", "All Over the World", "Sugar Babe", "Beautiful", and "Sunlight". If you listen carefully to these alone, you can see where the groups listed above got some of their ideas. The Youngbloods' music was uplifting and extremely contagious. I hope their music will get more airplay by movie producers discovering their work for possible inclusion in their films.
The Great Youngbloods........2006-02-22
The Youngbloods were one of the best bands of the '60s. Their mix of folk, rock, and the blues were only rivaled by The Lovin' Spoonful. Jesse, Jerry, Banana, and Joe produced some of the best music of the era, "Get Together", "Grizzly Bear", "Sugar Babe", and "The Wine Song" for example. However, I would buy this recording if the only good song on it was "Darkness, Darkness", one of the greatest songs ever recorded in my opinion. This is a fantastic collection of The Youngbloods best. Get it for your soul.
Great compilation.......2005-03-07
The Youngbloods' version of "Get Together" was one of the very greatest singles from the 1960's. Thirty-seven years later, time stands still when those four minutes are played.
And the rest of this compilation is excellent. Jesse Colin Young and Jerry Corbitt's voices complemented each other perfectly, almost clairavoyantly; Banana was one of the 60's most versatile musicians; and Joe Bauer was the great overlooked drummer of the era.
Highly, highly recommended.
All the best from the Youngbloods.......2005-02-19
A real fan of the Youngbloods will have CDs of their individual albums (plus the subsequent Jesse Colin Young solo albums of the mid-70s). For the less fanatical (or to have a compendium for the car), this is an excellent choice and the remastering makes it musically superior to the individual CD/albums.
The CD contains what are, arguably, the group's best recordings: "Get Together", "Darkness, Darkness", "Ride the Wind" and "All My Dreams Blue", as well as enjoyable recordings like "Sunlight" and "Sugar Babe" that were part of J.C. Young's touring repertoire for many years and a Youngbloods version of his first recording "Four in the Morning". Also here is great recording of Fred Neil's "Reason to Believe" which used to be a standard among singer-songwriter type performers. The Youngbloods' music (and Young's subsequent solo work) was largely folk based, but incorporated rock, jazz, country, jug band, Brazilian, and blues influences. Listening to this reminds how much effort there was to experiment and synthesize different musical forms in the late 60s and and early 70s and how absent that is from the current, over-specialized music scene. Other than some contemporary jazz artists like Matt Jorgensen, it's difficult to think of people who really try to explore and blend different musical genres these days. The Youngbloods do a great job with others' songs, like the popular "Get Together". Their own compositions are stronger in terms of melody than lyrics. Overall, this is an enjoyable album and the remastering gives it new richness even for old fans.
Great songs, and great remastering.......2004-03-13
I am always leery of remastered recordings of old classics. Sometimes, things really get screwed up and all of the life gets sucked out of the songs (witness Beatles 1 or the new Yellow Submarine album). I am happy to report that this is not one of those occasions.
I am with the previous reviewer from Australia when I say that this compilation thankfully includes some of the best songs from the Youngbloods' best album, their debut. Although I still have my old vinyl Elephant Mountain album, I only really enjoy about a third of the songs on it, preferring the earlier stuff instead. So, get this album if you like the Youngbloods.
I would also like to just make one comment that speaks to today's jaded society: The Youngbloods' most recognized song, "Get Together," seems to have long been written off by a lot of people as being a sappy hippy anthem. It was even given a very torturous, sarcastic reading (at least for a few seconds) on Nirvana's "Nevermind" album. Yet, far from being just a hippy anthem, the song speaks universal truths. The message of the song will never be untrue, and should not go "out of fashion." Indeed, we are all divine beings and our lives here are but cosmic blinks. (Some will come and some will go/We shall surely pass/When the one that left us here/Returns for us at last/We are but a moments sunlight/Fading in the grass.) And we all have the power to either create something positive here for others in this lifetime, or to create pain and fear for others. (You hold the key to love and fear/All in your trembling hand/Just one key unlocks them both/It's there at your command).
Which will you unlock?
