To say Shackles is a great track is an understatement. My favorite Gospel artistes were Soundz of Blackness, until I heard Shackles being played in a record store. The rhythym,the danceable tune, the female vocals literally turned my feet in the store's direction. Listen to this track in the morning and your day's as good as MADE! I've had this re-recorded on Tape 14 times sequentially for my car. I'm still listening to it. I recently moved from Ghana to Australia and I have this tape with me !!!

this is one of those 80s albums that you can put on and say: DAMN, WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE GOOD OLE TIMES?!!!? when i hear the snythesizers and that midnight star-like voice box thang, i get tingles as i think about simpler times. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the joy of being an 80s kid!!!! a great "cookout album" if ya dig me. I love this song. We used to skate to SHACKLES in the 80's. I went to a birthday party for my niece and they played it at the skating rink. Great memories. I think my cousin and I had more fun skating to it than the kids did.

This is a really swell album.......1999-10-14

After listening to this album for the first time, I was in complete awe, and full of gusto and ambrosia. This is a very popular album at the school that I attend, Brother Rice High School.

The mix you're looking for is the Victor Calderone mix, not Thunderpuss. Get Victor Calderone's "E=MC2 vol. 2" CD. It's on there, beatmixed, but still almost 10 minutes long...

Toe tappingly good.......2001-03-08

If this song doesn't get you tapping your toes and singing along to the funky lyrics then you must be dead. This is a GREAT song, and what's even greater there are a variety of remixes on this CD that should be appreciated rather than criticized. "Shackles" is a wonderfully inspirational song, with an equally wonderful video that makes you want to take your boom box outside, crank up the volume and dance 'till your feet drop off. However being British that is very unlikely to happen, in fact we're more likely to drink a cup of tea to it whilst humming the tune under our breath...oh well better than nothing I suppose! Go out and buy this CD, it is SERIOUSLY good for your health.

This version is a dissapointment.......2001-02-17

About a month or so ago, i bought this song on white lable pre-relase, sometimes, record companies put our various mixes to test the water. The mix i have is probably by thunderpuss but the lable does not say. The mix is not on the CD single, WHY? The white lable mix is INCREDIBLE, but yet its not on the cd, and the mixes on this cd are just plain awfull compared to what i have on vinly. If you can find a white lable promo of Shackles by thunderpuss, grab it, pay extra for it, do what ever you have to and get it, because it blows this cd out of the water. When will the record companies stop trying to feed us FORMULAS and let us have what is truly the better copies of songs? VERY dissapointed in houston.

In all the mix of music we now have I found Shackles to be a shining star. In a generation that seems to be drifting away from religion Shackles is a great way for praise! With the strong vocals and dancable beat I see nothing wrong in enjoying or dancing to a gospel song that rocks.

Shackles will get you off your duff and on your feet! You can't sit still when you listen to it! When my 4 kids are moping around I can put in shackles and in about 30 seconds they are dancing and laughing and worshipping God! This is an awesome song!

The two Marys who aren't named Mary (they're named after the Marys in the bible) are singing a modern gospel song.
It's great fun to sing along and dance to it.
The two mixes are very good. They make the song more "club-like"(this word doesn't exist does it) THey're made by Maurice. it sounds like the vocals were new recorded which is a nice surprise
The bonustrack "I got it" is on their debutalbum "Thankful" It's also a modern gospel song.
