The Late Doris Troy was One of the Most Talented Soul Singers of the Sixties who Has Many Fans, Not Only Among the Global Soul and Northern Soul Scenes, but also Via her Connections with Members of the Beatles. In 1970 She Recorded this Self Titled Album for Apple with Assistance from an All-star Cast Including George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Peter Frampton, Stephen Stills, Eric Clapton, Leon Russell, Jackie Lomax and Delaney and Bonnie. Doris, as Ever, is in Great Voice, with Tracks Ranging from Beefy Rock-y Soul to Emotional, Slower Tunes. The Album was Produced by Doris, George Harrison and Stephen Stills. The CD Includes Five Tracks that were Not on the Original Album Vinyl Taken from NON-LP Singles and Outtakes.

Awesome Rockin', Gospel, Soul.......2004-02-23

A standout album for the Beatles Apple label. First, there are many names on this album including George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Stephen Stills, Delany and Bonnie, Peter Frampton, Billy Preston, Klaus Voorman and more. George, Billy, Stephen and Jackie Lomax wrote some of the tunes with Doris. Now that that's out of the way, I must say...this is a great album. Doris produced it herself except for "Ain't that Cute" which George produced. The feel and production sound is much like Billy Preston's Apple albums. A lot of soul mixed with rock. Very tight drums, hammond b's galore and alot of guitars. I do believe (although I'm not positive) that Doris plays most of the piano, which is really really worth hearing. The album has a Harrison sound on a few songs. Very good songwriting and of course Doris' absolutely amazing voice. (Makes the hair on my arms stand up!). Digitally remastered for awesome sound. If you can find this album pick it up and crank it up. This is one album that deserves to be heard by the masses.

I've had this CD for a while now and it's on of my pesonal favorites.It's not fair that it's OOP as it's a classy collection from 'Look' to the all time northern soul classic,'I'll Do Anything'.She's one the great and creully underrated soul singers of all time. In the ever declining quality of the music world on both sides of the atlantic she still stands out from todays so-called singers and she will be missed

Hidden Gem.......2001-12-10

Any Northern Soul fans from the 70's will instantly recognise the mega-popular track 'I'll do anything'. This record was on the 'Toast' label as a single and I recall it changing hands for huge amounts of money at Wigan Casino and other venues. Brilliant!!!

It only "Took One Look"!!!!.......2001-08-25

This was a song that my boyfriend and I danced to, it was OUR SONG, spoke for us, we were married and had 36 wonderful years before he passed away at a young age. This song is important to me and I'd love the CD that is NOT available. She has such a soulful bluesy sound that cannot be matched by today's artists.
