Surprisingly, the great Knight doesn't essay the classic Etta James-associated pop tune that shares this album's title. What is here, though, is an honest attempt to count the blessings of a life that hasn't always been as glamorous as its trappings. Unfortunately, even though the star's eyes are wide open, the spirit is strong, and she's in good voice, the material often fails. This set of mostly love songs covers more than just the happy days of romance, but listless tempos and weak melodies ensure its failure to totally connect. Exceptions are, predictably, two revivals: Bill Withers's underrecognized spiritual paean to "Grandma's Hands" and the old Hank Locklin country hit "Please Help Me I'm Falling." --Rickey Wright

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Excellent CD!.......2007-07-27

I've been a fan of Billy Ray since the very beginning. The quality of his music has never let me down---one great CD after another. They are always excellent, as is this new one, Home At Last. He has been under-rated for far too long. He has emotional depth, a great voice, and great material. Billy Ray is the real deal in a musical landscape occupied by way too many phoneys. If you're not already a Billy Ray fan,do yourself a favor and give his new CD a listen. I might add, that anyone who has raised children or has dealt with life as an adult will thoroughly relate to many of the songs.

5 out of 5 stars I love Home At Last!.......2007-07-26

This is a really a great album. I saw the video on the Disney channel and had already fallen in love with Ready, Set, Don't go and then heard The Beginning and fell in love with that one and it just kept going. I really hope he can get some air play with radio and video channels this time. His last album, Wanna Be Your Joe was equally good but couldn't get any air or video play in the US. I hope Billy Ray gets the recognition he deserves with this album. I would love to see him at the top of the charts again.

5 out of 5 stars `Home At Last' is one of BRC's best! .......2007-07-25

What an awesome CD! `Home At Last' is flat out good music. Any of us who are parents will relate to the message and emotion in `Ready, Set. Don't Go'. Billy Ray wrote the song about his daughter Miley, but the first time I heard it I thought about my son growing up. It's a beautiful song that deserves to be heard on radio stations around the country.

`The Beginning' is also a fantastic song that I hope country radio will embrace. It has the potential to be a big hit on its own and hopefully it will be the second single from the CD. `Flying By' is also a favorite of mine. It talks about life flying by and I don't think there has ever been a truer song written.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who call Billy Ray Cyrus a `one hit wonder' because of his mega crossover hit `Achy Breaky Heart'. Nothing could be further from the truth! People who think that have been missing a lot of great music through the years and `Home At Last' is another example of great music from BRC.

5 out of 5 stars Buy it, you'll love it........2007-07-25

Ignore any negative reviews you have have read about Billy Ray over the years -- it's sour grapes. You'll be very glad you bought this CD...heck, buy his other CDs as I did a short time ago (after having rediscovered him after his stint on Dancing with the Stars) and I can't get enough! As you'll find, not all his songs are 'country'. He performs a lovely variety of arrangements. I love the sound of his voice..not only vocally, but I can hear his honesty and love for his fans and family through his voice.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Album !!!! Way To Go BRC.......2007-07-24

Every song on here is amazing and sang with so much Heart and Emotion. I can't remember how many times i have listened to it i lost count. I highley reccomend this to anyone who loves and enjoys music country or non. Billy Ray has a amzing voice and is very talented. If you have not heard a Billy Ray cd in a while you are missing out he has been putting out amazing music going way back to 1992 and has really evolved over the years you owe it to yourself to give this very uplifting Home at last cd a shot i don't think you will be disapointed. Nothing short of amazing also check out his long list of other albums here on amazon especially Wanna Be Your Joe, The Other Side and Time Flies the more recent albums in the last few years. And the price is such a steal you can't lose.

Amazon.com essential recording

This is Etta James's first full-length album, recorded for Chess Records' Argo subsidiary in 1960. It taps all aspects of her then-blossoming talent. There's the crooning rock ballad "My Dearest Darling" and the elegantly symphonic "Sunday Kind of Love." Her classic, brokenhearted "All I Could Do Was Cry" follows the sweet title track and the bawdy blues stomper "I Just Want to Make Love to You." And there's a version of Harold Arlen's "Stormy Weather," which Lena Horne made famous. James's fine way with such a wide embrace of material wouldn't again be this well displayed on a single album until she was united with producer Jerry Wexler for 1977's Deep in the Night. --Ted Drozdowski

Amazon.com

The R&B queen's classic collection is augmented this time around by a long-overdue digital remastering, plus a few bonus tracks, presumably for those who found the original album a little on the brief side. In addition to James's well-known hits, including "I Just Want to Make Love to You" and "Stormy Weather," there are four additional songs: "My Heart Cries," "Spoonful," "It's a Crying Shame," and "If I Can't Have You." Although one might cynically suggest that these were added to give Etta fans something to purchase besides The Essential Etta James, it's definitely true that these tracks are worth hearing. --Genevieve Williams

I like the CD, but there is a lot of feedback from the amplifier during the song play on the CD - it ruins parts of the songs.

For the parent looking to ease their child into a familiarity with classical music, this is a very well chosen set of Beethoven works. It begins with a generous selection of airs composed late in the composer's life. The presence of the flute as the lead instrument on these selections has a soothing quality that moves the ear in an ideally subtle way, especially as it gives way to the more excited piano sonata pieces. Zoltán Kocsis's reading of "Pathétique" is followed by Claudio Arrau's take on the 7th, 15th, and 18th sonatas and Sviatoslav Richter's lyrical take on the 20th ("Pastoral"). Programmed amidst the piano pieces, which are great studies in dynamics and musical spacing, are some fine orchestral snippets, none longer than five minutes. The collection does a fine balancing act, condensing works that don't inherently lend themselves to shortened renditions and carefully managing moods, entry, and egress to each segment. This is fine anthology work. --Andrew Bartlett

5 out of 5 stars Beethoven for Babies.......2007-05-21

My baby and I really enjoy this CD. It is so fun to feel the baby get excited when I play it. I have a pillow speaker and just place it right up against my stomach. It evens helps me to get in a nap or just rest for a while.

5 out of 5 stars Nicest classical CD I have found for my baby (& me).......2005-09-01

This is a very pleasant CD to listen to, and I think the quality of the music is excellent. I enjoy listening to this with my 10 month old son, and we also listen to the radio and lots of modern music. I recently purchased 5 of the classical "Baby Einstein" CDs and I consider them to be inferior to this Beethoven for Babies CD. The Baby Einstein are very synthesized sounding and I think they are annoyingly mellow and kind of dopey. This Beethoven CD is beautiful. In fact I'm going to buy 1 or 2 more from this series.

5 out of 5 stars Ode To Beethoven.......2005-05-13

The actual reason I bought this cd is for "Fur Elise" but it turned out to be much more than I bargained for. Before road rage sets in while sitting in a traffic jam during rush hour, play this. If you need to take it easy and escape from your reality, play this. Need something to play at work that's not explicit or offensive, play this. Of course, it's not Beethoven himself, but if you need some quiet time, play this. Even while you read, you could play this. If you want some authenticity to your collection, get Beethoven for Babies.

3 out of 5 stars Pseudoscientific crap, but some of the music is good here.......2004-05-27

The 3 stars is only because the hucksters that put this together at least had the decency to tracks featuring Arrau & Richter on this CD. A lot of these "turn your baby into a genius with classical music" CDs and tapes feature only lousy musical performances from hack musicians you have never heard of.

That having been said, if you are stupid enough to believe any of this "Mozart Effect" horse manure --- which continues to have no support in any sort of controlled test environment --- then your babies will probably inherit your limited intellectual capacities & no amount of Beethoven & Mozart will ever be able to help them.

If, on the other hand, you are introducing Junior to classical music, you could do worse --- but you could also do better. Go get Arrau's complete Beethoven sonatas & concerti, get the Berg Quartett's complete Beethoven quartet cycle, and get John Eliot Gardiner's complete Beethoven symphonies --- just for a start. Also, don't stop with Beethoven & Mozart. My 9-month old daughter gets a diverse exposure to a thousand years of music, and very little is off limits. She got acquainted with the Bartok Quartets within her first couple of months, and it doesn't look like we have created an axe murderer or anything like that.

Anyway, if you want to create a classical music lover, do it right and go the distance, rather than doing it piecemeal with CDs like this. Your baby may still be a moron, but at least will be a moron with exquisite taste.

5 out of 5 stars Instruments of the Orchestra - Great Reference Material!.......2007-04-04

This set lends itself to greatly enhancing one's knowledge of the orchestra, instruments in it, and their usage. I am a huge music buff, and I still picked up a great deal I previously did not know. I highly recommend this for all who wish to understand the origin of music, as well as the processes that are employed to create music!

5 out of 5 stars Beginner or Expert.......2007-03-12

This CD is excellent for the beginner or expert! To be able to haear the instrumets separately and then together really provides a good education. and/or refresher. The book thaty comes with the CD is alomost worth the price by itself!

5 out of 5 stars Very Informative and Enjoyable.......2006-11-20

Whether you're a music novice or pro, "The instruments of the Orchestra" is a very worthwhile purchase. The 7 CDs, with a total of 8 hours, are expertly narrated by Jeremy Siepmann. He's a great speaker, very much like the late Leonard Bernstein was. Mr. Siepmann takes you on an unforgetable musical journey covering the origins and use of the various orchestral instruments throughout musical history. The balance between his narration and a wealth of musical examples, which range from snippets to entire movements, is superb. The comprehensive enclosed booklet is excellent and faithfully follows the 7 CDs in content. Even with my 40+ years of music training I still learned new things from this wonderful collection. Considering the excellence of the content, and a cost that translates to about $5 per disc, this collection is a great value. Grab it, you won't regret that you did. Five solid stars!

    3 out of 5 stars Frank's view.......2006-08-19

This boxed set of CD's with booklet achieved all I had hoped that it would. There are good samples of individual instruments and well done commentary on each. The only drawback was that some of the samples were too brief and could have been longer, hoiwever I guess this fits in with time constraints of the medium. It has given me a lot of clues as to future purchases of CD's for listening to individual instruments. Altogeth a satisfactory purchase and a welcome addition to my collection.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Intro for Those Not Familiar with the Orchestra.......2003-11-08

I've listened to classical music for years and am interested in composition. I bought this CD set to learn how an orchestra and its instruments work. I thought the CDs would be a nice but boring lecture. They aren't! Not only are they FUN but they are informative as well. I learned a huge amount from each CD and couldn't wait to listen to the next one.

The narrator and writer is a great speaker and holds your attention well. He is definitely knowledgeable. He provides musical examples for each point he makes, so you get to "hear" what he just talked about. I'd say the CDs are about 65% music and 35% narration. You'll learn about the range of instruments, some history, different ways to play them, how they sound, and how they are used in the orchestra. This CD set was a great learning experience and is sold at such a low price!

I recommend this CD for those who want to learn about classical music and those who know about it but are interested in learning more about the inner workings of an orchestra. You'll learn much useful information. For instance, the Rite of Spring (with that eerie start) is written for bassoon! I never knew a bassoon could sound like that but now I do.

The one complaint I have is the last CD. This deals with the orchestra. I wanted more of a tour of how the orchestra has been used through history up to the present. Instead, it was a tour of how different groups of instruments sound. I thought it could have been better. The other 6 CDs are excellent.

The genius of At Last...The Duets Album is in its matchups and cross-pollinations. If producer Walter Afanasieff weren't already a much sought after music man--check out his arrangements here if his talents are unfamiliar--he might have built a brilliant career as a modern-day cupid. These are covers with a what-if factor (what if Brian McKnight covers Wham!? What if Richard Marx covered Elton John?) you don't want to miss: LeAnn Rimes wraps Bryan Adams' anthem-y "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" in rainy-day heartache; Yolanda Adams reaches for the stars in a rendition of R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" as inspiring as the original; Barbra Streisand waltzes through "The Music That Makes Me Dance" like the years since her heyday haven't mattered; and Earth, Wind & Fire dig the depth out of Raphael Saadiq's "The Way You Move." This, of course, is to say nothing of the sensuality brought to these collaborations by the goldilocked sax man himself. As with all Kenny G projects, the music is smoother than a frappuccino and oddly suited to a soap opera living room set; its swirls, swells, and crescendos seem meant to fall on bejeweled ears in pretty, carefully appointed spaces only. All-instrumental tracks like "Don't Know Why" with David Benoit and "Pick Up the Pieces" with David Sanborn have a fun look-at-me-sharing-the-spotlight quality, but in the end Chaka Khan puts across her point most convincingly: She, not Christina Aguilera, should have sung "Beautiful" to begin with. -Tammy La Gorce

    4 out of 5 stars Nice change.......2006-12-13

You know it's sad when someone has to put down another person just to make them feel bigger. I found this album was a fresh change to doing cover songs - face it, everyone in the industry is doing covers, but I really liked the different feel to them. There are some not so great Duet albums out there, unfortunately I have even bought a few, but I feel this one is a good buy...

    5 out of 5 stars Kenny G- Duets.......2006-11-10

Kenny G is excellent in this duets CD. Him along with other greats make for very enjoyable listening.

    1 out of 5 stars Kenny G is a horrible saxophonist.......2006-08-14

Please noone buy this cd. It is a waste of your time, and the fact that so many people buy this cd goes along with how humans are getting more idiotic as we destroy the planet and continue to rise conflicts in other countries that could amount to a bigger picture. Kenny G is a horrible saxophonist, and all he plays are simplistic lines that people can wrap their heads around easily. If you want to listen to a great saxophonist, listen to Kenny Garret. Or Cannonball Adderly, John Coltrane, Joshua Redman, Wayne Shorter. If you like smooth jazz, Gerald Albright is an excellent saxophonist to listen to.

5 out of 5 stars Very nice! My favorite CD of his yet...........2006-06-17

I always find it humerous that far less accomplished "musicians" will blast Kenny's success all over the place, and basically rate him with the likes of a middle school wannabe. Bottom line - he is successful, he caters to the "average" listener without the ear fatigue that normally accompanies heavy jazz, he is respected among his peers in the business (as evidenced by his duets), and he repeats what works for his success. To trash his talent and success is to also trash the notable musicians and singers who obviously respect him enough to record with him on this CD. He's made millions, so there is an enormous fan base out there that doesn't care much for the jealous comments by aspiring performers. My advice is to judge for yourself!

If you appreciate great musicians coming together to produce some really listenable music, (and I do mean, over and over without ear fatigue), then this CD is for you! I only hope he doesn't stop here. I hope he comes out with more duet albums in the future. Maybe some Chicago, Rascal Flatts, Peter Cetera, Tower of Power, and any number of other great voices in the business!

My favorite is the remix of "The Way You Move"...nice grooves in there! If I had one complaint, it would be that the songs didn't actually line up in the order on which they were listed on the CD cover. Other than that, it's at the top of my favorites in my library of 3,000+ CDs!

1 out of 5 stars It is OK ! Next time, team up with Anita Baker and Regina Belle !.......2006-05-28

The girl who just wanted to have fun has matured into a sensitive interpreter of eclectic standards. Taking a cue from Rod Stewart Cyndi Lauper applies her formidable pipes to an eclectic collection of covers that range from a few Edith Piaf tunes ("La Vie En Rose" and "Hymn to Love") to classics from the songbooks of Bacharach/David, Etta James, and Smokey Robinson. Although there are some upbeat tracks such as the remarkably authentic Specials-styled ska of a radically reworked "Sunny Side of the Street," a rather forced but fun duet with Tony Bennett on "Makin' Whoopee," and the cha-cha, Ricky Ricardo-ized version of Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs' "Stay," the album predominantly floats in a sober, pensive mood. Piano and subtle orchestrations add tension to sensitive readings of "Unchained Melody," "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," and an eerily somber "Walk on By." The effect is haunting and intimate as Lauper unleashes her inner Tori Amos. Shifting "You've Really Got a Hold on Me" into an aching ballad, the singer shows her remarkable vocal range and interpretive ability. Lauper's voice sparkles throughout, especially without the overproduction that has marred some of her previous efforts. As its title infers, At Last finally shows her true colors. --Hal Horowitz

5 out of 5 stars CD- Cyndi Lauper -At Last.......2007-07-12

I knew I loved this CD, as a friend has it. It's every bit as good as I remembered! A more mature style for Cyndi. My favourite version to date of "Unchained Melody".

1 out of 5 stars Amateur hour, starring Cyndi Lauper.......2007-06-03

The 4 and 5 star ratings show that Lauper has a large fan base that is largely tone deaf or simply doesn't care how their idol sings. The 1 and 2 star ratings indicate that there are some people that have heard the definitive versions of these classics and won't be folled by bad imitations. Nothing typifies the out-of-key, poor delivery of these classics more than Cyndi's failed attempt to sing "If You Go Away", a song so lovely that I didn't think it was possible to ruin. Just listen to this great Jacques Brel ballad, known as Ne Me Quitte Pas in the original French, sung by anyone else and you'll have to agree that Lauper doesn't even come close to expressing the poignancy of the song. I recommend that you listen to Nina Simone, Patricia Kaas, Neil Diamond, The Seekers, Dusty Springfield, Julio Iglesias and others that can stay in-key and deliver it masterfully.

She also had no business attempting Unchained Melody, Walk On By and Don't Let Me Be Understood. Her producer deserves as much admonishment for steering Lauper's song selection in the wrong direction.

Lauper should stick to the fast paced pop that allows her to wail with abandon on simple, small-range melodies. For this reason, her delivery of "Stay" is acceptable.

4 out of 5 stars Cyndi a Light Jazz stylist? Yes........2007-05-18

She sounds good with heavy or light production and the soft, classical piano intro. on the title tune told me I'm gonna pretty much like this album. I can say now I love *parts* of this album and that's saying something. Other similiar efforts by Harry Conick, Rod Stewart, Etta James, and Elvis Costello...well, they're not as good.
Her vocal on the opener mentioned above will penetrate to your spine, then enlighten your mind, and enliven your soul. She goit to me on True Colors and she's done it again. Her final note is a bit strained and I daresay off-key, but the *feeling* is undeniable.
Walk On By is equally memorable - i've got to place it alongside Dionne Warwicks' and Isaac Hayes' recordings.
"Hymn To Love" has more melodious tones emanating from the heart. The quiet support does the trick.
Until You Come Back To Me..., actually the first track I accessed, is a nice "lounge" sound, but lounges are good - sip that club soda with lime....and dream along to this little chunk-a wunda.
Let's see, "Makin' Whoopie" with Tony B., don't dig it - they shoulda dueted on When Will The Bells Ring For Me?
The closer, On The Sunny side Of The Steet, ahs some cool contrast, but, 12 songs sell the CD. To me. To anyone.

    5 out of 5 stars Cyndi's Finest Work.......2007-05-08

"At Last" is Cyndi Lauper's 8th studio album and was released in 2003. The album made it in the top 40 on the album charts in both the United States and Australia, which earned Gold. Not to mention the other places it topped too, such as #6 in Japan, which earned Platinum, #4 in Germany and even Columbia which earned Gold too. "At Last" features mostly covers from other artists of the past such as Glenn Miller, who first sang "At Last", Edith Piaf's "La Vie En Rose", The Miracles' famous hit "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" and etc of other artists. Even though the album is a little depressing and boring, Cyndi is at her vocal best, full of emotion, power, strength and each song on the album compliments each other really well. also not to forget the cd comes in a cardboard box that floods out. Cyndi co-produced the album with Russ Titelman.

5 out of 5 stars CYNDI LAUPER IS RADIANT- AT LAST!.......2007-03-27

When Cyndi Lauper first burst upon the music scene in the 1980's, she astounded us with her power, energy, and unique personality. Two decades, dozens of albums and many grammys later, Cyndi still astounds us, but in a very different way. Her latest work, "AT LAST", shows a deep maturity and broad vocal range only hinted at in her earlier records. The album begins with its stunning title cut, and segues into a beautifully arranged version of WALK ON BY. Lauper's voice is the perfect instrument for the album's two Edith Piaf songs, LA VIE EN ROSE and HYMN TO LOVE, and adds a haunting depth to the Nina Simone classic DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD. However, this singing star has never shone more brightly than when she unleashes her mega-talent on the iconic UNCHAINED MELODY. If anyone ever doubted Cyndi Lauper's vocal gift and ability, listening to this mesmerizing version of UNCHAINED MELODY will alleviate their doubts forever. Some artists find comfort in staying in their same groove for their entire career. Luckily for us, Cyndi Lauper continues to grow as an artist, and AT LAST is her masterwork.

5 out of 5 stars The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra needs a guitar player!.......2006-11-09

Granted, they only need it for one composition (the last one, "The James Bond Theme") but still, without the guitar it's just not the same. Barry didn't compose this one so I suppose it was a bonus and I shouldn't complain, really. The rest of the music on all the CDs is fantastic. Some of the stuff I had heard before without realizing who had composed it. Very enjoyable, to say the least.

    5 out of 5 stars Persuaders Theme!.......2006-03-02

Buy it for the Persuaders theme, probably the best TV theme song ever written.

    5 out of 5 stars A Variety Of Classics!.......2005-12-06

John Barry has been composing film scores for over forty years and this is only scratching the surface of his productions. Never mind that the entire set is recorded by the Prague Philharmonic; it's pure to Barry's themes. While John Williams compositions ("Star Wars", etc.) are wild and flamboyant and Jerry Goldsmith's (Hoosier's, etc.) are mood pieces, John Barry crosses over all barriers and is amazingly diverse. Barry has recorded most of the exciting James Bond themes, melodramatic classics like "The Lion In Winter' and moody theme hits like "Midnight Cowboy". He also tugs at the heartstrings with compositions from, "Somewhere In Time", "Frances" and "Out Of Africa". He varies his themes for all types of films and few composers capture it so well.

There is over four hours of music in this set with a colorful and informative booklet.

5 out of 5 stars Incredible Barry Collection.......2004-03-11

Any fan of movies will absolutley love this collection. Being a movie buff I couldn't wait to get this boxed set. Knowing Barry from all the James Bond movies, I did not realize his involvement with so many others. The orchestra is magnificent in all these themes. I'm listening to "High Road to China" right now and I'm drifting in the clouds in a Tiger Moth with Tom Selleck and Bess Armstrong. If you are familiar with a movie it will definitely have you seeing it again, if not the scores are still beautiful. Any fan of classical music will be pleased as well. Travellers will defintitely enjoy it for a long drive. I know from when I use to travel that music like this made the miles float by faster. I highly recommend these four CDs even if you just know a handful of the songs.

5 out of 5 stars Amazingly Done. Train at their Best........2006-07-05

Alive At Last was actually the first Train CD I owned. And quite frankly, I'd prefer them live to recorded any day. The band seems to be having a lot of fun performing and it makes you get in a good mood as well. Some people are complaining about the audience, but I think it makes the CD that much better. The vocals are dead on, for the most part, and there are some songs you can't help but dance to.

    My favorites...
    1. Meet Virginia
    2. Save The Day (I love how it starts out)
    3. Get To Me
    4. Landmine
    5. All American Girl (probably my absolute favorite song on the album)
    6. When I Look To The Sky (IMO, the best vocal track)

    Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Mill. Classical review.......2007-05-13

This is a great set of recordings for the money, the only problem was I've had to clean some of the CD's before they played correctly.

4 out of 5 stars classical music for the unitiated.......2007-04-01

This set is a good way to start listening to classical music. It's very well produced and easy to listen to. I purchased it to use as part of my world history high school class. It would have been nice to have some bio information on the composers. However, the product is exactly as advertised and good value for the money. The students were intrigued by how many of the excerpts they had heard before.

4 out of 5 stars Some little gems there that I had forgotten!.......2007-03-30

Although I studied classical music at school, I had all but forgotten it until I bought this set. I heard several tracks I haven't heard for over 30 years, and I had been humming Brahms's 'Hungarian Dance no. 5' for years without ever knowing what it was and it was on the disc, so that was nice.

I found it to be a very good selection overall, but I felt too much had already been heard on TV, which of course is what lots of newcomers to classical music might appreciate. I managed to find about 2 hours of tracks that I wanted to keep, which works out quite expensive per disc, but I did find some wonderful music I had completely forgotten about, so it was worth it. All in all, it represents good value, and I have only knocked one star off as so much of it had been used in adverts.

It is definitely a good introduction to classical music, and it has made me want to listen to more of it, so I don't regret this 'expensive' purchase one bit!

Classical Masterpieces of the Millennium [20 CD Set]

    5 out of 5 stars A very helpful collection.......2007-03-24

I define this set as an excellent way to find out who you like, and who you don't, among 20 of the important composers. It opens the door to purchasing more complete pieces by composers you do like, and can save a lot of time and money in the process.
To criticize the set for not containing more composers, or more than just snippets of those who are in the set, is missing the point: it is a helpful introduction to finding your way in the huge maze of classical music. It succeeds admirably in this.
Sound quality is uniformly very good on an audiophile system.
    Highly recommended.

    5 out of 5 stars Excellent!.......2007-03-08

A great way to start a classical music collection. It's nice to have a full CD of each composer. It makes it easy to keep track of selections/composers I already have and what composers I still need to puchase to complete my collection.
