Customer Reviews:
VERY BAD.......2000-09-10
The Spice Girls aren't even a real group. They are just a manufactured marketing ploy that has served their business creators well. The girls are really pathetic. They are just a pitiful bunch of musical "wannabes" and they can't act their way out of a Chevrolet. They are really bad. Don't waste your hard earned money. This is really bad. Nasty Spice, Rancid, Rotten, Stinky and Stupid can't sing for their supper. Very bad.
This single really will SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!.......1999-12-15
This is one of my fave Spice Girls songs. The first track is the original, the second is a remix, that goes for 11, yes 11, minutes! Its a really cool remix though. The third is another remix, not as good as the first one.
LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LAAAAAAA!.......1999-08-31
WHEN YOU'RE FEELING SAD AND LOW WE WILL TAKE YOU WHERE YOU GOTTA GO! Right there! Thats where the spice girls sum up their Spice Mission! This is one of the best pop songs ever written (and to all the nayesayers out there they DO write their own stuff!) From beginning to end it never lets up and it never lets you down! The latino--actually in this case the LATINA-- beats get you moving and grinding instantly. The 2 remixes are 2 of the best remixes of ANY SONG i have ever heard. In most cases the remix is not as good as the original. Usually the spirit and heart of the original is lost and replaced with soules drum beats. Here however the original ARRIBA ARRIBA AYE AYE AYE energy is alive and well and spiced up even more with killer beats and rythms. Best part is when the vocals fade in and out during the morales mix! wicked! This is one of my favourite songs of all time! Pure pop. clean and simple. to the point. HI-C YA HOLD TIGHT!!
Morales & Murk do Spice!!! What more can you ask for?!?!.......1999-07-21
This song is one of my all-time party anthems. But not the original version (which I do love, don't get me wrong), but the Morales Carnival Club Mix kicks!!! From the opening drum roll to the very last beat, Morales has you giving your all! The Murk boys don't do so bad themselves, giving this song a very Latin feel, incorporating lots of maraccas and bongo drums. The only downfall to the Murk mix is the last thirty seconds where some idiot stutters some sort of crazy chant. Other than that, this is essential Spice.
"Spice Up Your Life" is the best Spice Girls song!!!!!.......1999-03-12
I love the Spice Girls! This is the best Spice Girls song as well! It has such an awesome beat! This song is so packed with energy and girl power. This title has become my motto. If there is one saying you should live by, it's SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Album Description
Singer Richie Spice was one of the most exciting talents to emerge from Jamaica in 2004 with the international hits 'Earth A Run Red' and 'Marijuana'. The album Spice In Your Life was an underground smash. Establishing Richie as a musical force to be reckoned with and helping to further the roots rebirth movement in reggae. Now, VP Records has remastered and recompiled the original album adding two additional hit tracks from 2005. "Spinning Around' and 'Ghetto Girl' on the Hard Times riddim freshen the sequence and document the progression of the artist to the present time. 2006.
Customer Reviews:
Strictly for Promotional Purposes. . ........2006-06-27
Reggae giant VPRecords made a rather large statement earlier this year in signing up Richie Spice. Over the last 3-4 years Spice has proven himself one of the bigger hitmakers in all of reggae music and has definitely carved out a rather large fanbase for himself. In doing so, instead of, as traditionally, allowing him to go and make his album, they have chosen to release his sophomore album, released originally in 2004 for 5th Element Records.
This is an odd release for VP. They have done this in the past for records such as Sizzla's Good Ways and Black Woman & Child and more recently a few of their own albums (such as the Lalabella riddim album) but this one seems to be for new reason than to promote the forthcoming Spice release for VP. Yes, the original was not on wide release (why Jetstar or SOMEONE never picked up the distribution for both it and Chuck Fender's album Better Days is a mystery to me), and I know people who could not find it for awhile. But it's place was a rather comfortable one, it still had a fine run and to be re-released after just TWO years seems at least somewhat unusual.
Musically, you can't question the intentions. Spice in Your Life is a fine fine album, but as I said, the album is just 2 years old, so the big tunes here are still rather fresh on the tip of your tongue.
Best tune here is without a doubt Earth a Run Red, the tune which has run Spice's career red to date. Excellent big big tune. Also check Black a Tar, 911, Folly Living, the massive Marijuana from the 5th Element riddim and the combination with Chuck Fenda, Fake Smile. 2 songs are added here which were not on the 5E release, the unremarkable accoustic Spinning Around and Ghetto Girl which just happens to be on the Hardtimes riddim, one of the biggest from '04, so chances are good you probably know that one as well. (definitely looking forward to Just the Other Day to be included on the new album)
Overall, get this one, ONLY if you missed out on the first round of releases. (And if you are a reggae fan then shame on you for missing it). The songs here will sound a little played, their older, but not old enough to where you'll just revel in hearing them again, most of these songs will still make the cut on a Spice stage show. This probably would have been better released as a double with the new release, however, no fault to the artist, big big songs here, wonderful message and just all around good music. Looking forward to this fall for the new album.

You go Marlena - FINALLY...Cadet/Verve saw fit to re-issue Marlena's long-lost '69 soul/jazz classic SPICE OF LIFE, featuring some of the earliest and best vocal performances - but the cut that really captures this era is her amazingly funky take on CALIFORNIA SOUL - really, it's worth the price of the entire CD just for this nugget - I defy you to listen to Marlena's strut on this song and not snap your fingers and groove along - roll down the windows, drive up PCH, and blast it!

Customer Reviews:
I really enjoyed this cd.......2004-03-19
Being a bass player myself I really enjoyed this cd becuase of the variety of music featured on it! I hope other people can enjoy it and appriciate it as well!
For Doublebass players.......2000-04-30
Nice arrangements, wonderful sound, a wide variety of songs but I wanted to listen more to Gary Karr. The interpretation of Moses Fantasy is better that the one played with the RSO Berlin Orchestra. If you are a DoubleBass player, this is a must. If you aren't, you'll hear what a doublebass can do and how sensitive it could be. I couldn't stop laughing when I heard for the first time the "sarcastic" version of Wannabe. This album is like a Raritie. If your're really looking for a serius album to know better the doublebass, this is not the first one that I'll chose. But it's really fun!
London Double Bass Sound.......2000-04-27
This CD is certainly an interesting concept, however musically speaking it doesn't quite hit the mark that it intended. Fans of Gary Karr should certainly consider buying this CD because his performances are inspiring and the ensemble does a nice job of accompanying, however the selection of repetoire does not always help the bassists' fight for serious recognition. "The Elephant" sounds grotesque enough with only one bass playing it, but here there are four basses on the solo line. The jazz tunes are nice, but lack a certain excitement and the inclusion of the Spice Girls' "Wannabe", as humorous as it may have intended to be, may set the double bass back a few steps in the eyes of the general, non bass playing public.

GREAT CD.......2005-05-02
If you're looking for something that's not boring as hell, you'll like this. I NEVER review anything EVER, but this was good enough to review. If you're into tracks that are "head bobbers", like beat styles that include for eg: roscoe - cali in the summertime, 2pac - god bless the dead, tech n9ne - walk these shoes, etc......those good, hard hittin, smacking sounding snare beats that make you bob your head. You'll like this. Very good lyrically too. Not cheesy at all. Listen to it, you'll like it if you know what good rap is.
blah.......2004-12-05
first off the first three reviews are just copied form another website review. this is a good album , ended up downloading the whole thing after hearing udunwantnon. jus download it
Some People Dont Know Good Music.......2004-04-02
I almost didn't download this CD because of one of the reviews but all the other ones were so good I had to see what was up.... After listening to the whole album I was convinced that someone had been hatein a little bit, but hey everyone has their own tastes. If you like that real westcoast lyrical sh@t than you will like this album!!!!
don't get this twisted..........2003-10-23
Livio shouldn't be confused with the under. At least thats impression i got. I downloaded all the tracks based on these reviews expecting some dope ish, only to be disappointed to find he would fit right in with the trash that infests the airways and mtv to date. The beats are weak too fast and full of beepin and clickin. I may be a little to critical of this but i had to balance out these inflated reviews. To his credit for his age he does have some lyrical skill, but not enough to buy anything with his name on it.
~peace
best rapper ever.......2003-07-02
livio is one of the best lyricists i have ever heard. this cd is bomb; every song has good lyrics and most have good beats. if there was one rap cd i could buy right now that is out, livio would be it. he is so unheard of for his skill level. im tellin ya this is tight. if ur into mainstream then u might not like this, but if u enjoy good lyrics on rap songs then this is the cd to get. cop it!

The Snake-Still a Classic.......2004-12-15
This is worth the price I believe. Al Wilson has a good voice and sense of rhythm. Shortly before "Show and Tell" was released in 1973, I had the opportunity to speak to him in between shows where he was playing to only a couple hundred people in a club. I told him then that "The Snake" was one of my top ten favorite songs of the "rock and roll" era, not yet 20 years old. It's still true all these years later. His two major hits and the others on this compilation make it worth the price. A rollercoaster career I suppose, but I for one remain impressed.
SSSSSSS THE SNAKE SSSSSSSSSS.......2002-10-25
I bought this cd because "AL Wilson" music is hard to find.
The song "Show and Tell" is easy to find because it is on a lot of oldie cd's, and it is a great song.
I bought this cd because I wanted to have and hear "The Snake". This is a great song, it tells a story that all women should hear. "Shut up silly woman said that reptile with a grin...you knew darn well I was a snake when you took me in".
I didn't know much about Mr Wilson's music other than "Show and Tell", "The Snake", La La (Peace Song) and "I've Got A Feeling (We"ll Be Seeing eac Other Again)". I've Got a Feeling is NOT on this album, the rest of these songs are.
There are some real good songs on this cd,the best ones are "We're Gonna Need One Another", "Lightning Bolts, Tornadoes and Rainbows" and "Lolita From Bonita".
You can't go wrong with this cd. The above songs are well worth the price and like I said, Al Wilson is hard to find.
Would you expect anything less?.......2001-06-16
After years of listening to Al Wilson I wouldn't expect anything less than fantastic. He does it again in 2001. Fantastic C.D. It's not only that "melt me" voice, but the combination of songs on this C.D. brings enjoyment for whatever mood one may be in. As someone who is very critical of music and talent, I can honestly say this is well worth the investment. With his past hits and new songs, "Spice of Life" can be listened to and enjoyed by not only Mr. Wilson's long-time fans (with such songs as, Show and Tell and LaLa Peace Song) but "true" music lovers of all generations. Bravo for "Spice of Life"
