Product Description
Venice Beach has always been a popular tourist attraction. Hundreds of people stroll the boardwalk; compete against one another in basketball; utilize the gym, which is centrally located between the boardwalk and the beach; and shop from the various tents filled with clothing, shoes, etc. or from vendors selling incenses, lucky beads, and other novelty items. If feeling really experimental, one may even indulge in a little tarot card or palm reading. With its ability to attract so many, some aspiring artists came to the conclusion that the best place to put on a show where you know a crowd would be yet would cost nothing is Venice Beach. The familial group The Boys sang their hearts out there; comedian Michael Collier had people laughing at him at the hot spot. And just as artists before them and artists after them, Immature made their debut at the infamous waterfront attraction. Known as "the boys from Venice Beach," Immature's Jerome Jones (Romeo), Marques Houston (Batman) and Don Santos (Half Pint) would perform for the hundreds visiting the beach on the weekends.

Interestingly enough, the group didn't grow out of childhood friends singing together in the garage. Eight-year-old Jerome, who had known soon-to-be-manager Chris Stokes for a while, was the first member of the 'childish' act. While at a talent show, Stokes and Jones saw Marques Houston perform a dance routine and thought he would be a good member for the developing act. Don Santos' talent was observed and, consequently, he was thrown in the mix. Ta Da! Immature was born. Second step: names for the trio. Surely going by their birth given names would not fly well with the general public. There had to be something catchy, some name that would be indicative of their diverse personalities. Jerome became known as "Romeo" because of his light-colored eyes and 'pretty boy' look. Marques got the name Batman because he used to wear underwear on his head. Of course that wouldn't be appropriate while performing so with a little innovation, underwear was placed over the hats he wore and pieces of the hat would be pulled through the legs of the underwear, which made them look like ears. And little Don Santos was called "Half Pint" for obvious reasons. Third step: imaging. Immature were dressed in over-sized, hip-hop gear as a gimmick. Their clothing was unique in style, cutting edge fashion, if you will. Immature's outfits weren't easily accessible, which made their appearance all the more fascinating.

5 out of 5 stars Still Love It x2!!!.......2006-07-09

Just like "Playtyme Is Over", "We Got It" is a classic to me. Immature did it twice in a row and I fell in love with them all over again. I couldnt get enough of this CD then and today I still love it.

4 out of 5 stars STILL LOVE IT IN 2006!.......2006-07-04

I really loved Immature when I was a young teen. I purchased this album about 3 years after it came out and I haven't been disappointed since. It's good to know that you can buy an album and still enjoy it so many years later.

Marques Houston has an amazing voice and this album proves just how great he was even back in '95. As someone already said, if you were an avid Immature fan, this album should already be in your collection. A true classic!

My favorites:
- Please Don't Go
- Lover's Groove
- Pager
- Just a Little Bit
- Feel The Funk

5 out of 5 stars They did it again!.......2005-11-13

The thing about Immature that has always made girls swoon is their sweet love songs and their "We Got It" album is no exception. I bought this album when it was first released in 1995 and I still love it 10 years later. It features a very special song called "Please Don't Go." This song is special especially to Marques because he wrote the song shortly before his mother died of cancer. This song was dedicated to her. It's such a beautiful song. I would say that song is reason enough to buy this album. It's about losing a loved one, which I think a lot of us can relate to. I love the title track "We Got It". I love: Candy, Pager, I Can't Stop The Rain, and Lover's Groove. This album is a must-have!! Anyone who was an Immature fan should already have this, but if not...what are you waiting for? BUY IT!!! :-)

OOOoooo I loved this album so much when I was 10 years old! They were my favorite boy band growing up. "We Got It", "Feel The Funk", and "Please Don't Go" was my favorite tracks and big hits of theirs. I also loved "Lover's Groove" and "I Can't Stop the Rain" are my favorite tracks off this album.

Bubblegum-soul has been a staple of the R&B charts from the Jackson 5 through New Edition to the New Kids on the Block. Dominating the genre this year is Immature, the L.A. trio that scored a top-10 single with "Never Lie." Immature may well be one of the few bubblegum-soul groups to outlast adolescence because it has two important assets: a marvelous ballad singer in 13-year-old Marques Houston and a hook-savvy songwriter-producer in Chris Stokes. Deftly balancing sweet soul harmonies and hip-hop beats, the Immature album Playtime Is Over has pleasures beyond its hit single and rewards for listeners of all ages. Houston and his two bandmates, Jerome Jones and new addition Kelton Kessee, were only 12 when they recorded the album but they sound markedly more accomplished and sophisticated than they did on the group's '93 debut flop. The puppy-love innocence of songs like "Walk You Home" and "Summertime" is refreshing in the current R&B scene, but anyone who has ever had a romantic impulse will identify with the giddy infatuation of "I Don't Mind" and the new single, "Constantly." A few raps are sprinkled through the album, but the emphasis is clearly on romantic balladry, and the combination of Stokes's catchy melodies, the silky three-part harmonies, and Houston's relaxed, seductive leads proves irresistible. --Geoffrey Himes

5 out of 5 stars Still Love It!.......2006-07-09

Twelve years after this album was released I still love it. "Never Lie" is still one of my favorite songs and I still get the same tingly feeling inside when I hear it as I did when I was 14. This CD, for me, is another classic I will never let go of.

4 out of 5 stars great album.......2005-09-25

i LOVED this cd back in the day and i still do. if you're a really big fan like me....GET THIS ALBUM!

3 out of 5 stars Adult's Playtyme.......2005-07-03

As most of the music industry's 'kiddie' groups that are one hit, one album wonders, Immature had a sound and a style that changed and led them to multiple releases and hits. What makes this album standout is the production and the slow grooves. "Never Lie", produced by Chris Stokes (also responsible for B2K, Marques Houston and Omarion) & Claudio Cueni captured the group in a more sophisticated atmosphere with the live acoustic guitar. Young Marques Houston was impressive on the mature "Constantly", which in fact happen to be the song that made me purchase this album. Both versions of "I Don't Mind" instantly rekindle memories. I wish the Padapella Mix of "Never Lie" was on here as well to push this on that other level.

5 out of 5 stars Not so Immature...........2005-01-03

I absolutely love Immature's "Playtyme Is Over" album. I listened to it a lot back in the day and I still listen to it. It's definitely one of the best albums of all time. It's mature, grown-up and sexy....a sound that many people would assume is inappropriate for 13-year-olds, but they pulled off the sound very well. To this day, I'm still a fan and this album is still one of my favorites. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Immature...and an extra special place for Batman. :)

5 out of 5 stars great.......2003-12-29

As soon as I heard "Never Lie" I was hooked. This song as well as the others are great. They sing such sophisticated songs despite their age. Great work boys !

3 out of 5 stars 3 1/2 stars -- on their BEST behavior.......2005-06-29

Yes...Immature (they will never be IMX to me)is sorely underrated in discussion of bonafide '90s R&B groups. Probably the best indication of this was on their debut album released at the tailend of new jack swing. Maybe the waning acceptance of the genre sunk the album, which was a shame because this is a pretty good nostalgic record. Though uneven, the pubescent trio (Batman, Romeo, Half-Pint) turned out some pretty impressive tracks, balancing traditional dance numbers with sappy ballads. I will admit -- when I first heard the record, it took me a while to overcome Marques Houston's shreeching high notes. But, it's refreshing nonetheless, given how today's singers barely register in your ears.

With the album itself, there isn't a dud track. The only subpar track is "I Wanna Know U That Way", and its actually not that bad. The rest of the album is very enjoyable, with the alternation of dance and balladry to balance the album quite nicely.

In sum, Immature barely registered their first time out. While their album was good, poor promotion and bad single choices committed their downfall. They would try again two years later to much better results and become industry heavyweights.

3 out of 5 stars Cute and nostalgic, but not great.......2002-12-02

This CD was not popular, and while it's not fantastic, it does deserve more credit than it got. It's a good debut CD, considering the guys were only about 10 years old. If you're a fan of the group, it's fun to listen to this and hear how it all began. There was some other kid instead of LDB, and he didn't seem to add much to the group. Batman was already taking the lead and was talented at singing slow songs. Romeo was already doing the rapping, although it didn't fit into the songs as well as it does now. This CD isn't up to "Playtime Is Over" standards, but some of the slow songs are almost as good. If you're looking for music from Immature/IMX as you know them, this isn't it. But if you want to hear their cute 10-year-old music and uncover some Immature history, get this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Immature is the best group to ever hit R&B!!!!!!!!!!!!:).......1999-04-16

The best song on this this CD is Da Munchies every time I hear that song I Get so happy. All the other songs are great to But I always request this song on my Birthday but it never gets played. The only time I hear it is on old school lunch. Or during the summer but that is not enough. I just want to say I love Immature. Mostly Batman & Romeo. LDB too!!!!

5 out of 5 stars aww so cute!.......1999-03-26

I know this was when they were just babies they are so cuuuute!all of there albums are da bomb!

5 out of 5 stars this album should of blown up.......1999-02-16

All there songs on this album is dope. Immature is the best must r&b group. They stay with some hype and theryl stuff from the 92 til now. I personally think they need awards for all the work they put in their albums.

5 out of 5 stars Take a JOurney with Immature!.......2005-12-19

I remember this album when I was in the 5th grade. THis group was not as popular as Usher and Destiny's Child(in 1998). This album is a collection of laid back grooves with tight lyrics . This group returned with their own image and sound mature. This album should have been promoted more. Remember, this was 1997-1998. This album did do well on the R&B charts.

This album,The Journey, was not selling well at all because the group lost their style(not a criticism). It was just that a lot of their fans could not accept their new style at the time. A lot of people were dissing this album. I believe that they did not take the time to listen to this album. Marques' voice has matured on this album.

5 out of 5 stars Take Journey Wit Them.......2005-10-29

"Give Up The Ghost" was a cool track with Brizzy Bone, "Tamika", "Extra, Extra" and "Don't Ever Say Never" are fie tracks.

5 out of 5 stars "Tamika".......2003-12-29

Tamika is a favorite song of mine. Each song is unique and its all good. Great work by immature once again.

4 out of 5 stars The journey to success.......2003-04-17

Immature (pre-IMx) were always a good group; so good that even guys weren't afraid to admit they liked their music. On this album, the guys have matured, and the subject matter has matured as well. And Batman does the lead vocals as usual, but here LDB shows his singing skills as well, and I actually think he should have been allowed to sing more.

There are a lot of good songs to choose from here, like the leadoff single "I'm Not A Fool", as well "Extra, Extra", "Tamika" and "Where Do We Go". But the last song is the very painful "All Alone", where Batman laments about his mother, whom he lost to cancer (it even sounds like he's crying while he's singing). The song is still good though.

The fast songs toward the middle of the album didn't really age that well, but Immature were never really known best for uptempo tracks anyway. If you don't have this album, at least give it a listen because the guys don't sound quite this good any more.

2 out of 5 stars MISSING!!!.......2002-11-21

I do not know what happened with this album. It seemed like they lost their formula on this one from the style of music to their looks on this album (What was up with the Retro Beatles thing) I did not like this album at all. The only song that I liked was Give up the Ghost with Bone. This cd is when Immature lost a majority of their audience because we all grew up and it seemed like they didn't really mature. Even their brother group B2K seems way more mature now especially with their new single BUMP, BUMP, BUMP!

Like a modern Motown sounding very white!!! A combination of alternative and soul music like Kings of Neon with a lot of parody. Comedy humor in the likes of SNL.

            Album Description

Jungle Junk! is Monty's first recording, created mostly on a four track tape machine in his living room. Layered in with the traditional sounds of guitar, piano and percussion are a variety of impromptu instruments and sound effects including cardboard tubes, a sink plug, a biscuit tin and Monty's own nose. The songs use playful language and project a sense of fun from a kid's point of view. From the rollicking "Jungle Junk" to the rocking "Play It on Your Nose" to the just plain goofy "Oddballs Singing a Round," this album definitely has a sound and style all its own. Children age 2 to 12 eat it up!
