Christina Milian's third bid at pop stardom is most definitely the charm: a hotter, more frothed-up blend of R&B and hip-hop has yet to surface this year. What makes So Amazin' so amazing is that it doesn't tiptoe up to anything: Cool & Dre, the top-drawer production team behind this effort, leave the futzing around with ballads and vocal gymnastics to those who have time for that stuff. With Milian, the focus is all sizzling beats and breathy come-ons; you're not a second in before Young Jeezy is slamming home the platitudes and encouraging you to give it up for what you're about to hear, which is something like a street-edged assemblage of coos, slick samples, and maddening hooks. Three 6 Mafia step up to take Milian on a late-night club twirl with "Who's Gonna Ride," and Lil Wayne also gives it up in a guest spot. Call Milian a Beyonce-J.Lo wannabe if you will--and the case can even be made that she skimps on the vocals in spots--but you can't discount her taste in beat makers. With Cool & Dre on her team, count on DJs to start a new summer campaign: Make mine Milian. --Tammy La GorceCustomer Reviews:
GREAT CD.......2007-06-26
It's Not As Amazing As I Would Have Liked.......2007-02-25
So UNAmazin', Just Download "Say I" (1.5 Stars).......2007-02-09
"Twisted" proves Christina Milian should have no writing credibility whatsoever with "It's so amazin, my heartbeat is racin, when I see your facin". Need I say that it gets worse the further you go down the song? Also the mentioning of the Bob Marley drug gets you nowhere. And the production of this song and the album is by Cool & Dre. Other than this work they've had a couple select hit singles like The Game's "Hate It Or Love It", but otherwise they are some pretty unknown producers as far as making pop music. And even worse to say that their production on this album is mostly lame. Especially on "Twisted", they uses plentiful horns and upbeat tempos to try to get a ghetto feel out of Christina Milian who, if I remember correctly, is as ghetto as Radio Disney. And that's no lie. "Gonna Tell Everybody" is better but what is that saying? The production is simple, and tries to be passed off as some sort of 90s styled soft rap thing when also keeping the original CM sound of 00s teen-pop. It fails. Vocally the track is pretty mediocre, Christina Milian sings off-key more than a couple of times in the chorus. And, speaking of the chorus, "I'm gonna tell everybody that you cheated" is the actual chorus. "Who's Gonna Ride" gets things even worse when Christina Milian once again fails to be ghetto. This time she starts rapping and oversinging "I ain't the one to cuss but f--- ya/Way before you went and copped that truck/When you're a-- got laid off boy/I should've listened to my ladies, when they told me". Well let's see here I highly doubt that Christina Milian has ever had a boyfriend that copped a truck before. Anyhow, Cool & Dre's overproduced synth drum pattern can't do anything to improve the song. And neither can Three 6 Mafia, they neither help nor hurt the song. "So Amazing" doesn't compliment the above, actually more-so it sounds exactly like the above which puts me once again to another point. This CD is about 43 minutes. It sounds like it is 15. Really all the songs have similar production until the end of the disc. Same overproduced jabber-jabber. Back to "So Amazing", well, Christina Milian still oversinging is apparent. The overproduced Cool & Dre music is still apparent. And, just completely odd lyrics are still apparent as well ( "Come over boy/Turn me over boy/Play with me/Lemme be ya sleepover toy") You know, this three-word rhyming (especially going from boy to toy) is getting old. Were is Ne-Yo when you need him most? And don't even get me started with "Hot Boy", which starts with "I can cook a steak up/while you hook up a steakout" and gets even worse into the song. Also I notice that Christina Milian only covers two things on this entire album. And that would be sex and living in the ghetto, one of which she has no experience with. Even parting away from the ghetto theme and attempting to create a man-theme, "Foolish" completely fails and moves into Ashanti World, and for the most part that is not a good thing. Christina Milian was always only an average vocalist so when she oversings, well, things get over just "shaky-bakey". And all things put aside, the editorial review calls "Milian a Beyonce-J.Lo wannabe if you will--and the case can even be made that she skimps on the vocals in spots." Sorry, but I don't think calling her a wanna-be J. Lo helps her cause. At least production on "Foolish" is a bit better than the rest as far as overproduction, but still no identity can be found other than she wants to fake a ghetto presence and oversing while doing so. At least there's one song that regains Milian's earlier talent, and that would be "My Lovin' Goes", but even that comes off as an average dance track. And lyrics still sound like someone half her age wrote them ("I'm writing you this letter to tell you how I'm feeling inside/To let you know that I like you") Well, at least she's not rapping. "Just A Little Bit" also attempts to go back to her It's About Time roots, but Cool & Dre wasn't producing her album with corny jazz-rap wannabes either. And halfway through the song I'm already sick of this album as a whole and furthermore sick of the uh-ohs throughout the song.
So, what else does this album have two offer? One, a completely boring jazz-wanna be ballad called "Y'all Ain't Nuthin". And it doesn't help that "She Don't Know" is the same song with different lyrics. In overall terms, Christina Milian's 3rd album was painful to listen to. Tons of "ghetto talk" and overproduction completely destroy what Milian has to offer. And her last two albums show she can pull off at least an average album. This time it doesn't happen. This time around Milian follows an overproduced ghetto-wannabe album that Raven Symone wouldn't touch with a 30 foot pole. Ah well, at least I got it for free. But even then, don't even download this. See if she offers something better the next go. 1.5 stars.

This Is Amazin' 'Mazin'.......2006-12-07
If you're looking for the standout track off the album, look no further than the title track "So Amazing." This club-banger was planned to be a single but due to lack of promotion of the album, it never happened. This would have the perfect single but I guess things disn't work out. The hit song has Christina doing pretty quick paced verses that kind of sound like she's rapping on it. I love Christina when she's rapping and she should do it on her next album. The ending of the song is one of the coolest endings ever to match up with this amazing song. She does say s*** a couple times but that's okay. Also, it may be hard to understand what she's saying during the second verse but it's my favorite part of the song.
Other hits from the album are "Hot Boy" and "Y'All Ain't Nuthin." "Hot Boy" has Christina teaming up with Dre again. She's more blunt on this song: "What they do, you's a mother[blurred] hot boy" and this edgier urban sounding Christina really suits her. If ballads are more your thing, then you'll enjoy "Y'All Ain't Nuthin." It has Christina telling off a boyfriend because he doesn't appreciate her like he should. Even if you're not going through a breakup, you can relate through the songs by other meanings [friends, family, etc].
"Say I," "Gonna Tell Everybody," "Who's Gonna Ride" and "Foolin'" are all pretty good in their own rights as well. "Say I" is the lead single featuring Young Jeezy. He doesn't bring much to the table but Christina picks up his slack with her singing. "Gonna Tell Everybody" is a beautiful ballad about Nick Cannon and the breakup they endured. You can really feel the pain in her voice as she sings it. The second verse is the best in my opinion where she repeats "You ain't got nothin' on me, you ain't got nothin' on me, really this thang ain't nothin." "Who's Gonna Ride" is a collaboration with Three 6 Mafia and is probably the best out of these four songs. I love how the chorus has the element of repeating: "Who's gonna ride [ride repeated a couple times similar to Three 6 Mafia's "Stay Fly"]. Once again, Christina is singing about Nick and the wrong he's caused. Pain always makes for good music. "Foolin'" is dedicated to an old boyfriend [she shouts him out in the song] and is pretty good. The msuic compliments her voice well. It was surprising to hear Christina say the "n-word" but it's not really offensive in my opinion.
The album doesn't really have any bad songs but if I had to choose them it would be "Twisted" because the song just doesn't jump at you and is really repetitive [the chorus], "My Lovin Goes" for the same reason as "Twisted" and "She Don't Know" because the Spanish vibe seems out of place with the rest of the album. It's not a bad song, it's just not one of her best.
So Amazin' was Christina's third album and she brought pure fire with this one. I personally like Christina's urban sound and hopes she keeps this with her new album due out in 2007. If you're not a Christina fan, buy this album and you will be.

Just when you thought the current surplus of pop princesses would cause the leather-miniskirted bottom to drop out, along vamps Christina Milian with a crackling new CD whose 12 songs outshine "AM to PM," her 2001 hit. In the Cuban-American Milian, J-Lo has found her heir apparent (not that she was looking): The songs spotlight a similar sex-i-fied energy, jumbling attitude, vulnerability, and a jigger of jadedness into a heaving, R&B-leaning, red-hot heap. The secret is whip-smart production--credit players who have worked with Alicia Keys, J-Lo, and Mariah Carey--especially on "I Need More," which showcases an array of pings, pulses, and from-the-gut guitar. When we're not singing along to lyrics like "It'll be a cold day in hell before you see your girl shed another tear, boy you better hear me," bottom lip pushed out for emphasis, we're shouting "go, girl" from the sidelines. Or at least wanting to. If the radio hit "Dip It Low" hasn't pushed you to pick up this disc already, it is, in fact, about time. --Tammy La GorceAlbum Description
You know her from the infectious single "AM To PM" which hit the top position on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart in 2001, yet that was just a taste of what this multi-faceted young woman is capable of.Christina Milian is a multi-talented phenomenon whose resume includes film, television, theater and music. With starring roles in feature films and her highly-anticipated debut album "It's About Time" ready for release, Milian is poised to take the entertainment industry by storm. One listen to "It's About Time" and it is clear that Christina is in a decidedly more mature space. "I'm older now. When "AM To PM" came out I was a teenager. Now I'm 22 and so songs on this album have a little more depth to them." The depth is evident by the album's R&B vibe and lyrics that have a bit more edge. You can feel the sexy point of view on cuts like the up-tempo "Love." Produced by Warryn Campbell and featuring label mate Joe Budden, "Love" vibrates with a retro 80's dance club feel.Customer Reviews:

It's About Time - actually 2.5 stars.......2006-05-23
In comparison to Mya & Ashanti's last releases, Ms. Milian just didn't take enough chances with the disc so in a few of the songs her voice sounds almost exactly like Jennifer Lopez but not as strident as J Lo's voice. Christina has a sweet, gentle quality to her voice which lends itself well to the ballads but sometimes gets lost in the more beat oriented dance tracks.
The tracks that I really liked are: DIP IT LOW, SOMEDAY ONE DAY, I NEED MORE (reminds me of old school Janet Jackson), MISS YOU LIKE CRAZY, HIGHWAY, GET LOOSE (very J Lo-esque) & PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY.
I'd recommend it to those who like "hip pop" and have enjoyed discs by any of the females mentioned above. It's a disc that definitely keeps up with others released in this genre of music but is not groundbreaking in any way - her vocals are not distinctive enough to distinguish her disc from the others and truthfully the only two songs that made a real impression on me were DIP LOW AND PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY so if you can download those two that may be your best bet.
Not a Bad Album in the Least.......2006-05-20
Milian's follow-up to IT'S ABOUT TIME (SO AMAZIN') is a much more urban-driven album compared to this. Here, Milian deals with her pop leanings, evidence by "Dip It Low". While "Dip It Low" is the standout from this album, there are other very capable singles including the incredibly fun "I Need More" and "Whatever U Want". Then later on, Milian slows the pace down with the enjoyable mid-tempo ballad "I'm Sorry". However, Milian isn't particularly consistent with hits and filler material as there is extraordinary material next to average material.
A boost for IT'S ABOUT TIME is the production. Like most dance-pop divas, Milian's voice isn't particularly full, but thin. The production highlights her voice to make her sound very credible as vocalist. Also compared to her R&B counterparts (i.e. Ashanti, etc...) she isn't nearly as modest where vocal nuance and melisma are concerned. It is no surprise this album received a Grammy nomination, however it is certainly not extraodinary in anyway. It is a nice dance-pop set, but it isn't truly innovative in any sense. Nobody can deny how great "Dip It Low" is/was though. 3 Stars.

Not a best of at all..but a low point.......2006-12-16
Clearly she's not ready for a "Best Of", especially a CD that does not collect anything other than whats on her records. She's had songs on mixtapes and soundtracks and none are found here. So who'se going to buy this? Clearly no one, as those interested in her one worldwide smash ("Dip It Low") have already bought the single and the fans have nothing here for them to grab.
Hopefully her career will rise from these ashes and this CD will be seen as her lowest point in her career.
Please Tell Me This Is A Joke!.......2006-12-03
As for this album, I'm surprisingly disappointed. Without a doubt, she's one of my favourite female artists and the only female artists who I knowingly and continuously put above her are Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill & Beyonce. However, there's no changing the fact that this compilation album, which comprises of singles and "hand-picked" tracks from Christina Milian's three previous albums (Christina Milian - 2001, It's About Time - 2004, So Amazin' - 2006), was poorly constructed.
For starters, why is there only 1 track (the anthemic, uplifting "Say I", featuring Young Jeezy) from "So Amazin'"? I understand that it was the weakest-selling album of her career, but do you really expect to soar into Gold or Platinum sales in a matter of months when you've got weak promotion and your lead single is one of the album's lesser tracks ("Say I", is good, but there was definitely better)? "Who's Gonna Ride (feat. Three Six Mafia)", "She Don't Know", "Gonna Tell Everybody", her two duets with Dre from Cool & Dre on "So Amazin'" and "Hot Boy"...those kinds of tracks (all from album "So Amazin'") best display Christina at her highest and most honest, combining hot beats with hypnotic vocals and undeniably intense sexuality. Her entire third album was definitely a lot better than the cruddy Pop she supplies from her self-titled debut (excluding the infectious lead single "AM To PM")- "Spending Time" is easily as forgettable as guest artist Charli Baltimore (btw, who the Hell is that?) ; "When You Look At Me", despite decent lyrics, is way too "poppy" and bland for my tastes ; and "Get Away" mainly fails because Ja Rule has no problem reminding us why so many critics thought he sucked when he was still commercially prominent.
Thank God she added some of the better tracks from "It's About Time - the sexy "Dip It Low", the Hip-Hop/Pop of the Milian/Joe Budden duet "Whatever U Want", the sweet ballad "I'm Sorry" and the emotional "Someday One Day", which has grown on me after more focused listens - but adding the second Milian/Budden duet "L.O.V.E.", along with long-forgotten international bonus tracks like "Down For You & "7 Days", only helps to bring this compilation album down.
Altogether, this compilation album really isn't that good. "Best Of Christina Milian"? Pfft, Hell no! Cop "So Amazin'" or check out the lights from "It's About Time" ("Dip It Low, "Whatever U Want", "I Need More", Someday One Day" & "I'm Sorry") if you want to see what this chick can really do! 2 stars!
5 Best Tracks:
"Dip It Low"
"Say I (feat. Young Jeezy)"
"Whatever U Want (feat. Joe Budden)
"Someday One Day"
"I'm Sorry"
P.S. Dear Christina,
I might be wrong for saying this, but I think you missed a good promotional opportunity. You could've easily chucked in the previously mentioned tracks from "So Amazin'" for the sake of quality AND promotion. You could've re-released "Gonna Tell Everybody" or even release a video for any of the other new tracks you made this year. Earlier on this year, you could've released "Who's Gonna Ride" as a single because as explicit as the lyrics occasionally are, the song easily fits into clubs, it's got a much stronger "street" vibe than "Say I", it gained you strong media attention and Three Six Mafia were on the track, meaning you could've fed off their popularit as well because they won a damn Oscar this year! I love you Christina, but what the Hell were you thinking?!

Christina Milian has three albums under her belt so far - Christina Milian (2001), It's About Time (2004) and So Amazin' (2006). These three albums have spawned seven singles - three from the first and two each from the other two - and six of them are on this CD, along with six other songs "hand-picked" by Milian for the album.
If you're a Christina Milian fan you already own all three albums(or at least the first two, as the third one wasn't that good) making this CD somewhat redundant, and really not worth the price tag.

Excellent 5 Star CD Single! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !.......2004-06-16
2.Remix (Featuring Shawna): This isn't a remix. It is the same version, but jsut features Shawna in the beginning and middle. She raps good with this really good Pop/R & B tune! They sound great together! A little Willa Ford with that would even do better!!
3.Full Intention Club: This and track 4 are the longest on the album. This will really get you dancing, but it seems like it goes on forever!!
4.Jj Flores Dub: This is also a long version. The sound goes really well with her voice. Good club track!! Not much to say....
5.Jj Flores Double J Remix: WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! This is definately the best track on the CD single!! You probably heared this version on the radio. It gets into a good club beat and then on the 37th second, they begin saying the names of the 4 people in the sound. Then more seconds of the excellent beat and then the singing. This one features Fabulous. This can be played on the radio, in the club, definately at brothers & cousins parties....THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!! I love this version and her voice prevails through this track!! I SIMPLY LOVE IT & LISTEN TO THIS ONE THE MOST!!!!!!!!!
6.Video: This is the awesome, lovely, cool, fresh, WOW! video! This kicks butt & you just have to watch it for yourself to believe it. It seems like Mandy Moores-"In My Pocket" mixed with something also very original!! This is so great!!!!!
All in all, this is a HUGE worldwide smash just like "AM To PM" and her other smash overseas!!!!! Definately buy this!!!!!! YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
