What's really tricky is following up a debut as innovative and exquisite as 1995's Maxinquaye. Third time out (fourth if you count 1996's perplexing duets project Nearly God) and the artist formerly known as Adrian Thaws is still struggling to find the right balance of ambition and ability on Angels with Dirty Faces. The album has its moments: including a stirring collaboration with Polly Harvey on the bluesy "Broken Homes" and singer Martina Topley-Bird's eerie rendering of Billie Holiday's "God Bless the Child" on "Carriage for Two." If you liked the claustrophobic mire of last year's Pre-Millennium Tension, Angels won't disappoint. Otherwise, you may find it a downer. --Aidin Vaziri

5 out of 5 stars WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST TRICKY ALBUM PERIOD!.......2007-01-07

Let's face it guys, Trip-hop isnt a genre for catchy hooks & chorus'. I know tricky's never written any. I liked pre-millenium tension & maxinquaye b/c they where wierd, spooky & VERY dark. But where maxinquaye was safe & user friendly, AWDF is exactly the opposite. This is the best thing for such a strange character. This album is so odd it's guaranteed to grap your attention (that doesnt mean you'll like it, i didn't say that ;). Experimental but not stupid like 'blowback'. Blowback is the worst album ever made. It's tricky falling off the cliff where AWDF merly shows him tettering on the edge.

5 out of 5 stars Now this is the real TRICKY.......2006-07-07

I have no idea why so many people dislike it for this is no doubt his best. Maxinquaye was great but maybe a bit too eclectic and it actually owed very much to Martina, Pre-millenium tension suffered from over-the-top self-indulgent lyrics and actually didn't come out very well. This is the only Tricky's album i can listen to from the beginning to the end. The sound is outstanding. It features live musicians, awesome funky beats and has a great feel of urban paranoia to it. Don't believe the bad reviews and get this right now!!!

5 out of 5 stars So different,SO unique, So good.......2005-03-19

As a new Tricky fan this cd is the one i received first. I still have more to buy from him right down the list. Next i will get Maxinquaye, then Nearly GOd, and all of them.

4 out of 5 stars Highly underrated, simply misunderstood........2005-01-30

Firstly, most don't realize this is the essence of his message. All the instrumentals match his message that he's trying to convey, and that's why it's so dark, seedy, and full of grime. "Ghetto traps didn't trap me, I got out." from Money Greedy is a crystal clear answer to that times' Hip-Hop community and their "trapped in the ghetto" mentality. With that verse alone, he belittles 2Pac, Master P, and other artists that claim to that the system can't be broken. Despite the money they've made, they're still trapped in the ghetto? Sure, and Tricky got out when he makes a fraction of their record sales.
Everyone goes on about how demented it sounds, and how it pushes you toward the brink of insanity. Well guess what? That's the point. This is the life he's gone through, what he's seen, and it's not pretty. Obviously enough, in contrast to his previous releases, he was waiting until he got someone's attention with more "acceptable" sounds, and naturally his true followers would be able to cut through the yellow tape and realize that there was a deeper message beneath everything. This is the album you should've been waiting for. And it came, went, and got blasted. Figures, but I wouldn't hesitate to pick this up if you want something new, urban, artistic, and a true centerpiece for the trip-hop underground.
This album and it's themes transcend country to country, and speak true of the danger in running the streets, daytime or nighttime, always being a target, where paranoia doesn't exist, it's a way of life, and the cesspool that mixes cops, drugs, women, money and your roots. It's like this where I live, and I know it is in NY, and I wouldn't be surprised if you can feel this anywhere on the globe.

5 out of 5 stars What genre is this anyway?.......2004-12-06

I've often read how disapointed people were with this record and I have never understood why. Most artists can only aspire to re-arrange their influences in a new and sincere way. At best. Most of the time, however, we fail and only manage to produce lesser versions of what someone else has already done much more succesfully. "Angels With Dirty Faces", in my opinion, goes beyond adding a touch of sincerity and originality to other musicians' acomplishments. It is itself a fantastic example of what happens when artists let go of what they have heard or seen and reach into themselves to create something unlike anything before it. Of course nothing is created in a vacuum, and to some extent all artists build upon previous artists' works, but there are a precious few who throughout history manage to suprass their influences. Tricky is one of those aritsts, and this is his masterpiece.

    5 out of 5 stars Refreshing.......2006-02-22

This is the best band I've heard in years. Reminds me of Liz Larin or a grown up version of the Go Go's (if they had ever grown up). Every time a song neared its end, I found myself becoming eager to hear the next selection. I found myself thinking, 'Damn I wish I could sing like that' and then 'Damn I wish I could write like that'. I will be buying everything that comes from Manda.

    5 out of 5 stars Great record --- a true pop gem.......2005-11-22

I love this album, and you probably will too. Thought I'd post some reviews that are out there that may help you decide if you'd be into it:

"The furious threesome, fronted by angelic bassist Manda, charm us with Blondie/Joan Jett vocals and synthesizers galore. Angels With Dirty Faces has an excellent balance of power pop and punk, especially on cuts like "Ode To Rock" and "Boys Will Be Boys", and flows into more mellow tunes like "Seventeen". This album has a wide range of melodies and is well put together, so much so that anyone can find something to like about it." - Sal Swayzo - Tastes Like Chicken

" it's about dancing, not art. Angels is a fabulous party with big bangs, neon socks and cheap beer. The Marbles do offer the quieter, semi-acoustic "Seventeen", a dramatic and delightful summer-y song dedicated to lost youth and puppy love. But they jump back into the fire before leaving their audience with the fist-pumper "Let Them Talk".For a good time, forget that lame dude's 864-5789 number and dial up Manda & The Marbles. They channel the spirit of bands long gone, but with a boundless energy that saves them from being accused of merely rehashing the past." - Anna Giulani - Girlstown Productions

1 out of 5 stars Seen them live, heard the record........2005-11-20

Retarded, in all aspects and meanings. What? Is she trying to rip off Veruca Salt or does she just have no talent. The husband is okay.

    5 out of 5 stars Wow.......2005-03-03

I can't believe how much I like this cd. Something new surprises me every time I give it a spin. At first I was hooked by the super catchy songs, then I realized there was something special under all those addictive rhythms. It seems that every song has a standout line that is super quotable. This band just really knows how to write songs. The lyrics are sometimes clever, sometimes poignant and always worth a closer listen. This band isn't just a delicious candy shell, it has the chocolate filling to match.

If you're looking for music that is fun to listen to, or looking for songs about more than the same old cliches this cd is worth picking up. Its nice to know thst there's someone out there writing music that has style and substance.

    5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Band.......2005-03-02

Angels With Dirty Faces has a slightly softer edge than MATM's spectacular previous release, More Seduction, but the most important aspect of the new album is that it shows the excellent songwriting exhibited on the previous disc was no fluke. One great song after another tumbles out of Angels, with nothing that's less than inspired anywhere in sight. MATM has proven they can do a wonderful job with covers, but Manda's original material is what shines most brightly here. Beyond-catchy songs like Say Anything, Lipstick, Simple Things and Boys Will Be Boys remain in one's head long after the last note has played.

The incredibly fun, catchy songs are what allow this record to be great, but the effect on the listener wouldn't be the same without a strong band to back them up. Manda plays a very capable bass, Joe Damage offers sharp, very well-crafted guitar work, the newly added Elias Dubok plays an important role on keyboards, and powerhouse drummer Mark Slak helps bring everything together and prevents the sound from ever getting TOO soft. There are some obvious 80's influences here, but the sound is not retro - Manda & Co. are definining their own little homeplace in today's musical world.

Manda & The Marbles want to take us all for a sonic joyride. I can't imagine why anyone who enjoys rock & roll would want to resist.

1 out of 5 stars This CD Is Wack To The Ultimate Max!.......2006-06-16

Maaann! How can anybody give this CD more than one star? It actually deserves ZERO stars. The Sugababes cut and paste material from other artists and try to pass it on for their own. Adina Howard came out with "Freak Like Me" in 1995 and the Sugababes' remake of it was atrocious. "Blue" sounds too similiar to Aaliyah's song "What If." C'mon now! Y'all need to stop playing! Heaven forbid these wenches torture the United States with even more terrible music! They're not original and their vocals are generic. If you listen to the Sugababes, be sure that you'll get diabetes. Hooollllaaa!

    4 out of 5 stars Top Pop.......2005-12-03

"Angels with Dirty Faces" is the Sugababes' second album and was released in 2002. Their first album, "One Touch", had been released two years previously - it featured some excellent songs and showed a great deal of promise. However, things didn't go entirely to plan - having bizarrely lost their record deal with London Records, they also lost a member wjen Siobhan Donaghy quit the band during a tour of the Far East. (Siobhan has since released a solo album called "Revolution In Me" - like "One Touch", on London. There are rumours of a second one on a different label).

The album opens with its lead single, "Freak Like Me" - featuring a sample of Gary Numan's "Are Friends Electric ?", the song gave the group its first UK number one. Not only is it just about the best song on the album, it's easily one of the best pop songs of recent years. "Shape" , one of the other singles, is also an outstanding song and would be the highlight of many other albums. It also is built around a sample - in this case, Sting's "Shape of my Heart". The moods of the two songs are very different however - "Shape" is a much gentler affair then "Freak Like Me". (This wouldn't be too much of a surprise to anyone who's old enough to remember the two songs that were sampled).

A couple of the album's tracks also turned up on some film soundtracks. "Round Round", which gave the girls their second UK chart topper, was included on the soundtrack to "The Guru". The album's title track, used on the soundtrack to the Powderpuff Girls movie, was released as a double-A side with "Stronger". For me, "Angels with Dirty Faces" was stronger than "Stronger". Its totally animated video was also much better, featuring Powderpuff Sugababes singing, dancing and generally saving the world.

Overall, the album's got a slight urban feel to it, rather than an out-and-out pop album. "Breathe Easy" is noticable because it's so different to the rest of the album - for many, it would've been the obvious ballad-type single. ("No Man No Cry", however, is not a reggae song). "Virgin Sexy" and "Supernatural" and two other very good tracks. Unusually, it would seem, for an all-girl singing trio each Sugababe can actually sing - it's not one lead singer and two backing singers. On each track, each member takes a stint on lead vocals. This is an excellent album and, if their subsequent singles are anything to go by, better than anything they've released since.

4 out of 5 stars An Awesome Record.......2005-05-02

    My Song-by-Song Review:

    1. Freak Like Me (8/10) The first single from AWDF, and it's got an awesome vibe to it. The only problem was, it was very overplayed and by the time I got the record I wanted to hear the new stuff.

    2. Blue (8/10) This song has catchy vocals but the droning background music kindof puts me off.

    3. Round Round (9/10) The second single from AWDF. This song is fantastic for dancing and the vocals are mesmerizing! After you give it a few listens you'll be playing it non stop.

    4. Stronger (9/10) The standout ballad of the record. This song deserves to be number one. The girls show off their talents and put them into a wonderful piece. Oh, it's also the third single from this album.

    5. Supernatural (6/10) My least favorite from the album. It reminded me of Britney Spears and I thought that this was supposed to be the opposite.

    6. Angels With Dirty Faces (7/10) This song was released with Stronger as the third single, and the video featured the Powerpuff Girls. I think the video ruined it for me. If you listen to it, not with the video, this song isn't half bad, but it isn't one of my favorites.

    7. Virgin Sexy (6/10) HM... this ones a split decision. Heidi's verses and the chorus are awful, but Mutya's bridge makes up for it.

    8. Shape (9/10) The fourth single from AWDF features Sting, and it couldn't be better. It's a simplistic midtempo song with great beats and great vocals.

    9. Switch (7/10) See "Supernatural".

    10. More Than A Million Miles (9/10) Another power ballad. It mixes slow vocals with an uptempo background and it creates a beautiful song.

    11. Breathe Easy (Acoustic) (10/10) The highlight of the album. This song is so beautiful. Mutya's voice is so lush and this song showcases it. I would buy the album just for this song, Stronger and Shape.

Hope this helps you decide to buy this album.

    3 out of 5 stars Suga Spice.......2004-06-07

The Spice Girls were the BEST pop group of the 90s. Anyone who tried to compete quickly faded or never matched the phenom success that came off the Spice rack.

Sugababes were smart in that they stayed away from the pure magic pop of the Spice Girls and went for a more sexier, urban sound.

Their first CD contained the awesome lead single "Overload" that quickly separated the girls from the rest of the pop scene with it's cool groove.

The follow up finds a new band member and a great lead single "Freak Like Me" and follow up single "Round Round". Both have a great sound with killer choruses. The rest of the album is alright. Quite often the girls try too hard to prove they aren't "bubblegum" and come across as silly teenage girls who wear too much make up to make themselves look older. But the tunes are okay. Why these girls haven't hit in Canada I don't know. The US will require some much promotion as the market is bigger. But they can totally hit Canada and be the next UK pop sensation.

Hopefully they won't go the route of SCLUB and do their own TV show! Highly doubt that though.

5 out of 5 stars Don't let these BABES pass you by, America!.......2003-04-07

The UK's finest! These days, girl groups (both British & American) seem to be a dime a dozen. The Sugababes, however, are miles ahead of the competition. Their music is highly sophisticated pop with a healthy dose of r&b. It's absolutely awesome to say the least. If you liked All Saints, you'll love Sugababes. These girls, like Atomic Kitten & Mis-Teeq, deserve to have success in North America. The States, however, is so massive that many overseas music acts are afraid to even attempt to crack the American market. Will Sugababes ever truly attempt to break America? Hard to tell. Personally, I think their music is universal. 'Round Round' 'Freak Like Me' and 'Shape' are all radio friendly to say the least. 'Stronger' is a beautiful ballad that is simply heaven to listen to. With the right amount of promotion, I think Americans would fall in love with Sugababes! With music this infectious, it's difficult not to. Good job girls!

1 out of 5 stars Skip this CD.......2007-02-13

This CD seems to have gone out of its way to trnsfer the worst VHS tapes to CD Audio and package it as classic film scores. The short excerpts are very bad and fade out just as the tempo begins to build. If you love film noir, skip this CD. If you are interested in film noir, skip this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Great soundtracks "from the original films!".......2006-08-06

I feel compelled to respond to some of the negative criticism below. This is not a collection of restored and re-recorded scores by a modern orchestra. These are the original soundtracks from the films themselves. Given that they are in mono and suffer from age, they cannot possibly be judged by the same criteria as a modern recording. BUT, as a collection of noir soundtracks, they are superb. It's a huge list of title tracks from great films noir. And, as many of these are unavailable as restored and re-recorded scores, it is a wonderful disc to have in your collection. If the only scores you like are high-fidelity, however, then this is definitely not for you. But this disc also can't be judged by those sonic standards. For those of you who desire to listen to some of this more obscure film music--just as it would sound playing the video on your TV--then this is a great disc to have.

4 out of 5 stars Good for fans.......2006-01-18

Given that there are very few Film Noir compilation soundtrack cd's available, I'd say this one works just fine for what it is. It's certainly not the most polished work, but it does have a lot of film scores and no fan should be without it. I'm glad I bought it.

2 out of 5 stars It's at today missing for me........2006-01-15

I am waiting this CD in my home. At today it's missing. Take note of this, please.

5 out of 5 stars Not For Audiophiles, But Wonderful for the Rest of Us!.......2006-01-13

I thought that this disc was quite possibly the best attempt so far at cataloging some of the best themes of the film-noir genre. It leaves out the dialogue snippets that break up the feel and mood of the music, and some of the selections are, quite simply, marvelous. Also, the compilers here were brave enough to include some of the rarer and seldom-mentioned noirs for inclusion here. If you're an audiophile, you must realize that these recordings are SIXTY YEARS OLD, for goodness sakes. I'll never understand why some people put so much stake in stereo sound and crystal clear remastering. I happen to feel that the gritty mono (which really isn't nearly as bad as has been suggested) heightens the hardbitten feel of these works. So, if you're someone who enjoys authentic film music, give this a shot! If you're expecting something butchered, repackaged, and changed around for modern tastes, don't bother with this collection!

    5 out of 5 stars Growth.......2006-08-29

A solid album from a uk female trio that one day may actually make it in the US. This album shows growth as well as featuring a new member. All the tracks are good but round and round I think represents the sound that best represents what Sugababes are all about. If it wasn't for top of the pops I never would have known anything about this group. Great follow up album.

5 out of 5 stars Different from the original version!.......2003-08-15

But just as good, if not better. This has 3 bonus tracks, that make this already fantastic album even better. The Sugababes are a British all girl group, with a member change (Soibhan Donaghy quit the band in 2002, replaced with Heidi Range formerly of Atomic Kitten, another British girl group), one album "One Touch" already under their belts, two UK No.1s (Freak Like Me and Round Round) and 5 Top 10 hits. This is a fantastic album, you need it if you like British pop, garage or RnB. Track rundown:

    1. Freak Like Me
Gotta love this song. It's the 'Babes first single with Heidi, and she gets a massive part in this song. It has peculiar lyrics and great rocky music. 5/5
    2. Blue
Not about the well known British boyband. This is a funky little number, with a catchy chorus and a nasty rap with a few swear words included in it. 5/5
    3. Round Round
Very exhausted on radio here in New Zealand, but still catchy. I can still sing along to this without it getting boring. I love Heidi's slow part near the end, it just changes the mood of the song completely. 4.5/5
    4. Stronger
The third single from the girls - this is slower but still full of power. The vocals on this song are amazing. 4/5
    5. Supernatural
Cute song - this has funny lyrics and a catchy chorus. I love the verses they have such cool lyrics! 5/5
    6. Angels With Dirty Faces
The title track. This has a cool rap in the middle shared by all three girls, and a catchy chorus. One to listen to. 5/5
    7. Virgin Sexy
This is my favourite song on the album now (in my other review it's a different song). I love this, it's such a anthem for teenagers. I'm 16 and can totally relate to this song! It has teenager friendly lyrics ("If you want me, just text me") and a catchier then anything chorus. 5/5
    8. Shape
This is kind of depressing, but still good. This is a ballad, with Sting on vocals in the chorus. I can't help singing along to the chorus, and the verses are cool too. 4.5/5
    9. Just Don't Like This
This didn't really catch me, but it does have a powerful chorus. 3/5
    10. No Man No Cry
This is catchy, and I love the "No Man, No Cry" line uttered by Keisha at the very beginning. Better then the last track. 3.5/5
    11. Switch
Love this song! It has the catchiest chorus of any song on the entire album, you'll be singing along in seconds. The lyrics are kind of weird, but that's ok. My second favourite song on the album. 5/5
    12. More Than A Million Miles
This was my favourite song when I first got the CD, but now I like "Virgin Sexy" and "Switch" more. But this is my third favourite. I LOVE the rap! It makes the song! The song would be totally boring without the rap. The rest of the song is boring. This gets 5 stars because of the FANTASTIC rap! 5/5
    13. Breathe Easy
I don't like this - it's really bland. The worst song on the album. 2/5
    14. Round Round (Alternative Mix)
A remix. I don't really like remixes at all (the only remixes I can tolerate are remixes from Blue and Atomic Kitten), so I'm not gonna rate this, cuz I didn't listen to it. NOT RATED

This is better value then the original version of it, because it has 3 bonus songs. The Sugababes rock!!!

5 out of 5 stars The Best British CD You Can Buy!!!.......2003-05-25

This is such an amazing CD! I bought in when I was on vacation in London and am SO glad I did. This is one of my all time favorite CDs. The songs are great and so are the voices.

    1. FREAK LIKE ME - (5/5) My favourite song on the album. It has such a good beat and I love the lyrics. It is so off the hook.

    2. BLUE - (5/5) Another great song with a good message.

    3. ROUND ROUND - (5/5) This one took a few listenings to get into, but once I did, I loved it.

    4. STRONGER - (5/5) Another awesome pick-me-up song.

    5. SUPERNATURAL- (5/5) This has a similar beat the Brandy's "What About Us?" and is on the best dance songs out there.

    6. ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES - (4/5) A good song, but not as catchy as the others.

    7. VIRGIN SEXY - (4/5) A bit childish, but nevertheless, a good song.

    8. SHAPE - (5/5) A super good ballad featuring Sting on it.

    9. JUST DONT NEED THIS - (5/5) Another favorite. It has uch a powerful chorus.

    10. NO MAN NO CRY - (5/5) Another fabulous R&B jam.

    11. SWITCH - (5/5) A great dance song.

    12. MORE THAN A MILLION MILES - (3/5) While the melody is nice, the chorus doesn't click. Not my faveorite track.

    13. BREATHE EASY [ACOUSTIC JAM] - (3/5) Nothing specialabout this track either.

    14. ROUND ROUND [ALTERNATIVE MIX] - (4/5) Just like the regulr version, but extended a lot.

So, as you can see, this CD kicks ass. I absoulutely love it, and so will you!

    2 out of 5 stars Its a shame, really........2003-03-27

I really do like the sound of the Sugababes, but I feel the album is spoiled by the fact that nearly every track has disjointed, ambiguous lyrics, which at times do not make sense. I guess its hard to expect miracles, but take this for example:

"When you stare in my face
    You're messin with my brain
If you try to convince me
    Then you better think again
If you move to my music
    The music's got to give
    If It's too complicated
That's the way I want to live"

Tell me one thing that verse actually says? Its just a collection of statements.

5 out of 5 stars The Babes are Back and Better Than Ever...!.......2002-11-26

I first listened to Sugababes while browsing the TOTP website and enjoyed a few songs of their first album, then bought teh whole thing and loved it. Afterwards they lost a member, got dropped from their label, then luckily picked up an ex-Atomic Kitten (sorta) and a new record deal, and thank god as these girls have come out with a fantastic album! Keisha, Mutya, and Heidi are 3 chicks that if they had a motto, should be "Chicks Before Dicks" as many of their songs reflect their youth, love for friends, and the typical heartbreak experienced as teens.

The album starts with 3 upbeat partyish tracks, the first single (which went to #1) "Freak Like Me" that samples Gary Numan and screams sexual independance, but teasingly. "Blue" is a slam to well...anyone you dislike, ex-bf's or gf's, enemies, friends who turned on you, whatever. Its a catchy track that disguises the hidden message of "I really hate you...". Next is "Round Round" the 2nd single (another #1) and just makes you want to get up and dance with your best friends.

The next track is part of the third single, a Double A-Side that went to #8, entitled "Stronger". Its a powerful ballad taht encourages people to make it through their hardships, that could include a message to September 11th victims. After that the album picks up with a rousing dance number, "Supernatural", reminiscent of Brandy's "What About Us?" regarding how great love is...if you can find it. After this comes the 2nd part of the "Stronger" single...the title track of the album "Angels With Dirty Faces" taht sends a message to parents that they may look at their children as angels but htey don't know what they're really up to. Another dancey track sorta, with a good chorus. After this comes the suggestive song "Virgin Sexy" taht continues with the theme of the last track. It talks about how girls want to be percieved as older and want experience.

After this we get into the home run stretch of the album starting with the amazing ballad "Shape" that samples the song of the same name by Sting, and he actually sings the chorus with them. A very different track filled with spanish-inspired guitars and deep lyrics about risks in life and love. After this is probably the weakest track on the album, "Just Don't Need This" which is probably why its a bonus track. A fairly steady track it just beats on about how the girls feel violated by older men, or just men in general. However the album boosts itself in the next two tracks, first with "No Man, No Cry" a reggae inspired song that sorta reminds me of the girl group Dream. The title of the track once again implies stickin' with your friends over your fellas is probably better. "Switch" is an amazing upbeat song that uses a unique beat and style, similar to All Saints "Ha Ha". The lyrics are great as they give girls the idea that they can take the guys role of being players and "Switching" from guy to guy.

Finally what I like to call the encore of the album comes. Starting with one of the greatest gems on the album, "More Than A Million Miles", an amazingly composed track with a bit of nu-Madonna influence that mixes western guitar and two-step beats. The lyrics are great about a girl trying to make it through the problems with her boyfriend as he becomes obssessed with something else. Then comes the stunning vocal jam "Breathe Easy" where you hear the true talent in the girls voices, matched with nothing more than a simple guitar. After all the heartbreak and tears, the girls let ya know you can Breathe Easy. Then comes the remix of "Round Round" which isn't that fab. and in my opinion...isn't necessary.

      5 out of 5 stars Highly Creative.......2002-08-23

Tricky is a genius. This is his best album ever, and the bonus tracks are an added plus. He creates moods and soundscapes -- you see and feel things when you listen to this record. His creativity has no bounds. His experimentation in sound, turns into meditation and song. When I listen to this music, I leave all stresses and worries behind. I imagine listening to this album on my deathbed and feeling contempt w/ my life. Not sure if that's sad or not. Tricky and Solex need to work together.

5 out of 5 stars Extra Tracks Make a Difference.......1999-12-03

"I can't remember,I can't remember" are the mumbled lyrics Tricky introduces his incredible bonus track "Time Slippin'" on this Japanese import. The song features Prince's protege's Wendy and Lisa on keyboards and guitar. The other bonus track is "Peyote Sings" a song with a rush-drag-rush-drag feel. It's a fun song with beautiful poetry. The remainder of the album is built around a strong base of darkness."Angels With Dirty Faces" puts a curse on any listener.Tricky proves to be a truly unique artist on this album.

      4 out of 5 stars Tricky is a God.......1998-08-06

I have to say it's not like Maxinquaye or Nearly God, It's simply execllent, if you're interested in the genre, get this one.

      Won't regret it.
