The latest version of the naughty-but-nice vocal acts that nimbly straddle pop, R&B, and hip-hop, 3LW (Three Little Women) are part 'round the way girls and part li'l sisters. Along with hot beats, this trio has sass and attitude, which often count more than actual vocal ability. But these gals can sing, even if it's often in that somewhat whiny, plaintive tone so beloved in contemporary R&B. As might be expected from their finger-waggin' smash, "No More," much of 3LW's thematic fixation is on boys and their shortcomings. In fact, a good subtitle for this engaging and strong debut might be "more songs about boys and pagers," since it seems that the little women spend most of the CD tracking down loser men with various electronic devices. As is the case with most of these contemporary girl groups, though, 3LW are no victims. On the remix of "No More," which features Nas, the girls display a gritty, mature determination that might be worth exploring on their next effort. Amy Linden

5 out of 5 stars 3LW step into the spotlight then step out.......2007-05-20

They did an awesome job on this Cd and many others but now that Kiely and Adrienne have gone with The Cheetah Girls (which are good two) they have sort of ditched 3LW. Now I think this CD is awesome but now it's like 3LW does not exsist. My fave song on this Album is No More (baby Ima Do it Right)

I highly recomend this CD to anyone who likes Pop and R&B music

4 out of 5 stars Strong debut shows promise.......2007-01-25

There's no denying that these girls can sing, especially lead singer Adrianna who can really blow for her tender young age (she was quite young when she recorded this album, in fact they all were). Complete with strong beats and smooth vocals, 3LW delivers just what the doctor ordered.

Starting things off with their smash it 'No More (Baby Ima Do Right)' these girls cement themselves as the next Destinys Child, complete with the strong lead vocals (and like Beyonce, Adrianna is somewhat of a mic hog...but she can sing so why not). The song may be your generic 'Bug-A-Boo' type riff but it's catchy and enjoyable.

Personally their second track, 'Is You Feelin Me?', is my favorite track here. The beat is tight and the lyrics are sung with confidence and perfect pitch. This is one that was made for the clubs.

'Playas Gon Play' has more of a happy vibe to it, very bouncy. This was their second single and it works. The girls here sing about the strength of their relationships with their men and all the trust they have in him. See, not every song here will be about how much men suck!

The girls next break out the first ballad of the album with 'Gettin too Heavy'. Here the girls plead with their man to take things slow and not push them into...you know, that thing us guys can't help but want so badly. The song is effective, the vocals once again are smooth, especially throughout the verses...the chorus gets a bit whiney but it's not too bad.

There next track is even smoother...an uptempo ballad called 'I'm Gonna Make You Miss Me' which is about just that, making her ex miss her. The beat is nice and simple but it does the trick. Great vibe.

Okay, heres the deal with 'Not This Time'...I love the spanish type guitar opening...love the infusing of techno type influence...Absolutly LOVE the verses...sung great and sound awesome...it's just that uppity chorus that drives me crazy...It's too, whats the word, little girlish...lame...annoying. The bridge, the rap, Adrianna's vocals, everything else but that freaking chorus...

Now everything that I hate about 'Not This Time', that uppity girliness, is what I LOVE about 'More Than Friends (That's Right)'. This song just grows and grows on me, in a good way, and makes me smile. The whole song is so upbeat and happy even though she's singing about loving a boy who loves someone else. It's just a really good song.

'Curious' is a real shell-shock for me. Here these girls channel great R&B groups like En Vogue with their smooth vocals, their classic beats and their maturity in tone, in lyrical content and delivery. I really like this song, and while it may not fit with the flow or even vibe of the rest of the album it's truly a great ballad. This song alone shows the promise these girls had. It's a real shame they went the way of Disney.

'Til I Say So' is another great club type song with lyrical content along the same lines as the ballad 'Gettin Too Heavy'. It's got fun lyrics, good vocals and a fun beat. If you like 'No More' then you'll like this one too.

'Crush on You' starts off a little annoying with those 'ya ya ya' stuff, but once that's over the song is catchy and fun. Singing about going behind their parents back to 'crush' on some guy, these girls sound strong here. Their harmonies and vocals in general mesh well together. The whole song is good, besides that intro. I really like the bridge...you'll see what I mean about harmony.

'Ocean' is probably their slowest softest track here. It's sweet and, after a few listens, I assume this is about love for God. At first I thought it was about yet another boy and then maybe a parent but I'm pretty sure it's another 'I love you God' type ordeal. It's a sweet track, but not one I listen to all that often.

The remix for their hit single featuring Nas closes out the album brilliantly. Nas is a great addition and the beat is fantastic. It's nice to see a real remix, not just the same song with rap at the end...lyrics, beat everything is different and even better than the original. Great addition and awesome way to close out the album.

So in closing, this is a great debut album despite the 'girliness'...these girls are great singers and very talented. It's sad they've moved on to smaller things, leaving the world of R&B and Hip-Hop for Disney, which may have given them a larger fan base and more money but wastes their talent. Oh well, we always have this to look back on and see what could have been. At least they put out an impressive sophomore album.

3 out of 5 stars Disbanded Classics.......2006-07-28

I consider myself to have a very picky and mature taste in music. Here I am, a lowly college student listening to Celtic Tunes and those good old classics like Billy Joel and Def Leopard (Let's Get Rocked will never get old). However, I can remember all those many years ago back in Elementary School and Middle School when I was introduced to artists like TLC, Salt-N-Pepa, Blaque, SWV, Mariah Carry, Brandy, Aaliyah and many other disbanded or tragically lost r&b and hip hop classics. (Oh, sorry... Mariah's still with us and recording, isn't she?) 3LW belongs in that list.

The music is upbeat and catchy, but not overly cheesy. And with songs like No More and Not This Time, this album will certainly never lose its sassy, "stronger than thou" appeal. I can still listen to this CD today and feel the same affection for the group as I did when I first heard them.

Besides, who can resist girls with voices as cute as these three?

And I can't forget to mention one of this albums most beautiful numbers: Ocean. If you buy the album for this song alone, you wouldn't be let down. It's simply gorgeous and inspirational.

This is most defiantly one of the best debut r&b albums out there. There isn't a track that isn't worth listening to. And so what if 3LW is now affiliated with The Cheetah Girls from the similarly named Disney movie? If that's how they have to make it, then leave them to it. It doesn't make this album any less brilliant or worthy of adding to a collection.

3 out of 5 stars workout.......2006-04-30

i really cant comment on the music or lyrics because in this case i really dont care what they have to say. I dont care about how they look because i dont know WTF they look like....... All i know is who ever mastered the album did a really good job, when i first got my copy with no case i noticed that the type of gear i was using at the time really got a chance to shine since i have soo much invested in music reproduction and all i usually play are mixed dancehall cds and underground hiphop. None of which at the time was being recorded really well. I was really pleased to pop the breaker in my house as i ran a mixture of high end gear and pa gear. the bass was PA all the way from the largest amp peavey made in 1999 and the old school blackwidows for woofers as well as 4 more 18's. and the high end was a mixture of vintage gear and amps along with a set of studio monitors . I will say it once more. The album is recorded really well and the tracks that did it for me was CRAZY and THIS GOES OUT. i give the group one star and who ever mixed down the tracks 5 stars. rating = 3stars

4 out of 5 stars A step up.......2006-03-29

I for one liked 3LW when they came out...but then again I was about 14 and so everyone my age was into them. Then, as I got older and said "this is not my scene" I heard them singing hook on the new Naughty by Nature song (new at the time) and said "damn, these girls grew up...and got even hotter" and so when they dropped this album I picked it up, expecting the same ol same ol, but some inpressive pictures inside of the new slut look these diva's were going for. Yes, I bought the CD for the pictures...but what I got were so average pictures and some above average tracks. Starting things off on the right foot with 'I Do' the girls show you the mold they want to fit...they want that r&b/pop market...you know...the Beyonce market. The album sports killer dance tracks like 'Put Em Up' featuring Naughty by Nature and my personal favorite 'Leave Wit You' which single handedly takes the girls from Disney to Playboy, as well as slower tracks like 'Ghetto Love and Heartbreak' and 'Ain't No Maybe' as well as killer guest apperances by Lil Wayne (the man of the moment) on 'Neva Get Enuf' and Lil' Kim (obviously an idol of the girls) on 'I Need That' which is an ode to the materialistic mentality. Anyways, the album is actually tight, with great beats, and no matter what you say Adrienne can sing...I mean, she has a beautiful voice. Keily (the annoying 'I wish I were Left Eye' of the group) raps a few times, but few is good and when she's not rapping you can't tell she's on the CD. Natura, who has an amazing soulful voice as well, is hard to hear as well beings that shortly before the release of the CD she left the group and so her vocals were cut back drastically. Adrienne might as well have dropped Keily too and just put out a solo CD...which brings me to the complaint of 'what the hell were you thinking starting the Cheetah Girls!'...I mean, Adrienne could have had a good thing had she went solo and continued the sluttified look that she had so mastered (although I saw in interview that she's getting a bit chunky now) Anyways, this is a hot CD...and should be owned by any fan of the Beyonce nation. Forget that these girls weren't yet legal and relish in that such hot chicks are singing about giving it to you...ha

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2006-03-23

Awesome CD if you are into a bit of upbeat dance/R&B style music. Check out 3LW's first CD too - it is another awesome CD for the collection.

3lw was never a very popular group. i think thw only time they ever made heads turn was when their single "i do" blow up and when the group actually broke up. i dont see any point in them trying to get back together. it isnt like they're going to be the next destiny's child. omg, they could even make a dent compared to destiny's child. this album is dull, real dull. who the hell gave them a deal?

3LW went from some sweet but tough girls with something to say to mature women with something to say to THIS....Christmas elves frum da hood. What they were trying to accomplish with this I have no clue. Not to say this album is bad-they can both still rap and sing, and nothing on here gets too nasty, but....what were they smoking when they wrote tracks like "Christmas In Tha Hood," "Naughty On Christmas," and "Shady Holiday?" This does not promote the jolly Christmas spirit we all know and love. This album comes close to being reminiscent of the movie 'Bad Santa,' a bastardization of the holidays that seems to like the theme of 'nasty sleazy sexy dirty ghetto Christmas.' Not to say they overdo it with that kind of stuff, but even hinting at stuff like that on a Christmas album seems foolish and ultimately offensive. I have never really liked it when famous singers/bands did Christmas albums. It makes you feel like they're running out of ideas-either that or they're vanity projects. Not a recommended buy unless you're a hardcore 3LW fan-hey, by the way, anyone else see the irony in them still being called '3LW' when there's only 2 little women left...?

5 out of 5 stars Naughty Or Nice? These Girls Are Both!.......2004-02-23

Once again, my ladies have brought the hotness, even when it was cold out! The first track, Naughty On Christmas, the beat was interesting at first, but I began to like it. Number two, Christmas Party, wasn't your average Christmas song. This was a real tight song that you could dance to, which made my family's Christmas so much more fun. Song three, This Year (It's All About You) was a very sweet song. Kiely has come a long way from their debut album, meaning her voice has matured. MY FAVORITE TRACK ON THE ALBUM: AHH HELL NAH!! Even though I'm 11, I LOVE this song! If you listen to the lyrics, it's funny as... I don't know but I LOVE it! Shady Holiday had a nice feel to it, and it was a very very nice song. The only other track I'm gonna speak on is number ten, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. The song was good, but Kiely took breaths where they weren't needed, which made the song a little too airy. But other than that song, I give this album five stars because my girls truly have talent and I love them! They're very nice, but they sometimes look a little naughty! ;) (Look at the album cover!)

4 out of 5 stars Slightly Naughty, Very Nice!.......2004-01-15

I absolutely love this album. Out of all 3LW's albums, this is the one I'm always bumpin'. This album is great to listen to year round. Naturi's voice is really missed on this album though. Even though I like this album, there are still some not-so-good parts. The songs that I'm really feeling are: Xmas In The Hood. This song has a nice groove to it. I love the song from start to finish(it's about time Kiely raps in a whole song). "Christmas Party". This song is the best. I love the beat and the verses. Maybe, just maybe they should have left Treach's rap out. "This Year(It's All About You)". This is yet another great song. "Ahh Hell Nah". I like this song it's kinda funny. "Shady Holiday". This is the typical way a guy does a girl around Christmas. Even though I don't think somebody's own momma would say they ain't no good. "Take You Home For Christmas". This song is off the dang chains. OMG! I absolutely love this song. This is the type of song you put in your CD player and hit the repeat button. This song is all around good. It has a very nice beat. The producers did a great job. Also on this song Kiely produced the vocals. "Christmas Love". Isn't it the honest truth. People really only show their love and affection for one another around Christmas. We should do it year round. On the bad note, "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" should've stayed where it was at.This is the reason I gave the album 4 stars. I love 3LW and everything but this was definitely a mistake. But overall this album is the bomb!!!! Go cop it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This song instanly caught my ears. Even though Naughty By Nature has been out for a while I am new to them, (I missed the whole "Hip-Hop Hooray" scene) But they bring it together with 3LW to create a perfectly blended hip-hop and R&B song.

Naughty by Nature serve up the verses which are done great

3LW bring the chourus home with great vocals that match well with Naughty By Nature

This song won't lose ground quickly like others so you'll be listening to it for a long time.

      5 out of 5 stars High Energy.......2002-03-19

I thought this is a great song to jam to...I think the chorus was more creative, though, than the verses...but 3Lw and Naughty By Nature did a good job at making a new sound that blends well.

      4 out of 5 stars Pretty good....still naughty, with a lil twist.......2002-03-15

This is a pretty decent song actually. I wasn't too sure at first because I couldn't picture 3LW with Naughty By Nature. It turns out that 3LW's hook saves the song, just because the verses aren't as good as they used to be. It's kinda like a party type of song, and its pretty good. Make sure you check it out.
