I believe this song is the starting point of a new direction for hip-hop music (read title).

Song structure breakdown:
1) Rap by Kanye West.
2) Singing (in blues style) by Jamie Foxx.
3) A very heavy but simple beat.

The lyrics of the rap segment describes/speaks of the problem in the relationship. The singing expresses the woes/disappointment. Jamie Foxx his singing is inspired by Ray Charles. The beats increases the intensity of the music.

This "fusion" is a very daring attempt from Kanye West that needs to be praised. The song is produced minimalist in nature. However, it is able to deliver a strong emotional message about a man's woes of a woman of the namesake.

Looking forward to more of such music from him. A master of hip-hop at his creative best.

I'm not a big fan of rap/hip-hop/whatever you want to call it, but I really like this song.

what do you expose? They're the best out there. They're like to be describe as Geniuses, but people with alot of hard work and credit. Happy 'Ye (which I call him for short) and Jamie Foxx are going home with the Grammy in they hand at the Grammys Wednesday Night (Feb 8). Looks like it's gonna be better, postive and very strong since last year and the year before 2005.

This is my favorite song to date of 2005 alongside "Ordinary People" by John Legend, "Candy Shop" by 50 Cent, "Go" by Common, "Touch" by Omarion, need I say more?

This shows Jamie Foxx and Kanye were they heading thru they careers. I got mad love for 'em. This song features a sample from the Ray Soundtrack (the movie was fantastic), "I Got a Woman" (that's a bad song!!!) and it incls. well hip hop beats produced by Kanye. Wish I coulda co-produce the track with him, that would've been more exciting. What if I add horns to the top for this track. That is me playing, me arranging, me doing most the other stuff? MisterMaxxx, nice try. Try to stay cool. Your review was real ok. Try to dig deeper.

He ain't that good Musically. a few alright cuts,but not worth no 8 grammy Nominations. this song is alright. true story about Gold Diggers which means it will never end sad to say,but this song is just alright. Jamie Foxx on the Hook still eating off Ray charles's plate.time for Jamie Foxx to get some new Dishes or get some Dixie paper Cups&Plates.Brother Man is wearing out Ray Charles's Plates,Knives,Forks,Spoons&paper towels with still mimicking him. I dug the Movie "Ray" but this is getting Old.He does it again for Luda for "Georgia". but anyway this song is just aight at best.

1.Album Version of Gold Digger, Jamie Foxx does a great job with the chorus, adds a bluesy feeling to it

Kanye seems to have a big ego but he can live up to the hype, he seems to be one of the most talented rappers out there now

Gold Digger.......2005-11-24

To me, Gold Digger is a pretty, well, unexpected type of song. Like, you would never expect anyone to come out and write a song about this. Kind of like the "My Humps" song. You start to wonder how artists even came up with these types of song, but it doesn't matter, because the background music is enough to make you want to hear it over and over again and you find yourself humming it while shopping or buying it as a ringtone.

This song is a great dance song. For those nights where you're just hanging out with friends and not really listening to the lyrics of the song, then this is your perfect jam-out tune. But if you actually sit down and listen to the words, you will like the song even more. From Jamie Foxx's crazy back-up voice singing something along the lines of, "She take my money, when I'm in need!" to Kanye West's perfect example of a high maintenance "Gold Digger," this song will definitely make you laugh, and kind of end with a "Huh?"

When you listen to it, you will definitely see why it is such a hit and still being played over and over again on the radio today.

Now for all of you saying that it's not a smart move for Jamie Foxx to sing like Ray Charles on this single maybe it is, maybe it isn't but you should know that the reason that he did it is because Kanye West said that when he originally wrote the song he wanted to ask the ORIGINAL Ray Charles to sing the part that Jamie Foxx sang, but you all know what happened next. Ray died.
I think it was a good idea for Kanye to ask Jamie Foxx to sing the song and in light of all his recent success in the movie Ray to sing it like him. The song is fun and somewhat true.

Someone Please Do Me A Favor. . ........2005-11-11

. . . and tell Jamie Foxx that he is NOT Ray Charles. Maybe if "Gold Digger" was on the "Ray" soundtrack that came out in 2004, then it would be acceptable. But it's 2005 and if it's gotten to the point that you think you're Ray Charles, then that's a problem. 'Ray' was a good movie and Jamie Foxx won an Oscar for it, but it's time to keep it real and move on. Anyway, "Gold Digger" is the only decent track on "Late Registration." Let this song be a warning to all of you guys out there.

Gold Digger just got a whole lot BIGGER!.......2005-11-09

I thought I would be offended by this song but I actually really liked it! I loved the cheeky off the wall video with the magazine backgrounds and the pretty girls strutting their stuff along with two good looking dudes who want to show the world that they know what they are talking about.

I loved the lyrics as well, totally tongue in cheek and Kanye West sure knows how to belt out a rap come song and Jaime FOXX gave it his all along with the many pretty dancers who sure knew how to flaunt their stuff!

This is a naughty and sometimes rude song but you can't say it is not fun, because it is, and it gets a solid four out of five from me based on this alone.

Kanyeezy's latest chart-topping single, Gold Digger, is a nice jam, and a nice change from the overly-dramatic material he's been putting out lately (just listen to his new album, and you'll see what I mean.) Nor is it utterly brainless like The New Workout Plan; it's a very happy medium. The beat is surprisingly simplistic, especially compared to some of his newest productions where there's simply too much going on. His choice of a stripped-down beat is VERY refreshing, and Kanye kicks a nice, if not completely original concept (EPMD did something similar back in '90.) Definitely a nice jam to finish off the summer with.

True story about gold diggers........2006-02-12

I like this song, clear message about gold digger girls, made in 1990, and the sample from Funkadelic's Not Just Knee Deep was an awesome choise. I don't know if Kanye West recycled the idea 15 years after and got good money of all that mtv and radio play, then stole a heart from those so called "gold diggers" like Pamela Andersson, but you know, original one is always better. Like it is in this case.

THIS CD IS A MUST BUY FOR THE LIME JUNKIES, EVEN THOUGH THIS CD HAS 5 VERSIONS "UNEXPECTED LOVERS". MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE CD IS "DO YOUR TIME ON THE PLANET". THIS SONG GOT CRAZY RADIO PLAY IN CHICAGO ON WBMX IN THE 80'S. THIS IS ANOTHER GEM BY LIME. GET IT BEFORE IT GOES OUT OF PRINT.
