I recommend for funk collectors like me.
There's only 1 good song on it........2006-08-17
The Pleasure Seekers : legendary 80's stuff.......2005-11-22
The exotic title track was used in an episode in Miami Vice. The increasingly polished production was clearly a big jump from Xperiment (released only a year before).
Hits include This Is For You, I Don't Run From Danger, It Takes 2. My personal favorites are Did In By A Friend and My Radio Rocks.
Finally but where is Sweat and It's Passion .......2005-04-18
FINALLY!!!.......2005-02-21
"X-periment" has always been a beloved album ofg mine. From the upbeat dance track "I Wanna Make You Feel Good," to the romantic and hypnotic "Lollipops and Everything," to the smooth and melodic "Promises Can Break," to the techno-funky "X-Periment," to the hard-driving, rocking "Bad Girl," to the again melodic yet funky "I Can't Take Losing You"...WHEW! Needless to say, I'm excited and grateful to see this album getting a CD release. Now reissue the techno-funk classic "Sweat" and then GET WITH IT ATLANTIC RECORDS and release a DEFINITIVE collection of The System's greatest hits. Come on, the fan base exists to warrant this effort. Email me and I'll gladly write thorough liner notes for it. I'm not an "accredited" music journalist but I would gladly write a fitting tribute to a musical duo that resonated the perfect blend of technology, soul, pop, rock and funk into a sound that was never matched by any other artist/group.
In closing, I can recall the one and only time I ever saw The System perform live and in person. It was a balmy summer night back in 1987. They were the opening act for Cameo at Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia, MD. They were at the peak of the popularity with the recent release of their album and hit single, "Don't Disturb This Groove." Man, they were fantastic. Mic and David shared the stage with three other musicians (one being Paul Pesco, a frequent collaborator of theirs and long-time guitarist for other musicians such as Madonna). Their sound was incredible and Mic's musings and David's prodigious keyboard performances sounded even better than they did on their albums. My only regret is that when they came out on the fringes of the audience to watch Cameo's performance that followed, I didn't go up to them and say, "Thank You." That's all I wanted to say and so I'll say it now. Thank you Mic and David for all of your memorable work together.
