You might not recognize N'Dambi's name, but if you own Erykah Badu's Live album, you've already heard her voice. Better known as Ms. Badu's favorite backup vocalist, N'Dambi is destined to become one of the brightest stars in today's burgeoning neo-soul movement. The Dallas-based artist's debut creation, Little Lost Girl Blues, was self-released under the auspices of N'Dambi's own Cheeky-I Productions. It's a well-crafted gem that deserves a much larger audience than its limited distribution has cultivated. The album opens with the spoken-word mood composition "Picture This," and from there journeys into explorations of scat-laced jazz ("The Meeting"), textured soul ("Can This Be Love"), and lushly retro R&B ("What's Wrong With You"). The album's signature piece is the achingly beautiful "Sunshine," which pairs the artist's straightforward vocals with a spare acoustic guitar line. N'Dambi's style is more substantial than Badu's, less mannered than Amel Larrieux's, and infinitely more complex than Angie Stone's. All comparisons aside, N'Dambi's talent speaks for itself. --Rebecca Levine

4 out of 5 stars Little Lost Girls Blues.......2006-11-20

I was lucky enough to get my hands on this cd before the store ran out of copies. I loved her voice on Erykah Badu's live cd and knew that I'd probably enjoy N'Dambi's debut. The tone of her voice reminds me of Nancy Wilson - her voice is warm & her scatting throughout some songs is stellar & the musical production on the disc as a whole is excellent making it another great entry into the alternative r&b field.

My favorite tracks are: RAIN, SOUL FROM THE ABYSS, THE MEETING, PICTURE THIS, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU, CAN THIS BE LOVE & THE SUNSHINE

If you're an Erykah Badu fan, you'll enjoy this disc too.

5 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL.......2003-05-28

Wonderful CD to drive in your car to on a nice summer day!

4 out of 5 stars good stuff.......2002-11-09

The beats on here is what I apreciate the most, she has like the best Jazy background music I have ever heard. Her voice is similar to "Kelis" but deeper. This is good chill back and relax music. She just needs to up her lyics a bit, and use her voice more, like the way she sung on "Crazy world" and "the sunshine".
Overall it's very much worth the money...Her beats are better than Jill Scott's and Erykah'.s

5 out of 5 stars Great Music..........2002-04-03

N'Dambi tears it down when she backs up Erykah and she really did a fantastic job with her debut CD. "Sunshine" is something that I can play over and over again as well as many others. She's unique and very talented. I hope a big record company picks her up one day. Like her name, the music is unique and deserves a bigger audience. I was hooked when I saw her do a tribute for Nina Simone in Philly at an IAAAM funciton. She had cats standing up and screaming. Get this if you don't have it already....

4 out of 5 stars RADIO IS MISSING OUT.......2001-12-07

I first heard N'dambi back in '97 while she was singing backup for Erykah Badu. When N'dambi did a solo piece, everyone was saying that Erykah better watch out before she's left without a backup singer. well, D'nambi has doneit. This is a really nice CD. Very jazzy. I'll be purchasing several of her CDs for friends to spread the word about her becuase we all know that radio won't do it.

5 out of 5 stars Y'all gon' love this one!.......2001-11-15

Love her voice. Love the instrumentation and arrangements. Love the lyrics. Love it, love it, love it!!! Please don't compare or have expectations of her CD sounding like Erykah's. This is a masterpiece that stands on its own. N'Dambi has got some pipes on her. I can't wait for her next CD to be released.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful work N'Dambi!.......2001-08-27

Little Lost Girls Blues is the first album that I have listened to without having to skip any songs. I loved every song on this album. All of the songs are so truly well-done, and she sings with so much soul and emotion, that its difficult to understand why she is not as widely known. I am so sorry I didn't buy this album sooner, but I'm glad I discovered this incredible gem. I would give it ten stars if I could, and would recommend it to anybody who loves good, solid, quality soul/jazz music.

5 out of 5 stars Soul-full.......2001-06-18

I enjoyed NDambi's CD very much. Her singing is just phenomenal. She has such a strong voice that it touches the soul and makes it full, She has her original cuts and can take an old school song and make it jazzy. I am really feeling her CD and recently had the pleasure of seeing her live in Dallas. Just a true entertainer without all the glitter. I have to give her props because she performed more than the "average 3 songs" alot of artists do for a guest appearance and she had on 3-4" boots the whole time. I admire her spirit and thank her for touching my soul. LOVE IT

5 out of 5 stars This CD is the bomb!.......2000-10-13

I just love this CD. N'Dambi came with it. I don't know why we don't hear any of this on the radio or the video. Soulful, spritual and though provoking. She will be heard from in the future I am sure.
