Digitally Remastered Single Disc with Both Albums of the Original 2lp Issue from the Legendary Drummer.he Played with Jimi Hendrix in the Band of Gypsys and was a Founding Member of the Blues Rock Band, the Electric Flag. "Them Changes" was his Lone Hit on the Pop Charts in the Late 60's.

This is a great album (cd) but for those who aren't in the know, Miles spent a considerable amount of time in Omaha and the aforementioned Paul B. Allen had a little jazz spot called 'Allen's Showcase' on the near North side of town, 23rd and Lake St.. When Buddy was refining his chops he could always depend on Mr. Allen to allow him to sit in and generally stay close to the pulse of the scene. Many greats were either coming through or living, yes, in Omaha, Nebraska. Buddy never forgot the man that gave him a chance when others were doubting his skills and ability, well I guess he showed them...

I first bought the LP back in the 70's (and still have it) and was blown away by it's funkiness. The only problem with the original album was the sound quality. The horns especially were over modulated to the point of hurtin' the ear drums! Even Buddy's voice sounded scratchy on a few cuts but the sound on the cd is so clear without any sound quality loss at all! So after years of searching I found it on Amazon and it was worth the wait!!

I was shocked when my search for the Buddy Miles "Them Changes" album actually came back with a remastered CD. The quality is really good for an overseas version and the songs just can't get any better...

Go ahead, but with caution, when a parent is reminiscent upon their own rock history. For years I've heard my mom talk about "the Buddy Miles concert." The other day I grabbed this and a copy for dear old mom, put it on in the car and tempted the windows to burst. If you listen to the title track you will have either heard it, think you have heard it before, or wish you had heard it sooner. Subject matter goes from loving a woman, to shooting one, but there's no denying the groove, the horns, the funk, the soul, the rock. Former drummer for Hendrix, on "Electric Ladyland" in Band of Gypsy's, and before that even with Wilson Pickett, the man is no foreigner to an overdriven guitar or a battery of brass. He wields both with knowledge and intensity which will render your public shame helpless as you rock your car at stoplights and all point between. What to do with one's body in the presence of such funk is the common foreign language experience for the rhythmically challenged everywhere. But I will struggle with the lapbelt as often as this disc is in the tray.

Pure funk, man!.......2005-01-19

I rarely ever call radio stations, but I heard Serpentine Fire on the radio and I called just to find out who the artist was. It's one of those songs that just gets in your head and you your feet start stomping. :-) That, and Them Changes and Pick Up the Pieces (I like Tom's version just as much as Average White Band's original) are my favorites on this CD. Tom can really jam and he's got a great band to back him up. I don't really like Too Hot -- it sounds like a smokey lounge tune; not my style. But give me some rockin' funk and I'm good to go. These are good, melodic tunes, a pleasure to listen or dance to; great party music.

IT'S ABOUT TIME.....WOW!!!.......2003-10-30

My heart cannot stop pumping harder....I have two LPs of THEM CHANGES and have been searching and searching til searching was frustrating....THANK GOD someone had some sense to put the ORIGINAL LP on CD. The greatest hits is fine...but "DOWN BY THE RIVER" was little bit out of place.

That song was played by my neighbor so much that the grooves evaporated of the record.

1971. Buddy's 3rd album. And, by far, his best, as a whole. It stayed in the top 10 for nearly a year. I remember walking into a record store in Honolulu at the time, and the owner was playing the album overhead. "He's on fire!" he said to me. How very true! This is a *great* collection of songs! Only three of them are on the "Greatest Hits" CD. This album has the original studio version of "Down By The River" with Buddy on lead guitar! So, it's definitely worth spending the cash to get it. Too bad it's only available as an import. One of the *best* albums from from what was left of the '60s in 1971.

But I think they have to have it in stock first. What a shame. This is a great album from back in the day. Buddy Miles was a great drummer (still is I guess, because about a year ago I saw him in an interview, getting ready to do a concert in Honolulu),. And his work with Jimi Hendrix in
the Band of Gypsies, Carlos Santana and a host of others is the stuff of legends.

The recording is great. Hearing the opening of "Them Changes" is like hearing from an old friend who has come back from school.

"Down by the River" is one of my favorite songs from this album and from this era. Being able to find a copy of that (I think this is the only place to find this studio cut on CD). D.B.T.R., "I Still Love You Anyway" and, "Heart's Delight" are among my favorite (along, of course with the title cut).

This is an essential.
