Serving as both a greatest hits collection and a summary of stuff she'd been working on before her death in August 2001, the disc is a keen reminder of just how talented the 22-year-old was as a singer and song stylist. Sure, it's easy to have rhythm aplenty when R. Kelly and Timbaland are guiding you, but Aaliyah's silken phrasings are her own, and her ability to unearth tenderness in even the funkiest jam is a testament to her vision of R&B as musical comfort food. Songs from her three studio albums are well represented. Among them are "I Care 4 U" and "More Than a Woman" from Aaliyah; the title track and "Got to Give It Up" from One in a Million; and "Back and Forth" and "At Your Best" from Age Ain't Nothing but a Number. Great cd/dvd...but be cautious!.......2006-04-30

This is a great cd, although I bought it for the dvd, which contains her music videos. This is definitely a must have for any Aaliyah collector. Definitely worth the money.

However be cautious. I ordered this and it was missing the dvd when I recieved it. The tracklist for it was included, but the dvd was gone. After a bit if digging, I found that there were many others that had the same problem. And there is nothing that Amazon can do about it because it is the product manufacturers fault. So i ordered it again and it included everything. There have also been people who got the dvd, but no cd. So keep this in mind when ordering (even though the chance of this occurring is small.

Just enough for the casual listener.......2006-04-14

Aaliyah's career was cut short due to a fatal plane crash in August 2001. "I care 4 U", released after her death is a mix of new material and old classics. The songs on this disc capture some of her most popular hits such as "Are you that somebody", "One in a million", and "Try again". Beyond the few hits on this disc, the remainder lack depth and creativity.

If you are seeking a light R&B experience, Aaliyah does the trick with her angelic vocals and soulful production (Missy Elliot & Timberland). However, this CD is not one of my favorites in this genre due to its repetitive nature and simply dull non-hit tracks.

Overall this an average listen and nothing more. If you are a fan of Aaliyah this will make a great addition to your collection.

A prelude to "Ultimate Aaliyah" (3.5 stars).......2006-04-11

You have to remember the timeframe to understand the reason for this album. Aaliyah had just passed and the string of incredible hits from her self-titled effort had started to wane. As a result, record execs thought it would be logical to release a half-hit/half-unreleased material to capture Aaliyah's greatest moments and bless them with new music. In theory, this strategy should work. But in practice, it doesn't always receive well and in Aaliyah's case, the response was lukewarm.

One of the biggest reasons for that response was the exclusion of hits. While most of them are here, three huge ones aren't ("If Your Girl Only Knew", "Rock The Boat", and "One I Gave My Heart To") as well as three minor ones ("4 Page Letter", "We Need A Resolution", and "I Don't Wanna"). That's 6 hits that SHOULD have been here, but I guess can't include them all if you are going for that marketing plan.

On the other hand, the unreleased material is very enjoyable. My favorites include: "Miss You" (Aaliyah's farewell anthem), "Come Over" (a sweet, syrupy ballad), and "Got To Give It Up" (remix). I would venture to say this material is BETTER than the album tracks from the self-title release. And that's saying a lot, given Aaliyah made a name off album tracks that should have been singles.

This disc was a quick compilation to accomodate Aaliyah's sudden tragedy. You can tell by its hurried release and exclusion of major hits. But there is some very good unreleased material. Therefore, I will say it's a good disc for die-hard fans, but a casual listener would be better off picking up "Ultimate Aaliyah".

We still Miss You Aaliyah.......2005-07-16

This album is a beautiful tribute to our beautiful baby girl. Fans will recognise some of the best most successful songs from Aaliyah's recording career and also six new and exciting tracks. Aaliyah's voice sounds amazing on every track regardless of the producer. Timbaland clearly emphasised Aaliyah's talent, but on the new tracks Aaliyah still manages to shine even when she is not collaborating with Timbaland. Miss You is very moving and it is clear that we will always remember this fine and respected artist who was a true star long before Beyonce was crazy in love and Ashanti was foolish We love you and we miss you. This cool upbeat r&b album just shows the talent aaliyah had 2 make it big. On the other hand though ther are a couple of bland songs on it 2.
1. BACK AND FORTH = Has an old style feel 2 it, does seem to drag on after a while though.

2.ARE U THAT SOMEBODY = This ONES good, makes u wana get up + really dance. the background beat really gets into u + the words r cool + catchy.

3.ONE IN A MILLION = Quite good ballad, with a funky beat 2 it. her voice sounds so good on this 2 + has a real softness 2 it.

4.I CARE 4 U = beautiful music mixed with a grand piano + sounds like sum1s doin their own mouth sound effect! Sounds weird i no, but it works real good! A beautiful ballad, soft and easy 2 listen to.

5.MORE THAN A WOMAN = The last song to which Aaliyah supposedly sung her voice on + so with that thought in mind, it has, for me anyway, a sort of sadness 2 it, despite its funky, dancey, upbeat style 2 it. A real good, danceable song though, which makes u wana get up + move.

6.DONT NO WAT 2 TELL YA = I quite like this 1 to. This 1 makes u wana get up + move. Her voice sounds cool + raspy on this, + the shakey beat in the background, gives the song some edge.

7.TRY AGAIN= Probably the most memorable song aaliyah ever done, and the one, most would say which debuted her music and pushed her career to a whole differnt,but more respected level. Try again has a cool, scratchy, sound to it, with the upbeat of it fitting perfectly.

8.ALL I NEED = Her voice seems 2 be takin a low note on this 1. Overall quite a good song, the beat is pretty good 2.

9.MISS U = Probably my favourite song on the ablum, so amazingly beautiful. This one really tugs at the heartstrings as the talented memory of aaliyah comes into mind and the sadness of wat happened. The chirping birds in the background really complement the lightness and complicity of the song. It shows the beauty of her voice was so original and strong, like a hummingbird. Heartaching, but amazingly beautiful.

10.DON'T WORRY = Not 1 of my favourites, but its alright all the same, the simplicity of the song, shows her voice off a bit more at bits. Does seem to drag on though + become a tad repetitive.

11.COME OVER = Her voice sounds lovely on this soft style song + the background beat of the song really fits.

12.ERICA KANE = okay, repeats word "erica" in a remix style. The background beat occasionaly includes the tingling of a triangle intrument. Not the best song on the album, but good all the same.

13.AT UR BEST = The beginning of this song where aaliyah is just singin with no background music, with nuthin at all is breathtaking. Her voice sounds so angelic, amazingly beautiful(yes i no i keep sayin that!)This song in particular really shows the true talent of her singing ability. On the other hand though, the song seems to drag on a bit 2 long,+ may become boring.

14.GOTTA GIVE IT UP(REMIX) = O i really like this 1. Aaliyah's remix version is great! Really makes u wana move. Its real soft on the ears + the beat aint 2 hard. LOVIN IT LOVIN IT! very cool!

15.WE NEED A RESOLUTION(FEAT TIMBALAND) = I really like this one 2, this is another of aaliyah's hits. Has a real funky, quirky beat to it, + the lyrics are cool + catchy! also a danceable 1!

16.ROCK THE BOAT = Perfect song 2 end the album, not 2 hard on the ears, + the beat has a real soft, calmness 2 it. A good song 2 wind ur booty 2. LOVIN IT BABY!

"I Care 4 U" is basically a "best of" combined with unreleased material. I liked "Try Again" and "Come Over"(a colab with Tank) is a great song, and should be played on radion more often. You are missed, Aaliyah.

This album, "I Care For You" is basically, old tracks, and new tracks. I loved listening to her older songs such as, "One in a Million," and "Try Again." Her new songs including, "Erica Kane" and "Don't Know What to Tell Ya" were most impressive. I shared "Don't Know What To Tell Ya", a upbeat lyriced song, with a friend and she went out and both the album!
Aaliyah, you were a TRULY magnificent, classic, classy, and mature, individual. I love you so much, and my collage of you is growing daily. Your legacy and music shall live on...

Overall, a very well put together cd.
Aaliah does well on this album with many mixed beats; she uses all kinds of music with some very fast hip hop/jive beats to very laid-back mellow sounds. Some of the tracks on the album are from Aaliah's early days when she first started out with other artists in her songs; which then go up to to the current date to more newer tracks such as 'try again', 'we need a resoulution', 'rock the boat', 'miss you'.etc, also with newer tracks and remixes never heard before too mostly with artists like Timbaland and missy elliot.
Also on some albums there might be 1/2 bonus tracks.
Overall this is a very good album with super body pumping beats to slow love songs, which makes this album perfect for anyone to listen to, which is why i listen to it the most.
And it seems like Aaliah has left us with the perfect ending....

The best of and the rest of.......2003-10-31

This album includes 8 of her biggest hits which are her best songs (the only one I'm not that fond of is One In A Million, it makes me sleepy). But the reason I bought it was that it has some previously unreleased tracks. Now I listen it often, because her best songs are on it (mine is the international edition with We Need A Resolution & Rock The Boat), but I think if she were alive now, most of the new tracks weren't included on any of her new albums and would barely make it to B-sides.
The good ones: "Miss You" (a nice ballad), "Don't Know What To Tell Ya" (this is the best one of them) and "Got To Give It Up (New Remix)", which is much better than the other version on her 2nd album which is full of the annoying talk of some guy.
I don't have the bonus DVD because I don't have a DVD player but you should buy that one, it includes music videos and some other stuff.

She's The Best.......2003-08-08

I love this cd. But then again I love all of Aaliyah's albums. When she writes, she's not all about using profanity and how she got this and that. She talks about her feelings. She helps put in words exactly how you may feel about someone. If you're in a situation when you know that you have feelings but don't know exactly how to say it, Aaliyah can help you. I just wish she was still around to make more music like she has in the past.

well i have different opinions of the release of this album.
first i'm not completely satisfied with the US track listing, i think would've been better to include all her singles and maybe some remixes and then release a B sides album.
the artwork is better on this edition is the same pic of the back cover with this purple end.
the bonus tracks may worth the value of the CD
the VCD includes 'miss you' wich in the US version is not included
