Enter the Dru, R&B quartet Dru Hill's follow-up to their double-platinum debut album. "Is it gonna be on the floor or by the sofa ... by the TV?" If you've kept up with the exploits of pseudo-rude '90s acts on the order of Jodeci and Silk, you know the, er, drill: promises of how the singers are ready to "freak" their ladies vying with whiny ballads, all attempting to demonstrate just how enlightened and sensitive these heroes are. The formula is broken here mainly by an appearance by Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man on "This Is What We Do." Which, in a Wu-mad world, hardly counts as a formula breaker at all.

Vibe
They can sing, but their vocals are not well served by the material.... [Y]ou're left wanting more substance and without a clear sense of who Dru Hill
are.

Customer Reviews:
I'm probably going to catch hell for my opinion..........2007-06-16
...and that's because I don't think that this CD is very good. Lately, I've been reviewing duds and this CD is no exception. The first 10 tracks are pretty boring, minus track number 10, One Good Reason which is OK but nothing spectacular. Another two of those tracks are the intro and the first pointless interlude. Track 11, is another interlude and the song Angel isn't terrible but it's pretty average. Not classic Dru Hill like I'm used to. What Do I Do With The Love is up next and it's another average track. You have NO idea how disappointing this CD is. Finally, with track 14 we get a good song, Beauty. I've heard this one a couple of times and I like it a lot. Moving on...These Are The Times is the next track and it's a keeper. Not classic, but good, nonetheless. Sure did take them a LONG time to start to get things right. The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind) is a great, great song. Probably the best here. Finally, track 17, the final track is called What Are We Gonna Do Now. Is it good? Well, it's better than anything that was offered from track one to ten but it still doesn't stand out all that much.
The best songs here are:
The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind) (This is classic Dru Hill, in my eyes)
Beauty
These Are The Times
What Are We Gonna Do
All in all, I definitely expected more out of them because they are a good R&B group that really brought it with their debut. "April Showers", "All Alone", "So Special" and "5 Steps" are some great, classic R&B tunes. This release has "average" written all over it. Definitely a sophomore slump.
2.5 stars.
4 1/2 Stars What Real R&B is Missing.......2007-03-10
I recently pulled this album from the crates and I feel in love with Dru Hill all over again. This album I was able to play from start to finish without skipping any songs except for the last track. Woody did his thing with his solo track "Angel" and the interludes were really nice. All of their albums were good, but the first album was their best.
90s soul music thrown in with classic street savvy harmony.......2007-01-13
Dru Hill's Enter The Dru was the CD that pushed the group to the fore front of the R&B game. The first single released from the CD, the up-tempo How Deep Is Your Love feat.Redman was a hit single but it was the slow jams that made this CD work. The singles These Are The Times, The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind) and of course the sentimental Beauty are all classic slow jams. Enter The Dru also featured some very strong album tracks including I'm Wondering, Holding You, I'll Be The One and What Are We Gonna Do. Enter The Dru is the best of the late-'90s R&B crooning that laces the silky-smooth grooves with splashes of street-tough shouts that are meant to antagonize as much as they are to seduce and it works very well.
Forgot how great this album is!!.......2006-10-26
These guys definitely had talent back in the day. its so sad to see these groups that have so much talent fall apart. This album does not give you the option to skip any tunes cause every song on here is on point. Definitely a feel good album, worth the money.
Pretty Good.......2006-09-28
I must admit that when this group first came out in the nineties I couldn't stand them. But they were huge in their time the spotlight went from Jodeci to Boyz II MEN and then to Dru Hill. I guess I had my prejudices back in the day because these guys really did have talent. It was just that short guy sisquo who got on my nerves always hopping around on the stage and hunching the air with his platinum blonde -do. Songs like THESE ARE THE TIMES are classic material and bring back a lot of memories. I like upbeat song HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE FOR ME.
