On the singles "Tell Me" and "In My Bed," the vocals not only blend flawlessly into an intricate harmony scheme but also link up perfectly with the booming bass beats. On both songs, Mark "Sisqo" Andrews's raw-edged, full-throttle gospel singing dominates the foreground, but it's his three bandmates' inventive harmonies that distinguish the song from hundreds of similar bedroom ballads. The group members cowrote five of the 14 tracks on their debut album, and group member Tamir "Nokio" Ruffin coproduced four of them, including such Stevie Wonder-ful imitations as "April Showers" and "All Alone." And when teenagers sing like the Temptations and write like Wonder, you have to sit up and pay attention. --Geoffrey Himes

Near-clinical detail are the watchwords on Enter the Dru, R&B quartet Dru Hill's follow-up to their double-platinum debut album. "Is it gonna be on the floor or by the sofa ... by the TV?" If you've kept up with the exploits of pseudo-rude '90s acts on the order of Jodeci and Silk, you know the, er, drill: promises of how the singers are ready to "freak" their ladies vying with whiny ballads, all attempting to demonstrate just how enlightened and sensitive these heroes are. The formula is broken here mainly by an appearance by Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man on "This Is What We Do." Which, in a Wu-mad world, hardly counts as a formula breaker at all. --Rickey Wright

2 out of 5 stars I'm probably going to catch hell for my opinion..........2007-06-16

...and that's because I don't think that this CD is very good. Lately, I've been reviewing duds and this CD is no exception. The first 10 tracks are pretty boring, minus track number 10, One Good Reason which is OK but nothing spectacular. Another two of those tracks are the intro and the first pointless interlude. Track 11, is another interlude and the song Angel isn't terrible but it's pretty average. Not classic Dru Hill like I'm used to. What Do I Do With The Love is up next and it's another average track. You have NO idea how disappointing this CD is. Finally, with track 14 we get a good song, Beauty. I've heard this one a couple of times and I like it a lot. Moving on...These Are The Times is the next track and it's a keeper. Not classic, but good, nonetheless. Sure did take them a LONG time to start to get things right. The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind) is a great, great song. Probably the best here. Finally, track 17, the final track is called What Are We Gonna Do Now. Is it good? Well, it's better than anything that was offered from track one to ten but it still doesn't stand out all that much.

The best songs here are:

The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind) (This is classic Dru Hill, in my eyes)
Beauty
These Are The Times
What Are We Gonna Do

All in all, I definitely expected more out of them because they are a good R&B group that really brought it with their debut. "April Showers", "All Alone", "So Special" and "5 Steps" are some great, classic R&B tunes. This release has "average" written all over it. Definitely a sophomore slump.

2.5 stars.

4 out of 5 stars 4 1/2 Stars What Real R&B is Missing.......2007-03-10

I recently pulled this album from the crates and I feel in love with Dru Hill all over again. This album I was able to play from start to finish without skipping any songs except for the last track. Woody did his thing with his solo track "Angel" and the interludes were really nice. All of their albums were good, but the first album was their best.

5 out of 5 stars 90s soul music thrown in with classic street savvy harmony.......2007-01-13

Dru Hill's Enter The Dru was the CD that pushed the group to the fore front of the R&B game. The first single released from the CD, the up-tempo How Deep Is Your Love feat.Redman was a hit single but it was the slow jams that made this CD work. The singles These Are The Times, The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind) and of course the sentimental Beauty are all classic slow jams. Enter The Dru also featured some very strong album tracks including I'm Wondering, Holding You, I'll Be The One and What Are We Gonna Do. Enter The Dru is the best of the late-'90s R&B crooning that laces the silky-smooth grooves with splashes of street-tough shouts that are meant to antagonize as much as they are to seduce and it works very well.

5 out of 5 stars Forgot how great this album is!!.......2006-10-26

These guys definitely had talent back in the day. its so sad to see these groups that have so much talent fall apart. This album does not give you the option to skip any tunes cause every song on here is on point. Definitely a feel good album, worth the money.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good.......2006-09-28

I must admit that when this group first came out in the nineties I couldn't stand them. But they were huge in their time the spotlight went from Jodeci to Boyz II MEN and then to Dru Hill. I guess I had my prejudices back in the day because these guys really did have talent. It was just that short guy sisquo who got on my nerves always hopping around on the stage and hunching the air with his platinum blonde -do. Songs like THESE ARE THE TIMES are classic material and bring back a lot of memories. I like upbeat song HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE FOR ME.

5 out of 5 stars One of the last groups to ward off Rap from R&B.......2007-07-01

In My Bed *That is the 1 you know even if you were only a casual in the 90s*

But there are 3 more that are just as good or better.

Tell Me
Never Make A Promise
These Are The Times

1st 2 are similar and a bit slow jam but with some assertiveness.
The last is slow and more of a ballad type.

Another 3 are solid tracks.

5 Steps
How Deep Is Your Love
I Should Be...

5 out of 5 stars Actual Hits.......2007-06-02

It actually has all the 'Hits' I was looking for, and I was especially glad it had Cisqo's "Incomplete" on it. I could actually play it all the way through.

5 out of 5 stars Some of the best slow jams of the nineties.......2007-01-13

Dru Hill is a typical story in R&B where ego's destroy the group. Dru Hill was one of the last good groups to come out in the nineties who actually presented good quality R&B and all of the hits are here. Tell Me,How Deep Is Your Love, and Never Make a Promise and many more are here including my personal favorite Beauty. My main compliant with the CD is the songs are mostly all radio edits and there's too many weak tracks from the 2002 flop Dru World Order.

5 out of 5 stars baby making music.......2006-11-05

You must hear track 9 for all music lovers. Everone that hears this cd and track want one for themselves.

5 out of 5 stars great R&B.........one of the best groups.......2006-03-07

I have always liked Dru Hill's music. Their songs are so nice and beautiful. They did a good job compiling these songs, they are definately hits. I enjoyed mostly all of them. My favorites were: 5 Steps, We're Not Making Love, These Are The Times,The Love We Had, and Beauty. This is a very good CD. Mostly all the songs are beautiful.

5 out of 5 stars A smooth, sultry debut .......2007-05-25

This is certainly an impressive debut by these four young men. This album took Comteporary R&B by storm. Mainstream songs like "Tell Me", "In My Bed" and "5 Steps" are energetic but smooth at the same time while album songs like "So Special", "All Alone", "Satisfied", "Love's Train" and "April Showers" are also standouts. There were immediate comparisons to Silk, Boyz II Men and Jodeci. This is a modern day classic album that every R&B soul romantic should have.

I first heard Dru Hill on the soundtrack to Eddie with their hit single Tell Me. Tell Me effectively put Dru Hill near the head of R&B's class of 1996 as the CD featured three more huge ballad singles including In My Bed, 5 Steps and the my favorite Never Make A Promise. The album is a slow jam lovers delight as there are up-tempo tracks. Satisfied, April Showers and their amazing cover of Love's Train. Eleven years later this album still ranks with the best R&B CD'S released in 1996

I didn't like Dru Hill when they came out in the nineties but now I've grown to appreciate their music. After hearing the single "Never Make a Promise" on the radio I changed my mind. Only real artist have the ability to make you appreciate their work a decade after it's finished.

Real artist? What was I on in September of last year? I don't consider these guys as artist but they certainly were entertainers and I really do like the song Never Make A Promise.

Way cool Baltimore R&B posse Dru Hill have it all--boy band sentiments, Motown harmonies, hip-hop handles, and, with the release of Dru World Order, one of the snappiest album titles around. While songs like "Never Stop Loving You," "I Love You," and "Old Love" make it clear the combo isn't about to mess with a winning formula of canoodling, come-hither ballads, Dru World Order takes some detours. The hypnotically rhythmic "No Doubt" jumps with a vaguely Eastern-meets-Caribbean vibe bound to have custom SUVs quaking on the Interstate. Queensbridge emcee N.O.R.E. adds dope rhymes to the ghetto-fabulous "On Me," while Dru Hill's Def Soul labelmate Chinky, of R&B quartet LovHer, adds airy, silken female vocals to the ridiculously catchy, pop-damaged "She Said." And if a dude can't make it to second base while a knock-kneed love song like "I Do (Millions)" plays in the background, then there's no hope. --Kim Hughes

4 out of 5 stars Not A Classic...But Not A Disaster Either.......2007-03-10

After making 2 solid albums and Sisqo doing some okay solo albums, the guys come back together for a mediocre album. I hate to say this, but there are quite a bit of filler in the middle of the album, and a strong beginning and end. Scola does add an element, but I do miss Woody's presence on a lot of the songs and he doesn't have a solo track that i could entirely enjoy. The real Dru Hill fans may be a little disappointment, but its good for the collection.

Standout tracks: "Xstacy Jones", "I Should Be", I Love You, "I Do (Millions)

5 out of 5 stars Great Album with the new member.......2007-01-26

This is a great album. The new member Scola was a great addition. He sang lead & wrote I should be. His voice is great and a great fit with Dru Hill! Scola has a new cd out called Scola's Lost Treasures it on here now for sale. Check it out. But he is a great addition to this group DRU HILL! I love them all!

4 out of 5 stars A Classic.......2007-01-17

Since 1996 when I was in 10th Grade I have been a fan of the Dru Hill Family. The guys came on the scene as young upstarts and really may be the most talented R & B group since Jodeci or Boyz II Men. Ego's appear to have gotten in the way of the groups chemistry but the guys came back strong with a added member to show that these brothers could unite to make a hell of an album. Dru Hill are best when they croon and they have other writers and producers behind them. There early work had great production by Keith Sweat and Babyface and a new ear would have been great. The Bryan Cox track "If I Could" may the most overlooked song but it is awesome. The two up-tempo tracks (sisqo's influence) could have been over looked but overall the 2nd best Dru Hill album behind their debut "Enter the Dru"

2 out of 5 stars Very weak & medicore album from a group capable of more.......2007-01-13

Like many fans I eagerly awaited Dru Hill's Dru World Order, however I was very disapointed as the CD only has four tracks that really impress me. Two of those tracks were the singles I Should Be and I Love You. The only album tracks that impressed me were Xstacey Jones and Never Stop Loving You, other than that it's a filler album as the harmoines are weak and the singing is boring. Two things could have fixed this album the first being enlist better producers such as The Underdogs, Babyface and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Nokio produced over half the album, and much of the songwriting was kept in-house as well which was a mistake for the group. The second thing that could have fixed the album would have been a good cover song as I think Sisqo & Jazz could have easily killed Cameo's Why Have I Lost Your or Gentle by Fredick.

4 out of 5 stars Where is Nokio?.......2006-03-31

i luv this album because this album really showed nokio coming into his own as a producer and songwriter. of course he always produced/co0produced songs on the two previous dru hill albums, such gems such as all alone, beauty and so special which sounds like a mixture of feenin and stay by jodeci... nokio has always showed promise as a producer, but it's on DWO that he really shines... xstacey jones, i love you, she said, i do millions... priceless, timeless and just beautiful... of course there's the up tempo joints... but the ballads are really what make this album special... thats neglecting to mention of course the singing, which is just great... i havent heard of him making any new material lately, which is a shame cos he was really on the road to becoming one of those producers that u always remember for putting out good quality and unique material... nokio if u read this man get back into the studio and do what u do best, u right behind the man himself.... devante!

      5 out of 5 stars Great Album!.......2003-09-06

This album some nice phat joints that any one will enjoy, but because of the commercializing; the songs on this album get no air time. I know if they did then people would go bannanas! Great songs like "who she lovin' now" and "cheatin'" are some of the highlights. A++++!!

      5 out of 5 stars Refreshing.......2002-04-19

Hi, I'm Emilie from London. I thought this album was really refreshing.I can listen to the album without skipping any of the tracks.Devante's "Come on Back" reminded me that He is one of the best RnB producer. This album is one of my favourite album. I have to listen to it at least once a week. But there is something that I really want to know... Who is Steve Huff?? The way he writes the songs reminds me of...R.Kelly!!Could someone give me any information about him? It will be very much appreciated... I can't wait to hear their next album

5 out of 5 stars Best kept secret.......2002-02-23

I find it hard to believe that this CD is not getting more publicity than it is. I thought each song was better than the last. Liberty City mixes old school with new school better than any other group. I haven't heard any of these songs on the radio and I just can't understand why they aren't all playing. This is one CD you will never put away!! All I have to say is don't give up guys and thank you!

      5 out of 5 stars GOOD MUSIC!.......2001-06-14

After I heard Cheatin' from the Shaft soundtrack, I couldn't wait for Liberty City album to drop. This group has talent! The song line-up on this album is very good and the way their voices harmoniously flow togehter makes for a smooth and easy sound.

5 out of 5 stars The Best CD For A Hype Party........2000-01-05

"YOU ARE EVERYTHING" IS THE BEST NAME FOR THIS SINGLE BECAUSE UNLIKE MANY OTHER ARTISTS DRU HILL HAS A UNIQUE STYLE, AND THEY SHOW IT BY TESTING THEIR LIMITS AND SEE HOW FAR THEY CAN GO AND THEY HAVE GONE VERY FAR, EVEN IN THEIR VIDEOS,(BY USING THE DRAGON SHAPED GUITARS). SO KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, AND I CANT WAIT FOR THE DRU WORLD ORDER ALBUM.
