1 out of 5 stars easily the lamest song in existence.......2006-03-03

This song is in no way better than the horrible BritneySpears/NSync/BackstreetBoys denomination. It has a terrible beat, melody, and also a terrible music video if ever you've had the misfortune of seeing it. It horrifies me that this song even got airplay, not to mention its multiple weeks at the top spot! What is this world coming to? I could make a better song with a blade of grass and a mammoth's tusk. There is no way this completely awful song deserves to be on the radio! I loathe it with all my soul! I'm ashamed to be in the same country as this single! Never buy this, listen to it, or even look at it. The song is so terrible.

1 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTE TRASH.......2006-03-03

How can this music even get airplay!? It is so annoying, unskillful, has a terrible beat, and is no better than the Spears/NSync/98 degrees denomination. I am appalled that this song actually was at the number one spot for ten weeks or whatever. If I was allowed to hold this single in my hands it would probably be discombobulated within seconds because I loathe it so much. Terrible video for this song too. Never buy this awful single.

5 out of 5 stars Mariah Can Write and Sing!!!!!.......2005-12-12

Pay no attention to the haters who leave negative messages. It's wierd they even took the time to write negative stuff but I am wierd too so I will write a little negativity. These people are J.Low fans who can't accept the fact that Mariah will always be better in the world of music than J.Ho could ever be.

5 out of 5 stars Best Song Of 2005- - - - Superb Vocal Production........2005-09-26

Mariah's albums during 1999-2003 were largely flops, most notably "Glitter" and "Charmbracelet". Then in 2005 came the album "The Emancipation Of Mimi". The first single "It's Like That" was a modest success and hailed the return of Mariah, but then she released this. "We Belong Together" started a long reign at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and became her 16th #1.

I was amazed by this song, I have never really been a fan of Mariah's though now I definitely plan to buy more albums from her. This song totally caught me out, I found the first single off this album rather average yet this song was simply stunning.

I picked this CD up just yesterday and have been listening to it ever since. I think the remixes are amazing as well, especially the "It's Like That" one featuring Fat Joe. But as a song this has some glorious moments, the most distinguished one being the stunning bridge. Her vocal range is an amazing 5 octaves and the bridge is no trouble for her. She seems to be singing in the whistle register. The chorus is really nice to and the piano intro is superb. The way she crafts other songs into this one is great and shows a little bit of diversity.

- "We Belong Together (Main Version)" 10/10
- "We Belong Together (Reconstruction Radio Mix)" 10/10
- "It's Like That (Remix ft. Fat Joe)" 10/10

I thoroughly recommend this song to anybody though the remixes are perfect the original hit is in a class of its own. She may have stiff competition from Madonna's next single "Hung Up" later in the year as the best song of 2005 but for now it is Mariah's year, and time to shine.

5 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST MARIAH SINGLES EVER!.......2005-08-30

Not only is 'We Belong Together' the most successful single by a solo artist of all time (Mariah cannot beat her own record with her duet with Boyz II Men), but the 'It's Like That' Remix with Fat Joe is great! Most people would need to get the radio rip off of the internet, so it's really hard to find a crystal clear version of this song.

Also, this single includes the VIDEO to 'We Belong Together', so no need to waste computer memory space on this amazing video (#1 on TRL for 8 days, retiring at #1), it's on this CD/VCD!

A great buy, and a great deal! Pick it up NOW!

5 out of 5 stars Touches my heartstrings..........2007-06-16

Robert and Johnny sing great old school tunes.

I like the slow melodic harmonies, such as "We belong together", "Million Dollar Bills" and one I never heard before " Marry Me " brought tears to my eyes. There are hidden gems in this compilation.

The duo compliment each other well and is what R & B/doo wop is all about.

This is the album to sing to your sweetheart or reminence of a lost love.

      Great cd.

This cd is wonderful! You may recognize some of Robert and Johnny's songs from soundtracks such as Pleasantville, proving that out of all the 1950s musicians they stood out and were of the best.No Buddy Holly or Jerry Lee Lewis, but a different style which is almost as fabulous as BH and JLL's rock n' roll!

4 out of 5 stars Oh this is too deep!.......2006-08-29

This song harkens me back to my High School days with it's sing-a-long lyrics and sweet Summertime feel. It is a song you would hear in the park with all the Low Riders (my brother was into the "cholo"/Low Rider thing) chilling around with their girlfriends and having a picnic. This song brings such memories back with that "Old School" urban flair.

Now for the remixes. Dark and Sinister describe Peter Rahoufer's remix efforts here, not that is a bad thing but this song has that sentimental "Puppy Love" type of feel that is totally stripped away here. You get the feeling of being in a no-man's land here with all the cold and calculated electronica. Yes this song is about loss but in this setting there is a forboding sense of hopelessness. As a side note, the music reminds me of Depeche Mode's work in the early 1980s. Depeche Mode and Mariah Carey....Wait a minute, that's just tooo deep...ly craZY!!!a

Now on with the Atlantic Soul Remixes. First don't pay attention to the fact that I personally know Craig Christenson who is better known as DJ Craig C., formerly of The Pound Boys, but that's not important. Formerly from Denver, Colorado, Craig C now resides in San Francisco, so I am at a loss with the whole "Atlantic Soul" bit. I guess he is trying to capture the feel of that style. When I listen to this, I hear the typical sound of ol C-boy. There is an element of humaness to his remixes as he draws on his taste for Disco, R&B and Soul along with his other likings for Gospel, Rock and Jazz. This mix is defininetly more warm that the PR remixes but I still think some of the sentiment is lost in the translation in the same way I felt was the case when Craig and - then remix partner DJ Dealer did the honors for Carey's cover of the 1980s Phil Collins hit "Against All Odds".

Having said all this, the original version is the best but all is not lost with the remixes but in the end, I believe the original version will be the one that is remembered.

5 out of 5 stars One of my all-time favorites.......2006-03-13

Not much to say here except that the Reconstruction Radio Mix of this song is one of my all-time favorites!

5 out of 5 stars All the grooves.......2005-12-29

This girl does have a really good upbeat and tone to all of her music. We belong together is such a great song. And I hope everybody thinks that to. she is very very pretty. and seems to have a great Talent. She has a great oppurtunity to be even better then she is right now. All of her videos are awesome, and all the diffent types of mixtures they have for the songs are better than any other. Mariah Carey seems to write her own songs. And to me her music is herself. her number one hit on her other cd was Shake it off. And We Belong Together. Great tones and she has a voice of a rapper. But not so much. Please enjoy this review and you won't be dissapointed with any of her cds.

      5 out of 5 stars such a beautiful song.......2005-12-28

I love the pianos and snaps in this and the catchy fast paced melody. It was definitely the best song of the year and I can't get enough of it.

      4 out of 5 stars so so.......2005-10-28

I liked the song 'we belong together' the best. None the less, the cd is pretty cool.

5 out of 5 stars Remix Is Classic Mariah.......2005-09-01

Although it has not been released commercially in the US, save for availability on iTunes, the Remix of "We Belong Together" featuring Jadakiss and Styles P. is an essential listen Mariah for fans casual, diehard, and everywhere in-between.

Now in its 13th week #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, "We Belong Together" has clearly proven itself Mariah's biggest single in her more than 15 years of recording. Is it possible that the Remix is just as good as the original, or maybe even better? You bet.

Jadakiss and Styles P. lay down an excellent rap that fits perfectly into the groove of Jermaine Dupri's frothy piano-driven production. They infect the song with a shot of humor, while Mariah sings her lyrics in a more subtle, laid-back manner, while still showing off her voice like no one else but she can toward the song's end, albeit in a less powerhouse fashion than on the original.

The end result of the Remix is pure perfection, and sits right up there with all of Mariah's hip/pop remixes she has made of her singles since 1995 when she began with the Bad Boy Mix of "Fantasy" with ODB. Furthermore, it's a seperate song in its own right, and smatters even more of a track you'd imagine eminating from a radio on the beach in the summer's dog days than the original does.

All things considered, the Remix of "We Belong Together" is essential listening for all of Mariah's fans and admirers. A lot of time, thought and talent went into this reinterpretation, and it shows.

3 out of 5 stars The remix is okay........2005-08-19

The original is excellent, and it's no wonder that it was, and still is a chart topper. But the remix is really nothing special. Just download the remix off of iTunes for 99 cents, instead of buying this 2 track single.

3 out of 5 stars Remixes suck but the album verison still wins..........2006-05-19

I have to admit being a club music fan as well. The remixes for this marathon chart busting single was a very disappointing turnout for such a huge song that dominated the charts for the spring and summer of last year 2005 and is still being played non-stop on radios across the world. Even here in Malaysia and no kidding about that. I can assure of that. This song as made her welcomed back to the music scene and which was partly the reason why she is on TV so much nowdays still releasing singles from her current platinum version of her album. "We Belong Together's remixes really sunk down the name of the song. Except for the Reconstuction club mix part 2 not available on any CD format. This is slightly worthy but still lacks that club wack sound that it needs so much. The soul Atlantic remixes didn't help either but they were alright to listen to but not enough to enjoy grooving to. C'mon people where is your sense of club music style. The clubs are willing to play the song. But the club versions stink to the point where only the remix and the original version are only excepted. Shame on you remixers. You should know better than to disrespect club goers who wanna enjoy this song. Take a cake people and get the single which only has the original verison along with the remix which saves the song from disaster people out there. The club versions are not worth your time and money to waste upon.

1 out of 5 stars Remixes are hugely disappointing.......2005-12-11

Here you have the #1 U.S. pop single of 2005 and one of Mariah's finest vocal performances in years. This song had such the potential to be a huge club anthem - the anthem of the year really, but instead turns out to be a huge letdown. Instead Madonna's "Hung Up" and Pussycat Dolls' "Don't Cha" will end up as the club anthems of the year (4 weeks and 3 weeks at #1 on the Billboard dance chart respectively).

Peter Rauhofer's Reconstruction Mix of "We Belong Together" has to rank as one of his most disappointing mixes ever. The beats are bland and repetitive and Mariah's vocals are suppressed to the point that you can't believe this is supposed to be one of the best tracks of the year. Certainly not a "hands in the air" type of anthem. This is the type of mix that makes people leave the dance floor in search of a drink. The Atlantic Soul Mixes are not very club worthy either. Rauhofer's Reconstruction Mix Part 2 (not available on CD anywhere) is slightly better but even it is a letdown.

"We Belong Together" has certainly gotten enough exposure this year through tons of airplay (#1 radio airplay track of the year), MTV, and otherwise. We shouldn't have had to suffer through this horrible set of remixes. Please don't waste your money on this single.

      1 out of 5 stars Lacking.......2005-09-14

First impressions are often very telling and in this case mine wasn't far off the mark. Though the first three seconds or so are simply a few high notes on a piano, Mariah apparently couldn't resist throwing in a few unintelligible "uhoooooohoohohhh"s- to get us in the mood I suppose. Then in comes the lackluster beat, if you can call it that. So far, nothing too thrilling. Just some unimportant whispers and an uninspiring beat to start off this masterpiece.
I guess I'll ignore the improper grammar simply because it's song lyrics and song lyrics deserve some poetic license, so to speak. Now I'm getting into the meat of the song and I must say that in this case, that meat is sliced so thin that you can clearly see right through it. If I didn't get the message from the murmur of the words "sweet love," certainly from the first few lines I conclude that this is a love song of sorts. Now there's nothing quite like a wonderful love song, but there's nothing quite like a truly crappy one either. I think we know which category this song falls into. Her voice never was that horrible and even in this song it's not so bad; that is until she begins her attempt to actually sing and what comes out is a three minute, twenty second horror.
The lyrics are completely trite and unoriginal- they're about some relationship in which the girl whines the whole time about how "Oh, what I wouldn't give to have you lying by my side right here, cause baby when you left I lost a part of me. It's still so hard to believe. Come back baby, please cause we belong together...There ain't nobody better. Oh, baby baby, we belong together." It's pathetic.
However, I feel I must give Mariah due credit for capturing the mood of the song perfectly with her whines and whispers and also for saving the best- desperate screeching and high-pitched whining- for last.

      5 out of 5 stars speak up.......2005-07-24

This is one of the best songs MC has ever released. So lets be honest to give her the right amount of stars for this song. She deserves at least 5 stars for this great song. The lyrics are so super. I can't say anything bad about this song, 'cause it's just too good. Look at the charts people!!
People who give this song 1 star are just wrong.

1 out of 5 stars This Song Makes Me Throw Up.......2005-07-19

I never thought I'd see the day when I would hear a Mariah Carey song on the radio and turn it off. I used to be Mariah's #1 Fan, but now I can't put up with her anymore. "We Belong Together" has to be the worse song of 2005. The song is just a bunch of whining and towards the end that's when Mariah starts her squealing and shrieking. Annoying! Did you see the video for this song? Hasn't that theme already been done a million times before? Jon Secada used it for his "If You Go" video back in the early 1990s. And just because the song mentions Babyface and The Deele ("Two Occassions") and Bobby Womack ("If You Think You're Lonely Now") that doesn't make the song deep. Most of you probably don't even know who Bobby Womack and The Deele are. Anyway, this song sucks.

getting the MAXI single of We Belong Together for the long Peter Rauhofer mix is a must, but this single is crucial for Mariah collectors due to the remix of It's Like That. It strips down some of the vocal and remixes some of the instrumentation while retaining the original groove, and also cuts out some of the chorus's for a rap by Fat Joe. Casual listeners won't be too interested, but Mariah fans should have this one.
