I love the r & b tracks. She is so fly. The ballads are so so; they are not as good as her earlier work. If you're looking for classic Mariah, this is not the album for you. I love it.

When i first listened to this cd i didn't like it too much, but after playing it a few times some of the other songs grew on me. Worth it just to get the hits though.

I love this album and it is really sad that people are sleeping on it (lol it is six times platinum). This is a complete album that you can listen to from beginning to end. Mariah really did a great job of showing how talented she really is. It is a mixture of everything, this cd is up beat yet laid back, and it's a classic. This is her best album in my opinion and I can't wait for the next one.

I never realized fully how good this album is. It's her best since Daydream and Butterfly!!.......2007-05-31

I'm gonna start off by saying that we all shouldn't deny that Mariah's voice isn't what it was back when those previously mentioned albums were released. It's not bad, but it has waned a bit.

But to get to the songs, it seems just like her Daydream album (which is my favorite from her): hit after hit after hit. The only songs I skip sometimes aren't even bad. It's just sometimes Mariah gets the yelling (Circles, Stay The Night) and I have to skip 'em.

If you don't have ANY of Mariah's albums (who wouldn't have at least one?) I would start with either this album or Daydream. If you do get this one, make sure it's the Platinum Edition because the extra songs are worth it. The only reason I could see someone getting the original Emancipation is for the beautiful cover which is superior to this one. But don't both look great?!

Some highlights are Shake It Off, Mine Again, One And Only, Your Girl, Fly Like A Bird and Don't Forget About Us.

Get this if your a Mariah Carey fan... To be honest I'm not a Mariah Carey fan... I mainly bought this because Snoop Dogg is on it.

Mariah Stepped Her Game Up!!!.......2007-02-28

Mariah stepped her game up from her last 2 albums and the buzz was definitely worth it. The first half of the album is good and the end was good, but the middle is a bunch of fillers. "Fly Like A Bird" is definitely the best track you kinda get a feel of the old Mariah back it the 90's. Great job and can't wait for the next album.

MARIAH-- TRULY FLIES LIKE A BIRD IN THIS UNFORGETTABLE ALBUM.......2006-07-07

The name of this album pretty much states the overall status of this widely-acclaimed collection. This is truly one of the best albums in all of musical history with it's unique sense of style, sweet melodies, unforgetable lyrics, and upbeat rhythms. "The Emancipation of Mimi" truly signifies music of the already progressing millennium. Mariah has lived up to "artist of the decade" in the 90s and clearly displays now.

This is honestly her greatest yet. It is a must-have and deserves re-released as a diamond album like "Music Box" and "Daydream."

Amazing music. Great songs. Splendid voice. One of the most beautiful albums of her career, that proves once again the talent and amazing vocality of Ms. Carey. A must have!

Okay for me........2007-01-09

I expected a little more of this album. She continues to blow, but I feel there's not enough "Maraih" in it. Gotta give up the 4 though because she still runs neck and neck with Whitney as my favorite female vocalists.

The edition with the limited poster is in the one with the digipack (cardboard) packaging and is neither the ultra edition with the 4 bonus tracks or the ultra platinum edition with 4 bonus songs and dvd

Wow, this music sure is generic & pointless. Here's a little tip for all the "music fans" out there, don't buy a cd because you like the way a singer looks, just download their pictures off the internet & save some money.

Mariah proves to still be the BEST singer EVER!!!!.......2005-06-27

Mariah Carey never ceases to amaze me!! Charmbracelet may not have been her best album vocally but what amazed me by that album was that it didn't sound like any other of her other albums and it was like that "My Saving Grace" song was made for me because since I am a Christian, I feel exactly the same, Lord Jesus is my saving grace. After just one listen to The Emancipation Of Mimi, it amazes me how Mariah is not afraid to take chances, she doesn't have to have every single album sound exactly alike, she does what she wants and doesn't let anyone tell her what to do. NO album is exactly alike. There's always progression. I am, always have been, and always will be Mariah's true and hugest fan!! It's like Mariah writes these songs for me, I mean that I can totally relate, I'm a girl so it's not literally for me but hopefully people will know what I mean!!! I totally love The Emancipation Of Mimi which debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts and spawned Mariah's 16th #1! As I am writing this review I have now listened to it over 200 times since it came out!!!

The song It's Like That is so awesome to dance and sing along to. I love the music, the lyrics, and especially Mariah's powerful vocals! My all time favorite song is really hard to pick because there are two songs that I love and really can't decide between the two. We Belong Together is such a wonderful, beautiful slow ballad that reached number 1 on Billboard, Mariah's 16th #1, it's so powerful musically, vocally and lyrically and Mariah's voice is so amazing and everyone who thinks Mariah can't sing anymore, don't know what they're talking about because Mariah's voice is so incredible, especially on the end of this song!!! I totally love it!!!! The song Fly Like A Bird is such a spiritually, powerful song and it's amazing that Mariah wrote these words that I've been wanting to say, well I've been searching for the right words and it's Mariah who knew exactly what I was feeling toward the Lord. Mariah's church Minister or Pastor speaks throughout the song and "His Love Will Never Forsake You Or Leave You Alone, Trust Him" is forever in my soul. Words like "Carry Me Home, Higher Jesus, Carry Me Higher Lord" and "I Need You Now Lord, Carry Me High, I Need The Strength Of You By My Side" and "Keep Your Head To The Sky, With God's Love You'll Survive." There is also a Choir singing. This song tells exactly how I feel toward the Lord Jesus and what I want to say to him. There's nothing better than my favorite singer of all time singing about my saviour, Lord Jesus!!! Another favorite of mine is Joy Ride. Not because my name is in the title, because it's such a cool pop song that you can sing along to and Mariah's vocals are over the top, especially at the very end of the song with Mariah doing that really high note and that long note she holds at the end, it's incredible!!!!! I love the music during the chorus of Joy Ride with drum and bass beats, it's awesome!!! Shake It Off is a really cool R&B upbeat song. Mine Again is another slow ballad that Mariah belts on. Mariah just about belts on every single song, especially on We Belong Together, Mine Again, Joy Ride, and Fly Like A Bird. Say Somethin' with Snoop Dogg is a really cool dance R&B song with a really cool beat to dance to and I find myself singing along to this song too. Stay The Night is a very soulful and unique song, the music reminds me of something from the 50's or 60's and I love the way Mariah sings and belts. I love It!! Get Your Number with Jermaine Dupri is a cool upbeat R&B song that I also like. One And Only with Twista is a cool mid-tempo song that I like a lot. Circles is another slow ballad that I love and love the way Mariah sings!! Your Girl is a really cool upbeat song and I love the way Mariah sings in the chorus, it's a really cool song to sing along to!!! In I Wish You Knew, Mariah speaks a few times during the song and you hear an audience, a very beautiful slow ballad, I especially love the end when Mariah hits that high note!!! To The Floor with Nelly could be the next club song, it's a really cool upbeat R&B/Hip-Hop song.

When I hear the song Fly Like A Bird, I picture just soaring way up high in the clouds because the song just makes me think of being up there in the clouds, being free, and on Joy Ride, I picture being up in the stars because the whole song makes me picture being up there high and flying through the stars. If Mariah was to make a music video for Fly Like A Bird, I picture her just soaring through the clouds on an Eagles' wing or something and for Joy Ride, I picture Mariah soaring through the stars. Mariah sings with so much emotion, soul, and power on these songs, all 14 of them, using all 7 of her octaves, hitting that really high note a lot!!! There is all sorts of elements, Pop, Hip-Hop, Soul, Gospel, and R&B. I have noticed that a lot of people are stating that Mariah is in her 40's or 50's and that is NOT TRUE!! Mariah was born in 1970 so she's only 35! And I also noticed people are just assuming that every other track has a hip-hop collaboration. NOT TRUE!! Out of 14 tracks, only 4 of them have some kind of collaboration which means 10 of them are JUST MARIAH!!! And if you get the U.K. version, 11 are JUST MARIAH with Sprung. Mariah's new CD, The Emancipation Of Mimi is a MUST HAVE for anyone who likes any of those elements I listed above and especially Mariah fans!! Mariah is the BEST!!!

STEEP price, but bonus tracks NOT filler--and NOT on Platinum edition!!!.......2005-09-07

I'm speaking specifically about this import with the 2 bonus tracks and DVD. If you can nab this one from the marketplace for more like 40 bux (same price as the other imports with simply 1 bonus track and no DVD), do so without a second thought. Sprung and Secret, the 2 bonus tracks are both hot jams, and help balance out the number of downtempo songs and ballads on the CD. These are literally 2 of the strongest tracks on this disc, and I wasn't disappointed.

And, to just stab fans and buyers in the back, the record company RE-releases the "Platinum Edition" with added tracks here in the US...and STILL leaves these 2 tracks off!!!

A New Look, New Music, Makes You Wonder?.......2005-08-01

Okay. To be honest it's good to see Mariah back in the spotlight especially when she is, for the fourth week on the top with "We Belong Together" here in Malaysian Radio Stations. Malaysian fans are cracking thenselves at whatever anything to do with Mariah now! Anyways with all the hype it's not hard to question. What happened with Glitter and Charmbracelet? Why were they considered "crap"? Because of Mariah's voice! It was so whispery. My goodness it was so WEAK! I wanted to give up listening to Mariah after those years. But when her new album came out it chnaged my outlook at her. I paused whether or not to her new album (Here in Malaysia), because I was so disappointed with her past albums so far. Of course I understood her situations at those times. But I couldn't understand why she pitied herself so much. IT WAS A MICTAKE! Anyways when I lisntened to her new album. I never put to CD off the hook. Not Once! I just loved her new material. her voice seems to be much, much better actually. In addition that her music sounds like her ground and not being so POP-ish like before. This album brings back her reminscence of "Daydream" if you listen closely. Only look at it from a mature side. That's how the album is on a plus side. But the minus of this album is that some of the songs require soul. (E.g. "Mine Again" and "Circles"). Now for Mariah to sing soul songs would require her not to scream so much. Yet in those two songs we see her doing so. she struggles to reach those notes. AND she shouldn't! Mariah can sing soul but to a certain extent only. Now whether or not I pass judgement or not. I love her new album anyways a big extent. That was just a minor perdicament. There are just some songs not meant to be sung by her that's all. Don't get me wrong her new stuff is fantastic!!!!!! I Love it!!! Don't let that put you all off. I recommend you listen to these songs from her album to be listened to.

(4) Wish You Knew (5/5) ; A Good live track! Reminds me of Alicia Keys live though. But A VG effort!!!!
(5) Fly Like A Bird (5/5) ;A Good close to her album! A Gospel song to herself!!!!
(6) Say Somethin', Get Your Number and To The Floor are club burners!!!! If you wanna burn the night away these tracks will take you there!!!!
There are two bonus tracks for her album that I got on a normal issue here in Malaysia for some reason but it was the last copy in that shop! SPRUNG and SECRET LOVE are both good tracks to listen to if you get the chance! Over all the album lends a bit of all sides of music!! But you won't find yourself pressing the skip button though 'Cause I NEVER DID!!!!!
So go ahead and give this album a spin! It's your choice!
*****But A word of warning to old Mariah fans. You may not like this album's content SO PLEASE LISTEN TO IT FIRST!!!! Don't condemn it!!

this cd is mariah's best. nothing or no one tops it. she is the ultimate diva. oh yeah and she is by far the most beautifull person to ever enter this planet.
