Every once in a while there comes along a truly unique idea in children’s entertainment, and the AB CD happens to fall into that category. The brainchild of Phil Yeend, a recording engineer/producer who has worked with the likes of Elvis Presley, John Williams, Clint Eastwood and Pete Fountain, the AB CD is a compilation of traditional nursery rhymes sung in alphabetical order by a group of young children. Now 27 nursery rhymes sung by children doesn’t sound like such an original idea until you add new and unusual interpretations and some of the best session players in the industry backing. up the singers. Yeend managed to put together an impressive roster of string, horn and rhythm musicians, under the direction of composer Mauro Bruno, that adds a wonderful depth to the familiar lyrics.

None of the young singers, also known as AnyBody’s Clubhouse Kids, had any previous professional experience, a bonus when you consider how reminiscent their sweet voices are of childhood days. They truly could be anybody’s kids -- a plus for the preschoolers for whom the CD is intended -- it could be their friends singing, and it’s easy for them to join in and sing along.

Beginning with the familiar Alphabet Song and ending with the lively and original Zig Zag, the AB CD has unique renditions of many nursery favorites, including “It’s Raining, It’s Pouring,” “Little Bo-Peep,” and “Rock-A-Bye, Baby,” as well as some not-so-familiar tunes like “Elsie Marley” and “North Wind.”

An inspiring collection, the AB CD has already won an Award of Excellence from the Film Advisory Board.

I HAD THE PLEASURE OF HEARING THIS SONG TONIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME AND WAS SIMPLY SWEPT OFF MY FEET TO THE POINT THAT I GOT ON THE INTERNET, FOUND THE ARTIST AND ORDERED THE CD!!! IF IT IS AS GOOD AS THE ONE I HEARD TONIGHT, THIS CD WILL BE PLACED IN MY ALL TIME FAVORITE COLLECTION.....RICKEY PRICE.

I have not actually heard the whole CD. The one song that caught
my attention is Abundantly Blessed. And I was wondering if I can
get the music track w/vocals. This particular song was played on Bobby Jones Gospel (it aired here on April 27th, '03) on BET. I
am a singer myself and minister at my local church and whereever
God opens a door for me to minister. This song really ministered to me in a great way! And I have asked the Lord to let me be a

Impressive Swedes!! I expected the greatness the likes of EGGSTONE or CARDIGANS and got a phenominal 2cd Floyd Wall/Who Quadraphenia parody instead. You will choke looking for all the campy Rock Opera cliches. Highly recommended, they really nail the pomp rock niche with this one.

lush, atmospheric, and P Floyd-esque.......2007-02-20

AB-CD is short for Abecedarians, a short-lived Southern California band that created lush, atmospheric guitar-driven tunes that sounded like Michael Brook in a four-piece. I have seen some of their singles hanging around, but got the entire collection of studio and live productions from a guy in SoCal who found a couple of the band members and got permission to reproduce their entire work in one compilation. Wonderful unkown band.

Tempted To Pay The Outrageous Asking Prices For Used.......2005-06-12

I had many of these cuts on their original vinyl sources, which is why - that one fateful afternoon at the record store when I held this in my hand - I didn't get it. Big mistake.

MTV gave the cut 'Soil' some play on 120 Minutes (it is one of their best - good video too) and they made some nice comps to boot. I think this is kinda dark, almost what is now called goth; but this band could really play and the songs were always tight. If you remember 120 Minutes back then it was like an analog Leather Nun or Wire kinda. At the same time, if you like the classic early goth era, it is a little like 'Faith' era cure, mixed with prime Sisters Of Mercy too, but better musicianship, an American sensibility, and less drama.

I wish I had this! Please re-issue the damn thing! Find it online somehow. So good. Soil, Ghosts, Smiling Monarchs, Coconut Tree...all gooood.
