About the Artist
Lil' Rice, Red-D., June, and Spuddy come together to create Maxx Luther. Maxx Luther is one man with four different qualities. Each one of these men represent a separate entity of that man. Every woman is searching for a particular type of man. Maxx Luther feels that there are only four sides of him. Lil' Rice, Maxx Strong, the protector, the care taker who lets her know she's always safe in his presence. Red-D, Maxx Sexy, the enticing seducer, supplies all the physical needs that satisfy with guarantee. June, Maxx Success, the spoiler, shows that he can give a woman all the material possessions she can ever handle while taking care of business to keep the cash flowing smoothly. Spuddy, Maxx Sensitive, the romantic, will sit and listen to every worry, problem, situation,or issue she has while giving her the comfort and attention she longs for. Without these qualities, a man is simply nonexistent. But with them, he is the ultimate ladies man. Lil' Rice, Re! d-D, June, and Spuddy is Maxx Luther.

4 out of 5 stars 70's Greatest Rock Hits #1 Hits Vol.9.......2007-05-14

This album along with the other volumes (1-15) provide a very nice collection of 70's Rock Hits. Used condition of CD was found to be in good condition and played with out any noticable loss of sound quality.

5 out of 5 stars All the hits.......2007-03-21

This CD is GREAT!!! My wife loves it too! From the first song to the last song, you'll be singing along and getting down like you did back in the seventies. *****

5 out of 5 stars Solid Seventies CD.......2007-01-12

You know for a decade much derided by shriveled exhippy babyboomers from the 60s, the 70s certainly produced a mountain of memorable and creative tunes. This is a great CD with some of the decade's best stuff.

4 out of 5 stars A decent collection of mostly one hit wonders from the 1970s.......2003-11-06

Volume 9 in the "70's Greatest Rock Hits" collection is one of the more thematic offerings in the series, with most of the songs being about love (or the absence thereof). You do have to be wary of the sugar content on some of these songs, such as the Captain & Tennille's "Love Will Keep Us Together" and "He Don't Love You (Like I Love You)" from Tony Orlando & Dawn. But then you have one hit wonder Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again (Naturally)," which balances out all of the sweetness all by itself. There are only ten tracks on this album, but most of them are in that one hit wonder mold so if you are missing B.J. Thomas' "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head," Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the Sun," and "Escape (Pina Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes, this is a good way of filling some holes in your music library with regards to minor hits from the Seventies because unless you are a big fan of Tony Orlando and Dawn or the Partridge Family, you are probably not going to have three or four albums actually put out by these artists.

5 out of 5 stars This is a great CD!.......1998-12-03

I love this CD! Whenever I have homework or a test to study for, this one goes right into the player. My favorite songs are "Ventura Highway" by America and "Dream Weaver" by Gary Wright. Don't delay, buy "70's Greatest Rock Hits Volume 6: FM Hits" today!

The Rza out does himself again, and the Wu-Tang family comes out blazing. If your a fan of the iconic rap group this is a must have. If you have any G-Unit cd's, please return, or throw them out. Get all Wu-Tang joints. If your a fan of this type of music please checkout The visionaries.

2 out of 5 stars What??.......2006-10-27

Ok. I love the wu. i repeat, i love the wu. i don't understand how anybody could give this album 5 stars. it is mediocre at best. the best track is "never again" by remedy. if you think this album is 5 star material, then you havent experienced true wu tang. if you want the real wu sound get these albums:
1. think differently presents: Wu-Tang meets Indie Culture
2. enter the wu-tang - 36 chambers (DUH!!)
3. Raekwon-only built 4 cuban linx
4. Bronze Nazareth - The Great Migration (My favorite album right now)

dont get stung by the swarm - burn this album from someone else's copy. if you're gonna buy something, buy the bronze nazareth or the indie culture album

4 out of 5 stars Killa Beez On Da Swarm !!!.......2005-01-06

The formal introduction of Wu-Tang Clan's extended family known as The Killa Beez.
1-The Legacy (Royal Fam) Good song. Timbo King kills the mic.
2-Concrete Jungle (Sunz of Man) Not the first time people heard Sunz Of Man. But everyone was mostly familiar with Killah Priest. This album was actually released on the same day that Sunz Of Man's "The Last Shall Be First" came out.
3-Co-Defendants (Shyheim & Hell Razah)I first heard Razah on the song before this one, and when I heard him here again with Shyheim I was convinced. Razah is my favorite Sunz Of Man member.
Sorry Priest.
4-S.O.S.-Shoot On Sight.(Inspectah Deck & Steetlife) As usual, nothin but fire from INS and Street.
5-Execute Them (Wu-Tang Clan w/ Streetlife) Perhaps THE best song, and not because it is a Wu-Tang song. Raekwon, Masta Killa and Inspectah Deck all kill it with a hot chorus from Streetlife.
6-Bronx War Stories (A.I.G.) This group, whose name stands for Allah Is God are from the Bronx. The two members are Allah Wise and Darkim B Allah. This was the first time I heard of them (and I'm from the Bronx.)
7-And Justice For All (RZA as Bobby Digital w/ KillArmy and Method Man) This was the first time RZA performed under his Bobby Digital alias. I know alot of people were surprised that this new MC (Bobby) sounded alot like RZA. KillArmy (specially Killa Sin) are great and Method (as usual) is pure fire.
8-Punishment (Black Knights Of The North Star) First appearance from these west-coast Killa Beez. Pretty Impressive. This group would later separate into two groups: Black Knights (Holocaust, Doc Doom, Crisees, and Monk) and North Star (Christ Bearer & Meeko). Holocaust absolutely destroys the mic in his verse of this song, which is the first verse.
9-Bastards (Ruthless Bastards) Little is known of this group. This is one of their few appearances. The only members I know are Appocalipps and Pearl Handlez.
10-On The Strength (The Beggaz) I know even less of this group. The song is crazy tho. Alot of high science.
11-Cobra Clutch (Ghostface Killah) Do I even have to stress how hot his song is? I mean, it is The Ghost i am talking about. NUFF SAID.
12-Never Again (Remedy) First appearance by this white (Jewish) MC from Staten Island. Very Knowledgable song about his roots and the whole holocaust experience. You know if a white boy is down with Wu-Tang, he GOTTA be nice.
13-Where Was Heaven (Wu-Syndicate) PURE HOTNESS. these virgina cats are fire. They actually known some of the members of Wu-Tang for awhile. Before Wu-Tang were signed and they used to do shows in Virginia, people looked at Wu-Tang like aliens from outta space. But Wu-Syndicate (Crime Syndicate) at the time, showed them love. They swore to each other who ever got put on first, they would introduce the other to the world. Sure enugh, Wu-Tang got fame first and several years later, they introduced this group who changed their name to Wu-Syndicate outta respect. Thats Peace.
14-97 Mentality (Cappadonna w/ Ghostface Killah) This song definately shows Cappadonna's freestyle skills in the same fashion that he did on Ghostface's "Winter Wars" from the IRONMAN album. (Tip: Cappadonna taught Inspectah Deck how to rhyme. Cappa's name was Original)
15-Fatal Sting (Black Knights Of The North Star) The second performance from these west-coast killa beez is the last song of the album. Listen to Doc Doom and Crisees' verses on this song. Pure Hot Sh*t.

4 out of 5 stars good Wu compilation.......2004-12-09

For only having 6 of the 9 original members and a bunch of Wu-Affiliates I wasn't expecting this to be as good as it was. Only has 1 really weak track with 3 ok ones, the rest are good or better with 2 classics. It's got some gangsta $h!+ and some deep songs too. A must have album for Wu-Tang fans.

#1 - 7.5 (royal fam)
#2 - 7.5 (sunz of man -- prodigal sun, 62nd assassin, hell razah -- no killah priest)
#3 - 8 (shyheim, hell razah)
#4 - 9 (inspectah deck, street life)
#5 - 8.5 (raekwon, inspectah deck, street life, masta killa)
#6 - 9 (AIG)
#7 - 9 (rza, killarmy, method man)
#8 - 6 (black knights)
#9 - 7.5 (ruthless bastards)
#10 - 8.5 (beggaz -- deep song)
#11 - 10 (classic by ghostface killah)
#12 - 9.5 (remedy -- very deep song)
#13 - 9 (wu-syndicates -- deep song)
#14 - 10 (classic by Cappadonna & Ghostface Killah -- great beat)
#15 - 8 (black knights)

Nearly a decade into his career, Ice Cube remains at the forefront of gangsta rap--but when it comes to manipulating sounds, he sometimes seems one-dimensional, especially when compared with the likes of Snoop Doggy Dogg (who had a lot of help in that department from Cube's old N.W.A. mate Dr. Dre) and sample master Sean "Puffy" Combs. But on War & Peace, Vol. 1, Cube's first album in five years, the hip-hop renaissance man reestablishes himself as a kingpin in the studio as well as on the street. Every song is surrounded by minor-key melodies and moody flourishes that enhance the effect of the intimidating lyrics, and the overall sound of the mix is rich and deep. Cube doesn't stop there, however, adding touches such as a No Doubt sample loop on "War and Peace" and a queasy guitar riff on "Fuck Dying," compliments of neo-metal marauders Korn. Ice Cube plans to follow up The War Disc with The Peace Disc, which he says will be mellower and more ethereal, but for now, Cube remains the hardest in the game. --Jon Wiederhorn

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Ice Cube at his worst.......2007-06-14

Ice Cube was at his best in the days of Amerikkkaz Most Wanted, Death Certificate, The Preadator and Lethal Injection. He kept it gangsta but at least he slipped you some solid gems through the music. Unfortunately this album is not even touching those albums whether in content or production. Although I understand why he had to back down, I dont understand why would he make himself a laughing stock with this album. The Good: In the song Ghetto Vet(which was also in the I Got The Hook Up soundtrack) Ice Cube talks about being paralyzed by gun violence and songs like 3 Strikes You In and Penitentiary remind you vaguely of the old school Ice Cube. The Bad: Pushin Weight was a stupid single and Mr Short Khop sucks! Greed sucked on the Gang Related soundtrack and it sucks now. Ice Cube destroys any fond memories of Once Upon A Time In The Projects with a weak sequel and Cash Over *** will have tapping the skip button with the quickness. The Ugly: Dr. Frankenstein could have been the number 1 contender for the worst song on the album until......I heard the terrible F*** Dying(featuring Korn)! The worst rock/rap infusion ever made and what was Cube thinking making songs with Korn? Limos Demos and Bimbos and X-******* are Ice Cube at his sophomoric worst but as bad as they are they are pale in comparison to the grotesque If I Was F****** You. Bottom Line: This album is a disgrace to the west coast veteran and is Ice Cube's worst album ever. The production was lame and Ice Cube kept talking about the main stuff. Dont mistake this album as Ice Cube's best and all you bay-bay kids that keep saying that he stopped making good albums after The Predator need to check yourself. Lethal Injection will still be reached for after all these years when War And Peace Vol 1 will be catching dust like it should.

5 out of 5 stars An Underrated Disc From The Father Of Gangsta Rap (4.5).......2006-09-23

Ice Cube made a very solid return to the rap game after a 5 year hiatus with his War Disc, where he promptly confronts ghetto difficulties. While doing so, he reaffirms his status as a premier rapper in the game today with hard, angry rap deliveries over some very nice beats. Ice Cube his just returned now with his latest studio album "Laugh Now, Cry Later" too which boasts some great tracks as well.

"Ask About Me" is a powerful opener, with a vibing instrumental beat and Cube spitting his lyrics strongly. "Pushin' Weight" is a good track where Cube explains how he's still holdin' it down in the game with his rhymes. "Dr. Frankenstein" is another tight track featuring Mr. Short Kop for another appearance on the album. "War and Peace" sees Ice Cube suggesting that peace is needed for all and he states "Westside for life but still down with the East". "Ghetto Vet" may be my favourite rap cut on the album where Cube takes a setting of a hospital describing a scene of contemplating suicide while near death. "Greed" is a heavy gangsta cut to follow it up, then Ice Cube moves into lyrics about money with "Cash Over A**" and "The Curse Of Money." The last few songs on this album are some of the best, which include "Extradition", a track laced with a sweet beat, "Penitentiary" and "3 Strikes You In", an aggressive cut.

Overall, this is a fairly strong rap release from Ice Cube who doesn't touch on anything political but rather spits about the hood as usual in a variety of ways. Lyrically he most often on the mark and his voice sounds mature and very strong. Recommended to any Ice Cube fan.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best from Cube........2006-03-24

Well this album might not be as good as Death Certificate or The Predator but it still is a great album from Cube. When I first heard The War disc I liked it but not alot. I finally got around to hear the album again and I started to enjoy it more. Cube takes over as producer in the war disc and he does a good job at it too. Songs like Cash Over A$$ is one of my favorite songs on the album. X-B!%@#'s is another good track from cube. I understand alot of Cube fans not likeing the album much. When you hear Amerikkas Most Wanted, Death Certificate or Predator, he talks alot about racism, struggles in the hood, and violence. In The War Disc he talks the cost's of fame and money, example: Greed, The Curse of Money, and Limos Demos and Bimbos. Also he talks about all the haters and women going out being gold diggers, example: X-B!%@#'s and Cash over A$$. Some stuff he talks about the hood and violence, like Ghetto Vet, 3 Strikes You In, Once Upon A Time In The Projects 2, and Penitentiary. I recommend this album to anyone who likes Cube or is just a big Rap fan. Get this instead of The Peace album because that album isn't Ice Cube's best work. Can't wait for the new album Laugh Now Cry Later out June 6.

4 out of 5 stars old gold.......2004-01-10

this is a pretty old compilation as of now, but i still listened to it last week. there are so many fantastic cats on this album. the first disc has body rock, one of my favorite rap songs of all time. tash, q-tip, mos def, its unbeatable. the freestyle track features thirstin howl and j-treds, and is wow, then you got wordsworth, punchline, and a lot of underground burners. the second disc is hosted by keith and menelik which is cool, but fewer strong tracks. cia is a stone cold classic, indelible mcs on track 12 is too good. get this when you get soundbombing 1

5 out of 5 stars Great job Rawkus.......2003-07-25

When i first listened to this cd i was blown away it has great beats and the lyrics are off the hook! Rawkus did a great job making this cd they bring in a mix of underground and mainstream musicians. With the classic Rawkus crew Mos Def and Talib Kweli and DJ Hi Tek as Reflection Eternal, Skillz and Pharoahe Monch. They also throw in a of the hook freestyle. But by far the song that i enjoyed the most was A.L. Lyrics on the second disc, i have never heard of him before and he just came out with some of the best lyrics i have ever heard he flows to the beat and he makes great ryhmes that blew me away i have been tryin yo find more from him but i cant find a thing he has to come up with something else. Overall i highly recommend this album, its another hit from Rawkus the number one record lable in my mind

"Much respect to Master P and West Coast Bad Boyz for successfully and effectively organizing these Bay Area cities--Richmond, San Francisco, Oaktown, Sacramento, Palo Alto, V-town, and others," intones the opening monologue to West Coast Bad Boyz, Vol. 1. More than mere tokenism, though, it cuts to the heart of the Master P project: take the cream of the talent of various heretofore unorganized local scenes and collect them on one compilation, guaranteeing each act exposure far broader than their own city limits. Bad Boyz spotlights the rolling gangster funk of Northern California, including early appearances by C-Bo and JT the Bigga Figga. The highlight, though, is Young Cellski's "Stressed Out," which uses simple yet potent key arrangements to evoke the sadness of Cellski's self-realizations. --Jon Caramanica

5 out of 5 stars Rerelease Version.......2005-11-20

Original Release - The first West Coast Bad Boyz, Anotha Level of The Game was released back in 1995 on No Limit Records/ Solar Music Group (SMG). This version has 17 tracks including: Peace 2 Da Streets which features all the West Cost Bad Boyz and Locked Up by King George. The artwork was done by Phunky Phat Graph-X. There's a blue and yellow bar down the left side of the cover with "Master P Presents The West Coast Bad Boyz" on it. The right side of the cover had the map with flames and an old school car sitting below the flames. The back of the cd has picures of all the West Coast Bad Boyz and the track listing in the upper left hand corner. Value is about $100 to $200

RERELEASE - The rerelease version of West Coast Bad Boyz came out in 1997. The cover is missing the bar with the title of the cd. Instead it had a full shot of the map with flames and car sitting below. The reverse side had the No Limit Tank with all the glittery diamonds and stars. This artwork was done by Pen and Pixel. The 1997 version was released on No Limit Records/ Priority Records. $15 to $30

The original version is a must have. Locked Up isn't very good at all, but Peace 2 Da Streets is a Bay Area Classic. I still remember the video wtih all the guest appearances. This is straight up a West Coast, California, San Francisco Bay Area Rap album. This album is what made Master P. It put his name on the Bay Area Rap Scene map and he blew up from there. Too bad he moved back to New Orleans, screwed King George and took his half of No Limit, and got rid of K-Lou who helped record, mix, and produce nearly every No Limit Album prior to 1996.

5 out of 5 stars A bay area classic.......2004-10-13

This cd came out when master p was reppin the west coast. He put all the rappers he was cool with on this cd. Being a big fan of teh bay area rap through out the 90's I loved this cd. It has pretty funky beats.I like almost every song on here.dangerous dame, jt the bigga figga, and cellski have good songs. To sum it up the album has a sound like too short,e-40, funk sound they used alot in teh early 90s. If you like bay area rap from the 90s such as too short , e-40,jt bigga figga , rbl posse this is for you.

3 out of 5 stars West Roast One.......2003-09-07

This album was mediocre, average beats, basic raps. The second is so much better.

5 out of 5 stars Underground Classic!!!!.......2002-07-03

This is the best compilation album ever made!! No Limit was first started in California when this came out. Some of their best albums were put out at this time. Master P had some beef with one of their producers King George so when they re-released this in 1997, they cut his songs off the record but regardless, this is a classic and every No Limit fan that is still a fan needs this album.

5 out of 5 stars Great Mix.......2006-09-09

If you like 80's metal then this is worth having. These 10 tracks are some of the best. There are no fillers. This is the first of three volumes, but I think this is the best one of the three. Unlike the other two volumes in this series, this one contains ZERO metal ballads. Here are the tracks:

Bang Your Head (Metal Health) - Quiet Riot: That's what this is all about.

We're Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister: Of course we're not; this was the anthem of a generation

Nothin' But A Good Time - Poison: That's what the 80's were all about.

Round And Round - Ratt: This group's best-known hit and it's worth having on here.

Big City Nights - Scorpions: When you think of the 80' you have to include a song by these guys.

Shake Me - Cinderella: I think this is their best "non-ballad" hit.

Give Me All Your Love - Whitesnake: This is what we all say to the one we love. Preach it Coverdale!

Big Talk - Warrant: A classic tough-guy anthem from the band tough enough to also bring us Cherry Pie. Ha!

Hold On To 18 - Black 'N Blue: Hearing this is a reminder of our youth (or at least mine)

Ballroom Blitz - Krokus: They covered this song and made it better.

5 out of 5 stars Magnificent Metal Collection!!!.......2005-10-12

This is by far the best single CD of '80s Heavy Metal EVER released! It not only features the best bands of the '80s, it also features their best songs. All of the top bands are here (Ratt, Poison, Quiet Riot, Scorpions) and these songs are the best they had to offer. The only changes I would have made are instead of featuring Whitesnake's Give Me All Your Love I would have included Still Of The Night. I love the fact that Big City Nights is on this instead of Rock You Like A Hurricane because Big City is a great, underrated tune. The only negative comment I can make is this collection should have at least a couple of power ballads (maybe Heavan by Warrant or Poison's Every Rose Has Its Thorn) because power ballads were a big part of the reason why '80s metal bands were so popular and successful. Also it is great that Black 'N Blue's Hold On To 18 is here because it is a great song, and they were a very underrated and talenetd band. Overall a fantastic collection and a wonderful introduction to anyone who would like to find out more about '80s Heavy Metal. Get This!!!!

5 out of 5 stars How can you go wrong with Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister.......1999-03-25

This is a very good compalation album. I would recommend this album to anyone who is sick of the crappy music of 1999.

4 out of 5 stars The music takes you away!.......1999-01-26

This compilation shows the easy going, party animal side of the 80's metal bands. If you are in the mood to do your own thing, this CD will help you relax and feel like having some fun.

What's not to like on this album? Included are one-hit-wonders, underground classics and a song that proclaims the joys of (*ahem*) touching ones self. A great mix of music that any fan of the early 90's can relate to. Don't be surprised if you discover a gem or two that you never heard of before, but after listening to you can't live without. There's not one loser in this bunch of hits!

5 out of 5 stars All Hits and No Misses on this 80's Compilation.......1998-08-24

Most 80's compilations start strong and then fade out with songs that you never heard or would never care to hear again. This disc, however, is all hits from INXS' The One Thing to Love My Way by the Psychedelic Furs to the Bangles cover of Hazy Shade of Winter. Living Color and The Church seem somewhat out of place, being late 80's entries but Cult of Personality and Under the Milky Way are great songs. The only other 80's compilation this strong that I have found is Ultimate New Wave Party on Arista Records. No songs overlap on these two discs and I would rate these two discs together over any of the overpriced TV Compilations.
