2 out of 5 stars Mixed Bag.......2005-08-19

The concept sounded good, but the end result is a rather big letdown. I am a big fan of Richard Hayman (former arranger for the Boston Pops) and expected this CD to be something special, but it's hit or miss. The Mary Poppins medley is beautiful while, on the other hand, the Snow White medley is awful. Apparently these medleys are NOT arranged by Richard Hayman, a master at his craft. I couldn't help but feel that some of these lousy arrangements would be better suited for a high school marching band. With uneven playing and several really horrible renditions of Disney medleys, I cannot recommend this CD. Anyone want to buy a used CD real cheap?

3 out of 5 stars Huh?????.......2004-10-22

I'd like to pint out that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is not a Disney Film! Other wise it was pretty good.

5 out of 5 stars Lush orchestral arrangements of Disney and Sherman favorites.......2003-04-26

Mr. Hayman was the arranger for the Boston Pops orchestra through the '60's, '70's, and '80's. Many of these arrangements are featured on the Boston Pops recording "Salute to Disney" with Arthur Fiedler. The arrangements are extensive medleys from several movies and shows. These are great arrangements and the orchestra is phenominal, making these wonderful songs perfect for singing along.

For anyone who has been searching for a recording of George M. Cohan's classic musical, this is far from a disappointment. The sound is digitally remastered, and the songs are enjoyable. One would hardly suspect the music is almost one hundred years old and the soundtrack more than forty. Besides the catchy tunes, there are insightful dialogue outtakes from the musical itself. This is a must for any Cohan fan and/or any one who has performed in a modern stage version of this "melifluous (which mean "sweetly flowing" in case you were wondering) musical merriment."

The only question is: what took them so long? It was just a matter of time before an album of moneycentric songs was assembled to complement America's favorite TV quiz show. Jack & Jemma's "I Want to Be a Millionaire" is a corny novelty dance tune, complete with Regis Philbin samples laced throughout, that's sure to be the "Pacman Fever" of this era. Thankfully, the rest of the album focuses on quality tunes from the rock era mixed with sound effects from the show. Barrett Strong's legendary Motown anthem to materialism, "Money," appropriately kicks things off. The O'Jays showcase early-1970s Gamble & Huff Philly Soul with "For the Love of Money." E.L.O., Blondie and Manhattan Transfer work over the lifeline motif with tunes about phone lines. As an added novelty, show host Regis Philbin contributes a straight-ahead interpretation of "Pennies from Heaven" that ends with Griff's "Millionaire Mix," a dance-groove take on the theme of the Millionaire TV show. --Rob O'Connor

1 out of 5 stars Not worth a nickel, let alone a million........2004-03-17

Very disappointing. Little music from the show, and a lot of re-mixed stuff which was not very entertaining. In the upside, it was cheap, so not much money wasted.

5 out of 5 stars THE SOUNDTRACK FOR THE MILLIONAIRE FAN IN ALL OF US.......2003-02-14

What makes the Who Wants To Be a Millionaire soundtrack so good?
Is it? A. The most popular music dedicated to money? B. The hit single I Wanna be a Millionaire by pop duo Jack and Jemma? C. To hear Regis Philbin actually sing and a remix of the Millionaire theme song by Remixer John Griffin? or D. All of the above?. If that is your final answer this soundtrack is for you with fun oldies and toe-tapping tunes. But you'll mainly love the soundtrack's main single the earlier mentioned I Wanna Be A Millionaire this song has always been one of my favorites since I got the soundtrack and it remains one of my favorite tracks. In between the songs are also short clips of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire's greatest moments. The Soundtrack also features our awesome TV host Regis Philbin singing his only single in 1968 Pennies From Heaven if you haven't heard him sing I strongly recommend you get this album before Regis's 1968 debut It's Time for Regis. If you are a Millionaire Fan or not get this album and pull up a chair relax and dream of money when you listen,
Enjoy,

1 out of 5 stars Rival Anne Robinson would call it..........2001-09-18

a pathetic, miserable waste of recording material. I can hear her addressing her contestants now... "Who here thought the American Who Wants To Be A Millionaire CD was worth buying?"

ALL of the songs on the disc are only related to the show in the loosest possible way. They don't evern bother to throw in a piece of the actual theme music, instead doing a ridiculous dance tune that bears very little resemblance to the theme song. I don't need to phone a friend to see that I should be instead buying the British import CD with its 78 tracks(!) of almost every musical line from the show, as well as radio and dance club mixes of the show's music. It cost me about 25 dollars, and when combined with the board game (which is wonderfully done and worth every penny if you're a fan of the game), it makes for a wild evening of entertainment. Definitely seek out the Brit CD, don't fall victim to the American disc; it's a purchase that's about as smart as missing a 100 dollar question.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but if you already have the British soundtrack..........2000-10-21

If you already have the British WWTBAM soundtrack, then you're basically paying $ for one song. This is the Chris Tarrant Mix. It's a good mix, and well worth the money, but the CD otherwise repeats the two remixes at the end of the British soundtrack. Still worth it, though, if you really love Millionaire.

5 out of 5 stars Let's Play..........2000-07-12

While ABC and Walt Disney Records put together a cheap compilation album of songs about money as the U.S. "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" soundtrack, leave it to the show's originators, Celador Productions, to give the real deal. However, this single dance remix of the show's theme, entitled "Is That Your Final Answer?" (what else?), has its own wonderful pleasures--and it's guaranteed to give you a boost when you need it, either in the radio mix, the club mix, or (on this single only) the "Chris Tarrant Mix" (in which the voice of original host Chris Tarrant says those famous words, gives suggestions for lifelines, and uses the line Regis doesn't have an equivalent for--"You have 32,000 pounds--but we don't want you to win that!"). Get this now (and while you're at it, get the import of the full soundtrack--if you're a game show fan, it's essential!).

5 out of 5 stars The best TV theme going yet!.......2000-06-26

This has all the elements of the TV show music in a dance track! It's punchy, exciting and fun. Apparently it was made in conjunction with the producers and composers (Keith & Matthew Strachan) from the show and it sounds spot on. It has some of the sounds from the TV version like "time's up" and "explain the rules". It's even got a track with vocals from the original UK host Chris Tarrant. Perfect summer stuff. Roll down your car roof and ride!

5 out of 5 stars everything but the flashing lights.......2000-06-14

Awesome CD! Not some cheesy Yamaha keyboard interpretation of the theme. It's nearly exactly what you hear on the show, with a stronger drum beat and stronger bass line thrown in, as well as a few sound effects from the show (i.e. "out of time" sound, "onto the next question, blue lights go down" sound, last bit of the "here comes the fastest finger question" sound, etc.). The club mix is simply an extended version of the radio mix. But I'll bet this release will inspire other club remixers to have their way with the song. The Chris Tennant version is nearly identical to the radio mix, with some of his spoken vocals thrown in ("is that your final answer," "you could take the 50/50," "you could ask the audience," "are you sure," etc.). Will there be a U.S. release soon with Regis vocals? The English know how to do it the right way. This CD is a must have! Great for listening in your car while speeding down perilous, dangerous roads!

5 out of 5 stars INTENSE! WILD! CELADOR DOES IT AGAIN!.......2000-05-30

It has been a long time since a piece of music got under my skin like the 3 tracks on this single did! Not only do you have the suspenseful and intense feeling that the theme provides, the hot beat put along with it just takes you away! You should see the looks I get while stopped at a busy intersection while playing this CD in the car. This CD is a must-have for fans of the show!

1 out of 5 stars Someone make the BAD MAN stop.......2000-08-01

As if ABC has to air this show almost every day of the week... does that mean we'll now have to endure this on the RADIO.

There hasn't been a CHEEZIER attempt at cashing in on a blind lemming trend since the dreadful "PAC MAN FEVER".

And if I have to attend a WEDDING that plays this slosh, I'll walk out.

4 out of 5 stars A New Song For Rosie O'Donnell For Sure!.......2000-07-19

I think the CD is OK. I really think that Rosie O'Donnell should recieve a free copy of the song since she is the biggest fan of the show, " Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" She already has there current theme song. They should stick with the current theme song they have, but this tune makes me want to watch their show more(Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?) because it is so catchy. Great song! A must for anyone who loves the show, "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" or even dreams about being on the show and becoming a Millionaire.

This song is amazing. I heard it on the radio and wanted to buy it so badly! Jack and Jemma are going to be the next big thing! The song is so catchy that it was in my head all day long. This song should definitely be on the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" show.

    Album Description

Superb second album from English hitmakers includes nine songs that further demonstrate the innovation and creativity flowing from Lovejoy headquarters. The album bends the Lovejoy template ever so slightly to encompass a bit more electronica (think New Order or the Wake) and even a song that will make you get up and dance like you just don't care. The album also features a new version of the Biff Bang Pow! classic "The Beat Hotel" with drums and electric guitars and other sparkly magic only possible in Lovejoy studios. A polished mix of guitars, keyboards, percussion and excellent harmonies, this is quite possibly the band's strongest release to date and perfect for fans of Blueboy, Revolving Paint Dream, or House of Love.

The fact that they put "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" in the song with Regis Philbin in the song appeals to me. The rap portion needs improvement, and song is too repetitive. Overall, I like the beat of the song, and the song is very catchy, so I would recommend this CD to others.

This is a must have if you ever want to re-create the experience of this game show in your own home. Question music for all questions are here, plus lifeline music, along with right and wrong answer cues for the last ten questions. About the only things missing are right and wrong answer cues for the first five questions (it does have the milestone music for making it past Question 5). Even music for the "Fastest Finger" qualifying question is included. In addition, there are intro and outro cues (for going into and out of commercial breaks), the "time's up" horn (to end the show) and two dance mixes (track 75, BTW, is what is used at the "WWTBAM - Play It!" studio at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida). A must for any fan of the show, or any fan of game shows in general.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent, but hard to find.......2003-08-09

Great quality - very unusual to have all the real sound tracks to a show on a CD. ABC's version rearranges a few of the pieces, but pretty much all the same.

Great if you can find it.

5 out of 5 stars "My Final Answer Is...".......2001-01-19

I just received the CD today and really listening very carefully to the music. With it, most people are able to hear more details of the score than you do on the actual show. I am very impressed on how the music all blends together in making the show the success it is.

Composed, produced and performed by Kevin Strachan and Matthew Strachan (except for the last two tracks), it is very wonderfully done. The last two tracks, 'Radio Edit' and 'Club Mix', are also beautifully blended together, even putting in the whistle that you hear at the end of the show. I definitely remember our USA host, Regis Philbin, on the first night hosting the show (August, 1999), saying that this music "got on (his) nerves". I have a feeling he has gotten quite used to it, as have millions of fans. Even more surprising is that to this reviewer, the music does not wear you out. The suspense of the show does that on its own! :-)

Regis is a great host, and having UK's own "Millionaire" host, Chris Tarrant, as one of his guests on his daily talk show was quite a treat.

I would not want to be the one to hear Track 61, if I were in the 'hot seat'! Also, included in this set are eight (8) sets of questions that you can play right in your home from the UK version. I was only able to answer one or two of the 100-pound questions. How many could you answer with only three lifelines?
