Just when you thought things couldn't get any sudsier, Ireland sends us their entry for the never-ending Teen Pop Summit that seems to be holding the charts hostage. Marketed as Celtic Spice Girls, B*witched are actually a G-rated version, complete with voices so light and sweet you can barely hear them through the whistles, dance beats, and faux guitar solos that litter this debut. There's a bit of everything here: echoes of Jackson 5 ("Rev It Up"), the intro from "Venus" ("Freak Out"), and song titles straight out of the '50s ("Oh Mr. Postman"). More frothy than their male counterparts, but harder to swallow, B*witched come off like giddy kids-television hosts. The earnest ballad "Castles in the Air" is perhaps the only track that won't offend older (read: 15 and up) ears, but the teenyboppers will love the whole disc. --Rebecca Wallwork

4 out of 5 stars One of My First Albums.......2007-07-10

It was in 90's when I was interested in Spice Girls and other girl bands. Spice Girls was my number one girl band but B*Witched was in the second place. This album is very positive, it has a lot of girl pop energy. Most of the people have heard the songs "C'est La Vie", "Rollercoaster", and "Blame It on the Weatherman" because they were played in radios very often. This album is great, and will remain in top10 girl band pop albums of all time, at least in my list. This is their best album...it makes me happy!

What can I say? I LOVE pop! A lot of reviews refer to this group as "cute." I won't argue with that, but those reviews are probably from a source not used to pop, which is typically as cute. Nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to the theme of this group. Other than that, they will dazzle you with their talent. I know that practice makes perfect, and it is really something to hear such great songs sung with such confidence and tone...
When I sampled this CD, the intro is, of course, an instrumental. It sounds a bit Celtic. Now you can never judge a book by its cover, and CD albums are no exception. I've found bright and eye-catching album covers to contain very mature...or OK, BORING... music. So, I'm always skeptical until proven wrong, when it comes to searching for a new album to delve into. When I listened to the intro, I thought, "My that was incredibly UNinteresting..." but I gave it another chance with track two, and the CD turned out to be just what I always look for! "C'est la Vie" is as pop as it gets, but my favorite is "To You I Belong." This group is similar to The Corrs in how a lot of their songs have a traditional "Irish" sound, but a pop beat and tempo. Beautiful mix! My parents are quite conservative. They've given up on the music industry. They were into `80s, but lost interest after that. Now they've gotten into lyric-less jazz albums, like Kenny G and whatnot. They're reasoning is that they don't want to be told what a song is about, and without lyrics, they can conjur that for themselves. To me, vocals are too dynamic to leave out of a song. I am all too eager to appreciate a good singer, or a great singer, or a great singer singing a GREAT song. The latter is where this CD falls. It is most unusual for a CD to stay strong through all of the tracks. This is another. Track 7 starts with a kind of chant, and a heavy and slow drum beat in the background, then the chorus goes into a hardrock guitar riff. You would think that it wouldn't fit for a group like this, but no matter how playful a parody of hard rock it tries to be, it actually turns out really, really well. It could've bombed since it's so risky, but it actually turns out perfect. A mighty song with lyrics that fit it, "We four girls are here to stay!" This album came out right when I started to listen to music, in 1999, I didn't know about it until now, and my "progress" in what I've listened to has been very slow, but I can't help but wonder how I didn't notice this group back then...

I saw this group perform on the Disney Channel years ago and immediately went and bought their album. The music is great and it just picks you up and is fun and happy. Also has an irish twist to some songs, so enjoy. :)

It doesn't matter what's their reviews about B-witched debut album up there. The thing is this album is great as far as the message/s of each & every song. All songs are put together not just because they want to make an album but created to relay important messages, for all the music lovers out there like me thru this album and they did a pretty good job.
I recommend a must to buy if you want to include a quality album in your cd collection, it's worth every penny.

Even more than the Spice Girls, the four-woman Irish act B*Witched is an all-things-to-most-people proposition. Awake and Breathe, the second album by these U.K.-chart conquerors, doesn't make concessions to the American pop market, but these 13 tracks do contain their share of potential stateside hits: the Sheryl Crow-like "If It Don't Fit," the straight-shooting Spice-esque "Shy One," the Crystal Waters-style house "My Superman." A broad spectrum of comparisons for one album? Put it down as much to healthy eclecticism as mercenary concerns. Still, Awake's occasional big statement seems more forced than necessary: Ladysmith Black Mambazo's appearance on the would-be anthem "I Shall Be There" is more a nod to their own recent bestselling status in Great Britain than any desire for real connection between the two groups. But while hardly a classic, the best of Awake will please fans of heartfelt mainstream pop. --Rickey Wright

I LOVE IT SOOOO MUCH AND I LISTEN TO IT EVERYDAY WITH MY SISTER! WE SING TO IT AND I LOVE T WRITE SONGS SO I WRITE THESE SONGS AND MAKE MY OWN WORDS TO IT! THEN I SING THEM! I TOTALLY RECOMEND THE CD AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, I THINK YOU ARE TOTALLY CRAZY, HEY, BUT THATS MY OPINION! AUDIOS! GOOD BYE! ARVWAR!

5 out of 5 stars If you don't like it, you're crazy.......2004-04-22

Besides being one of the best groups of all time, B*witched put out this amazing second album and completly blew my socks off. Every song either was really fun (If it don't fit, Superman) or spoke volumes (Are you a ghost?, It was our day, Leaves). They were hailed by a lot of people as just another girl group, but I really think they were a lot more. If the label would have kept them, they could have put out a lot more great stuff. This album contains something for every listener. (and i still haven't found my socks) :)

5 out of 5 stars Another pure pop wonder for this group!.......2004-01-16

I was first introduced to B'Witched when my friend bought their single for "Ce'st La Vi". After getting it permanently stuck in my head, I went out and bought their album, and I loved it! then I heard the ladies had a second album, so of course I had to try it out. And boy am I glad I did! They have everything on this disc, from sassysongs like "Shy One", energetic diddies like "Superman", and sweet, sometimes haunting, ballads like "Are You a Ghost?". My personal fave is the mid-tempo number "Someday". It's perfect to blast on a happy, sunny summer day. B'Witched, in my opinion, is a sadly overlooked group that needs more attention!

5 out of 5 stars Better than their first album!!!.......2003-12-16

I think there is a good comparison between this album and 98*'s "98* & Rising" album:

01 If It Don't Fit--Reminds me of one of the WB dramedy shows, but not my favorite. 7/10

02 Jesse Hold On--It's like Sting's "All This Time", but it's also like located near the Appalachian Mountains. 8/10

03 I Shall Be There--A wedding march song!!! It's like a combination of 98*'s "I Do" and Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes". 10/10

04 Jump Down--It's like travelling through daytime New York City, but #1 song of this album. 10/10

05 Someday--Medieval times and it's a theme of "Alice In Wonderland". 9/10

06 Leaves--Travel through the farmlands of Northeastern United States area with this track. 9/10

07 The Shy One--Tough song, but something to reflex on. 9/10

08 Red Indian Girl--Walking through Southwestern areas. 9/10

09 It Was Our Day--A beautiful country song. 9/10

10 My Superman--Disco through daytime New York City, but not my favorite. 7/10

11 Are You A Ghost?--A haunted ballad, but should have been released on radio. 9/10

12 In Field Where We Lay--Acapella, like Boyz II Men's "Yesterday", 98*'s "She's Out Of My Life", Robyn's "I Wish", and N'Sync's "I Thought She Knew". Wish the college girls can do that in their own college. 8/10

13 Blame It On the Weatherman--Orchestra version of the first album's track, to close this second album. 9/10

5 out of 5 stars Awake and buy it!!!.......2003-07-20

B-Witched was always one of my favorite groups. Their first cd, which you REALLY should get if you dont have it yet, had powerful lyrics. when i listen to them, i wonder how anyone on earth could hate them. Anyhoo-//awake and breathe\\ is just as good if not better! Edele and Keavy's voices are so beautiful and unique-they really have some of the best voices out there. And Lindsay and Sinead have perfect harmony~! This cd has a little more slow songs on it than the first one. But the fast songs will make you dance all nite-i really have before. The words they sing are beuatiful and anyone on earth with even a little bit of taste will love this cd, i promise!!

Favorite Song: Shy One or Are You A Ghost?

5 out of 5 stars This B*witched Maxi CD Single is Great!.......2000-09-02

This CD is awesome! It lets B*witched fans listen to one of their most famous songs, and also lets you hear unreleased songs. Get Happy, is a very cheerful song, and if your down in the dumps, this will cheer you up in a jiffy! The Remixes of Cest La Vie are amazing! The B*witched Quiz Show is very cool and includes a message said by B*witched to their fans. The Cd also includes snipplets to some of thier songs from their debut album. If your a B*witched fan or even if your not, purchase this CD and you will definetly love it!

5 out of 5 stars I love B*Witched and this single is Great!.......1999-10-10

B*Witched are the best group around and this single has some great up beat mixes of C'est La Vie, very fun to do kickboxing to! And I love Get Happy!

5 out of 5 stars Great remixes. Get Happy is one of their best songs........1999-09-25

If you loved C'est La Vie, you'll love the C'est La Vie remixes. Also, Get Happy is one of my favorite B*Witched songs. I love getting CD singles that have bonus tracks. It's so cool. If you're a B*Witched fan, buy this CD, you won't be disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars An OK song with some great remixes.......1999-08-09

"C'est La Vie" is, without a doubt, the catchiest song on B*Witched's debut disc. What makes this single worthwhile are the remixes by K-Klass and Skynet. The song is plenty energetic, but the remixes just up the level a few notches.

"Get Happy" is a decent b-side, although the opening line "Don't be a brontosaurus..." is kind of silly. Speaking of silly, what is the point of the "B*Witched Game Show"? Just ignore these throwaway tracks and listen to the two superb remixes.

5 out of 5 stars B*witched biggest fan Grainne Kelly.......1999-07-05

B*witched are the best band in the world. All there songs are cool and I hope they all go to number one.My favourite song is To you I belong but all the rest are cool too.I like B*witched and I like there denim too

5 out of 5 stars It's cute!.......2001-04-10

I bought this cd because "Does Your Mother Know" by ABBA is one of my favorite songs. It's a very good new version actually. Except they changed the word "chick" to "guy" and "girl" to "boy". Anyway, I also heard "Mickey" by Toni Basil and it sounds pretty much the same. It's not a bad thing because it was still pretty good. The new version of "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry is pretty funny and it has some rap on it. The live versions of "C'est La Vie", "Rollercoaster", and "Jesse Hold On" sound pretty good also...

5 out of 5 stars * The Best Ever! *.......2000-09-03

The best and most interesting sounding CD ever released by B*Witched! I love them! Let me tell you... buy it from here! It's a lot more expensive at Wal-Mart. This Cd includes an awesome upbeat version of "Hey Mickey!" Then it's a funky tune with "Play that Funky Music, white boy!" Then it's a classic hit "Does your mother know?" These are all great songs.. And if that's not enough, there are three live versions of "Jesse Hold On", "Rollercoaster" and the sond that got things started, "Ces't la Vie!" Buy this now!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Best CD Ever!.......2000-07-29

This is the best single from B*Witched! I absolutely loved it! It's a completely different sound for them and it's great! I've never heard anything better!

5 out of 5 stars Great song!!!.......1999-09-10

I just got this in the mail today and I have listened to it all day long!!! At first, I only liked C'est La Vie from thier real album, so I only bought the single. Then my friend recently bought the whole album, and I instantly fell in love with this song!!! I bought this CD the next day. I love it!!!

5 out of 5 stars lowered expectations.......1999-08-23

it's a catchy song, that i was bombarded by the trailers they play at blockbuster. it's no symphony, but if all you want is a simple, albeit unoriginal tune, there you have it.
