Editorial Reviews

Neile Graham - The Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music, September 1999
"The Turing Event" is one of those rare sophomore recordings that equals or perhaps even exceeds an amazing debut. On this disc Rebecca Timmons' rich, raspy voice sometimes croons and other times knocks you out with its power. The songwriting is equally strong-ranging from lovely soothing/haunting ballads to full-out grabbing rockers, not neglecting the kinds of pop hooks that keep a song ringing in your head but inventive enough that the songs don't wear out their welcome there. This album, like the first, is beautiful, fierce, inventive, and highly recommended.

Product Description
The second album from this Canadian singer and songwriter; A concept album touching on themes of man's relationship to technology in the twentieth century. Musically, a weave of moody, sparkling guitar and piano driven by an incomparable rhythm section, all supporting Rebecca's hugely dynamic, other-worldly singing voice. Lyrically, a challenging and surprising expression of her unique vision. Rich musical textures from a wide range of influences, beautiful backing vocals, a rare treat for the senses. For style comparisons, imagine a blend of Sarah McLachlan, Loreena McKennit and early Kate Bush. A true "headphones" album!
