From the first track to the last,
Teen Spirit is pure, delicious teen pop. Unlike American pubescent stars, the A*Teens have no funky ambitions and nothing to prove. Each cut is more infectious than the last, pulling you out of your skepticism by compelling your feet to move and your butt to shake in time to the catchy beat. Also unlike many of their American counterparts, the A*Teens' voices are strong enough to carry the tunes. You won't get frightened off by Aguilera-inspired histrionics or Spears-esque growling and grunting. These kids sing with age-appropriate lyrics and a distinct lack of bumping and grinding.
Teen Spirit breaks no new ground, but the uniform "goodness" of the kids--pictured playing with makeup (girls) and playing outside (boys)--makes you want to root for them and, ultimately, makes you want to own the disc.

Product Description
Heavy Metal or Heavy Mellow? What if Slash, Kirk Hammet, or Richie Sambora learned the piano instead of guitar? It would have sounded something like this... Pianist Scott D. Davis reveals his rock roots with his latest CD "Rockfluence", performing some of his favorite rock songs, guitar solos and all, with nothing but a solo grand piano. Includes songs originally recorded by Guns 'N' Roses, The Eagles, Evanescence, Metallica, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Linkin Park, Bon Jovi, Journey, Europe, Billy Idol, and one Scott D. Davis original.

A Perfect Blend of Piano Solo and Rock-N-Roll.......2006-06-30
Scott's music is soothing as well as entertaining, emotional as well as inspiring, gentle as well as invigorating. You have to listen to it to catch the blend and beauty of his work.
Fabulous!.......2006-02-20
I just purchased this CD today, and song after song I just smile and think "this is so beautiful", and it's mostly original hard rock songs, it's like an oxymoron but it is wonderful. My 7 year old daughter doesn't know the songs originally, and she kept saying how the songs were bringing tears to her eyes. I got this CD after hearing him at the Galleria Mall in Roseville, Ca. because it was so awe inspiring as he played. I wanted to share it with my family, especially my 5 year old who can play music on the piano from ear, which aparently is how Scott started playing himself, and I wanted his music to be an influence to her. He is a true inspiration. Thank you, Scott, for sharing your talent with us.
from Solo Piano Publications.......2006-02-07
Pianist/composer Scott D. Davis has been referred to as "the rocker of new age/contemporary classical music" for a couple of years now. When fellow pianist/composer David Nevue introduced Davis as such at a Whisperings Solo Piano Radio concert something resonated within him. He had been urged for years to record an album of recognizable cover music, but he resisted, preferring to record his own original material. Somehow, Nevue's introduction freed Davis to return to the music that helped shape his energetic performing style and to create solo piano arrangements of some of his favorites. It's a wide-ranging collection spanning thirty-two years of rock and metal music from 1971's "Stairway to Heaven" (Led Zeppelin) to 2003's "My Immortal" (Evanescence). Davis stays true to the spirit of the originals, and yet makes them his own. Actually, there is one piece on the album that is newer than 2003 - Davis' own "Scherzo." Most of the twelve tracks are intense and rather dark - no bubble-gum teeny-bopper stuff here - so it's obviously geared for a more mature audience. Even though I can remember just some of the words to the oldies that I grew up with and wasn't familiar with the more recent hits, I thoroughly enjoy this album. There should be at least one song here that just about anyone can say, "Oooh! I love that song!"
"Rockfluence" opens with "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses, a song full of rock-style tenderness and love. "Hotel California" is given a full almost-eight minute treatment that is very true to the original. "My Immortal" by Evanescence is a quieter slow-dance ballad that Davis fills with passion. "Nothing Else Matters" from Metallica is dark and very intense - a beautiful arrangement! I couldn't quite imagine "Stairway to Heaven" as a piano solo, but it works well! I really like the mystery and drive of "Wanted Dead or Alive" from Bon Jovi. "Open Arms" from Journey is one of my favorite songs from the early `80's, and Davis keeps it warm and loving - also a great arrangement! Another favorite is Europe's "The Final Countdown," a powerful, emotionally charged song with a gorgeous melody. Billy Idol's "White Wedding" really rocks, leading up to the closing track, Davis' own "Scherzo," a musical term that means "joke." I first heard this impressive piece in a live setting, and it really makes people sit up and take notice! Davis' fingers fly all over the piano with the various themes of the piece, which range from slow and almost sedate to a wild and crazy romp that makes me think of chase scenes in old movies. "Scherzo" clearly demonstrates Scott Davis' playing chops as well as his musical sense of humor. Fun!
"Rockfluence" is truly a musical good time, showing what these rock classics sound like stripped down to one instrument and no vocals. Good stuff!

Different Perspective.......2006-07-13
Vitamin records has been releasing these cd's like wild fires, just spreading orchestral music to the lesser audience of it. This cd will give you the rock music that originally started this who phenomenon (apocalyptica).
This cd is great for anyone interested in hearing the depth of a music genre. Typically when you hear a rock song, you dont hear really how the singer is supposed to influence the musical sense of the songs, but when the singer's role is put into a more balanced/equal role with the rest of the musicians, it contributes so much more to the musicality of the song. It is great for beginner musicians to understand that the singer has to be in tune with the band because he is added depth to the music, not just vocals. College music majors might also get a kick out of this album as it widens your music perspective.
These cds from vitamin really show how rock is the next evolution to classical music, it shows that although lyrics were originally added, the artists used the basic form of classical music to write songs. They all contain a theme that is repeated in the music, and most offer a "waltz" part to the song, as well as a lyrical bridge.
Good cd for every so often to change you from the norm. really neat to switch out the lyrics every so often with some classical music. Enjoy it!
Not Much To Warrant Repeated Listenings.......2005-01-30
Over the past five years, Vitamin Records has released more than fifty of these String Quartet Tribute albums. They have run the gamut from Metallica to Clay Aiken to Alison Krauss to their most recent tribute to 2Pac. This sampler focuses primarily on alternative/heavy metal/grunge artists. So what you get is a collection of songs made famous by Staind ("It's Been Awhile"), Linkin Park ("In the End") and Korn ("Freak on a Leash").
This album (and all of the others) veers awfully close to novelty status. On first listen, it's a real charge to hear teen angst anthems like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" transformed into sedate chamber music. But it doesn't really warrant repeated listenings. The main problem is that after a few songs, they all tend to sound alike. Twenty years ago, the Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet would include a Jimi Hendrix composition in live performances and the occasional recording, but they had the sense to know that this wouldn't work over the course of an entire album.
And the idea of juxtaposing classical instruments with popular music goes back even farther. In the sixties, the Hollyridge Strings released a series of albums performing the works of the Beatles, Elvis and the Beach Boys. Bottom line? This album will force you to hear these songs in a new way and might get a laugh or two if you slip it into the CD player at your next party, but there's little here to make you come back after you've heard it once. But at $6.98, it's an inexpensive gag gift for the alternative music fan in your life. [Running Time - 50:37]

the bonus track is a wonderful song sang by marie serneholt and sara lumholdt called "don't even know your name".
i think this cd has a lot of variety but corny cheesy beats that you just can't help but sing and dance to. i loves it.
teen spirit.......2006-07-17
The teens' second album. This time they're singung their own songs. Only one song i know they remake and that is Sugar rush original by Dream Street. I think A-Teens do a much better job at singing it than DS.

The A*TEENS sophomore CD is definitely my favorite out of all the albums they have released. I love almost all of the songs on here.
My favorite tracks:
* Bouncing off the Ceiling will keep you bouncing because of the great beat.
* Halfway Around the World is my overall favorite with its head-bopping beat.
* Sugar Rush is a song with a nice beat and lyrics.

STRINGS DIPPED IN PERFUME.......2006-06-29
I love this album. They should make a movie based on the book PERFUME and call it SCENTLESS APPRENTICE and then they should use the music from the CD as the basis for the movie soundtrack. I could imagine writers of fantansy or medieval stories might find this music inspiring to listen to while they write.
The transition is painless.......2006-02-12
I'd recommend this for any rock fan, even those who haven't heard Nirvana. (You probably have and just didn't know who it was.) Nirvana's artistic genius truly shows through this string quartet. Although I'm not ecstatic about Tom Tally's cover of "Something in the Way" it's not something I don't enjoy listening to. Todd Mark Rubenstein, however, does a fantastic job interpreting Nirvana. Or any band I've heard him do so far.
Although at first you may be put off by the idea of hearing your favorite rock in string quartet form, this CD should dispell any doubts. When done well, a string quartet tribute is at least as - if not more - valuable than the original.
Something different from your usual Nirvana.......2005-03-29
I heard this CD played in my friends car, and even though it was just some violins, I enjoyed it alot. I asked who it was, and they said "Nirvana". I was surprised, and looked around online to see that it was something called a String-Tribute. This is an awesome CD, with songs like Rape Me, Come As You Are, and Smells Like Teen Spirit remade with that orchastral feel to it. It's different, but in a good way. If you're not into this kind of thing, well, neither was I.
Something different.......2005-03-04
I have listened to many of the SQTs but this one is one of my faves. The renditions of Polly, Rape Me, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, and All Apologies are interesting, but the rest are just decent. One of my rules of buying a CD is if they have three songs you like then it is permissible to buy the CD. The people who impulse-buy b/c of a hit song like "The Macarena" are total numb-nuts. But that's my opinion. But for Nirvana fans I hioghly suggest this is you want to hear Nirvana transposed into orchestra.
well put together.......2005-03-04
I listen to nirvana frequently and when i heard this randistion of it i was pretty impresses. You can expect a band like nirvana to be well translated into instrumental. Or at least there more laid back songs. All in all i recomend this to anyone who would like to try somthing different. I thought it was well put together

It must have been the neighbors that called lookout records to get these bands out of their neigborhoods.Who forgot to hide the garage door opener?Ifyou get a couple of garbage can lids andscream alot you might be able to get signed by lookout records too.Out of all the bands on this cd there were a few that show promise, the grovie ghoulies, squirtgun and the queers. So as warning to those who might buy this cd lookout lead doesn't bounce.

I will agree with other reviews by saying this is very fun to listen to and it is very relaxing. Also I like listening to music while working but the singing always distracts me, this is perfect and I recommend any of the string quartet tribute albums because they are done very truthfully and with a nice tempo.
Search for your favourite band you might find a tribute, seriously they even did Slayer!!!
Pretty Cool.......2006-01-09
This isn't for those who like Nirvana solely for "Teen Spirit" and all that junk... My girlfriend laughs at me because I like to play this in my car, but really, it's quite different and very fun to hear the classic Nevermind performed in this way. A good aspect of it is that I can listen to Nirvana while studying... it helps me because there's no words in it whatsoever... i dont know... anyway, pick this up if youre a Nirvana fan... pretty cool and very worthwhile!! :)

Even in His Youth.......2007-05-28
I have never been a Nirvana fan, so this is not a bias review. I grew up listening to the mellower end of alternative (Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Cure, etc.) so the "Nevermind" album never did anything for me.
My sister bought this single back in 91, and after I heard the b-side "Even in His Youth" I was blown away and had to own it. It's a heavy rocker with a catchy melody. The rest of the songs on the disc are disposable. Get this single for "Even in His Youth". You won't be disappointed.
Even in his youth + Smells like teen spirit + Aneurysm = THE BEST.......2006-04-25
Let me start off by saying, I am a die-hard Nirvana fan like most of you (you must be if your looking at their singles). This CD contains 4 of THE BEST Nirvana songs, they are pure musical genius. I have run across these songs and they are, dare I say, my favorite Nirvana songs. To find that they are all on one single, wow. Every day I regret being only 352 days old when this CD came out. I was born 10 or 15 years too late. If you are tinking of buying this, JUST DO IT! You can only find "Even In His Youth" on the Hormoaning EP from Australia for $10 and up, IF YOU'RE LUCKY. Aneurysm, well, it simply OWNS. You'll see what I mean when you buy it, and you know you will buy it. Because I said so.
if he didn't have a gun....how did he shoot himself?.......2006-03-31
If this is not THE most over rated CD ever, then it is certainly a contender for the title. If it wasn't for Cobain's suicide, no one would care about Nirvana today. But, just like Jim Morrison has kept the Doors on the "cult following" list, Cobain's death will keep everyone wanna-be emo child wistful of shooting themselves.
As for the music, I could only say that shooting yourself doesn't make someone a "great writer" or a "great musician" and Nirvana proves this though and though. On this particular CD, Cobain mumbles his way though at least 1/3 of the lyrics while making absolutely no sense during the other 2/3 that are intelligible. In one particular song he outright lies when he sings the lyrics "no, I don't have a gun"...and I think we all know now that he in fact did have a gun.
Mmmmmm, Smells Good!!!.......2005-08-22
Theres one word I have to sum up this single - 'classic'. You gotta have it if you're into this kinda music!!!
Wow this is unparalleled.......2005-08-06
Short and sweet - this is a great single. One of the best ever, probably. Teen Spirit was a teenage anthem with good reason, it had amazing sound, the supreme rocking riff, deep relatable lyrics, and passion. Following Teen Spirit is another one of Nirvana's best works ever Even In His Youth. Kurt wrote pain songs like other people would write love songs, and they're incredible. I can't imagine why Even In His Youth isn't on the greatest hits album, it has the same passion as YKYR and the same groove as Floyd the Barber. After that is Aneurysm, I think the live version is a bit better but it's still a great Nirvana song with brilliant vocal yelling.
Nirvana's got tons of worth while material and this is one part of it.

A*teens forever.......2007-04-22
This is a really good cd with no abba covers but never the less 13 amazing songs:
Bouncing on the ceiling/ catchy, fun pop, and good vocals also the main single off the album
Halfway arounf the world/ is great and really proves that this isn't a one hit album
Sugar Rush/ a great, but slower song it is nicely put together and very sweet it is a good song
Back For More/ i would have to say a really good song and maybe better than some of the singles off this album
For all that I am/ a good beat and some good vocals and it proves that the group is reaching different genres of music and i love it
All my love/ probally the worst song on the album but still very good but it isn't nearly as catchy as the others
Slammin kinda love/ very good in that it really goes to different places when you listen to it
Rockin'/ i'd say probally the best song on the cd, it is so catchy and sort of darker than the others, a five star song
...To the music/ summer kind of feeling to it a good party song
Thats what its all about/ another example of under knowledgement it is a very good song and may be better than singles
Firefly/ a extremeley good ballad
Around the corner of your eye/ the better of the two ballads because it is so touching and heart felt
A Bubbling Explosion of Pop.......2002-01-21
Probably one of the most perfectly crafted, pre-packaged pop groups ever conceived, Sweden's A*Teens came onto the scene with their danceably fun remakes of ABBA songs. So when their sophomore effort, "Teen Spirit", was released, I had an honest curiosity to find out if their ABBA-cover-free record would be at all worth the hefty import cost. As it turns out, "Teen Spirit" is one of the best pop albums I have ever found. It is intensely enjoyable from beginning to end. The teens (Dhani, Sara, Amit and Marie) are beyond-attractive with voices that perfectly capture the innocent appeal of this music. Recorded in the magical stuidos of Sweden, the A*Teens have a Britney Spears/N*SYNC/Steps/ABBA- type sound that is sweet and sugary, but danceble at the same time. UPSIDE DOWN(#1)is the probably the best-known of their songs after all of the play it has garnered on RadioDisney and moderate chart success in the U.S. It is also one of the best songs on this album. It is a great song that really captures a fun, energetic feeling. HALFWAY AROUND THE WORLD(#3)is another great song. This is a song that reminds me a lot of the group Steps. It is a dance song about being in love with the person you can't be with. All the teens sound great on this track, but what is especially fun is that the often allusive Dhani and Amit have a nice solo part on this one. Plus, the accompanying video is by far the best one from the A*Teens. FOR ALL THAT I AM(#10)is a vintage Max Martin-sounding pop track(Martin is the Swedish mastermind behing acts such as the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Sweden's E-Type, among many others). It is catchy and filled with sugary-sweet lyrics, but has an undeniable addictive quality. Same goes for BACK FOR MORE(#13), the final track. Once you hear it, it won't leave your head....just ignore the silly pointless lyrics. The girls sound amazing, and the beats are bubblegum-sticky-sweet. The track that really stands out among all the other tracks for me, though, is ROCKIN'(#6). I can't explain this song, except to say that it is "rockin'". It will really catch you off-guard as it is different from any of the other songs. It is harder-edged, but still pop-friendly with the all-too familiar sounds of a Swedish production. "Teen Spirit" is a must-have for pop fans. There is a little something on it for everyone who has ever loved this type of music. What is it with Sweden?? There is something incredibly appealing about music written and produced in that country. This album will not disappoint. It is absolutely brilliant and just fun!
Teen Spirit By A-Teens.......2001-03-05
Well , Upside Down is one of the best songs on the album. ...To The Music makes me move my body alot. Halfway Around The World is a Song with a good meaning to it. Firefly really shows off Marie and Sara's voice. Sugar Rush is okay but I don't really like it. Rockin' kept me Rockin' all day long. Around The Corner Of Your Eye is a really beautiful song. Slammin Kinda Love is so cool it makes me dance everytime I hear it. All My Love I Think is the worst song on the album. For All That I Am is Kinda boring. That's What (It's All About) in the beginning kinda sounds like It's Gonna Be Me. Morning Light not really that great. Back For More is one of the best songs on the album.

This cd is Great!!!.......2001-03-05
I love this album. It reminds me so much of the types of songs Abba would sing but with an A-teens twist. There is a versatile group of songs on the album. Pop, rock, r&b. Buy this CD!!

If u r true Nirvana fan u will buy this!.......2004-12-18
this is a great single, b/c of the gem even in his youth. As u all now noe smells like teen spirit is a great song, but this version of anyerysm rocks it is differnent from incestide. Now if ur not a hardcore nirvana fan dont get htis get the studio albums!
Nirvana will never fade away..........2004-10-24
Seriously. This song and this band in general have the timeless talent that hadn't been seen since DARK SIDE OF THE MOON and PHYSICAL GRAFFITI. Well actually millions more remember those albums more than this single, if they evn know this single exists. This is not Nirvanas best single, that would be 'Heart-Shaped Box', but it still is at either #2 or #3. This is the song that opened the doors for me, if it wasn't for Nirvana then I wouldn't have been a rock fan. I owe so much to Kurt and the band and they will always be my #1 favorite band, not even 80's Metallica or Led Zeppelin can beat them. This is a great single with very good b-sides, if you are lucky enough to come across this single then buy it without delay, becuase chances are it wont be available later...
It's a single and I still bought it.......2004-08-10
I'll start off by saying that I don't buy singles mainly because you can hear the track on the actual album, but this one's too good to pass up. "Smells like Teen Spirit" is the best song ever and "Even in his Youth" and "Aneurysm" (not the Incesticide version) are great songs as well. If you are a huge Nirvana fan (like me) then buy the single even if you already have Nevermind because this a must have for any fan.
Never Fade Away..........2003-11-25
If you get any single by Nirvana, this should be the one. It includes 3 groundbreaking songs: "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Even In His Youth", and "Aneurysm"(not the Incesticide version). This single is worth your bucks and the two unreleased songs will suprise you. This single shows that Nirvana will never truly fade away...
excellent.......2003-03-04
smells like teen spirit has to be one of the greatses songs ever written and nirvana are, to me, the beatles for my generation but better. this ep has three songs. SLTS, even in his youth and aneuryism. even in his youth is a great song that is straight on rock. if you have not heard aneuryism then your missing out. it is dynamic and rocking full of everything we love about nirvana.
