About the Artist
Yarbrough & Peoples has been a "house hold" name since 1981, when "Don't Stop the Music" was # 1 on the R&B charts for several weeks, and nominated for a Grammy Award.
Discovered by Charlie Wilson of the GAP Band, and signed to the Total Experience Production Company by Lonnie Simmons, their first album, on the Mercury label - "The Two of Us", was also a milestone in Cavin and Alisa's writing careers (having wrote/co-wrote five of the nine songs on that album including "Don't Stop the Music") They went on to have five (5) singles in the top twenty position on the music charts.
That success led to a wonderful relationship with television shows including several Dick Clark Productions (i.e. American Bandstand, Puttin' On the Hits, etc.) and appearances on various other television entertainment shows and commercials. They have also been presenters of the American Music Awards and received several Jack the Rapper awards.
Y&P now reside in their hometown, Dallas Texas - and continue to perform dynamic concerts, write and produce songs, and run their production company - based in Dallas.
Keeping it "real" in their recording studio is the fun part of the "business". Writing and producing are a part of everyday life for this duo, from R&B to Pop/Rock and Gospel. Along with a host of new talent, the production of commercials, song writing and the producing of other artists, Y&P Productions is definitely on an upswing!
In addition to live concert performances, Y&P have been honing their acting skills with theatrical productions and sound tracks. This is evident by the second run of the Gospel stage play "I Beat the Odds", in which Cavin and Alisa also wrote several songs on the soundtrack, and "Blind Lemon Blues" which has been hailed in France, Geneva and other venues in the United Kingdom.
You may find the music of Yarbrough & Peoples in the record stores on several party CD's, and Polygram/Universals release of "The Best of Yarbrough & Peoples" CD. Their latest multi platinum hit is a song by RAP artist, Eve with vocals by Alicia Keys called "Gangsta Lovin" - for which they were chosen to be the 2003 recipients of the prestigious BMI Urban Music Award as writers - for Most Performed Song.
As the beats go on, so will Yarbrough & Peoples...who are proving to be still at the top of the music game.
When there are quiet moments, you can find Cavin & Alisa at home in Dallas with their dogs, or just hanging out with friends and family.
Product Description
Smooth, yet electrifying with an old school / new school R&B vibe. If you remember the 80's hit song Don't Stop The Music you'll definately enjoy this new style performed by the platinum selling duo, Yarbrough & Peoples.

Customer Reviews:
Good companion for Battlestar Fans.......2007-05-07
If you're a Battlestar Galatica Fan, this audio is an excellent companion to your collection. Passacaglia, Forgiven, and The Shape of Things to Come are emotional and addictive orchestral soundtracks. Not every song from the first season is included in this CD. The opening credit songs for the UK and the US versions and the battle songs (The Thousandth Landing, Battle on the Asteroid) are included. Battlestar Muzaktica is quite odd and doesn't fit with the collection of songs.
Captures the feel of the show.......2007-04-11
Has a great selection of songs from the 1st season. I like show/movie CDs that you can picture the scenes and emotion of the actors when you hear the song. The Celtic underlays are great, and the Taiko drumming style is very well used for building intensity in the music. If you really like the series, you should probably really enjoy the music as well!
Awesome Soundtrack.......2007-04-11
If you like the music in a scene that just blends in and makes the scene even more emotional or suspenseful, that is what the scores from season one do on this cd. I initially bought it to for the prologue (cylon music) and the two main titles (U.S. and U.K.) but after listening to the entire cd, I have become completely addicted to it. The titles of the scores usually give you a hint of the scene and the liner notes also tell you the episode that they are from but the soundtrack has definitely made rewatching season one an even more intriguing experience. The scores with words, are written by Bear and are in various languages, but the words, especially the opera piece, are actually so dead one with the scene and in this specific scene hilarious. I love this soundtrack. If you are someone who is addicted to really grasping everything that happens in this show and watch and analyze it beyond face value, this is an added bonus to have in your collection. I highly recommend it!!!
BSG.......2007-04-10
Man I love the Classic and the Present BSG's So Inaturally find the SoundTrack/Score A joy and very relaxing. They tend to sound very similar but they are very diffrent.
Agree with everyone else.......2007-03-28
There have been lots of raving reviews of this album, as well as the equally sensational season 2 soundtrack. I just wanted to add my opinion on one track, "Destiny". An earlier review describes an Arabic string instrument being used, but it is actually a biwa, a traditional Japanese instrument that has such a distinct sound that it's hard to imagine it being used for anything other than traditional gagaku music. I don't know if anyone but McCreary has ever tried to use this instrument for something else, but it hardly matters. The fact that McCreary managed to use it so effectively in a piece that is so different from gagaku music is a perfect testament to his unique genius. I'm really looking forward to following McCreary's career.

Yarbrough + McKuen=A CD for the Ages!.......2007-02-17
More than 40 years ago two artists were at the peak of their careers. Glenn Yarbrough had established himself with as a folk singer with a trio called The Limeliters. Rod McKuen had likewise established his talents with a top-selling book entitled Stanyon Street and Other Sorrows. When the two were "married" into the album "The Lonely Things" it brough together the best of both worlds - music and poetry. In the 40 years that has passed, no album has surpassed this one for sheer beauty.
Several other reviewers have provided RAVE reviews of this album. I can only add that after repatedly listening to "The Lonley Things" on record, 8-track tape, cassette and CD, I find it like fine wine. The bottle may be a bit dusty but the wine is OH! so fine. I own almost 1,000 CDs. THIS IS MY TOP CD OF ALL-TIME! - Mountain Man Dan.
Eclectic Glenn Yarbrough album.......2006-03-22
Has some great cuts, and some not as great. Most of it we loved though we were hoping for some more classic ballads.
What a great album!! (BEWARE of faulty cd's!).......2004-04-28
If you like poetry and sad songs, this is definately for you. After listening to my mother's vinyl LP of this title, i decided to buy this album on cd. When i listened to it, i was so upset about the bad audio quality that i sent it back to Folk Era Records with a nasty little note exclaiming that if they couldn't do better than this, then they need to quit. Low and behold, 5 or 6 months later i received a new cd with a letter from the president of Folk Era Records. He told me that i (along with a few others) were right about the bad sound and that this new disc had been remastered directly from the original master tapes (thanks to Glenn Yarbrough himself). The sound is as it should be--- clear and beautiful. If the disc you have, or will receive, has "muffled" sound on it, then send it back to Folk Era Records and tell them you want a new one. I hope they will replace yours like they did mine. Buy it and ENJOY!!
Still #1.......2004-02-23
After more than 30 years this is still my favorite album. Allison Krauss is closing in with "Forget About It," but Yarbrough/McKuen show Allison what "sad pitiful" songs are all about. The follow up album of McKuen songs was a sad imitation, but "Lonely Things" is exquisit on every track. I came here hoping to find a modern enhanced version as the original is compressed much too much. In addition the engineer stepped on nearly every ending, but despite the recording, the whole is still a gem. I think I'll send this oldie to AK so she can shoot a little higher now that GY sailed off on a boat somewhere.

What a Voice!!!!!!!.......2007-01-11
I bought this DVD because I lost my original of Baby the Rain Must Fall - and love Glenn - decided my life was much the poorer without this album. The It's Gonna Be Fine part of the DVD doesn't do too much for me, a surprise (which is cool, since the price is not excessive) - I have rarely heard Glenn and not adored his music, it's listen to-able, but not as good as his other albums (nor do I have an appreciation for the one he did with his daughter, sigh). But, I have loved his style, voice, arrangements, all of it, since I was introduced to him as a young adult. I listen to him over and over and never tire of it.
Glenn Yarbrough.......2007-01-10
The CD was and is great. Keep listening to it all the time during my working-in-the-garage hours.
Too close to my heart........2005-12-21
I listened to Glenn Yarbrough's music during my 20s and 30s. I loved his music then and I love it now, for his powerful, unique, haunting voice moves me more than any other singer I have ever heard. So much emotion, so close. He truly is a remarkable artist. Sail on, sweet man.
Unique I Think.......2004-11-05
I'm not an expert on this artist; I remember his work in folk music and the amazing nobody-can-do-it-better "Baby, the Rain Must Fall". But I sat transfixed by him when he appeared at the State Fair, not a false note. The crowd loved him. This is a singer who never had to produce hit singles, just any tune will do once you get into his music. And apparently he never worried about hits as such, as he would make some money and go sailing about the world for the longest time and be welcomed back whenever he decided to return. If you're not hung up on chart toppers, this is a great listenable album for those who like someone who knows how to sing and has the voice to back it up.
What a voice!.......2004-08-14
I grew up listening to these albums with my parents, and Glenn's voice always brings me back to a simpler time. His smooth and powerful voice has to be appreciated by anyone who truely appreciates good music...regardless of your age. You don't here voices like Glenn's anymore.

What a Voice!!!!!!!.......2007-01-11
I have loved Glenn Yarbrough since I was introduced to this album as a kid. His interpretations of Rod McKuen's poems/songs are amazing. I don't enjoy him as much as a part of the Limelighters, but their songs are fun. If you're feeling mellow, blue, sad, etc and want to let those feelings out so they go away, listen to Glenn. If you just want to listen to a delightful voice, mostly soft and soothing, listen to Glenn. If ya just want wonderful music, period, listen to Glenn. The only album of his that I don't particularly care for is the one he did with his daughter, and that's a pity.
A nostalgia trip.......2007-01-10
For those of us old enough to remember, Glenn Yarborough's music echoes a time and place when music WAS music, lyrics had meaning and artists could actually sing. It was a delight to find that his work has been reissued on CD. This album has some real classics- and it would be very difficult to rate one track above another as each appeals in a different way.
ONE OF GLENN'S BEST.......2001-01-31
"When Summer Ends," "The Warm and Gentle Girls," "No One To Talk My Troubles To" - this album is one of Glenn's best, and that's saying a lot. Glenn is a singer whose power lies not in mere vocal ability or performance (though he has both in abundance), but in his rare empathy for people, for his ability to get to the very heart of a song. Once you've heard Glenn sing a song like "When Summer Ends" it'll stick with you forever. My mom, when she was dying, said it would make her feel better if she could listen to some of Glenn's music.

An American Classic Sings All Time Favorites.......2006-02-17
For his volume 2 of 'All Time Favorites' Glenn has chosen a selection of twelve songs much better suited for his classic tenor voice than he did for volume 1.
Along with the inclusion of his longtime signature song, 'Baby The Rain Must Fall', Glenn also scores high marks on his versions of 'Somewhere My Love', 'Always On My Mind', the beloved classic 'Green Green Grass Of Home' and 'Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain' in which he includes some of his wonderfully melodic whistling.
If you liked volume 1, you'll love volume 2!
Not What I Remembered.......2004-09-30
Love the voice, but the tempo of the songs was too quick for the type of songs on this album. As such, it didn't have the rich-
ness or I remembered or expected.
great album.......2004-06-19
I am an OLD Glenn Yarborough fan who had actually forgotten about his mellow and wonderful voice. I hadn't listened to his songs since the days of LP's --- that should tell you how long it has been. I became a fan in college in the 60's --- went to many of his concerts --- any time he was in Colorado. This album was a wonderful experience for me. It brought back wonderful memories of listening to him sing. No one can sing a love song like Glenn Yarborough. This was a treat, as he redid some songs I had not heard him do --- and all with his own incredible style. If you like Glenn, you will like this album.
Remembering.......2001-01-07
A mix of his "old songs" and a few newer ones added in made this cd a joy to own. Old songs bring bad memories and the words of many of them give me hope for a bright future. Listen and dream.

AND I HAVE ALWAYS FOLLOWED HIS MUSIC
Glenn Y All Time Favorites.......2006-11-03
Not so good. This album could have been done by any singer; it is not the sort of music that has the eclectic quality of most of GY's work. I only listened to it once and it is back in its case where it will most likely remain.
All Time Favorites From My All Time Favorite Tenor.......2006-02-17
You always take a big chance with your audience when you decide to sing the hits of other artists instead of your own. Glenn Yarbrough has taken such a risk in his 'All Time Favorites' volume 1 CD. Possessing one of the most recognizable voices of the past fifty years, Glenn has recorded -12 tracks- for our listening enjoyment.
This CD is a rather mixed bag, some successes, some so-so. I was somewhat disappointed until -track 4- 'Sweetheart Tree.' Ahh... there's the Glenn Yarbrough I've been waitng for! He scores well again on -track 6- 'The Last Farewell' and also on the final four songs. Along with the already mentioned 'Sweetheart Tree' my other favorite on this CD is -track 12-, 'Scarlett Ribbons.'
Not a perfect album, but there's enough to make it more than worthwhile for the Yarbrough fan. Besides, no matter what he sings who could ever tire of that beautiful tenor voice?
Amazing sound.......2005-09-16
It has been three years since I heard Glenn sing live and this CD brought back the memories.
Great remakes of standards.......2002-04-11
By no means a "greatest hits" collection; rather, Glenn has, like so many others, done an album containing new versions of other people's songs. And WHAT an album! It's rare when I find myself knowing nearly every song before-the-fact. I recently had the occasion to play EVERY Limeliters and Yarbrough LP or CD in my collection, and to my surprise, THIS wound up being one of my favorite of his "solo" albums. Pretty impressive! I should admit that Glenn's solo music is NOT really among my favorite stuff; but I think THIS album will be getting a lot of play.
I notice that, oddly, this is available in either 2 separate CDs (Vol.1 & Vol.2) or as a 2-CD set. For whatever reason, the 2 separate volumes, together, are... less than the double-album! No idea why, but that makes this and its companion disc a bargain!

Food for the hungry ear........2004-03-29
In "A Study in Scarlet", Sherlock Holmes reminds Dr. Watson of Darwin's claim that the power of producing and appreciating music existed among the human race before the power of speech was arrived at. "Perhaps that is why we are so subtly influenced by it," Holmes goes on to say. "There are vague memories in our souls of those misty centuries when the world was in its childhood". This Glenn Yarborough arrangement might serve as proof of such a proposition.
Now Yarborough's fine tenor and winning personality stand on their own - but perhaps not as well as they once blended with the voices and personalities of Lou Gottlieb and Alex Hassilev as part of the Limeliters.
There's nothing wrong with this fine set of recordings made by Yarborough one night in the mid-1960's at San Francisco's famous "hungry i" nightclub. But folk music, to my prosaic mind, is made up of two types of songs: energetic toe-tappers and slow moving "crooners". I have an overwhelming preference for the toe-tappers, but I understand that you need a variety of greens to make the salad mix correctly.
Yarborough's personality, standing on its own, however genial, is somewhat introspective, and in this selection, he seems to have a preference for the "crooners" (i.e. "How Deep is Down", "Rose", "Only Love"). Of course, there is nothing wrong with the way that he sings these, but I would have preferred a few more "toe tappers". Perhaps the presence of Yarborough's more animated colleagues was needed to invigorate him. And his mischievous sense of humor simply was more entertaining when mixed with the contrasting personalities of Gottlieb and Hassilev.
But this album is especially valuable because of a unique idea that Yarborough carried out while arranging the performances. Radio personality Jack Carney's original introduction to the original LP is included with this CD, and he explains how the audience members at the hungry i were actually invited to participate as background vocalists.
Though Carney insists that this had never been done before, I imagine that Mitch Miller had already done this with younger audiences but that was unquestionably with no intention other than to allow the kids the fun of participation.
And I imagine that this has been done many times since Glenn Yarborough did it here.
But the quality of music that audiences would sing to, or whatever passes for music nowadays, has greatly declined since the 1960's, and Yarborough appears to have undertaken this task as a serious artistic endeavor, rather than just as a means of gratifying his audience, and the result is quite remarkable.
It is incredible that if one takes 25 people off the street and suits them up in baseball attire, he'll have one rotten baseball team. If one takes dozens of people off the street and puts scalpels in their hands, he'll have a staff of rotten doctors. And just look at the politicians that democracy has turned out.
But the rule that massive numbers equal mediocrity doesn't necessarily apply to music. As individuals, the vast majority of us have rotten singing voices, but by God, put a number of us together in a crowd and ask us to start singing and the result really can be something melodic and enjoyable - think of English sports fans - thousands of them - singing in harmony at a football game.
The concept works in this album too - maybe even better in the surrounding of an enclosed nightclub than in an outdoor or indoor stadium. Put the CD on your player, spin to the first song in this collection, "The Music of the World A Turnin'" (the one REALLY GOOD toe-tapper in this collection), and as Carney says, "...well, you listen..."
Live at the Hungry I.......2001-03-02
I have many of the songs on this CD in a LP and have been waiting to get a CD replacement since the LP is very old and noisy. I am very disappointed with the sound quality of this CD - my old LP sounds better if I can ignore the clicks and pops.
Glenn' The Glimmering Light Forgotten.......2000-08-11
I first heard this album when I was a little girl and it has always remained in my heart. Glenn Yarbrough has a way of bringing his music to life. "Rose" shows how a person who has seen alot of sadness can see the light at the end of the tunnel and go on living even through tragic times. "The Mermaid Song" is one of my favorites with it's uplifting and merry music and lyrics. "The Music Of The World A Turning" sees life through every person's eyes. I highly recommened this C.D. to one and all, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

The best.......2005-06-23
A boy gave me this album in 1964 or 65 for my birthday...(my name is Emily and I looked like the girl on the cover at that time). I listened to that album over and over and over. Glenn has such a wonderful voice. This album is my all time favorite. I love the songs on it....some I have never heard on the radio. I was sad when the record was broken. I have looked in every record store since trying to find it. So glad it is now on CD!
Poorly done remix.......2003-12-02
As previously stated, instrumental overshadows vocals in 'Crucifixion'. I have the original album, with pops and snaps (actually 2 albums). By utilizing them as a template and boosting frequencies in vocal range, I did manage to restore it more towards the original. I wish someone would redo the mixing of this CD, hopefully nearer to original album, as I would buy it again.
Disappointed with the mix.......2003-09-24
"For Emily..." is one of my favorite of Glenn's covers. "The Crucifixion" is another of my Glenn favorites and, sadly, on my copy of the cd the vocal is burried under the instrumental. In parts one simply can't make it out. I faxed this complaint to the record company listed in the liner notes. As it appears they did no take my complaint to heart. Avoid this one.
I'll pass.......2003-03-10
As a long time Glenn Yarbrough fan I was dissapointed in this one. Glenn's voice is great when you can hear it. The instrumental portion overwhelms the vocal.
For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her.......2001-11-11
One of the best by Glen Yarbrough. Bought the album years ago and have been looking for the CD for a long time. This is one CD to listen to over and over and it only will only get better.

I'm a Fan.......2007-07-03
I've been a fan of Glenn Yarborough ever since this particular album first came out. My husband and I had the LP - and fought over it in the divorce. Glenn can sing the alphabet and make it sound sexy and warm and delicious.
Nostalgia Wins Again.......2007-05-31
Excellent choice! The album is just as I remember it from, oh so, long ago! A real find and a pleasure to listen to.
Glenn Yarbrough.......2006-08-22
I haven't heard these recordings in years. I feel like I found a long lost friend.
Bit o'honey voice.......2005-09-02
The title song of this early album has become Glenn Yarbrough's trademark and, in my opinion, no one else does it better. The album forms a solid base for his later recordings and leaves a person wanting more.
