Sona Avagyan's debut album, "Katil" was well received by the critiques and listeners alike because of its freshness and unique style. Her follow-up album, "Sweet Armenian Water" recaptures the magical combination of fast modern beats, traditional Armenian instrumentals, sophisticated lyrics and Sona's powerful vocals, blending it all together into a musical style that's become characteristic of Sona Avagyan.

If "Katil" could be called revolutionary in terms of the ways it explored the customary limits of Armenian music, then "Sweet Armenian Water" is more of an evolution. The listeners will still hear Sona's beautiful voice and get sometimes soothing, sometimes danceable melodies with refined lyrics (all of them written by Sona), but what has changed is the overall mood that this album creates. Unlike Avagyan's first release, which was filled with almost child-like joy and energy, this album feels more mature, more grown-up, but still retains the spark that makes Avagyan's music so attractive.

The album's title track, "Anush Jure Hayots" is one of the most playful and enjoyable songs to come along in a long time - it's change of tempos, sounds of traditional Armenian dhol and zurna mixed with a techno pulse, and, of course, Sona's voice create an unforgettable combination. "Varpeti Dzerkere" is no less lively, almost inviting you to stand up and dance with its first beats, and has the most beautiful and well-written lyrics I've ever heard. The album includes two very upbeat songs - the remix of 2001 hit "Katil" and "Im Harazat Enker," a techno track with an Armenian soul. But "Sweet Armenian Water" not only a dance-inclined album - "Tsoreni Hatik", "Tchermak Ararat" and "Hrazhesht" are sure to make lovers of mellow music happy with their soft rhythms, detailed strings and silky sounds of guitar, duduk and shvi. Those who know and love Sona Avagyan will not be disappointed by her sophomore effort. For those who've never heard Sona Avagyan, this album offers a great introduction - if the first impression is the most memorable one, you'll remember Sona for a lifetime.

P.S. The album also included a bonus video of the title track, "Anush Jure Hayots" which can be viewed with a computer or a DVD player.
