Wannabe pop queen Willa Ford disses "cheesy (lyrics) about butterflies, sunshine and candy" in the liner notes of her debut album. She might actually score the attempted points against the likes of Mariah Carey and Mandy Moore if her own songs didn't cling desperately to a handful of similarly radio-ready templates. Here horny ("I Wanna Be Bad"), there bitchy ("Joke's on You"), everywhere wistfully lookin'-for-love ("Tender," "Prince Charming"), Ford hardly stakes out her own vocal turf either. She draws on third-hand Britney affectations and the occasional Carey-like dog-whistle squeal, while various production teams cobble together similarly derivative tracks. Ford's romantic fireworks with a Backstreet Boy brought her a small notoriety long before this CD's appearance, and "Tired" makes it clear that she already considers herself a big-enough name that listeners will respond to gripes about fame she hasn't yet achieved. 4 out of 5 stars Nick Carter is too much man for her.......2005-10-30

She us to date Nick Carter (one of the guys fron the Backstreet Boys). People see her as a slut her lyric are saying she wants to be bad. That song was a hit. This ablum used smooth pop/R&B grooves, hot dance beats and vocoders. This ablum only reached #56 on the billboard charts which I'm glad. The song "Wanna Be Bad" was a hit song at Six Flags theme parks.

I remember this album when I was 14. I love this album. The tracks are a new brand of urban meets pop perfection. Her voice is raw and raspy, yet refined. Her songs are all about real life. This album should have been promoted more. Remember, this was 2001.

3 out of 5 stars It's ok.......2005-06-16

2001 appeared to be Willa's year. She released a Top 10 hit single called "I Wanna Be Bad" and a decent pop album came later that July (Willa Was Here). Sadly, though, the blonde singer's release sounded too much like something Britney Spears probably ditched when making her first record, and thus kept Miss Ford on the B-list of pop stars. Her 15 minutes didn't last long, too: after having a try with "Did Ya' Understand That" Ford's time in the limelight came to an abrupt halt, proving she was just a flap in the pan. That's not to say the girl doesn't possess talent: she co-wrote every song on her CD. In the end, though, her CD stayed true to its name: Willa was here, but not anymore.

1) The person below is a hater. "A Toast To Men" also went top 50. I have articles to prove it (e-mail WillaFord411@Yahoo.com).

2) Critics didn't pan the show at all, where do you get your info? "The Ultimate Fighter" got high ratings and was a top 10 reality show, which is why it wen't international. An article about it is below: “THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER” ON SPIKE TV -- A REAL RATINGS â€~CONTENDER’
Saturday, Mar 12, 2005 @ 8:14PM
NEW YORK, NY, March 8, 2005 â€" While NBC’s Sylvester Stallone and Fox’s Oscar De La Hoya have been knocked out by dismal ratings for their highly-touted boxing-reality shows, Spike TV’s original series, The Ultimate Fighter (hosted by music queen Willa Ford) has been a smash hit for the cable network. The fact that the show a huge smash, is partcially due to the show having such an extremely talented, sexy, & controversial star, such as Willa, as the host!

The series, chronicling the quest of sixteen men from across North America in pursuit of a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship™, has delivered double digit gains in all key male demos. Last night, Ultimate Fighter drew a 1.6 (1.4 million) household rating, with a 1.7 (900,000) in Men 18-49, a 2.1 in Men 18-34 (554,000), and an average audience of 1.9 million viewers. Compared to last year Ultimate Fighter, is up +100% in Men 18-49, +182% in Men 18-34, and +64% in average audience.

After eight weeks, Ultimate Fighter is averaging a 1.6 (1.4 million) household rating, with a 1.7 (882,000) in Men 18-49, a 2.1 in Men 18-34 (525,000) and an average audience of 1.9 million viewers. Ultimate Fighter versus last year is up +89% in Men 18-49, +85% in Men 18-34 and +72% in average audience.

The 13-week series culminates Saturday, April 9 at 9:00pm ET/PT with a live finale from Las Vegas.

3) "Enough To Know" wasn't a single. On amazon.com for some reason they call the Australian version of "I Wanna Be Bad" a hit, in which it also was in Australia, as well as "Willa Was Here" and "Santa Baby (Gimme Gimme Gimme)"

4) "A Toast To Men" didn't flop! The video got spots on CBS, the song is featured in Urbz: Sims In The City, the song is a theme on Sound Garden (a big club)'s website--where it is massively played their, the single hit #1 on the Dance Radio Play, charted on Billboard's Top 200 Singles chart, and hit #1 on Billboard's Top 200 Singles Sales Chart. It also got Willa spreads in FHM, Istinct, and so forth.

5) Willa is not a hoe! 1) She has had sex with less than 7 men in her life (check FHM) 2) She doesn't sleep with everyguy around, but knows what sells!

6) You're a hater! And that name of yours signifies "toughness" maybe to you, but liking JoJo (Disney star and a true 1-hit-wonder) and hating on WIlla (the BAD GIRL of Pop & INTERNATIONAL TV HOST superstar) is being hypocritical.

7) Gotta a problem, e-mail WillaFord411@Yahoo.com then leaving useless reviews. Anyone who gives your hateful lies about Willa "yes" as helpful points, is either you on a different name or another immature 10 or 11 year old white boy/girl. Go to http://www.xanga.com/WillaFord411/ --it proves the truth! Okay, featuring links and things like that.

8) If Willa was really a 1-hit-wonder flop, why was she chosen out of all other stars who auditioned to host "The Ultimate Fighter?" Why is she playing at the Superbowl & Lingerie Bowl in 2006? Why did she get all spreads in Stuff about what she does (the only magazine JoJo is in is those pre-teen white magazines about what they like or hairstyles--useless things that prove they have no career, just to talk about their lives). JoJo can't even get 3 videos play on TV. All of Willa's videos got play on TV and charted, unlike JoJo! "Leave" was a hit. "Baby It's You" was minor. "Not That Kinda Girl" was a total flop. JoJo is a fallen star!

5 out of 5 stars Willa Has TALENT and CAN SING! GO GIRL!.......2005-04-21

After seeing her on "The Ultimate Fighter" and seeing/reading her spread in Stuff I was like "Damn...this chick is hot!!" I was really getting into her, so I decided to pick up "Willa Was Here" and several of her CD singles. The music was great and considering that I'm not much of a music fan...Willa has quickly become a new favorite!! Finally, I read the credits (hoping to see that she wasn't a fake.) NOTE: THIS IS WHAT MADE ME A BIG FAN, WHEN I READ THE CREDITS AND FOUNDED OUT THAT SHE WROTE, PRODUCED, VOCALLY ARRANGED, AND MUSICALLY ARRANGED THE ALBUM! NOT ONLY THAT, BUT HER SINGING IS AMAZING; LISTEN TO ALL OF "OOH OOH," "TENDER," & "HAUNTED HEART" (JUST TO NAME A FEW)! My advise, pick up this hit album if you don't have it! Willa is a big star and everywhere this year and I can't be more proud! You go Willa! You definately got another new fan!

5 out of 5 stars The Best Debut Album...so far!!.......2004-09-03

1.I Wanna Be Bad: #1 SMASH!! Willa's debut single, whcih set her up to be one of the most successful & most talented musician worldwide!! "Very unique & the best debut song for a musician {talented} ever!" Best debut video ever!!

2.Did Ya` Understand That: #1 SMASH!! Made a huge rebound this Summer along with "I Wanna Be Bad" & "Tender"! Along with JoJo's-"Leave (Get Out)" the breakup songs of the Summer. I think at the end of the year Best awards, this will win breakup song of the year. She shows so much emotion in this song...."simply amazing!" One of the best videos ever!

3.Ooh Ooh: Peaked at #3 on the charts. Amazing & a very sexy song. Very unique & of course, is a talented ballad you can dance to! "Amazing & has so much emotion!" HOT, HOT, HOT video!!

4.Tired: Peaked at #2 on the charts. Thank God, like me & her....great Talented people, their hearts, & minds think alike! She dises untalented popstars, especially britney-THANK GOD!! This is an amazing song & totally awesome to dance to & make up a beat to! The video rocks!!

5.Joke's On You: #1 Hit! It did hit #1, but wasn't nearly as successful as her other #1's! "Prince Charming" did better than this song, dispite the fact that "Prince Charming" didn't hit #1! Amazing song with a dance/rock edge! What some of "Sexysexobsessive" is told to be like! She holds on to a high note longer than Jessica & Christina A. can at some points!

6.Tender: #1 SMASH!! Still heatin up the charts! One of the only PURE ballads on the album & Willa shows off her vocals amazingly & is excellent at ballads!! No wonder it smashes & still is smashing up the charts!!

7.Don't You Wish: Top 10 hit!Hot, Sexy, & the lyrics tell she really wants this guy, but is with another girl. Thats her wish, for only a night or two for them to be together. Although its so hot & sexy, it's really depressing. She can't get him & she is dreaming of him, thats how I felt about a guys & a girl(s)!! The video is very hot & you can see threw some of her outfit..."HOT, HOT, HOT!!"

8.Prince Charming: Peaked at #2! One of the best songs on the album & one of the best videos ever!! In some of the video Willa has black, partcially crimped hair w/ straight hair. "One of the best & most amazing songs on the album. Willa's rapping skills are the best, even better than Missy!!" Shows this girl can RAP too!!

9.Somebody Take The Pain Away: Top 20 smash! Should have done better, but at least Top 20! One of the songs Willa performed on the Nautica tour, along with "I Wanna Be Bad" & "Innocent Girl" "The video & song fit perfectly together, all very unique"

10.Haunted Heart: Top 10 hit! Amazing ballad & Willa really shows off her vocals! The video is amazinng & tells a story, as well as the video. "One of the sexiest videos ever" This was shot in Las Vegas, Nevada. Very steamy & talented!! Ooh, for a fact, Willa directs all her videos, or at least MOST!!

11.Dare: Top 20 hit! Did well, but not talented Willa style, but at least it did this! "Very dancy & edgy, as well as the video" Amazing & unique! Kinda like the Good & Evil Remix of "A Toast To Men (F**k The Men)" available on the single {maxi single}!

12.All The Right Moves: Purely Pop/Dance/Club music! Excellent music and very amazing! Her voice is great in this song & she shows a lot of talent!!

*Internationally, all the songs on her were released as singles & all were in the Top 20!! Other tracks that also did this & weren't on here were: "Nastified", "Hey Pretty", "Lullaby", & the soon-to-be #1 smash (we all know it!!) "Santa Baby (Gimme, Gimme, Gimme)"!! Contrats!! Willa so far has had 6 #1 smash singles & they are:
-I Wanna Be Bad
-Did Ya` Understand That
-Joke's On You
-Tender
-A Toast To Men - - - - - - - - - Willa's most successful song & video to date
-A Toast To Men (F**k The Men)- - Willa's most successful song & video to date, even more than the edited version ("A Toast To Men")

5 out of 5 stars She changed my mind FOREVER on pop music!!.......2004-06-10

This album might not be "breakthrough," but you have to admit the girl has talent (besides very obvious good looks.)She was the first to start the "bad girl" revolution that Britney and Xtina followed. Before this album I thought all pop was mindless shill written by someone else and barely performed by its so called singers. But this album (with which the singer produced and wrote most of the tracks) is refreshing. Mostly dance beats, but has a good blend of R&B along with the occasional "rock" laced in. A variety of moods can be found, from the horny, bad girl vibe (I Wanna Be Bad, Don't You Wish) to the "I'm independent"(Joke's On You, Did Ya Understand That), this really has something for every pop fan. Give her hard work a chance (because it really shows).

5 out of 5 stars Willa's Imported Offering.......2002-06-05

I'm sorry, but to all the people out there who doubted Willa's talent, this album has proved each and every one of you wrong. This is a very good album with a lot of power and promise. I've followed Willa's career for a year and a half now. While everyone else was saying that her first single "I Wanna Be Bad" would never make it to the Top 40, I was singing right along!

Sure, she might have played a Backstreet Boy (and taken his TV), but it doesn't mean everyone should go around saying nasty things about her. She's done a few things I wouldn't do, but she is a very talented writer with an impressive debut CD.

Now,my review of this WONDERFUL CD!:

1. I Wanna Be Bad: For all those of you who have not heard the song, BUY THIS CD AND LISTEN TO IT! The track on here is the rap version feat. Royce. Her debut single is edgy, promiscuous and FUN! 5 Stars.

2. Did Ya' Understand That: Sort of R&B-themed and very defiant, this song goes right ahead, tells another exactly what she thinks of 'em and says she wants no more to do with them. 5 stars.

3. Ooh Ooh: It took a very long time for this to grow on me, but the jazziness is infectious and the breathy lyrics are beautiful.

4. Tired: What a song, what a song! "Tired of the blondes that look like me, tired of the people sayin' 'Britney' Tired of the pop that should flop and should never be on TV and in your teen magazines." This song, almost rap and opposed to pop, outright disses her predecessors, her famous ex, ("Shame, it's the game you play for fame, but give it some time, you won't remember their names.") and goes on to tell just the kind of girl Amanda Williford is. 5 stars.

5. Joke's On You: My second favorite of the album. So easy to dance to, so much fun to listen to, and such a remarkable amount of girl power! I have a feeling who this is dedicated to, as well, but we won't go there. 5 stars.

6. Tender: Keep moving.

7. Don't You Wish: Sounding seductive and fresh, Willa tries a little opera near the end (Bravo! Bravo!), and sweetly serenades her Prince Charming. 5 stars.

8. Prince Charming: With all the catchy rap sections, the updated fairy tale theme, and the amount of playfulness of the song, I really can call it nothing but brilliant. 5 stars.

9. Somebody Take The Pain Away: Very good song, but not her best. 4 stars.

10. Haunted Heart: Very catchy and extremely pro-girl power. 4.5 stars.

11. Dare: It isn't a favorite, but it's fun to dance to and easy to listen to. 4 stars.

12. All the Right Moves: Not putting this on the American release was a bad choice, it has Willa's signature flirtatiousness and clever lyrics. It has a wonderful dance beat and catchy lyrics such as "you're playing with my passion.. why must true love be my reaction?" It sounds a little Britney-ish, but it works well for Willa.

All in all, it's a WONDERFULL album with a few dull tracks. An above average, memorable pop debut. Don't write her off as a wannabe pop princess until you give the album a try.
