Can we embrace yet another boy band? Bring 'em on! Here come Kian, Mark, Bryan, Shane, and Nicky--five knock-out Irish lads who were selling millions of CDs in Europe while the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync competed for teenaged hearts in the U.S. Thank goodness for Westlife that pubescent crushes are as transferable as a comic strip to Silly Putty; the group is geared to storm the States head-on, and threatening to overtake a few well-entrenched heartthrobs. Citing the Backstreet Boys as an early influence (when 3 years is more than 10 percent of your whole life, it scales), the vocal-harmony quintet's sound is exactly what you'd expect. The album contains no Backstreet-bombast dance singles, though--these guys opt for Boyz II Men balladeering. Their perfectly melded voices wail, soar, and soothe with impressive emotional impact that's capable of igniting countless gymnasium-turned-dancehall romances. Flying Without Wings.......2005-02-19
Their love songs are beautiful and touching great after you've gotten dumped or you've found that special one. I orginally bought this C.D. for the simple fact that Simon Cowell from American Idol produced this C.D.-- and if the hard to please Simon found this group good than I knew they were worth listening too.
This C.D. is their greatest hits and their is a not a bad track on this C.D. My favorite songs are "Flying Without Wings" which is better than the Ruben versiona and "Take A Look At Me Now" the duet with Mariah Carey. Buy this C.D. for your teen or pre-teen daughter and have her be amazed by U.K's "Backstreet Boys."

Far from collapsing after the departure of founder member Brian McFadden, Irish boy-band Westlife have gone from strength to strength. In the last two years they've undertaken successful tours, delivered top-notch singles and albums and generally behaved like the optimistic, non-stop pop sensations they are. Having recently inked a new five-album deal with Sony, this trend looks set to continue well into the future too. The Love Album, their eighth studio LP, sees the band offer something a little different. Covering 11 of what they consider to be the greatest love songs of all time, it presents a mix of classics and less obvious choices. The album begins with lead single, "The Rose", a reworking of Bette Midler's 80s smash hit, and proceeds idiosyncratically but smoothly through Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart", The Commodores' languorous "Easy" and evergreen ballads such as Kasey Cisyk's "You Light Up My Life" and Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful (To Me)". There's also a sterling collaboration with Aussie pop princess Delta Goodrem - a cover of Air Supply's "All Out Of Love" - and a rousing rendition of the Righteous Brothers hit "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" to wrap things up nicely. Along with mistletoe and candlelight, this is an Xmas must-have for all incurable romantics.--Danny McKennaAlbum Details

Awesome Job!.......2007-05-29
My favorite on the album is "The Rose". It is sooooo much better than the origianl. Next favorite is "Total Eclipse of the Heart", which I thought was really great. Yes, Bonnie's version is wonderful too, but it's nice to hear it done in a different way. At first, I wasn't really fond of "All Out of Love". They were brilliant, but Delta's voice was so different from theirs it was throwing me off. But, after playing it several times, it has grown on me and I love it now. I really thought they did "The Dance" justice, it sounds just as good as Garth's. The one that shocks me is "You've Lost that Loving Feeling", because Shane sounds just like the origianl guy from The Rightous Brothers. At first, I thought it was the other band, until I heard the other guys singing too.
Overall, the album is fantastic. I love everything these guys do! If they want to do cover songs, I'm behind them 100% all the way. They will do great no matter what songs they sing!
Great!!.......2007-01-18
How can anyone give them 2 stars?.......2007-01-10
People always like to compare with the first version! That's why the first impression always IS important.
This album for $17.99 is rather reasonable because I saw they sell in U.K for 8.99 pound (a pound is about 2 U.S. dollars. This is rather inexpensive compared to Michael Ball CDs which is about U.S $34. I am surprised Amazon don't raise the price on this one.
And for the boys, if they are not good, they are falling right now like Nsync, Backstreet boys, 98 degree.....Give them some credit!
And their concert DVD are always an enjoyment! a blast actually...
Westlife...2006!.......2006-12-15
Some of the songs I enjoy on this album are "Total Eclipse of the Heart", "Have You Ever Been In Love", "The Dance", and "All Or Nothing". Mark performed really well overall, while Shane did well also, except at some time his voice is really rasp. Nicky and Kian are M.I.A. in most parts of the album, but in "Love Can Build A Bridge", fans can enjoy their beautiful voices.
I didn't really enjoy "You Are So Beautiful (To Me)" or "You Light Up My Life", I think they should've substituted these songs with the B-side's "If" and "Nothing Is Going To Change My Love For You", because 1st, they are REALLY good songs, and 2nd, they feature Kian and Nicky.
Back to the real album, "All Out Of Love" is a better duet than the previous duet from "Face to Face", but it lacks surprises...talking about surprise, the last track "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" is quite a shock (in a good way)...I heard a lot of complaints about this song, but I like it quite a lot (especially when Mark hits the high notes, and I enjoy Shane's low notes also)! Overall, this album is not to be missed! Like all fans, I am waiting for a Westlife album that contains original songs!
So what...?.......2006-12-07
Those that offer no big difference from the original version would be The Rose, All Out of Love (weaker even than the original), You Light Up My Life, All or Nothing and You've Lost That Loving Feeling. The Dance is OK, but a bit boring.
Those that sound as good would be Easy (even slightly better), You Are So Beautiful (To Me) (a little twist), Have You Ever Been in Love and Love Can Build a Bridge. My incentive for buying this CD was the massive Bonnie Tyler smash, Total Eclipse of the Heart (they do it some justice, but it lacks Bonnie's power).
A lot of negativity it seems to deserve three stars. Here is my rationale. The guys are quite good, but it would have been nicer to infuse the songs with a little personal style. They are good at what they do and they have good voices. They sing well together and alone, which you may want to expect from Simon Cowell (though Il Divo, another one of his discoveries is so-so...)
I hope the lads will come back with something original. If you want British talent that covers old pop and rock songs, I would most definitely recomment Bonnie Tyler's HEART AND SOUL, a great album of covers which was released a few years back. As far as Westlife is concerned, I am looking forward to something more substantial, and less fluff. Still a big fan though!

Good.......2006-06-09
It's actually surprising to me how good Mark Feehilly is. His voice is one of the best I've ever heard. I wouldn't mind if he went solo. The other lead is a very solid singer, but his voice just doesn't compare to Mark's.
Great remake songs - Westlife.......2006-04-16
You Raise Me Up - 5/5!!! Great song overall...strong vocal from Shane and Mark! This song caught my attention when it was played during "American Inventors"...very emotional! The music video for this song is great!
When You Tell Me That You Love Me - 4/5!!! Great song overall...I don't think Diana Ross's voice matches Westlife's voice, but a great crossover nevertheless. The music video for this song is great too!
Amazing - 5/5!!! Love it! Love it! It is refreashing to hear something upbeat after 2 slow songs. Shane's voice is great! The music video is just ok.
That's Where You Love Me - 5/5!!! I think this is my favorite track in this entire album...great job!!! I will never be tired of listening to this song!
She's Back - 3/5!!! Another upbeat song...a fun track, but Amazing is so much more better...
Desperado - 4/5!!! At this point of the album, I was wondering "where did Nicky and Kian go??? Shane/Mark, stop hogging all the parts!" I like the remake of this song! However, I want the dramatic part to be more dramatic...the ending is quite good though.
Colour My World - 4/5!!! Wow...their voices can go so high...defintely better than the BSB version (however, this song is never released in America from BSB). But I think they are trying to be too much BSB...they should make this song Westlife style.
In This Life - 4/5... This song wasn't that appealing at first, but after listening to it 10 times, it gets you!
Heart Without A Home - 4/5! This song sounds too much like Nick Carter...especially when Shane strain his voice like Nick Carter (I think it's Shane...not sure, correct me if I am wrong). But a great song nevertheless! Love it!
Hit You With The Real Thing - 5/5! Wow...so different than the previous tracks...I am giving it a 5-star just for trying different style...the only real dancing song in this album (unless you can dance along with She's Back).
Change Your Mind - 4/5! I guess this is an easy-listening song...not too special...not a good selection to end this near-perfect album...but there is a...
BONUS TRACK: Maybe Tomorrow - 5/5! Great way to end the album! Nice song! ....
I hope Westlife will release more album in the future...and actually make new songs, so I can give them a 5-star next time! Get this album today!!!!!
Back to the Basics for Westlife.......2006-04-04
Another dull album by Westlife.......2006-03-08
Better than ever.......2006-02-05
My only other complaint is that in order to get all 12 tracks I had to buy mine from Amazon.uk. when this cd was released. It is unfortunate that record companies think they have to have different versions (or in this case, one less song) for different parts of the world. We all pay good money to hear our favorite artists and we should all be given the same recordings for the same price. Now, Amazon.com offers two versions of this cd, and charge approx. $10.00 more for one more song. WRONG!!!!

Coast to Coast.......2006-12-21
The Best Boyband of the modern era.......2006-03-29
These guys are absolutely brilliant and actually know how and what to sing. Their voices have the touch of deep and profound pathos and their sad songs such as "Soledad" are so mesmerising that you cannot help listening them again and again. The lyrics in all of the songs of this album are rich with poetic diction and capture the imagination of the hearts of those who are basking in love as well as of those who are recollecting with sad pleasure the remnants of a lost love.
Westlife is a band who concentrate on capturing the commercial market and winning people's hearts. The songs in "Coast to Coast" are in a smooth paradigm of high tempo, low tempo and love ballads. The music too is exquisite and apt for the songs.
If you want to ease yourself into some soothing music, then Westlife's "Coast to Coast" would be the perfect choice.
I LAY MY LOVE IN THIS GUYS.......2005-09-02

Another Awesome Album From Westlife.......2006-01-30
QUEEN OF MY HEART- This is a great song. Perfect choice for the first single released for the album.
BOP BOP BABY- I love this song. And it's even better that it was written by Shane and Bryan. The video is cool, too.
I CRY- I love Mark in this song. So soulful.
WHY DO I LOVE YOU- This is a great song as well. Are we seeing a theme here? I can just picture the dance moves when I hear "Why do I love you like I do..Like I always do" LOL.
I WANNA GROW OLD WITH YOU- I love this song. Such a strong ballad and you can totally tell that these guys wrote this while missing their ladies. I like how Nicky gets a few lines here, too.
EVERGREEN- Not the best song on the album but it has grown on me. I don't really get how you make a night evergreen, though. :)
WORLD OF OUR OWN- This is the song I look forward to every time I play this CD. It is perfectly mixed with perfect singing. I like how Shane's voice gets raspy at times. And Mark is once again amazing here.
TO BE LOVED- This is actually a song where I thought to myself "Hey, that could be a good first dance song for a wedding". One of the best ballads they have done, in my opinion.
DRIVE- I like how this song is a bit different than the rest. They have that part where it's almost a cappella that I love.
IF YOUR HEART'S NOT IN IT- Another song I look forward to when I listen to this CD. Every line sounds so heartfelt.
WHEN YOU COME AROUND- I have to say I haven't listened to this song as much as the others. But I do love the beat in the background. And it's a song that makes you feel happy.
DON'T SAY IT'S TOO LATE- I like this song. Not my favorite, but it has grown on me.
DON'T LET ME GO- Again, I'm glad Nicky and Kian get some lines in this song.
WALK AWAY- I like the sound of "If you want a man that is here to stay..." Good song.
LOVE CRIME- I'm not crazy about it, but it's a good solid song. Takes some getting used to.
IMAGINARY DIVA- I LOVE this song. I didn't at first, but I do now. Again, Mark's voice (and songwriting) is amazing.
ANGEL- I do like this song, but it has been soooo overplayed in the US that I'm not crazy about it. I do think that Westlife did a great job covering it though. It is not an easy song to sing.
Overall, I think this album is definitely a must-have for any pop music fan. And what I love about it is that it is a great CD for working out. The treadmill is much more bearable while this CD is playing. :)

I HATE IT!.......2004-12-14

Their best album yet.......2004-07-12
Track One: Mandy - A cover of the Barry Manilow classic, at first I was worried about this song being on the album, however, any worries that I had soon disappeared as soon as I listened to it. Westlife once again take a classic song, and make it their own, without changing it beyond recognition.
Track Two: Hey Whatever - The first single from the album, Hey Whatever is not your typical Westlife track. It's fun and upbeat, and unlike anything on the radio today.
Track Three: Heal - Another great song. Once again, not a ballad, this mid-tempo song shows off the vocal talents of every single 'Lifer and makes you realize why they are so popular.
Track Four: Obvious - My personal favourite on this album. Obvious is what you've come to expect from Westlife, an amazing ballad. However, this ballad is different from others that Westlife have done. It's unique and different, but has an amazing build up throughout the song that you just can't help but feel the emotions sung about in the song.
Track Five: When A Woman Loves A Man - More your typical Westlife ballad, some say that this song should have been on an earlier album. While it is a song you'd expect to hear from Westlife, this ballad once again, has amazing vocals, as well as amazing music, and the two together make it an amazing song.
Track Six: On My Shoulder - This song is another ballad, however, like many of the ballads on the album it is unlike any ballad you've heard before. With a more earnest sound to it, this song is bound to be one of your favourites.
Track Seven: Turnaround - The title track of the album is once again not something that you'd expect from Westlife. This upbeat track is a great addition to the album, showing just how much the group has changed since their very first album.
Track Eight: I Did It For You - Written by Diane Warren, this is an amazing ballad. Like many of her other songs, this one portrays the emotion most written about in songs, love. Westlife take her song and have created an unforgettable ballad, and it ranks up there with the best of Diane Warren's songs.
Track Nine: Thank You - Another mid to up tempo song, this song once again helps show the growth that the group has gone through musically since the release of their first album.
Track Ten: To Be With You - A cover of the Mister Mr. song, once again Westlife show thier ability to make a song their own, without changing it completely. By updating the musical aspect of the song, they make it accessible to a whole new generation.
Track Eleven: Home - My least favourite track on the album, which is saying a lot as I still love it. Home takes your typical pop ballad formula and changes everything about it. Once again showing off the vocal talents of the group, which is the very reason they have sold so many albums, and been around for so long.
Track Twelve: What Do They Know? - A clever shot at the media, this song examines the fact that people always see the bad things, and never the good things. While this song is written about a relationship, it is obvious that it also talks about the media's obsession with saying that the group is splitting up. It's the perfect song for any diehard Westlife fan.
Once again, Turnaround is Westlife's best album to date. With over 32 million albums sold worldwide, 12 UK number one singles, five sold out tours, and the only "boyband" to release five albums and still be going strong, Westlife proves that they are not your typical boyband.
In fact, they are the exception to every rule. Even with the departure of one of their members, they are planning their sixth album with the all new four-peice Westlife to prove once and for all that Westlife are Unbreakable. Add this album to your collection, and you won't be disappointed. And while your at it, check out their others: "Westlife", "Coast To Coast", "World Of Our Own" and "Unbreakable - The Greatest Hits Volume One"

Are you kidding me with this?.......2007-03-24
"Mostly the credit must go to the enormously swinging back-up orchestra." That's because it is note for note, instrument for instrument exactly the same back as the original. Listen to Westlife's "Ain't that a kick in the head", then go listen to Dean Martin's original. There's no difference! I would not be surprised at all if they sang to the same records, just with Dino, Sammy or Frank's voice edited out. These guys are horrible and should stick to screwing over the pop scene and leave the standards alone.
Think I'm being mean? Check this review from the Stylus website:
"Opener "Ain't That A Kick In The Head" is the most destructive thing to have happened to Dean Martin since emphysema."
I really can't improve on that.
Folks, if you like this music, listen to the masters. Not the wannabees.

Lets be frankly honest.... .......2006-12-26
Surprisingly good, since I'm not a Westlife fan.......2006-08-27
Are the kids who like Westlife's original music suddenly going to turn into Sinatra fans? I dunno. Are Sinatra fans going to suddenly rush out and buy more Westlife after hearing this? I dunno. Will there be fans who don't even know these aren't brand new songs? Probably. But, you know, I enjoy over half of these songs. If Westlife does also, why shouldn't they sing them? And if this is how the songwriting lives on in the CD age, what the heck?
I'm glad I have this CD. Just for the record, I much prefer Bobby Darin to Frank Sinatra. (How many 42-year-old rednecks have such a firm opinion on this issue?) But hey, Westlife can sing. Prior to this CD, my impression of them was negative because what they sing about simply doesn't interest me, and which I presume they'll go back to now. This particular CD has some damn fine writing, which I tend to believe they'll never achieve again.
Classics to a NEW GENERATION........2006-08-27
Any artist can cover songs, but few can make them their own and provide the energy to make them sound new.
Aint that a kick in the head should be placed on any future greatest hits and the beautiful Smile never sounded better.
The boys had fun recording this CD and you will thoroughly fall in love, again, with these classic hits.
If you want a real treat, purchase their latest DVD - The #1's Tour, and experience a brief opportunity to go back in time.
Young people, if you take the time to listen, you will truely appreciate and LOVE this material.

Another Highlight of the Album is a Duet with Pop Diva Diana Ross on "When You Tell Me that You Love Me". A Great Album!.......2007-01-12
2 - When You Tell Me That You Love Me - Same as track 1. This song was done by the American Idol finalists and is available on their C.D.
5 - She's Back - I think this is my favorite song on the C.D. It is a very upbeat tune.
11 - Change Your Mind - I love this one and it is kind of like a 1970's song.
THE ABOVE SONGS ARE MY FAVORITES ON THIS ALBUM.
I also like Amazing, That's Where You Find Love, Color My World, and Heart Without a Home. This is a very good album and would go great with their Unbreakable C.D. You can listen to it time and time again.
I don't really listen to the songs Desperado, In This Life, or Hit You With the Real Thing (this is a weird song for them; something like NSync would do).
A song for every mood!.......2006-08-27
Romantic ballads, that only Westlife can deliver. Amazing will be their next #1. Colour my world will also top the charts.
The boys inject some Motown sound with the fun, make you want to dance, Hit you with the real thing. This CD is a great mix from beginning to end. Awesome vocals and harmonies.
Westlife continues successfully because they know who they are and LOVE what they are accomplishing together!
