The drum sound is heavy and full, the overall effect crystal clear and pristine. Harmonies are immaculate, melodies melt in your heart. Has "Does Your Mother Know" ever sounded so powerful? Was "Dancing Queen" really this infectious? If your an ABBA fan, you'll be blown away by the audiences caught on these recordings. It's obvious that ABBA was at an amazing height of popularity when these recordings were made. Good sappy fun.

Not just a studio band..........2007-01-15

As a long-time fan (I'm that old) I saw ABBA on TV years ago performing "live" in lip-synch Bandstand mode. Surprise! This disc blows away any doubt that the ABBA sound was no more than a production engineer's ultimate triumph. Surprisingly intense guitar & drum riffs, up-tempo versions of already up-tempo songs, perfect pitch singing; in a word, tight. In 100 years, music historians looking at this period will list Bjorn & Benny with Lennon/McCartney and John/Taupin as the greatest pop music writers of the day; ABBA the band deserves recognition as one of the premiere performing units of that time as well.

If you really like ABBA "GOLD" and you enjoy live music, then buy this CD. The group is energentic and their vocals are on the mark. It's also cool to hear these songs a different way other than the studio versions. Some highlights on this CD are the audience joining in on "Fernando" and the kids singing on "I Have A Dream"

Half of the album has been engineered by quite poor standards. The hits are there but at least the drum sounds must be remastered. Why not the bass too. That's for the open-eyed abba fans of course.

I don't think I have ever heard a POP band sound so hard-core LIVE on stage.

Ever.

It doesn't surprise me because I alway knew the 4 members of ABBA were truly talented individuals. But this CD may surprise those ABBA detractors who love to hate them and brand them as a "sugary" pop band.

Anybody who is an ardent ABBA fan will know that they covered various styles of music throughout their 10 year career but for those close-minded critics who listen to track's like MAMMA MIA and DANCING QUEEN and state that ABBA was only capable of executing bouncing pop ditties underestimates the talent of this group and not many artists are able to pull off a LIVE recording CD so successfully.

ABBA LIVE only proves that ABBA could rock even better than most rock bands.

These were truly skilled musicians and there talents is evidenced on this recording. From the girls solid vocals to the blistering guitars and the hard-core drums.

Frida's vocals are superb during her solos- I HAVE A DREAM, FERNANDO, SUPER TROUPER and MONEY MONEY MONEY. Her voice is soulful and strong and when combined with Agnetha's unique sound, the result is sublime.

And speaking of Agnetha, her voice rocks during her solo in TAKE A CHANCE ON ME, GIMME GIMME GIMME and her lovely intro to CHIQUITIA is gorgeous but her rendition of THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC is where she reigns supreme. The live version is almost as good as the studio recording.

Several of the songs are given a harder edge, making them sound less ABBA-esque but still retain their original charms due to the girls unique sound. Most notably WATERLOO, THE NAME OF THE GAME/EAGLE and ON AND ON AND ON. The latter especially is quite different from the studio version. The pace and beat is faster, the sound is edgier and the girls hard vocals makes this one of the standouts of the album.

The vocal harmonies are also outstanding. Agentha's harmony on Fernando is spot on and the acapella intro to SUPER TROUPER is spine-tingling.

This is a great CD and I encourage everyone, not just ABBA fans to purchase this CD. It is a rare opportunity to listen to one of the greatest pop bands that ever graced the world stage on top of their game.

I also recommend getting their LIVE DVD's, ABBA LIVE (some of the songs are featured here) and ABBA-THE MOVIE. ABBA didn't need any hi-teck pyro-technic's and on stage special effects or lavish stage set's. Aside from some colourful costumes, it was just their music and voices that made their live shows exciting.

This CD only proves what us ABBA fans knew all along, that ABBA rocks and their music is unparralled.

ABBA reincarnated for the 21st century.......2003-06-13

The members of ABBA have stated they will never reunite (then again, so did the Eagles), and until they do, Bjorn Again nicely fills in the gap. "Live at the Royal Albert Hall," recorded in 1998, offers up flawlessly performed ABBA tunes, as well as an ingenious rendetion of "SOS" and the Police's "Message in a Bottle," as well as a rocking cover of Black Sabbath's "Paranoid." Yes, Black Sabbath.
The two female leads -- Agnetha Falstart and Frida Longstokin (that's the wacky Ausie humor) come close to matching the famous harmonies of the real Agnetha and Frida, and the music is handled by very talented musicians. All of this is done very much with tongue firmly planted in cheek, as evidenced by the on-stage banter of the band (complete with phony Swedish accents). The ABBA songs covered -- from "Waterloo" to "Dancing Queen" are done so very much in keeping with the spirit of the real ABBA. Closing out the CD is an awesome rendition of "Thank you for the Music," which sounds like it was lifted directly from "ABBA Live."

I suppose ABBA is something of a guilty pleasure, but one that is enjoyed the world over, whether it's via Erasure's famous covers, to U2's inclusion of "Dancing Queen" on the set list. Other acts -- such as the A*Teens -- do not come close to capturing the ABBA experience in the same way Bjorn Again does. As Benny himself said in 1999, "Fans had better make the most out of Björn Again because that's the closest they are going to get to seeing ABBA." It's advice well taken.

Bjorn Again - RAH CD.......2002-03-14

This is the most recent BA release and is taken from a live show performed at London's Royal Albert Hall. The CD contains all the live songs from the gig and is also interspersed with live dialogue between band members in their traditional 'cockney swedish' method of working the crowd. The songs are fab and you cannot listen to the whole show without breaking into a smile! All the hits are there, and Robin (aka 'Benny')'s cover of Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid' is amazing! Listening to the CD will make you want to see them live and find out exactly why the audience are so obviously having a great time! If you want to see the hit songs then look out for the video of the same name as the CD - this has extra music to the CD eg 'Arrival' and a wonderful intro to 'Thank you for the Music', plus backstage footage. Also look out for the original live album as part of the "Flashback/Live" double album.
...And may BA continue to spread Love, Peace, Fun and Glitter for many years yet!

ABBA FOREVER !.......2000-07-13

Bjorn Again look, play, sing and dance like ABBA, humour in bonus. This album is simply fabulous because for the very first time, you can hear this cover-band at home ! In the past, the only way to hear them was to see them live. And this concert recorded in the Royal Albert Hall is one of the 1850 performed all around the world. I can't forget their performance in Paris, because it was simply the best live show I've ever seen : perfect, funny and very stirring. When you're listening "Mama Mia" and "Dancing Queen", 2 big hits featuring on this album, you won't stop remember the magical "Priscilla" and "Muriel" ! Enjoy !
