Kolor Brown is the definitive contemporary soul artist, whose music has evolved through generations of struggle, experience and experimentation. His sound is the fusion of everything soul and his songs are spacewalks through love, pain, angst, and triumph.
Born Roan Brown, this Toronto native’s influences & experiences are as diverse as the city that raised him. He is a singer, songwriter and producer with training in fine arts and performance arts. For Kolor Brown, “Art is about the essence of a time, more than the artists themselves.� His life travels provides a foundation for a sound that is distinct, fusing the Soul of Funk & R&B from the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s, with the melodic righteousness of Reggae, and the angst of Hip-Hop. Kolor Brown is a new “old soul� artist.
In a time of manufactured pop acts and marketing driven music, artistic originality & creativity are often forsaken for numbers and an image. The art of song writing has become more about formula than the raw feelings at the end of a pen. Kolor Brown is an artist that will be defined by his distinct & beautifully soulful voice, talented writing, and love for making good music.
The Kolor Brown project, produced by Ron Allen and distributed by Orchid Entertainment, is an introduction to the talents of this multifaceted artist and a sampling of what’s to come. The EP contains the first official single SOUL BROTHA, a song about strength, unity, commitment, and social consciousness. This song is about continually trying to do better and trying to “get it right�.
Also on the EP are; MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, a song of a relationship that just can’t work. BELIEVE an inspirational song about not giving up and always believing in your self. And HELP (original Mix), a soulful house track about a love lost and a love found.
The forthcoming full length LP will feature contributions from some of the most creative and talented musicians of this generation and is promised to be simply beautiful and relevant music, for all generations.
