About the Artist
Singer/songwriter Harry Guffee teaches math and life skills in the sixth grade. These Songs for Learning were written to reinforce lessons that he teaches in the classroom. Each song provides an opportunity for students to learn and remember important mathematical concepts, and experience the joys of making music at the same time. Although these musical lessons are especially appropriate for students in the sixth grade, much younger children will enjoy them and learn from them as well.

Subtraction Does Make a Difference.......2005-12-13

This CD has to be one of the coolest out there. I am an eleventh grader in calculus, and I find myself singing these songs in my math class. All three of the Harry Guffee CDs are proudly on my iPod, and I listen to them frequently. It is such a cool way of learning, and it's true that these CDs can help kids in all ranges and levels of math. They are set to a tune that is catchy and easy to understand, and I am always able to form a picture in my head of what is being sung. It's like a kind of "School House Rock" that specializes in math. I totally recommend this CD and the two others to everyone out there. It doesn't matter if you are a teacher, student, or parent, this CD can help everyone. Each song has its own style, catchy tune, and rule to be learned in a modern-day fun way.

A different CD of Math Songs.......2005-03-26

With so many Math CD's out there, you may want to take a listen to what his words in the songs mean. Some can be quite difficult to understand if you are a visual learner. If you are a parent in search for some help with math skills then this CD may not be the best choice however, if you are someone wanting to get a little more "ump" out of math and understand a little more about the skills then give it a listen. It could be right up your alley.
