I dont know much about Debbie Gibson (I was more of a Tiffany fan, sorry) BUT I did love Debbie's music but I didnt know all her songs so when I found this cd I thought I'd buy it and I am so gald I did because its great.
But what I've been told is its not ALL her hits but I totally love it because it brings me back to the days of great pop music.
Debbie plays pop music playfully and puts a smile to my face and I do still dance to it lol.
Can I say? even though Tiffany was the queen of ballads at the time, Debbie still had beautiful ballads.
This cd is a great blend of both pop and ballads, I totally love it.

I too, really liked the music that Ms. Gibson put out. My favorites, of course were (1)Only in My Dreams and (2)Shake your love. Four stars!

Cheap compilation of (mostly) worthwhile material.......2006-09-29

This CD came out in 1995, which was two years before I got Internet access, and several years before online purchasing became the order of the day. So, although I've been familiar with Ms. Gibson's music since her second album 'Electric Youth' in 1989, I didn't really know anything of this release when it first came out. And since I did find out, it has taken me several years to actually come around buying it (on CD - I got the cassette for very cheap a couple of years ago).

The reason why I only rate this release with two stars is because of the downright cheap compilation. Included are nine tracks in their original album versions. Any good Greatest Hits compilation will use the single version, as they were played on the radio etc. And it will bring some extra value for the fans who will most likely already own the original album release.

My suggestion is that you skip the domestic US/EU release, and head straight for the Japanese import, as it includes two bonus tracks: the Japan only singles 'Without You' and 'Eyes of the Child'. While I wouldn't rank these among Deborah's top tracks, at least they mean some extra value for money.

Even more importantly, though, I would suggest all of her original albums. Her later efforts are not bubbelgum, but high quality pop!

I must admit I was only a baby at the height of Debbie Gibson's popularity, but her music is terrific! Her song, "Foolish Beat," gets me every time, and it's amazing to think that she wrote, sang, and produced that song when she was 17!!! On this collection of her hits, four come from her debut album, "Out of the Blue": "Only in My Dreams" (#4 in 1987), "Shake Your Love" (also #4 in 1987), "Foolish Beat" (#1 in 1988), and "Staying Together" (a Top Forty hit in 1988). Four songs are pulled from her sophomore album, "Electic Youth": "Lost in YOur Eyes" (#1 in 1989), the title track (#11 in 1989), "No More Rhyme" (#17 in 1989), and "We Could Be Together" (#71 in 1989). Two songs are pulled from her fourth album: "When I Say No" and "Goodbye." The only missing songs from this collection are "Out of the Blue" (#3 in 1988), and "Anything is Possible" (#26 in 1991). For those people who want a casual collection of her hits (since she only had ten Hot 100 hits), this is a nice one for a really inexpensive price.

Deborah Gibson's Time Capsule - The Best Bang For Your Buck.......2000-02-01

This C.D. is the best "starter kit" for listeners who want to get acquainted, or re-acquainted, with the music of Deborah Gibson. All her hits are on this C.D., and a few surprises such as _When I Say No_ and _Goodbye_ from her under-rated and lesser-known _Body Mind Soul_ C.D. Not only do you get all her hits, but you also experience her evolution as a maturing, blossoming artist as you hear her growth from her first single, _Only In My Dreams_ to her later works such as _When I Say No_. This is a great package, and a great bargain, for anyone who wants to sample the music of Deborah Gibson.

Deborah's Work Under-represented.......2000-01-31

Deborah Gibson, or Debbie as she was known when she recorded many of these songs, is surely dissappointed about the contents of this cd. Her far superior Atlantic greatest hits package greatly outdoes this meek attempt.

First it is important to note that all of the singles from Out of the Blue and Electric Youth are present but nothing from Anything Is Possible (specifically it's top 10 title track co-written by Miss Gibson and Mowtown icon Lamont Dozier) or that albums other hit One Hand, One Heart. Plus, from Debbie's 1993 Body Mind Soul (her only album to garner abundant critical praise) there are only that album's throw-away tracks and not it's wonderful Losin' Myself (wonderfully remixed on the atlantic greatest hits) or Shock Your Mama, How Can this Be?, etc.

All in all a weak attempt. While there are certainly some glaring omission from the first greatest hits -- this one is just stinky. Deborah has a new album coming out in late 2000 -- I'd just wait until then or try to find used copies of Anything is Possible or Body Mind Soul.
