Product Description
Stories from Satellite is the debut release from Jon Kelby. The songs on satellite were written over a period of about ten years, in and between different cites, including Chicago, Tokyo, San Francisco, New York, Amsterdam, and Nurnberg. It is a travel log of a satellite, disconnected, searching, traveling. In July of 2001 in Brooklyn, Jon met producer/ musician Shannon Fields ( The Silent League, Stars Like Fleas). This led to the collaboration that brought the songs on Satellite to life. An amazing group of musicians appeared on this album. The basic guitar, piano and all vocal tracks were performed and written by Jon. Shannon Fields performed additional guitar tracks, as well as clarinet and electronic tones, beeps, etc. Gerald Menke ( Mercury Rev, Super Furry Animals, Babe the Blue Ox, Marc Gartman) added pedal steel, bass and dobro sounds. Jon Natchez ( The Silent league, Skavooie, Brendan Benson, The Either/ Orchestra, The Panthers) played Alto and Tenor Saxaphones, and bass. Andrew Barker (Gold Sparkle Band, Tara Jane O’Neal, Thurston Moore) added percussion and drum tracks. Wade Hampton ( Winterville) played upright bass. Jon lives in Philadelphia, and is working on songs for his next record.

5 out of 5 stars very cool!.......2005-03-03

i really like this record. it is very unique and has alot of different styles on it. if rufus wainwright and thom yorke had a son, it would be jon kelby. great production by shannon fields of the silent league and stars like fleas. this isnt really a pop record. some of it is kind of dark, but even as you are brooding, you cant help but tap your feet. some of the songs really stay in your head. my favorites were swallow, two color, and the last track called frankenstein. very resommended!!
